As you stepped onto the streets of Kijutsu, you could feel a fresh breeze lightly wrap around your ankles and cool you. Kijustsu is one of the region's principle cities because of its economic purpose in Alternia. It provides the other towns in the region with technological goods and other modern gadgets and technologies. So basically you made a good choice in selecting your city; lets just try not to get you into any trouble while your here. So now you were in this region with your Pokemon, ready to start a new life of stealing and theft. You'd need time to adapt to the changes of the area but it shouldn't take too long really. People were generally quite slow when it came to noticing people watching them. This would be a piece of cake, maybe you could try to steal some cake too? No, in the industrial town of Kijutsu you should be going for the bigger things! Anyway, there are many things that you can do here. Go to the park, look for a job, you could even look for pokemon that inhabit urban areas. Though, some pokemon like Grimer aren't always nice to have around. However, there are plenty of other things to do as well including finding another pokemon trainer and battling him or her for glory, honor, and the right to rub it in their face if your opponent loses. Remember though, battling is just as much physical as it it mental. Fair warning if you choose the path of the warmongerer. In fact look over there I see a Ralts! Do you want to fight it? Jack turned towards the Ralts and his instincts quickly took over. With lightning quick speed, his hand sped for the lone pokeball on his belt. He clamped onto the ball like a Cloyster and with a jerk ripped the ball straight from his belt. As he was winding up to throw the ball he remembered something in mid stride. "The Lottery!" I need to pick my numbers for the weekly lottery," Jack said aloud to himself. Jack lifted up his left wrist were his Poketech was located. He began to search through the device. "Lottery-Lottery-Lottery, ahh there it is, Zaroff Weekly Lottery." "Ok, I think 5-13-19-21-29, Ok, enter." "There we go, numbers picked, now lets get to the battle." Once again Jack snatched the ball. He began to have flash backs of times when he was little and his dad would take him out and let him watch his battles. Jacks dad would explain every attack and counter attack. He would explain all of the strategy involved in the battle. Jack played his fathers words through his head. With the wisdom of his father he hatched a plan. With his plan now in place he followed all the way through and tossed the ball to the ground. With a snap and a blinding white flash a battle ready Pinsir emerged onto the battle site. Pinsir grined at Jack as if he already knew what Jack was going to say. Pinsir turned towards the Ralts, and just as he faced the Ralts, Jack Blurted out the first command. "Pinsir, Vicegrip on Ralts." Edited by Jackpot, Jun 6 2009, 12:02 PM.

In front of you was a Ralts, looking around like it really didn’t know where it was. It seemed to be lost. One foot-at least you were pretty sure it was a foot- stepped on a piece of gum. Ralts looked down and tried to pull its “foot” out of the gum, a look of disgust on its face…well, from its body language you thought the look was disgust anyways. It was kind of hard to tell since Ralts’s eyes were hidden under its hair. Eventually it managed to free its foot and looked around once more, finally catching sight of you and Pinsir. “Ralts!” it cried, half in surprise and half in fear…okay, maybe more like mostly fear with a hint of surprise. Neither one of you looked terribly friendly. His fears were confirmed when Pinsir charged towards him, pincers clanging together menacingly. “R-ralts!” he cried, leaping aside just in time to avoid Vicegrip. He tried to use Growl, but was too frightened; what came out was a strange little sound that made Pinsir want to laugh more than anything else. This puny pokemon wasn’t even putting up a fight! What an easy win this would be! Although you hadn’t told it to, Pinsir decided to use a second Vicegrip. He charged in close to Ralts, bent down, and clamped its pincers around the Psychic-type’s soft body. More and more pressure was put on poor Ralts as Pinsir squeezed, trying to knock it out quickly. Scared as it was, Ralts responded to the pain by using an actual attack: Confusion. Focusing all his thoughts on getting free, Ralts projected various images into Pinsir’s head, confusing it. Pinsir couldn’t really tell what the heck was going on and released Ralts. As it hit the ground, Ralts’s focus was broken and the attack was ended. The damage had been down though; Pinsir’s attack had failed and now it was confused. Still, victory was not out of reach…unless Ralts made a run for it while Pinsir was confused. Jack had a look of amazement on his face as his jaw dropped to the ground. He couldnt believe that such a strong attack could come from a seemingly lost and harmless Ralts. He couldnt get it through his thick skull that a little Ralts just fended off his big Pinser. The thing just stepped in gum and it managed to pull of this amazing attack. Not only was it damaging but it confused Pinsir too. Jack now knew that he had to have this Ralts. But how? The tide of this battle had shifted into Ralts' favor. Jack mindlessly rushed into battle and now he was paying the price. Now he had to alter his plan and shift the battle back into his favor, and he knew just what to do. "Pinser snap out of it. Your confused. You have to wake up," Jack encouraged Pinser. "You have to shake it off, its our only chance. Remember who the target is. Its Ralts. Dont let the confusion cloud your senses." JAck's brain kicked into high gear as he began to think harder and harder. His mind was like a huge steam turbine, cranking out ideas. JUst then the old turbine turned out an idea that stuck. Jack grabbed an empty pokeball from his backpack and gripped on to it. "Pinser, Ill try to stall the Ralts as long as I can," Jack said. "So please hurry. You have to gather your wits quickly, and as soon as you can use Bind on Ralts." "Maybe the gum on the bottom of Ralts' foot will make him stick to the inside of the pokeball," Jack thought to himself. "Well its worth a try." Jack raised the pokeball and hurled it towards the Ralts. |

The Burning Blade Alchemist

Jack enlarged the tiny Pokéball into hand size, and roughly tossed the Pokéball at the young Ralts. The Pokéball struck the Ralts in the head... how could you? throwing objects at small, defenseless Pokémon! Oh wait, that's how it works. Well, the ball goes back, opens up, and sends out a red beam at the Ralts. It envelopes Ralts, turning Ralts into red energy and drawing him back into the ball, virtualized and contained. The small dot on the Pokéball lit red and the Ralts struggled against the technological barrier placed around it's now digital body. Meanwhile Pinsir struggled to regain full control of his body. Pinsir flexed its big claws and flexed, trying to get his body to follow his thoughts. Pinsir strained, the adrenaline flowed through his body, he did the equivalent of however bugs would sweat, or relieve themselves of body heat. Finally, Pinsir broke though the mental barrier in his mind and regained control. However, Ralts is still struggling inside Jack's tossed Pokéball. The red dot glowed brightly and the ball rolled back and forth as Ralts attempted to break free. However, the red dot faded, and made a familiar sound that Pokéballs always make when they succeed. Your Pokétech lit with information as it automatically does when you catch a new Pokémon. Lv. 5 Height: 1ft 4in Weight: 14.6lbs Ralts, the Feeling Pokémon. Ralts senses the emotions of people using the horns on its head. This Pokémon rarely appears before people. But when it does, it draws closer if it senses the person has a positive disposition. Well, you've managed to luck yourself into an easy catch. What do you do now? ((NOTE: No EXP awarded, battle didn't last long enough nor was enough damage done to have been a particularly enlightening experience.)) |

Jack clicked his poketech off and walked over to the pokeball. Jack bent down and picked up the ball that now contained Ralts, the newest member of Jacks team. A stream of emotions flowed through Jacks body. This was his first successful battle and capture. His plans and strategies all worked. He didnt fold under pressure when Pinsir was confused, and Pinsir attacked with great precision. The excited Jack pushed the button on the pokeball. The ball grew to normal size and cracked open. A beam of bright white light shot out and the goofy little Ralts appeared before Jack. Jack smiled at Ralts as it stood before him. Jack knew from the Poketech explenation that Ralts picked up on its trainers happiness. "Hey Ralts welcome to the team. We are on our journey through Alternia." Then Jack grabbed his other pokeball and released Pinsir. "Pinsir, this is Ralts, hes one of us now so treat him kindly. He is going to help us reach our goals." Jack sat down as Pinsir and Ralts got to know each other. He watched happily as they ran around and played whatever games Pinsirs and Ralts play. He was happy to see them playing because he believed that the team needed to be close. They needed to have team chemistry. After a little while Jack called the two back to their pokeballs. It was time to get moving. He threw his backpack on and went on the march once again. Edited by Jackpot, Jun 11 2009, 09:13 AM.

'On the march', huh? Well, that's certainly the spirit for somebody of your background. I only hope that next time you might actually have a specific direction in mind, instead of aimlessly marching around, but I guess that I can choose for you this time. Just don't make a habit of it, because you could end up backtracking, or going into the girl's locker room or going around in circles, or going around in circles, or going arou-- oops! So... Kijutsu. Yep... that's about all I've got to say on that. I mean... it's boring. It's just a big city with grey footpaths, grey buildings, grey sky (yes, even in summer), grey pants and coats, grey ties... hell, even some of the PEOPLE are grey. Actually... that guy doesn't look so good..... ah - he'll be fine! So there you were, justa walkin' down the street (singin' doo-wa-diddy?), mindin' your own business... and nothing much happened. Seriously... you were just having a normal walk down the street. What did you expect? That you would just be randomly attacked by yet another urban dwelling Pokémon for no good reason? Well I hate to break it to you kid, but life's not all chocolate and candy! Sometimes you have to work for your supper. So, after an invigorating walk through the not so fresh air of the city, you soon find yourself in the outskirts. There wasn't a whole lot out here other than the sort of residential subburbs, and of course the road out of town. In truth, it was more of a road that runs along the outside of Kijutsu City than a road actually running into Kijutsu, but it served the purpose. Looking one way down the road was much the same as looking the other way, but by checking the sign you realized that one branch would take you inland towards the Joukai Pass, while the other would take you along the coastline. There was nothing going on right here, but there was plenty of stuff for you to be doing. You could head back into the city and find some boring person wearing grey to talk to, or you could stay here. You might want to search around for some more Pokémon, or train the ones that you've got. A walk along the ocean might be nice, and I hear that there's a tournament in progress in Joukai. It's already started, but it might be fun to go watch, and there would certainly be food and stuff there, so that's be pretty fun. Anyway, it's your choice. Oh, and you've probably realized that I didn't actually give you anything in this ref... well, deal with it. Sometimes life's just boring, and you need to make your own fun. This is one of those times. Like I said... work for your supper! |

Jack stopped at the fork in the road and began to contimplate which way to go. He read the sign again. One way pointed towards Joukai Pass and the other towards the coast. Jack started to way the options of his travel. He had three options. He could turn around and go back to the city from which he came, go visit Joukai Pass, or go to the coast. Jack eliminated the first option right away. There was no way he was going back to that filthy city. Looking back at the city he could see the cloud of smog that engulfed the city. He hadnt been able to breath right since the first time he took his first step in Kijutsu. The smell of the city was still embedded in the fibers of his clothes and backpack. It smelled something like a cross between exhaust fumes and rotten eggs. The smell wasnt the only thing to get to him. He was also afraid to drink the water here. So the city was not an option. The second option was Joukai Pass. The Tournament of Aegis was being held at Joukai. Jack colud go watch the tournament but watching would just make him want to be in it even more. Watching all of the trainers and their Pokémon battling for first place would just make him more anxious. So it looked like Joukai Pass was out of the question too. So through the process of elimination, the only way left to go was to the coast. This was the best option. Jack could take a swim in the ocean and rinse out the stinch of the city. Jack headed down the path towards the coast. He couldnt wait to smell the fresh ocean breeze. It would be heaven compared to the thick dirty air of Kijutsu. He was so excited about the ocean that he began to sprint down the path that lead to the coast. |

The past shapes up, but we shape the future.

Although the road sign had mentioned the two locations Jack could travel to, they forgot to mention the fact that traveling to both places would be a trek. To get to Joukai Pass one would have to travel down the rough terrain of Route Two. To find yourself in the other location mentioned on the road sign, the Shore, one would have to take the lengthy walk down Route Three. The choices both required walking, but it seemed to Jack that getting out of this slum hole he found himself in was quintessential. With a decision that he might or might not regret, Jack headed out of the Kijutsu City Outskirts, and soon found himself on the smooth terrain of Route Three. Hopefully this trip will be smooth-sailing. Jack carried on toward the place his had in sight, passing by nothing but grasslands for as far as the eye could see. Everything was flat, which made it easy to see far, but there was nothing really to see. Everything seemed kind of bland, which wasn't what a trainer's journey should be like. Yes, Jack still has quite a bit of a hike ahead of him for something interesting to happen, but besides the sun poking out behind a cloud and the wind at a slight breeze, there were really no environmental factors that would alter the trip in any way. It's been about three hours of non-stop walking, and Jack could still not see anything in the distance that seems like it would be the coast of Alternia. Perhaps he underestimated how long this adventure would take him -or maybe it didn't bother the trainer that he's still walking to find this location that was said to be right there by the road sign. Wait...traveling for hours without seeing sight of anything, following a road sign that has been there for who knows how long...As much as anyone would hate to admit this, it's a possibility that Jack might be lost. And being lost would not be good. The sun was at about a seventy-three degree angle off the horizontal surface of the earth, and seemed like it would be setting within a matter of a few short hours. It's uneasy to say if Jack would meet his destination before that time, but there's always the chance he won't- how horrible that would be. Then again it was the trainer's choice to leave the city to whereabouts unknown without the proper gear for survival in the wild. Maybe this would be a chance for him to test his pioneering skills. Speaking of testing skills, there seemed to be a wild Pokémon ahead! From the looks of it, the creature was probably one foot or so standing on its hind legs like it was, and had ears so big they probably added a foot to his height right there. The Pokémon seemed to be a purple color, and the inside of its massive ears were a dark green shade. At first it didn't notice Jack, but soon after he continued taking footsteps toward it the Pokémon hopped down onto all fours and began charging Jack. The Pokémon seemed to be priming for an attack, seeing as its forehead -which apparently housed a horn -was glowing with a source of white energy. With some quick judgment Jack could probably sort this out, but the wrong step might leave the trainer hanging. :nidoranm Level 7 |

Jack noticed the purple glare headed straight for him. Jack's instincts quickly took over and without thinking he dove into the tall grass on the side of the path. He quickly flipped up to his feet. By now Jack could tell that he was dealing with a Nidoran. He knew that Ralts would be a perfect choice because of Nidorans psycic weakness. Jack grabbed a pokeball from his side and tossed it onto the path. With a blinding white flash the newly aquired Ralts stood on the path waiting for its commands. Jack realized that he had to act quick in order to give Ralts the best possible chance to land a hit. The Nidoran was already on the offensive. So, before any time could pass, jack issued out a Confusion attack command to Ralts. Jack had no idea what he had done, but he had obviously had done something to make this Nidoran mad. He had done something during his travels that caused this Pokémon to attack. Now it was time to test their battling skills out in the wild. Until now they had only battled in the city. He was now in an unfamiliar environment that his Pokémon and he had to learn to fight in. Jack looked around and scanned the surroundings. He was looking for anything in the area to launch a strategy and win this battle. But all he could see was flat grassland. Thats when Jack remembered, Ralts isnt big like Pinsir, Ralts is little. Small enough to disappear, maybe. Thats when he put his plan into motion. "Ralts, after you use Confusion, duck into the grass and hide away from Nidoran. If he locates you just move around. Dont stay in one place. Just keep using Confusion from the grass." |

Once you issued your battle commands for Ralts, the round had begun. Ralts bowed his head until it touched the sandy ground and then a deep purple aura began to form around his helmet of a head. The Nidoran, still rushing at top speed towards your Ralts still standing, not even moving or twitching a single limb or muscle. Finally, the Ralts's purple aura had spread around it's entire body and then it released the aura in the form of a missile which traveled the the ten yards all the way until it disappeared into the Nidoran's thick forehead. The Nidoran was expecting a physical attack in the form of a punch or kick, so it did not have time to block its mind from a mental attack. The aura broke the mental defensive wall and entered the cerebellum, which then the Ralts had full access to all the Nidoran's brain activity. The Nidoran then switched the direction of its run so it circled Ralts and then raced directly north into the direction of a giant oak tree. The earth slightly shook as the Nidoran smashed into the base of the oak tree head-on. It seemed as though Ralts played with the Nidoran's mind and then found it's nervous system control. He then issued a bodily command to not attack the Ralts, but miss it completely and then attack the oak tree. This original Confusion attack of Ralts could prove quite useful in the future, wouldn't it? The Nidoran lay completely still in the tall grass covering the battleground. It's bruised head was rested on the trunk of the big oak, and the rest of its body twitched violently. Could the Nidoran possibly have been knocked out from such a direct blow to the skull? The answer was almost clear until the Nidoran lifted its tiny hind legs off the ground and slowly helped itself up. Ralts quickly dove into the grass, expecting another sudden charge from the Nidoran. However, the Nidoran began a slow, peaceful trot away from the tree. It seemed to be enjoying the walk and didn't even care about the current battle situation. Just about every few feet it trotted, it stumbled and crashed onto the ground, but was determined to get up every fall. Suddenly, it's deep crimson eyes shifted directly towards Ralts. You then realized that Ralts's green helmet head was slightly sticking out of the grass, so it was not completely camouflaged. I suggest you issue your next battle order quickly, or else you'll have quite a headbutt for Ralts to deal with. Jack was amazed at the strength Ralts portrayed. He had no idea that Ralts was so strong. He couldnt believe that something so small could command such power. Since the grass was just to short for even Ralts to hide in, Jack had to think of a new strategy. Jack looked over at the Nidoran who was staring at Ralts. Jack had to think quick before the Nidoran could shake away the rest of the cobb webs and attack. Jack began to draw up strategies in his head. He played the ideas through trying to decide which would be best. After witnessing the display of power just the round before, Jack knew he had to do something else with Confusion. He began to think of the round before. Ralts was able to manipulate the Nidoran by infiltrating its mind with its confusion attack. Then inside its mind Ralts was able to tap into the central nervous system of the Nidoran and control its movements. Jack knew this battle would be won if Ralts could infiltrate into Nidorans brain again. Jack was now ready to make his next move. "Ralts hop out of the grass. The Nidoran can see you. Stand in front of the tree and wait for Nidoran to make its move. Then when Nidoran comes at you launch another Confusion just like before. Get inside its brain and shut down its legs, causing it to crash out of control into the tree." |

Well this was a pretty nice match up, a Ralts that new Confusion against a bruised Nidoran. Lets just hope that your attack strategy would be able to come through in this round or else. The Nidoran that you were battling seemed to grow and consume anger by the second and soon it managed to rip off all of the cob webs that was keeping it trapped and unable to move. The Nidoran swung its head up, preparing to make up for lost time and then charged. Thankfully however you had your own little attack strategy prepped up to take down the Nidoran once and for all or at least this turn anyway. Your attack plan was to have your Ralts use Confusion to once again take control of the Nidoran. That didn't sound like a bad idea at all and perhaps maybe you can steer the Pokemon into a area full of nesting Beedrill or something like that; that would sure be a nasty surprise to the little purple horned Pokemon when he regains control of his body. Of course you weren't evil or at least evil enough to pull something as dirty and sneaky like that...were you? Ralts now issued out your commands, leaping out of the grass were the Nidoran could see him and thankfully things worked out for you. Nidoran was so outraged about being immobilized and having to take those Confusions that it charged at you full force, aiming at your little Ralts horn first. Ouch, if that attack managed to get a hit it would probably poison your little psychic friend. Thankfully Ralts managed to get a hold of the Poison Point Pokemon before hand and stop its attack. Ralts did exactly what you said, using its Confusion to get to the Nidoran's mind once more. Nidoran was now standing motionless and was once again in your grasp. Things went your way this turn but you had to be careful, little Ralts was huffing and puffing from the rapid Confusion attacks he had made. Jack noticed his small Ralts getting tired from all of the confusions it had been dishing out. The bad thing about it though was that Ralts were capable of doing much more than just using Confusion, well other than growling at its opponent. What really sucked about it though was that Confusion was Nidorans weakness. Jack however knew that he was going to have to try to stay away from the confusions, at least for this round that is so Ralts could rest up a bit. Jack tried to plan another strategy in his head, one that didn’t involve confusion. Jack began to think up all of the known attacks that his Ralts could or should be able to do. He knew that he had Growl and Confusion. Other than that he should be able to just use normal attacks someone or something would use if it was in a battle like intimidate its opponent or punch them. Jack looked down at his Poketech and clicked on an ad that read Global Attack List. The page then filled up with a list of attacks that were said to be usable by ‘any’ Pokémon. “Yeah we will see how true that is,” Jack said to himself. Jack looked down at the list and used it to make a small plan. If Ralts could strike Nidoran in its bruised part of its head, it could do some good damage. It had to work. “Ok Ralts, use Growl and then Strike Nidoran in the bruised part of its head!” Jack yelled out to his Pokémon. |

The past shapes up, but we shape the future.

Ever since that little Nidoran had first been spotted it seemed that he had a bone to pick with Jack and his partner for who knows what reason. The strategy it was trying to imply wasn't exactly working out; It seems brute force doesn't always win everything. His endurance, though, was keeping him going. The Ralts he was facing of course had the elemental advantage, but that didn't mean he would win the battle that easily. The ability to use Confusion in the way he had been doing was taking a toll on him mentally, which was not good. Especially since it was the emotion Pokemon's main focus of attack. The whole "mind missile manipulation" attack was cool and all, but maintaining it seemed to take a great toll on the young Ralt's who was in control of it. Quickly did the human trainer who was in control of that Ralts realized that he needed to keep his little psychic from damaging himself anymore. A new set of orders were launched, these including nothing of a Confusion attack. Nidoran became aware of this and quickly sought after his own battle plan. The little rat began to draw energy to his head, Focusing energy for a Headbutt. Ralts wasn't going to let this battle out of his hands, however. He quickly got to launching his Growl, which ended in Nidoran's attempt to Focus his attack failing. The Ralts saw this was his window to attack and quickly charged in to do so. As he ran toward the little purple enemy, it mimicked his movements and did the same. The Nidoran launched his head toward Ralts into a Peck attack. The end result was Nidoran's speed had allowed him to topple his enemy first, damaging the Ralts a bit with the Peck. At the same time, however, Ralts remembered his command for strike and hit the little purple Pokemon right in the belly. It let out a small yelp, but nothing serious. It's obvious that physical attacks are not the emotion Pokemon's strong point. There was this thing about battling, which was being perfectly highlighted here. Yes, one could give guidance to their Pokemon by telling them what moves to execute, but it's not always as easy for the Pokemon to do as their human's say just from a few blunt words. Not all Pokemon are battle masters from the getgo, and most need description, influence and most of all confidence to help them land attacks powerfully. If a trainer is able to give their Pokemon all of that along with specific commands to execute they shouldn't even have a reason to be unsuccessful when it comes to attacking, or even dodging their opponents.
