"Floooon..." The creature hummed, twisting slowly to stare at the newcomer with it's beady little eyes. The breeze moved the thing airily around a bit, until it decided you were more interesting than being lax and lazy. The little thing pushed against the wind to float around you a couple times before sliding up along your back, wrapping the long tails around you under your arms and inflating so it dragged you off the ground a bit. "Floooon..." It called again, seeming pleased with itself as it dropped you from the one- or two-foot height.

It gave a long, broken call, almost as if giggling, and floated about in the air around you, swaying softly in the breeze. Well, most ghosts were known to be playful pranksters, anyways, why not something so lax?

The creature seemed entirely unconcerned with any threat you could possibly pose it's freedom, and peacefully hummed as it bounced around softly. Perhaps it really didn't see you as one in the first place? Would this be surprising, considering that most pokemon did see humans as threats and interlopers? Perhaps this thing could help you. Surely it knew something about it's environment and teh creatures living there, right? Was it worth a shot, or was your hunt for fortune more important?

Well, to your court goes the ball, hmm?

The Drifloon certainly was playful. Silas was unsure as to what exactly it was doing, but whatever was amusing it so wasn't involving an attack of any kind. Pokemon truly were fascinating creatures. This balloon Pokemon seemed so cheerful. Perhaps it's outgoingness could be used to his advantage. Silas honestly didn't have much of a clue when it came to this area, and didn't exactly know where to go to find caves. The Snorunt he was seeking was somewhere close to Joukai. Maybe the Drifloon could lead him to a cave. It was worth a shot at any rate.

"You like to play, don't you? Perhaps you can help me find something."

Silas activated his Poketech and pulled up a picture of a Snorunt.

"I'm looking for a female Snorunt."

Silas pointed to himself, and then to the picture. He knew Pokemon understood commands on the battlefield, but he didn't want to risk giving the wrong message to the Drifloon in front of him.

"Can you take me to one of these?"

Silas stood patiently to let the Drifloon mull over the question. He also kept his mental gears working and his Doduo at the ready in case the Drifloon's attitude suddenly changed, or if it was leading him into a trap. It was his nature to be cautious.

You were right indeed. Pokemon could understand the human tongue, while humans cant even depict a sentence, let alone a word of poke-language. So this Drifloon did understand what you were saying and probably felt a little offended by your demeaning gestures (well, to him they were demeaning). But, given that the thing had a laid-back attitude, he just brushed it past him.

The pokemon looked at you, then turned to head off. I guess feeling that it would get some entertainment out of leading you to this designation. With no feet and just the wind to give it mobility, you didn't find it hard to follow the balloon pokemon.

"Drif, Drif, Drifloon." ... I think it's singing... or humming... or maybe talking to you, who knows? It was enjoying itself and almost seemed to forget your presence. It made some constant shifts in directions, maybe caused by a small gust of wind. Then, stopping in front of some dark cave, it turned to you and gave a nod, which looked like it just leaned forward.

So, I think it wants you to go in that cave, or maybe its just warning you of what's in there. You have a choice to make.

Unaware that he might have slighted the Drifloon, Silas merely peered into the cave ahead of him. The cave was certainly off the beaten path, and he never would have found it without the Pokemon's help. He was much closer to his goal now. He turned to the floating Balloon Pokemon.

"Thanks for the help, friend. I would never have found a cave this expediently without your help. Well, time to head in, I suppose."

Silas took his first steps in, immediately banging his head on the cave ceiling. After rubbing it profusely, he began to take in the surroundings. He could hear drips of water falling from the cave ceiling to the wet floor. He would have to be careful while manuevering through the cave as to avoid falling and causing more damage to his cranium. It was a tad cooler here, and certainly more humid. Silas could tell why Snorunts would call caves such as this their home. He began carefully stepping in, trying to find the female Snorunt that he so desperately had been searching after.

So, a Snorunt eh? Not exactly the hardest pokemon to find in a cave like this. However, a gender-specific pokemon... Well, that was just going to come do to your very own personal luck. And the coin I will flip when the time comes. As you began to venture deeper into the cave, the air got colder. It was kinda' nice, it was refreshing and soothing as it brushed past your face. All of a sudden, the cave became lighter and it was alot easier for you to see.

Now, this was a wierd site. As you got further into the cavern you could see walls of rock, painted over in diamond coloured ice. What, was a cave full of ice doing in the middle of route 1 exactly? Surely that ice could not last long without melting, which means - and see if you can figure this out - there are pokemon around possesing that type of power. It was quite beautifull actually, it was a nice shade of blue and it brightened the way forward up for you.

Now, using my experties and knowledge of cave pokemon. There could really only be two explinations. A snorunt, or a Swinub. What, you didn't think it was going to be as easy as you just coming across the Snorunt you wanted was it? You continued down into a large cavern area. Noticing two pokemon seemingly playing around a stalegmite entirely made out of ice.

:swinub ??? Level 11
:snorunt ??? Level 7

I wonder if that Snorunt is your desired gender...

Silas had learned early on that nothing in life was ever easy. It would appear that attaining his Snorunt would be no exception. It was jovially playing around with a Swinub, another Ice type pokemon. Silas' mind ran over the four pokemon he had with him, knowing that Pinsir, Doduo, and Skorupi would all probably not enjoy battling both ice types. Ekans, although he had spunk, wouldn't be able to handle the inevitable 2 on 1. This left him in quite the pickle. There was also the possibility that the Snorunt wasn't even the right gender. Too many possibilities and not enough certainties. Silas rubbed his chin, his trademark and tell-tale sign that the gears in his mind were working furiously. The image of the Drifloon from eariler floated into his head. Perhaps these Pokemon would be just as friendly, and he could play around with them for a bit to try and learn a bit more about them. No sense going into a battle blind, especially when it was a battle he'd have a hard time winning. He took another step forward right on a patch of ice and slipped and fell. He rubbed his head and muttered.

"Damn."

He looked up and noticed he was closer to the two Pokemon. It was impossible for Silas to know whether they noticed him or not. That Swinub looked a mite strong, especially if it was trying to protect the Snorunt. Maybe now that he was a bit closer, he'd be able to identify the genders as well. Silas took a deep breath and hoped that the Pokemon were as friendly as the Drifloon was, keeping his hands close to Ekans' and Pinsir's pokeballs in the offchance that they weren't. It was a gamble, and he decided to roll the dice a bit.

"Hey there. Having fun? What kind of game are you two playing?"

Clever move! It was very unreliable to be rushing head first into this type of situation, anything could happen. Luckily you had a more friendly way of approaching. Plus, this Snorunt could be male, therefore it would end up being a huge waste of time batteling a male Snorunt if you prefered female.

As you stepped towards the two pokemon, their games came to an abrupt halt, both of them staring at you, emotionless. On closer inspection you noticed that both theese pokemon, were indeed, :female . The Snorunt was the first to react, come closer to you slightly and mouthing "Snorunt, runt runt snow!" The ice pokemon didn't seem to finish its speach to you before Swinub rushed infront of her, and pushed her back away from you. "Swinub, swine swine!" The little pokemon mouthed off to your desired Snorunt. Swinub then turned and glared at you intently. It seemed that Snorunt was a very playfull and friendly pokemon, however this Swinub seemed to be alot more aware of humans, and wasn't going to begin to trust you easy.

Snorunt now just looked at you, seemingly frightened as it stood, shaking behind Swinub who as you already knew was a tad tougher than upside-down cone. Well, looks like your going have to battle. Make a quick first move before the Swinub goes to town on that face of yours. Hey, who knows? That Snorunt doesn't look asif it wants to battle, you may be able to get a 2 on 1 situation here and come out victor with a fresh, unhurt Snorunt!

As the gamblers at the Goldenrod City casino would say, Jackpot! The Snorunt was not only a female like Silas wanted, but it even seemed friendly and willing to play with him. This would make capturing it a lot easier. Perhaps it would join him willingly! The Swinub, on the other hand, was not going to allow that to happen. Silas inwardly sighed, but took comfort in the fact that two on one was a heck of a lot easier than a two on two. Silas wanted to bring out Doduo and let his bird get some battle experience, but he knew that the Ice moves from the much more experienced Swinub would slaughter it. Best to stick with his two enforcers, Ekans and Pinsir.

"Alright, Swinub. You want to dance? Let's dance. Go. Ekans. Pinsir."

He threw the two Pokeballs out and in the bright flashes of light, his two loyal Pokemon stood ready for battle. Pinsir took one look at the Swinub and began to clack his horns together excitedly. Ekans hissed and glared intidatingly at the foe.

"Alright guys. Ekans, focus on your speed to get your moves in first, and then hit it with a Leer. Pinsir, while Ekans is weakening the Swinub, use Focus Energy to find its weak points. Then lock it up with your Vice Grip. After applying the pressure, I want you to slam it with Seismic Toss. Show it that we mean buisness, gentlemen."

"SIR!"

"KANSSSSS!"

While Silas folded his arms, he watched as his two powerful Pokemon prepared to get the battle underway.

So here the battle is! Let's get it started. Both your pokemon started by concentrating on stat boosting moves. Pinsir, focusing on the foe to find a weak spot, whilst your Ekans focused on its speed. Both done in time and Ekans was first to shoot on a glaring leer attack. Swinub shivered a little, also being effected by your pokemons intimidate. However, that did not stop the little swine pokemon, as it began to power up for an attack.

Pinsir was eager to get going however, and began to charge in for a vice grip as you ordered. However, before your bug type got there, Swinub began to unleash a ton of snow straight towards both your pokemon, Pinsir was agile enough to dive to the side, dodging the attack - and its a good job too seeing as bug types do not like the cold! Unfortunately, Ekans was hit by the powder snow. Your poor snake's whole body was covered by snow, and as a reaction this caused Ekan's coldest part - it's tail - to freeze over solid. Not a very good start for your poison type snake.

Pinsir quickly got up and continued charging. Thankfully that attack took Swinub's mind away from Pinsir. With its head charged downwards, Pinsir was able to grab Swinub between its two big horn, before clanking them together to crush the foe. Swinub began to scream in pain, it was abit painful to watch actually, poor thing.. Still, now you had an advantage! Pinsir jumped in the air, faced downwards and slammed Swinub into the ground with a siesmic toss, nice combination!

However, all was not over this round.. While that Snorunt may of been the friendly one of the two, do you think you, or any person/pokemon in the right mind would watch as a friend was beaten? Nah, I wouldn't anyway. As your Pinsir looked down and the hurt swine, it was quickly covered along its left side from a fury of snow. Snorunt was now in the game, and your Pinsir was now freezing cold.

Now the Snorunt appeared to join in on the fun. Silas frowned at his ill luck. Now he had a powerful opponent and one that his Pokemon could equal in levels. Normally he would try to fight the opponents in a two on two match-up to be fair, but the little pig Pokemon would demolish any one Pokemon sent up against it. His mind raced furiously for a second before a thought came to his head. He remembered how Yuki had dealt with the Miltank earlier, and realized that he had two more Pokemon he could use as well. This stupid Swinub cost him his easy capture of Snorunt. Time to take it all out. He didn't want to use Skorupi for battling purposes, but he might as well while it was available. He grabbed his two remaining Pokeballs and released his two Pokemon.

"Go. Doduo. Skorupi."

A blinding flash of white light revealed his other two Pokemon.

"Dooooo! Duoooo!"

"Ssssskor"

Now Silas had four Pokemon out to handle the two ice Pokemon. This battle needed to end. Fast. Snorunt could be handled one on one while the other three dismantled the Swinub.

"Skorupi, your job is to handle that Snorunt. Keep it from interfering with the other three. Hit it with a Leer, and then blast it with your Night Slash. After you send it reeling, follow up with a Poison Sting."

Silas switched his attention back over to the Swinub. That Powder Snow attack was annoying, but Silas took a small amount of comfort knowing that Doduo was the only Pokemon out with a type disadvantage and that it was also the fastest. Time to use Doduo's speed to his advantage. The other two could simply do what they usually did.

"Doduo! Use Quick Attack to get in there and hit it hard. Then get out of there and use Growl to lower the enemies' wills to fight. Ekans! Hit the Swinub with another Leer, and then blast it with your Poison Sting after Doduo gets clear. Pinsir, crush it with another Vice Grip and then slam it with your Seismic Toss again."

DoDuoo!
Pi!
Kansss!
PinSIR!

The other Pokemon may have the levels and experience on their side, but Silas knew he and his team had numbers, the passion for success, and teamwork on thiers. He would guide them through this battle, and many more to come. Time to see how the battle would unfold.

Well then, first reff back... And damn man, can someone call the cops on you? I call that raping that poor Swinub.. But hell, it would've raped you if the situation was switched. Now.. Onto reff!

The struggle was quick, for everyone moved almost at once. In a few seconds, Swinub lay before Pinsir, exhausted, while Ekans and Doduo stared it down. Skorupi and Snorunt were facing off bravely in their own little battle, as well. Let's analyse exactly WHAT just happened, shall we?

Doduo moved first, flying forward with god-like speed and striking Swinub with it's Quick Attack. It then followed up with it's Growl attack, taking down both Snorunt and Swinub's attack even further. Ekans then followed behind it, with it's own Growl. After, it began to charge for it's Poison Sting attack. Swinub, being faster through levels, was able to then fly into actual attacks.

First ramming Ekans with a Tackle attack, it followed up with a strong Powder Snow, right into Doduo. Ekans fired off it's barrage of poisoned needles into the pig, but it's ground type resistance to poison made the attack almost null. Pinsir then jumped at it, first clamping it's giant pincers onto the small ice pig, and squeazing it for as much life as it could. It then smashed it into the ground with a Seismic Toss, and left it to faulter.

Now it was Skorupi and Snorunt's turn. Skorupi shot forward first, Leering hard to take down the defense of the small ice hat Pokemon, and then slashing across it with a dark black aura across it's tail. Snorunt was thrown back by the force of the attack, but returned with it's Powder Snow. Skorupi shuttered as the cold hit it, but that was about all besides the little bit of damage. Not being able to do much more, it fired off it's own Leer attack, and lowered Skorupi's defense. Not that it would actually help it, though. Not having physical attacks can pretty much suck in some situations, like this. Tough luck little girlie.

PHEW, that was some action. Swinub was looking about down for the count, but Snorunt was still pretty good to go. Doduo took some heavy damage from that Powder Snow, but that was to be expected. Bad call on Ekans, though. Poison never does well against Ground. Maybe one could take advantage of the fact that an ice club has frozen itself onto the snake's tail? Before it sheds it off, atleast. Hell, this battle will probably be over if everyone uses damaging attacks twice. Just gotta plan ahead alittle more, yes?

It's a shame you only have one Pokeball, though. That swinub looks preeeeeeeetty potent. Carrying it might work... If it doesn't wake up on the way...

It wasn't perfect but it could be worse. Silas knew that the Swinub was on it's last legs. In fact, Doduo could probably finish it off on its own. If Silas only had more Pokeballs... A sudden loud beeping noise had interrupted his chain of thought. While the six Pokemon were in a Mexican Standoff, Silas looked down to his Poketech and examined an e-mail. Apparently he had been given a gift in the form of one... Murkrow?!? Silas' eyes widened. A rare Pokemon was suddenly thrust upon him. Apparently he would be able to go pick it up at a Pokemon Center. So he found his Snorunt and his Murkrow... things were certainly coming up lucky for Silas. This sudden good fortune spurred him back to the battle. He wished to wrap things up here as soon as possible. The gears in his mind began to whir as he examined the situation.

Doduo was clearly the fastest Pokemon here, and he could wail upon that crippled Swinub in a heartbeat. The Snorunt was feisty but when faced with the other three would probably fall quickly as well. Silas sighed, wondering if things would have been different if the Swinub hadn't forced the battle upon them. If he was going to walk out of here with one of the Pokemon, it was going to be the Snorunt. He reached at his belt for the one empty Pokeball and stared at the combatting Pokemon. Silas figured there was no time like the present. It was time to lead his team to victory.

"Let's try and wrap things up here, guys. Doduo. Hit the Swinub with two Quick Attacks. That should end that side. Ekans, hit the Snorunt with a Poison Sting, and then try to shatter the ice on your tail by smacking it on the head. Pinsir. Apply some crushing pressure with your Vice Grip and then slam it with your Seismic Toss. It's been working all day. Skorupi, try to slice it with your Night Slash, and if it's still standing then Bite it with your powerful jaws."

His four Pokemon nodded their five heads and lept into action. They kept their energy reserved for battling in the cold cave temperature. Silas wondered what he should do with the Swinub after the battle. He would feel a bit guilty if he just left it here, especially considering the Snorunt he was trying to capture appeared to be such good friends with it. Silas considered the Swinub's relative size, and decided that if he carried it with him he could get it healed and then let it do whatever it wanted to do. Besides, if he let Snorunt walk alongside him on the way back to Nogou then maybe she would see that her friend was ok afterall. Silas made the decision and waited for the next turn of events to unfold.

Out for another all-out raping of a Pokemon.... And the sad part is, unless this Snorunt magically becomes a ninja, there's no choice but to have it be raped... Well, just remember... Karma always catches up to you.

Doduo again started first, rushing in with super-sonic speed, and slamming into the little ground-pig. I'd say ground hog, but that's a different animal... Anyway, Doduo rushed in with a second before any movement could really be done, and took down the poor little piggie. Well, one down. One left....

Now... the onslaught begins. Ekans took off first, and fired a Poison Sting into the Snorunt. It hurt it some, but not much. Going in for it's next move, Ekans slammed it's frozen tail down onto the Snorunt, now acting as a nice club. The force of the hit shattered the ice, and freed the tail again. Since the attack was kinda Ice typed, it didn't do overly major damage to the Snorunt. Until Pinsir grabbed it from behind. After squeezing it, he slammed it into the earth in front of himself, and watched as the small ice hat Pokemon bounced.

Now..... Snorunt was getting mad at this point. Jumping up, it fired a Powder Snow at Skorupi as it charged a Night Slash. Skorupi was hit badly by it, but was still able to dash forward and throw it's tail at the Snorunt. However, little Snorunt managed to jump over the glowing black tail, and delivered another Powder Snow into the bug type. That's goooot to hurt. That, and the fact that a nice coat of ice was now encasing Skorupi. Awh, crapsicles.

Skorupi getting frozen was bad news... The good news was, this battle is over next turn. One little Snorunt, barely clinging to consiousness, is no match for three other opponents. Looks kinda good for you still, huh?

Head of Registration - The Exploding Train
Silas felt bad that all of his Pokemon were ganging up on the little Snorunt. While the gang-up was necessary for the more powerful Swinub, this little ice hat Pokemon didn't deserve this. Silas called out to Ekans and Doduo, knowing what he had to do.

"Ekans. Doduo. Get back behind me and Focus on your Defense. You both did a good job today. Skorupi too, after we erm thaw him out."

Silas reached into his bag and pulled out the Oran Berry he recieved earlier. He tossed it at the Snorunt's feet.

"Eat that, little warrior. It won't heal all of your wounds, but it should give you a fighting chance at least. I'm sorry it turned out like this. I really just wanted to be friendly and play with you, but your pal there had other ideas. Needless to say after the battle, if you end up joining forces with us, I won't just strand your friend. I'll get her to a Pokecenter as well as everyone else involved in the scrap. If you still want to fight, I'll understand. Just understand, if you do choose to continue the battle with Pinsir, neither he nor I will be holding back."

"Sir Pin Pin!"

Pinsr happily clacked his horns together and flexed his arms. This was his element anyway: a one on one battle to the finish. He was much happier fighting solo with Silas than in a huge group. Pinisr merely saw every battle as a chance to test his own strength.

"Pinsir, if it does end up battling, then I want you to slam it with the Vice Grip and Seismic Toss combo. Then, if it's still standing, smack it with a Strike."

Silas watched the Snorunt to see what it would do. It may not have been the brightest idea, or even one most trainers call sane, but he didn't care. He felt better knowing the Snorunt would at least get to make its own decision in the matter.

Well...... Healing the opponent. Valiant, I'll give you that. You could probably say you healed your bad karma.... I think...

The Snorunt was skeptical at first, but crept uo to the Oran Berry after a minute or two, and devoured it. That gave it a nice little boost back to power. It then took a battle stance, obviously getting prepared for the fight that you mentioned. Sure, it's freind had started the battle. But, she's not going to look like the wimp and forefeit, is she now?

The rest of Silas's party backed up behind him and Focused to Defense, except for Skorupi, which was still covered in ice. One question..... What physical move is on Snorunt? It only has Powder Snow as a damaging attack.... All those +1 defenses don't really help much... Maybe Focusing to SP. Defense would have been a better choice? Unless you plan on having them start hitting each other... Then Defense would be pretty nice. But... There's not much point in that, either.

Snorunt got started, sending a chilling Powder Snow at the giant beetle. Pinsir took a full hit from the attack, and after the dust cleared, his arm had been frozen. Not good... But better then a complete freezing. Not like he used his arms to attack anyway, right? Maybe if they didn't defrost to fast... They may help in a tutor move... Oh no, wait, I lied. Pinsir can't learn any ice attacks. OH WELL. Using them as frozen clubs still work.

Pinsir then jumped in with his attack. Clamping onto the Snorunt, it squeazed it tightly in it's spiked pincers, then slammed it to the ground in a Seismic Toss. The Snorunt still had a bit of energy left in it, and fired another Powder Snow at Pinser, freezing his other arm this time. Getting tired of the cold air blasts, Pinsir jumped forward, and smacked the Snorunt across the face with it's horns. The Strike was ahrd, but the Snorunt still managed to cling on to it's last bit of life.

So now, this battle is almost up. Pinsir and Doduo took a few heavy hits, but you were still looking pretty good. Alot better then the opponents...

So, what will you do now?
