Tier 7 -- The Battle; Free-for-All: Carlos, Miranda, and John

♣Alternia♣

Finally the time had come and Tier 7's only competitors made their way into the battlefield. It was silent all around them, these three were the best of the best in this tournament. And while their pokemon may not have been the strongest in all of Alternia, they were the strongest levels permitted in this tournament. It was sure to be a hell of a match between these three, especially considering that these three competitors are the leaders of the three known teams of Alternia. Carlos Gouka, the industrial Tyrant of Alternia's team Darkfire, currently registered under the name of 'Roberto Jimenez' due to his infamy across the region. Across from him we have the lovely leader of Team Econix, Miranda Mokuhi, of course now under the alias of Mary Jane. Seriously what's up with the Alias'? Don't you think that the judges would get it by their appearances? Well, that's judges for ya', stupid as ever. Anyway, in our final battle pyramid triangle we have the rarely seen but always stunning John Jikken, and exiled scientist and leader of Team Scion, under the alias Victor Xavier.

Now, seeing as these three are obviously not very good at keeping their identities concealed they've brought weakened version of their regular teams to the battlefield. Strangely enough, these teams actually seem to be well thought out and formulated, however, they aren't exact copies of their regular teams. None the less, it seems that all three trainers are ready for battle. The teams are as follows:

Posted ImageCarlos, er, I mean "Robert," stepped on to the battlefield ready for the battle that would ultimately lead him close enough to his goals that he'd possess the power he wanted. Oh yes, with not even the win on his mind the man simply plotted on how he would reach his destination. His eyes darted over to the tower only about a hundred feet away from them, measuring it with his own eyes as he waited for his opponents to ready themselves. When they were ready, he would send out his first pokemon.

After a time he became impatient, only to realize that his two opponents had already found their way over to the battlefield. "Damn," He cursed to himself as he noticed that one of his opponents was the leader of an opposing team, Miranda, and the other a man whom he'd never seen before but he could assume was another team leader he'd heard of, John Jikken. Now this would prove to be a feat, he would not only have to keep this battle going and eventually sneak away, but he'd have to be sure that Miranda was out of his way before he could do anything. Of course, nothing would come this easily, not for him, not now when he was so close.

Damn it all.

"Alright, let's begin." He heard the referee call off and instantly his hand reached over to his belt where he grabbed his pokeball and flung it out quickly. With a burst of flames out came the Volcano Pokemon, quilava. Ready for battle and looking at his opponents prepared for the fight of his life. "Andre, prepare to use Defense Curl and follow it up with Flame Wheel to your opponent." 'Roberto' called to his Quilava who simply nodded and quickly rolled up into a battle, picking up the incredibly subtle hint to use his Flame Wheel toward Miranda, the only person he recognized as an opponent. So he rolled in the middle of the battlefield waiting patiently for Miranda's pokemon to makes its appearance before he shot off as a burning fireball at her with all his strength.

Miranda, for reference

"Mary," as she is going by for this little tournament, stepped lightly out onto the battlefield. She quickly spied her two opponents. One was dressed in a black and red suit, but his face was one she could not forget. "Robert" was an allias for one Carlos Gouka. If he's here, then he must be up to no good. Such a bad boy, as usual. Just what could he be doing? He surly doesn't need the money, so he has an alterior motive. What ever it is, there must be a prize worth leaving his cushy office to come out into the world. At any rate, he will fall by her hands. She gave him a small smirk and nothing more.

She then looked over to the other opponent. Blue shirt and black jacket with light blue hair was all that she had to go on here. This "Victor" must actually be John Jikken, the banished scientist. He had gone into hiding for some time, but there is no doubt that he is the head of Scion. Well, well, well. Scion, Darkfire and Econix all on the same battlefield. This will be fun.

Just about as "Mary" was going to release her Pokemon, Carlos jumped the gun and sent his Quilava directly for her and her choice. If he's going to be that hasty, he will have to suffer for it. She said, "Come on, Cappy, it's time to teach 'Robert' some manners. Aha, Counter that Quilava's attack and then use Mega Drain on 'Victor's' Pokemon when it emerges. Let's have some fun, shall we?" A sly smile was all that played across her face while she watched the battle begin to unfold.

Once Cappy hit the field, Quilava came charging, or rather rolling, in with a Flame Wheel. The weasel hit, doing quite a bit of damage, but Cappy swung right back by Countering that fire attack for double what he dealt. Carlos may be a little less eager to attack right away next time. After Quilava was beaten back, Cappy took the opportunity to hopefully recover some of the damage he lost from that massive Flame Wheel with Mega Drain. How much he recovers, if at all, will depend on the type of Pokemon that John brings out.

Posted Image"Victor Xavier" walked onto the field with a sigh. Battles like this were tedious work. But, he was here to get a bit of money for his endeavors. That, and there was something going on with Darkfire that he wanted to stop. Laughing quietly without showing any outward emotions, except a quiet whispering laugh like noise, he reached his place on the field. Nodding politely to his opponents, "Victor" opened his coat and pulled out a Pokeball. Examining it, he nodded quickly and threw it down. After the flash of red light, a Vigoroth appeared in the fray.

"Kalare, let's begin. Use Earthquake. Let's make this field a bit more interesting. Then, I want you to watch that Quilava and use Thunder Punch as soon as you can." Kalare jumped up and down twice and the earth rumbled and shook. A localized earthquake ripped through the arena floor, creating small cracks in the earth and sending miniature shockwaves of earth towards Kalare's opponents. Sadly, "Roberto's" Quilava was already in the air when the earthquake began. He hit "Mary's" Breloom with a bang, knocking the Breloom back, but Breloom Countered the Flame Wheel attack with devastating effectiveness.

Breloom was knocked off its feet by the shockwaves. It tried to use Mega Drain, but as it fell, its concentration was ruined, so only a smaller version of Mega Drain puttered towards Kalare. Kalare was watching Quilava, so he didn't notice the small beam of energy that was going to sap his health until it was too late. It hit him and he jumped forwards in surprise. Kalare looked at Breloom with rage in his eyes and rushed towards the Quilava with a crackling fist of lightning. The attack had left him a little drained, but it was nothing serious at all. Quilava had landed on the ground after the Counter attack in the wake of the Earthquake's shockwaves. The secondary wave did a smaller amount of damage than the initial wave, but Quilava had been damaged a bit by it. Now, Roberto had to worry if his Quilava had enough speed to dodge a lightning fisted Vigoroth.

Posted ImageNow with the battle well underway Car... Robert seemed to be the favorite target of the battle. Well, that didn't matter because he wasn't here to win, but rather, he was here to get close enough to the tower for his plans to unfold. But for now, he would have to work with what was ahead of him, at least pretend that he wasn't aiming for something else.

But first things first, save Quilava from Thunder Punch. Of course, the pokemon was quick in his own respect but in mid-air he was pretty much as slow as if he were paralyzed. That is, unless he had some kind of boost? Yes, a boost was exactly what he needed and now that Quilava was nearing the ground it was the perfect time to attack. "Andre, Quick Attack." He ordered, and immediately after doing so the Quilava landed and shot off like a Bullet at Vigoroth's chest with Quick Attack, and before the Vigoroth could strike back he jumped off.

Yes, that was the perfect way to save themselves from getting damage dealt from the thunderpunch that would've landed otherwise. But there was no time to be porud now, now was the time to battle and Quilava still had another attack to use this turn. "Now quickly, follow up with Ember." 'Robert' ordered, leaving Andre to nod briefly before bringing his head back, collecting flames and releasing a furry of embers out toward both Vigoroth and Breloom.

Posted ImageUgh, an Earthquake from Victor's Vigoroth was not on the "things expected to see" list. Fortunately, a Ground attack on a Grass type does little damage. Ah well, in a way, it should have almost been obvious that something like Earthquake would come up. A man of science and a man of money would have that kind of trickery up their sleeves. No use in worrying about that now, especially when a Pokemon's natural moves are devistating enough.

Surely, this battle won't get any easier, so maybe a little added insurance is in order. Also, that Ember attack is comming fast, so there isn't much time. Mary said, "Alright Cappy, you need to be quick here. Wait for the right moment and then send a Vaccum Wave at the Vigoroth. This should take care of most, if not all of those small Embers. After that, cover the field with a thick cloud of Poison Powder." She nodded to herself before muttering, "That should do nicely for now."

Cappy knew what to do in this situation. All it takes is a little timing. He started building up energy around his right claws and waited for a few moments. Once the small flames were close enough, he shot the wave straight for Vigoroth. The resulting wave of air was enough to blow out nearly all of the little lights. Whether the attack hit its mark or not, it still served its purpose. Then, Cappy started shaking his mushroom cap from side to side. It must have looked odd at first, but little purple spores were being released into the air and soon became visible as a purple cloud. It slowly crept across the entire field, engulfing it in a purple mist. It may only be a matter of time before both opponents become poisoned or they do something to get rid of it. Still, Cappy stood within the cloud, knowing that his Poison Heal ability may kick in soon, but for now, nothing. Just a bit longer.

Victor watched the field with a calm aura surrounding him. This playing field was getting to be interesting. His own Pokemon were obviously far more capable than his opponents. All Victor was here to do was watch. And what better place to do so than in a battle with his allies/enemies. They both had some sort of secret agenda somewhere, and Victor would figure them out. Anyways, back to the battle, yes?

Kalare's charge was set back by Robert's Quilava's Quick Attack. "Damn," muttered Victor. He twitched a small bit as if he was shrugging, but did nothing else. He watched as Quilava landed smoothly and launched a flurry of small fireballs in the form of an Ember attack. Luckily for Victor, Mary's Breloom sent out a Vacuum Wave attack that took out nearly all of the little fireballs. Victor nodded a silent thanks to Mary as he called out, "Kalare, use Protect to defend. Then, use Earthquake once more. It seems to be quite effective.

Kalare formed up a pale shield of white light around him that blocked all of the attacks hitting him. He then jumped up and down once again. More cracks appeared in the ground as shockwaves of earth rocketed out towards Breloom and Quilava. Three times, Kalare jumped. Three shockwaves of lessening intensity shot out around him. In their wake, a huge rumble shook the earth and more minuscule cracks appeared. Kalare nodded at the destruction he had wrought. It was working.

Posted ImageThis battle was definitely rough, and not only had neither of Andre's attacks his but there were now other attacks he had to deal with. First off I suppose was the instant issue of Earthquake, which this time Andre wouldn't be able to dodge entirely.

So, while the constant trembling continued Andre took some rather serious damage, but on the last quake he was smart enough to jump and thus found his way out of damage. But that of course brought him into the line of Poison Powder. "Andre, ignite the flames on your tail and neck." Carlos' voice was stiff and immediately Andre nodded as his head created a Mohawk of flames, and on his tail a similar burst of fire came to. Luckily enough for him, this kept the poison away from him long enough for it to burn out, thus leaving him with no chance of poison for now.

When it came down to the new attack combination however, there was a need to take down Breloom quickly before Poison Heal took effect. So with a quick plan Carlos called Andre back to him and gave his orders swiftly. "Quickly, I want you to run toward Breloom as if you are going to use Quick Attack, then use a close-ranged Ember followed by a surprise Flame Wheel." He explained and immediately Andre was off running.

Quickly the burning rodent ran, his flames still bursting so that the poison would not effect him. When he came near Breloom his fired off a close-ranged Ember that was only intensified in power by the flames on his neck and tail. And once Breloom was preoccupied with that he would lunge into an immediate Flame Wheel and roll over the mushroom thing quickly and powerfully.

And now with his Quilava attacking he was given the opportunity to grab the remaining two pokeballs from his belt. "Insendio, Zephyr, watch closely." He said as immediately at the sound of their names a Growlithe and Absol appeared as his sides watching. Each using their own method to avoid the poison that still floated in the air. But they weren't here to watch the battle, no, they were there for the exact same reason he was. Carlos glanced over at the tower briefly, then back at the battlefield, he would soon make his way out of this battle and off to the tower. And Zephyr, Insendio, and Andre would be his coverage when he did.

Posted ImageSo then, it seems as though Carlos is sticking to hit and run strategies. Meanwhile, Victor is playing defense and long-range offense. It may be a broad generalization, but it is true for the most part. Also, Carlos keeps looking at the Joukai Tower. Is there something there he's after? Hmm, better just keep battling for now.

Ah, another Earthquake from Vigoroth. Well, Mary and Cappy won't be caught off-guard from another one of those attacks. Quickly, Mary said, "Cappy, jump!" He quickly responded with a leap that took him high into the poison cloud. It also was enough for him to avoid the Earthquake completely. While he was in the air, Cappy brought the toxins in his body to a high enough level to give him a Poisoned status. Luckily, he has the Poison Heal ability so he gains HP instead of losing it.

Mary smiled at the novelty of such an ability before noticing something making its way through the cloud. It appeared as though Quilava was blazing a trail right for Breloom. Well, that won't do, now will it? Mary then said, "Alright Cappy, use Vacuum Wave to make Quilava back off. Then, give him a Headbutt for added effect." It seemed good enough, but the outcome would be only seconds away.

Breloom built energy up around his hand again and waited a few moments for Quilava to get closer, to ensure a hit. The Fire type got close enough and then launched a flurry of Embers. Cappy quickly released the Vaccum Wave, splitting the little sparks to either side of him with the added fun of the attack hitting him in the face. That stopped his assault, or so it seemed. Quilava started spinning and flareing up a storm; a Flame Wheel. Well, with little time to make a decision, Cappy let his head do the work. The Flame Wheel and Headbutt met with plenty of force, which then transfered into a repulsion. Quilava moved backwards towards Carlos while Cappy went in the opposite direction, back to Mary.

Well, it could have been worse, but it could have also been better. Oh, wait, what is this? Carlos released all three of his competing Pokemon? He might make a move soon, and if he does, Miranda will be ready. The aliases are compromised anyway, so there is really no point in keeping up the act. Regardless, from this point on, it gets... interesting, to say the least. Nothing else to do but wait. Heh.

Posted Image Victor surveyed the battlefield with a calm face. He watched a cloud of Poison Powder extend across the battle. There was nothing he could do to stop it, so he nodded to Kalare who grimaced and watched the battle. Mary's Breloom and Robert's Quilava completely ignored Kalare this round. Victor was okay with that, for battling had never been his strong point. At least, battling fairly.

Victor sighed as he watched Kalare stumble painfully into the poisonous wasteland before him. He made an active effort to breathe less, but it was hard to remain unpoisoned in the cloud that surrounded the field. Victor mused boredly about how he was prevented from being poisoned, but such was a concern for another day. He called to Kalare, "Kalare, this fight is annoying me. Why don't we finish what we started, eh?" Kalare looked at me and grimaced. He was attempting to smile, but the pain from the poison was too much. He returned his attention to the battle and used Earthquake again. This time, fissures appeared in the ground from all of the stress forced upon the ground. When Kalare was finished, nothing really interesting seemed to happen, but nothing ever is what it seems, is it?

That is what this battle is about, isn't it?

Posted Image Carlos was somewhat stunned now, the last round had gone rather well but Quilava and Breloom had a face off for a few moments before both were blasted back. Not only that, but throughout the duration of the previous round it seemed like everyone was revealing their alterior motives. This battle definitely had more depth to it than was being shown.

Carlos looked over to the tower briefly and smirked when he noticed a small black speck in the sky. The plan was well underway now. "Andre, it's time to finish up. Use Smoke Screen now!" Carlos ordered with haste as Quilava quickly bathed the arena in smoke, make sure to make it thick enough to ensure that neither of his opponent's pokemon would be able to see through it. With that, Carlos recalled Quilava and nodded at Zephyr who then nudged Insendio. "Rapidash, let's go!!" He roared suddenly as he threw another pokeball into the air and released a rapidash onto the field. He quickly mounted the firey horse and escaped the battle area. Luckily enough for him, the smoke was still thick enough to ensure that he'd get good distance before they caught up.

Soon enough however the sounds of feet tapping came into the battlefield and a massive burst of powerful wind came from Zephyr's mighty horn. Razor Wind quickly blew away all of the smoke on the field, but the field was still covered in the smokey color of gray as dozens, if not hundreds, of Darkfire members appeared on the field, each occumpanied by their own Growlithe, Absol, Houndour, Charmander, and other Dark and Fire-types. Immediately the members of Darkfire began sending out their pokemon into the fray in order to hold off the other team leaders, making sure to keep the stronger evolutions such as Charizard, Arcanine, Houndoom, Weavile, Tyranitar, and other pokemon around the actual team leaders to ensure they wouldn't be able to follow Carlos with ease. Yes, this had been a well formulated plan by Carlos.

And of course, off in the distance was Carlos riding off to the tower on his burning gray Rapidash at incredibly speeds. He didn't take the time to look back over to the battlefield until he noticed a helicoptor over-head. He smiled, those were the admin of his group who would be coming in to make sure that nothing would come in between Darkfire's goals.

But, what exactly where these goals? Well, how about you all move on to the second thread of this plot.

Tier 7 -- Scaling the Tower

(Also, Darkfire Admin are coming in for additional support. The Fully-evolved Fire/Dark types will only obey them, otherwise they will act of their own free will or will obey the orders which Carlos gave them ahead of time.)

Posted ImageThe earthquake was of little concern at the moment because Cappy could easily stay away from it. The appearance didn't phase her much either, but Carlos' movements were of more interest. Miranda stared at him for a while before he finally made his move. A Smokescreen makes a good get-away. Then, a Razor Wind cut through the smoke to reveal tons and tons of Darkfire grunts.

Aww, such a shame that they won't be much of a stopping force. Miranda and Cappy were next to each other and surrounded. Perfect. She ran her right hand through her hair before saying to the enemy admins, "Sorry boys, I don't plan on sticking around for any longer than I have to. So, just relax and breath Spores." Cappy took his cue and started spredding blue powder in the immediate area. They started dropping like flies until a few grunts showed up with their own grass and fighting types. Others were starting to spread Spore as well giving her the opening she needed. Grunts can be so useful at times.

Miranda then grabbed another one of her Pokeballs and called out a Tropius. She said, "Come on, Nana, we're going to the tower. Cappy!" As she was saying that, she launched herself up onto Tropius's back at the base of her neck and held on. Cappy responded by jumping on just as Nana started taking off. Miranda then addressed Cappy again, saying, "Cappy, if anything comes our way, hit it with a Seed Bomb." It wouldn't take too terribly long to reach the tower, but it would take long enough. Then, she saw a Helicopter with Darkfire's emblem. That just won't do. Miranda said, "Nana, take care of that chopper. Solarbeam and aim for the main rotors." With that, Nana lined herself up and drew in sunlight. Moments later, a bright white beam shot out of her mouth at the chopper. Whether it hit or not was of no concern to her now, as she said, "Alright, now let's go. We've wasted enough time." Nana then took off for the tower with Miranda and Cappy in tow. Miranda just hoped that they wouldn't be too late.
