Kijutsu City. Never has there been a more wretched hive of scumbag and villainy. The smoggy air and neon lights highlight the dark alley that you happen to find yourself in. The smell is putrid. Certainly not the area where most people would want to find themselves. However, you are not a normal man. You've spent years as a thief and as a member of the infamous Team Rocket, but why dwell on that particular chapter of your past? You're in a new region! A whole new life, with all new adventures and new Pokemon, awaits you! Nothing can get in your way now! Except that rather shady looking character who was blocking your way out of the alley. The lurching figure cracks his knuckles as he approaches you while smirking. "Did you really think that you could just run away from us? I've worked hard to tail you here from Sinnoh. Once you join Team Rocket, you never leave. Ever!" The Rocket grunt reached to his belt, and you prepared yourself to dodge if he drew a weapon. However, he merely drew a Pokeball and tossed it into the air. "Go! Grimer!!" A blinding flash of light revealed the poison sludge Pokemon, who looked ready to brawl. "Grimer!!" You frowned, considering your options. What do you do? Teach the Grunt a lesson? Run for the hills? It's all up to you! Enemy Pokemon: ![]() ![]() Level 6 Poison Gas, Pound, Harden |

So here it was: Kijutsu City. Aleksandros stepped from the taxi cab that had brought him to the new region, and he had to say, he was about as far from impressed as possible. In brochures for the Alternia region, Kijutsu had been portrayed as a city full of promise and technologically advanced mechanisms beyond the scope of other towns and cities; all Xander could see now was Petros, his Lunatone, hovering slightly in front of him at eye level, and could see nothing else save for the noxious fumes clogging every cubic inch of space throughout the city. This is... disgusting, ain't it? And very disappointing. Xander projected his thoughts of dismay at the setting to his partner, his only friend in the world, Petros the Lunatone. The telepathic lunar creature picked up his thoughts, nodding mentally in approval of Xander's disgust. The city was not quite the place he would have liked to begin his journey in, if he'd known it was this... horrid. Seeing nothing other to do than wander, Xander figured he'd begin his journey by at least getting to know the city. The Pokémon Center was no better than the city itself, crowded trainers anxious to get their Pokémon restored and shady figures lurking in every corner. It was very much a descent in the service he was used to in Canalave, back where the Pokémon Center was a friendly, inviting place where Nurse Joy knew everyone's name and cared about what happened to people. Xander found himself growing less and less fond of the Kijutsu City with every second he spent in it, every inhalation of the fetid air -- and of course, with his wonderful luck, everything would only go downhill from there. Long strides took him from the Pokémon Center back onto the streets, and his wandering began. Petros had been recalled to his position at Xander's hip within his capture sphere, and Xander's steely hazel gaze absorbed everything he was seeing of the city, storing it within his conscious memory for later recollection. He was getting to know his way around pretty well -- even if all the streets looked relatively the same, what with all the bums and thugs laying around. Crime was replete and Xander could tell just from being there the short amount of time he had. It probably hadn't been his wisest choice to escape a life of crime by venturing to a city with even more criminals than Canalave, but it was too late to turn back now. Speaking of turns.... I must have made a wrong one somewhere. Lost in his own thoughts, Xander had somehow managed to wander into a deserted back alley, complete with the ubiquitous smog and creepy neon lights glowing and reflecting off of his tan form. Something just didn't seem right about this place... Xander immediately went on the alert, his senses pricked and primed to pick up anything suspicious. His hand grapsed Petros' Luxury Ball around his belt, and with a quick tap and the customary red flash, his Lunatone was once again released into the material world. There was the crunch of a footstep on gravel behind him, and he whirled around to find a dubious man cracking his knuckles and advancing upon him deviously. I'll take care of him, Aleksandros. Stand back. The reassuringly protective yet hollow voice of Petros rang through his head, as his pride and joy Pokémon contacted him telepathically. The lunar rock and psychic type was already preparing itself for a mental assault on the Rocket's head when the man released a Grimer. "What, and you thought I'd go down that easily?" Xander cracked his own knuckles, and shifted into one of the many simple defense stances he knew from his experience; if the Team Rocket Grunt decided to attack him, he'd have another thing coming. Petros, battle time. Prepare yourself by using Harden, then assault the Grimer's minuscule mind with a Confusion. Go time. {OOC: Meh, a little short. Better coming hopefully.} Edited by Fable, Jul 8 2009, 11:47 AM.

"Oh, well, we can do that, too! Grimer, use Harden and then Poison Gas!" Well....... This guy was some kind of stupid. I'm pretty sure defense doesn't cover Confusion... That'd be Sp. Defense. But, anyway, both Lunatone and Grimer shone in a strange light for a moment, and afterwards, both looked somewhat darker in color, signifying that their outer defenses had raised. But... It was still pretty hard to tell, since you bth were in an alley. That, and you both were using Sp. Attack moves.... That was really a kind of waste... Grimer, having the level advantage, used the first attacking move. It reared it's head, and that blasted out a cloud of noxious gasses. It was only above him at first, but then slowly crept to the Lunatone and surrounded it. How well this effected a floating rock was... Not very. It surrounded the moon-looking Pokemon, and made it's 'eyes' tear somewhat. With not much more to target, the poison had to go for the few organic parts on the rock. Lunatone took barely any damage from it everstill, and then began it's own attack. A blue aura surrounded it's eyes, which then also appeared around the Grimer. Digging into it's mind, it began to screw around with all kinda of things, making the Grimer writhe in it's psychic hold. The attack finished, and it dropped to the floor in a blob. That really wasn't pleseant for it. Especially since psychic is super effective against the poison types. Having all sorts of images and powers flying around inside it's head, the Grimer somehow still managed to fight it off, and avoid confusion. Although, it may not be able to take many more of those. But, it looks like the battle went from the Opponents favor, straight to yours with your first attack. Ever still, there's not really so much that the two of you can do, is there? So, time for the next move! Opponent Lv 6 ![]() 24/37 96%Attacks: Poison Gas, Pound, Harden (+1 Defense) Vs You Lv 5 ![]() 33/35 94%Attacks: Tackle, Harden, Confusion (+1 Defense) |

"Oh, well, we can do that, too! Grimer, use Harden and then Poison Gas!" Hazel eyes narrowed suspiciously at the imbecile's comments. He obviously wasn't very high ranking in the ladder of Team Rocket. Admittedly, Aleksandros' pride was a bit wounded that they would send someone so apparently incompetent to tail him; Xander had not been one of the lower-ranking members of his sect of Team Rocket, and that they would insult him by sending someone who didn't know what he was doing well enough to know not even to use Defense against a Pokémon that was almost solely at this point a Special attacker. His hard glare gave away his anger at not only being sloppy enough to be trailed without his knowing, but also that it was attempting to hurt he and Petros. Is something upsetting you, Aleksandros? The voice of his Pokémon sounded once again in his head, attesting to the fact that Petros was efficient enough to multi-task by carrying on its mental link with its trainer while Hardening its body. Nothing of importance, Petros. Assault it now. Petros' link with Aleksandros was momentarily discontinued as the Meteorite Pokémon's onslaught connected and wrenched the Grimer's conscious in Lunatone's powerful mental grasp. The blue aura cast from Petros' eerie red eyes reflected off of its darker and now better-defended body, and Aleksandros could only marvel as the attack went to work. The Poison Gas was only a minor hindrance; it merely glanced off of Lunatone's rocky body, doing laughable damage and doing nothing to refute that this grunt obviously didn't realize that he had a very slim chance of leaving this battle with his Grimer conscious. Perfectly executed. Grimer appeared to be doing quite the opposite of well, but that was only to be expected: Petros' Psychic-type attacks were superbly effective, after all. The barrage of images, sounds, and mental sensory overloads proved to be too much for the pile of toxic sludge, and Petros came away from the round with an obvious lead in the battle. It was time for his next round of attacks, and Xander was of course calculating the next move of action. Unfortunately, there wasn't much he could do to change the battle up; Tackle, Lunatone's only other damaging attack, would do only fleeting damage against Grimer's hardened body, and put him in rage for who knows what, and Harden on the other hand, would create defense for physical attacks that most likely wouldn't be coming, considering Lunatone's considerable advantage in altitude. For not the first time, Aleksandros found himself wishing that he had taken more time to train Petros and make its moveset more varied. There wasn't much he could do with only Confusion at his disposal, so his move would be obvious. However, it was the only option, and necessary, and could also probably knock out the Grimer this round if things went well. Let's try to finish this up now, Petros. Use Confusion twice more, and third time if you deem it necessary. I don't think I need to tell you to avoid any attacks. With his commands relayed mentally and the only thing left to do being escaping from this alley with his life, Xander turned his steely glare back to the grunt and mentally prayed for the best. {OOC: Indicates Petros' telepathic speech Indicates my character's telepathic speech Indicates my character's verbal speech Indicates narration |

One thing you will learn from this battle - Team Rocket are stupid. After all, who actually tries to beat a psychic type with a poison type? Then again, you were a part of Team Rocket at one point - so I guess there must be some clever people in that band of criminal evildoers. "Why the hell don't you say anything? You're a complete freak, you are!" the Team Rocket goon yelled, seemingly wondering how you were able to order your Lunatone - clearly this goon is an idiot. Use that to your advantage, and this fight won't last much longer. "Grimer! You can still destroy this pile of rock - use Pound on it!" he yelled, hoping that he could break down the meteorite pokémon in front of him - like hell that was going to happen. As the Grimer made a motion to strike out at your pokémon, Petros merely projected a field around itself - allowing it to use the mental energy of the Grimer against it. However, the sludge pokémon was not to be denied - and despite the psychic energy surrounding your Lunatone, the attack managed to make contact with it, breaking the psychic energy. Obviously, it wasn't going to hurt that much - after all, Rock pokémon could eat normal type moves for breakfast. On the other hand, Grimer had gone close to commiting suicide - despite breaking through the psychic energy of your Lunatone's Confusion attack, the energy still had an effect on the poor sludge pokémon, resulting in his eyes starting to swirl around in confusion. "Come on Grimer! Hit him with another Pound!" the Rocket goon yelled, unaware that his pokémon couldn't say who he was. Naturally, that only meant one thing - as the Grimer made a move to strike Lunatone again, he then realised that it wasn't the enemy. Though he was confused, so that explained it - instead, the sludge pokémon believed that he was fighting against himself, smacking his sludgey arms into his head. "What the hell are you doing, Grimer! Attack that rock pokémon, not yourself!" the Rocket goon screamed, furiously wondering why his pokémon had whacked itself on the head. Obviously, your Lunatone couldn't help but watch in disbelief - or in humour. It couldn't quite believe that the Grimer had taken to attacking itself rather than it - though he soon realised that the sludge pokémon didn't have a clue who he was or what he was doing. In truth, you really now have the advantage over your clueless foe. Your move. PARTNER Lv 5 ![]() 30/35 88%ENEMY Lv 6 ![]() 4/37 85%Confused |

Aleksandros was once again remind of how unintelligent the Rocket sent to tail him must be, if he could even possibly think it was a good idea to send out a Grimer with virtually no effective damaging moves against an incredibly powerful Psychic and Rock combination such as Lunatone. He felt the recurring pangs of anger that they would send such a complete idiot to tail him; he hadn't been that much of a lower-ranking member, and they send this... this... idiot! He felt a reassuring nudge to his mind, pushing his anger away so he could focus on completing the battle at hand; Petros was doing amazing, and Aleksandros was sure he'd turn out to be a spectacular battler, but it was quite over just yet. He still had a ways to go, but with the type advantages of Lunatone and the disadvantages of the grunt, it was sure to be over quickly. He couldn't help but allow an amused smirk to cross his steely facial features at the grunt's frustration about how he would not speak, even to give his battle orders -- little did he know that mental link between Xander and his beloved partner was so powerful that they could communicate instantaneously, with just a mere thought. Petros, watch your rear-- He began to think, but his thoughts were intercepted by Lunatone's preparation to use its Confusion attack as per his orders. Petros had now way to sense Grimer's brainwaves, and therefore couldn't sense its intent to attack; Aleksandros could only wince as the mental field his Meteorite had built up was shattered with the Pound attack. It didn't do much at all, what with Petros' rocky disposition and hardened Defense, but the damage was done all the same, albeit minimally. Petros was then able to fire off the next round of attacks, and they weakened the Grimer to a point that was so near fainting the pile of sludge could barely hang on. To add insult to the Toxic Pokemon's injury was the fact that it was now confused... and had taken to using Pound on itself. The fact that Grimer now saw itself as its own enemy made the battle almost laughable, and victory was near. The feeling of winning his first Alternian battle was so close Aleksandros could very nearly taste it, but the tension between the psychotic grunt and himself still ran thick. It's time to end this once and for all. One more Confusion should do the trick, if it doesn't screw itself over, Xander told his Pokemon telepathically. And after that, try to invade the grunt's mind. I'm sure his mental defenses couldn't be too strong, and it'll be justifiable retribution for him attempting to corner me into a back alley. But of course, Aleksandros, sounded the hollow voice in his head, which Xander was used to by now. It was time to give this grunt a piece of his mind, literally. {{OOC: I'm quite sorry my journey posts haven't been quite up to scratch so far. The stupid purple play-doh was about to meet his end. You big floating moon drifts swiftly towards the ball of sh-- and prepares to begin the attack. Closing it's beautiful red eyes it sends a terrible ray at the Grimer... yet again. The sludge whimpers and whines-- its weak mind being burnt to a crisp... not that it was far from a crisp anyway. Grimer coughs, gags and nearly pukes up a sewer. Finally, it collapses and it's game over. The grunt withdrew Grimer and began walking casually away as if nothing happened. But Lunatone wasn't through with your orders and exahled. to the grunt it said this-- telepathically of course. "You stupid, stupid man. I'm not simply letting you get away... or did you doubt MY powers?!" The grunt roared and held his head. Finally, satisfied the grunt got the idea, Lunatone stopped. Then, to you it said: "While in his mind I discovered that another grunt is ready to strike... wait! Look out!" You turn just in time to dodge another grunt leaping strait at you. "Ugg! Missed... I HATE it when I miss. You gonna pay for making me miss! The grunt, now furious due his epic fail sent out two pokemon... an Oddish and a Poochyena. This grunt and his pokemon looked more than twice as smart as the other one... and twice as strong, seeing as he has not only stronger pokemon, but two of them as well. Good this Lunatone gained levels from beating that last idiot... your going to need them. Smirking, the smart grunt lifted his fist and began to give orders.Poochyena!!! Use Staredown to lower Lunatone's defense and then use tackle! Oddish! Take advantage of the low defense by using two absorbs! Aleksandros watched the pile of shit go down, falling prey to the powerful mind of his Meteoric Pokemon. With the defeat of their first Alternian foe came a soaring sense of pride in their combined abilities, as well as a level increase for Petros. He hadn't learned any moves from his newfound gain in strength, and Xander was again frustrated by his battle style being confined by Petros' limited moveset. To do list, number one: Teach Petros Calm Mind. Then Ice Beam. And then maybe Psychic... Oooh, or Shadow Ball... Aleksandros' mind momentarily drifted away from the ambush, as it generally did when he wasn't controlling his thoughts as precisely as he would have liked... He snapped himself harshly from his reverie, and constrained himself to focusing on the task at hand: namely, beating the hell out of this grunt who dared tail him. The idiotic Grimer again fell victim to Petros' robust mind games, and finally gave up the fight by sinking into unconsciousness. Aleksandros couldn't help but allow a sigh of relief to cross his severe features, if only for the merest iota of time; an expression of relief would have shown his opponent that he was worried, which he wasn't, and made the imbecile think he had the upper hand, which he didn't. Yet as the grunt began walking away, Aleksandros mentally signaled his Lunatone, and the real games began. Through his telepathic link with his Pokemon, Xander picked up the one-sided conversation being used to torment his former Team Rocket colleague: You stupid, stupid man. I'm not simply letting you get away... or did you doubt my powers?! This was a bit out of character for Petros... Xander had never seen his Pokemon act so cruelly, even towards his opponent. However, he couldn't say he didn't like it; Petros was showing a much-needed edge when it mattered. As the grunt roared and held his head, the pain of Petros' haunting voice reverberating throughout his simplistic mind, Aleksandros took a few steps forward to stand near him: not quite above him, but close enough so that he could feel the man's pain without being within striking range of the grunt. He wasn't taking any chances with a direct combat confrontation also; after all, he'd just decimated the man's Pokemon, so why put him through the trouble of being brutally beaten again in CQC? He allowed his gloating to take him to abstraction, as he contemplated what to do with the man -- he didn't want to kill him unless it was quite necessary, but the couldn't have him going back to Team Rocket so he could report his failure and bring back a few of his friends. No, that wouldn't do at all. Petros' mental voice broke into his thoughts again, as was seemingly becoming custom -- While in his mind, I discovered that another grunt is ready to strike... Wait, look out! Petros attempted to display his distress through a series of mental images, and Aleksandros whirled around to narrowly dodge another grunt leaping straight at him. Not for the first time, he thanked his training in acrobatics, for it appeared at hiad saved him a nasty bruise and the new grunt had received one in retribution. Aleksandros immediately took up a combat stance, one of the many he had mastered over the years, and lashed out with a sharp snap kick at the grunt's legs. Not bothering to wait to tell whether or not it connected, he launched into his own orders immediately as the new battle began. Okay, Petros, this battle's going to be a lot harder than the previous one, because not only do his Pokemon both have quite a few levels on us, but they both have advantages in their types also. Take to the skies -- we're going to need you to levitate as high as possible, because we don't want that Poochyena hitting you with any physical attacks. Try your damnest to dodge any attacks from the Oddish, because it does know one super-effective move on you, but I want you to use Harden, then hit the Oddish with two Confusions. Make the Confusions the best you've ever done, because we really need you to confuse the grass-type; in fact, if you can penetrate its mental defenses successfully, try to make it attack its partner. His orders were transmitted instantaneously to Petor's mind as thoughts, and Aleksandros could only throw another punch at the grunt, keeping one eye on the battle but his senses fine-tuned to his own combat. {{OOC: Okay so, if things got a bit unclear at the end, Lunatone is going to use Harden (Viper forgot to mention it in his ref, as did Bonsly, but it should already have +1 Defense from previously), then two Confusions on the Oddish. My character already tried to snap kick at the grunt's legs, and is now throwing a punch at his face if the grunt tries to hit him back, and attempting to dodge anything, of course.}} |

Life is not a fairytale and there are no happy endings.

As you lashed your foot out towards the new grunt, he quickly dodged himself, then the oncoming punch he seemingly backflipped away from. Oh dear, doesn't look like your the only one who has an A* in acrobatics. As you both glared at each other, your oponent began barking out his orders to his pokemon. Hmm, now you were in some trouble. Absorb could do some pretty hefty damage to you. Your Lunatone shot into the air, levitating higher and higher, as it went, the Oddish below aimed the grass on its head in the moon's direction and shot a clear, green beam towards it. Lunatone hadn't got enough time to dodge before the absorb hit. Bam. Your pokemon was now wrapped in a green energy, which began to slowly turn red as it began to suck Lunatones energy. In your head you could hear Lunatone screaming in sheer agony. It was horrible, what could you do? Nothing, the odds were stacked up against you too much. You'd need alot more help now. Well, thankfully that came in the form of a teenage girl. "Growlithe use ember on Oddish, then take that Poochyena down!" A female voice sounded, you looked behind you to see a devine pokemon jump over your head fiering ember pellets which all embedded hard into Oddish, releasing Lunatone before the real damage could begin. The Growlithe continued its path past Oddish and jumped into the Poochyena, taking it out and sliding it across the floor. "Looks like you could use some help." She said, as she landed next to you. In my opinion, she was pretty hot. Still, you should focus on the battle. Your Lunatone had dropped closer to the ground, but had been able to still carry out a confusion attack.
