[ journey start ] They say that technology both advances and hinders mankind. That we take great steps forward, yet lose the things most essential to us ... and so end up moving backwards instead. But talk is cheap and not nearly as interesting as taking a walk on the beach with your Solrock. So here you were. Even though you might not have expected to see very many electronic items so close to a body of water, it was an unwritten rule that Millenia citizens were attached at the hip to their latest gadgets. Pretty girls in bikinis spent less time playing beach volleyball and more time texting on their brightly colored cell phones. Surfers ran into the waves with their iPods encased in waterproof coverings so they could rock out while they cruised the water. Even the snooty business-types could be seen with their laptops. In fact, out of everyone here, it seemed only one person had better things to do than plug in to the interwebs. A redheaded girl who looked to be about your age could be seen standing on the beach with her Mankey, shouting like a drill sergeant. As you passed her, you overheard a bit of her conversation. "... only when the enemy is at half health! Is this understood, greenhorn?!" she yelled. "Man! KEY!" the little monkey-pig hybrid squeaked back, his arm raised in a kind of salute to his trainer. And as if this wasn't odd enough, the girl had noticed you and pointed at you boldly. "You there, punk! I challenge you to take part in our pre-Battle Camp warmup!" she declared, "Think you can handle that, kid?!" It seemed she wanted to fight you. Whether you wanted to accept her challenge or not, well, that's up to you and you alone. What'll it be? Lv5

I was starting to think that I may have hurt the wrong persons Pokémon. Not because I was scared of her or because she was a good trainer, but rather the fact that she was starting to seem like a pretty awesome person. Well, and the fact that she had a Skarmory helped. She was smart and really pretty, and she could have easily smashed me into the dirt with her large steel-type Pokémon. It made me wonder what else I didn't know about her. I smiled at her as I searched my brain for something to say. I didn't want to seem to annoying or anything, but I had to get to know this girl more. I was seriously thinking about asking her if she would like to journey together, but right now didn't seem like the perfect time to do that. I didn't want to seem like a stalker. I stuck my hands in my pockets, and tried to relax for a moment. "I am sorry you know, sometimes when I get into battle, I go a little, crazy," I found myself saying. I never had trouble talking to girls before, but she was different some how. I wasn't sure what it was either, but it made me want to keep talking. "So, how long have you been a Trainer?" I asked. I flashed another small grin at the girl. Edited by Grimer3739, Jun 7 2009, 11:46 AM.

Phasing Flashback Defender Vigilance
|
The two of you walked side by side along the paved road of Millenia. It was a rather wide road, being the closest thing the town had to a main street. A salty gust of wind, newly born from the tumultuous throws of the nearby ocean, blew across your face. It mischievously played with your guide's brilliantly colored hair, tossing the strands about frivolously. The girl ran her finger through the side of her hair, pushing it out of her face. Her soft features were accentuated by the bright light of the sun shining down from high above. Your Solrock floated evenly behind both of you. It seemed affected by neither the air nor the heat of its namesake. It did not give any sign that it was listening in on your conversation with the redhead. In fact, it appeared to have taken very little interest in its surroundings at all, as if it was following two humans on a whim, rather than because one of them was its trainer. Maybe it was concerned with more important matters than small talk. Perhaps it was pondering the greater questions of life, attempting to solve that which has plagued human and Pokemon alike from the dawn of time with its superior, psychic-powered intelligence. Then again, it may have just been zoning out from boredom. The girl eyed you somewhat suspiciously as she considered your question. She looked ahead, glancing at the Pokemon Center that was growing ever closer. Then, deciding that it was, indeed, a harmless one, she responded with “I've been a trainer for a few weeks now. Why what's it to you?” Her tone revealed that your apology hadn't really done much to gain her favor. |

Archie sighed. This girl would not let anything go. Archie started to think maybe this was a lost cause, and that she was probably never going to give in and accept his apology. Archie looked around and then looked back at the girl. She was the type of girl that looked all sweet and innocent, but once you start talking to her, she makes you look like the one that's sweet and innocent. "It was just a harmless question," Archie smiled. "No need to bite my head off," he laughed. Archie looked down at the long road the two had been walking along. Man this Pokémon Center seems far away.. he thought to himself. He needed to hurry and get there. He needed a break from this girl and her 'attitude' or whatever you want to call it. She sure wasn't the type of girl you would expect to find down by the beach. But then again, she did have a Mankey and a Skarmory. Archie looked back at his Solrock. The face on Solrock's body made Archie jump back a little. The Solrock like always remained emotionless looking, which on first glance, it a little scary. Archie and smiled at the floating sun-like creature, and turned to face the girl once again. "So. Once we get to the Pokémon Center, I was going to continue out on my journey. I was wondering that since you are a Trainer to, maybe we could team up and go together?" Archie said to the girl. Now Archie wanted to slap himself in the face. That sounded so stupid, now she probably thought he was a creep. He tried to cover it up by flashing her a smile. |

Awww, look at the lovely little couple. Yall looked so cute together, although, from the conversation, it wasn't cute at all. The people passing by mistaked you both for a couple, and the girl turned as you asked her your question. It was an immediate response, and from what I can tell, you thought it was going to be a negative one. Well, if you thought that, then, you were right! "Hmph. As if I would ever journey with a scumbag like you!" She exclaimed, looking at you in disgust. She really was one to hold grudges, but hey, some guys like 'em feisty, and hopefully you do to. The people from the crowd hadn't heard anything that was being said, and infact, the people passing by still thought you were a couple. The girl immediatly asked a question as soon as she was done saying her first. "Why would you even want to journey with me anyways?" She questioned, letting out a scoff. The Solrock still floated behind you two, and the Solrock was paying attention to none of your conversation as stated before. He just wanted to go and get healed! The girl kept on going with her barrage of answers, and she said, "Well, regardless of your answer, I suppose I could use an extra trainer around that I could train on, so sure..." She hated to admit it, but you seemed strong to her, and she could always have someone strong around to train with her. Who knows, maybe, in the future, you two could become great friends, or something more... regardless, the Pokemon Center was now in front of you, and the Skarmory was waiting in front with Mankey on its back. The Skarmory was waiting for her to come before further instructions. Edited by Hasekura, Jun 13 2009, 12:00 PM.

Archie smiled, and tried to cover the feeling he was getting inside his stomach by looking back at his Solrock and trying not to turn too red. He couldn't believe she actually said yes. He at least thought it would be a little harder than it was, but he wasnt complaining, he was about to be traveling with a cute red head. And on top of that, she had some great Pokémon skills. Can you say all around win! Archie looked back at the girl with the same wide smile. "Great," he said managing to stop smiling long enough to say. He didn't want to seem to excited, and look like a pushover or a creep, but he also didn't want her to think it was no big deal. He was the one who proposed the idea after all. It was beginning to get to the point where he wasn't able to cover it up anymore. As the couple made it to the Pokémon Center where the Skarmory was waiting, Archie turned to face the girl once more. "Are you ready?" Archie asked politely to the girl, trying to get some extra gentlemen points. Archie flashed another smile at the girl, and it was now obvious that he was really trying to get her to forgive him. It was just then that Archie began to remember something. He remembered that he had never gotten the girls name. Thinking it was quite funny that he was about to start a whole new adventure with the girl and he didnt even know her name, he began to laugh. "Oh by the way. I dont think I ever got your name," Archie chuckled as they readied themselves to go inside. Edited by Grimer3739, Jun 14 2009, 12:59 AM.

The great steel bird cawed much like a maniac, tossing his head backwards as well as his wings. It was a good thing that he had rather good balance as well as control – if he didn’t, we might just have a flying pig-monkey hurtling through the air! As both of you stopped before the Pokémon Center, Skarmory lowered his head at once in a graceful bow to his master. It seemed that the redhead – man, are you going to ask her name, or not – had instilled a good sense of respect in both of her Pokémon. You were pretty smart in deciding to team up with her: if you were going to survive, you needed a strong Trainer … like her! Well, um, maybe that ‘ready’ statement wasn’t the best thing to say. Yeah, sure, she had her soft side, but it wasn’t going to show that easy. She’d accidentally allowed you a glimpse of her softer side – if she was going to show it to you repeatedly, you’d pretty much know how to get the upper hand of her! She was smart, and she wasn’t going to let you forget that fact in a hurry. Oh, by the way, her temper wasn’t like a lake either … it was more like the sea. Bad metaphors and analogy aside, let’s actually get to the response that she was giving you, hmm? As you smiled at her, the girl let out a small laugh, which sounded suspiciously like a masked scoff. She forced a smile at you, looking at you through her eyes calmly. “Only one who isn’t ready will say such words,” said the redhead with a confident smirk. Hoo boy – this little journey between the two of you was getting better and better by the minute, or seconds if you like, don’t you think? Not only was there some debating, there was also some drama! I daresay you’d give some of the dramas a run for their money … but as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. This start to your tag-journey might seem all fair and nice, yet you don’t know what was waiting for you at the next corner … don’t say it’s the Pokémon Center, because we all know that’s the thing at the corner. Let’s just place the lame joke to one dim corner and get on with the show. Mankey let out a whimper when his Trainer smirked at you. Meanwhile, Solrock merely continued hovering where it was, completely bored out of its mind, but unable to project this particular emotion that it was feeling into its eyes, or body language. I suppose it would be rather hard, seeing as it’s made up of rock … more rock … and spikes. If Solrock had the chance to roll its eyes, it would, actually. Skarmory merely continued standing where he was, his existence seemingly devoted to fulfill his Trainer’s wishes. … We still haven’t got her name yet, have we? “Come to think of it, I haven’t got your name either,” she said, her eyes trained on you, “However, I’ll tell you mine, lest you soil yourself out of sheer anticipation.” Well, it seemed that she not only was strong-willed, she had a rather sharp tongue too. Ouch, seriously … that might have hurt just a little … but as to whether it would get to you, is entirely up to you, no matter how strange that statement might have sounded. “The name’s … Adrian. Some people, like Stan back there, liked to call me Addie, but I prefer Adrian.” Okay, you got her name, and she was walking into the Pokémon Center, Skarmory as well as Mankey in her wake. Even though you might not need the healing (hey, it’s just an assumption), the constant air-conditioning of the structure would be welcome in this weather. And with this, the future is entirely up to you, Archie! |

Archie shook his head and smiled, before walking into the Pokémon Center. He couldn't believe how confident and sarcastic a girl could be. Well at least now he knew the name of the pushy girl, and wouldn't need to reffer to her as 'red head' anymore. That probably wouldn't make her feel any better anyway if he had to call her 'Hey redhead!'. Archie looked back at his Solrock who was still floating there bored to death by all of the talking. The only bad thing was that Archie had no idea for sure that it was bored. "Come on, lets go get healed so we can continue out on our journey," Archie said. Solrock continued to stare at Archie, and then floated passed him and into the doors of the Pokémon Center. Finally maybe Solrock had gotten his point acrossed. Archie laughed and followed his Pokémon into the Pokémon Center. As he opened the doors, he found the air condition to feel quite nice, and also found that his Solrock was already up by the counter awaiting the healing process. Man what a smart Pokémon Archie thought to himself. Well Solrocks were mysterious Pokémon. And they were psychic type underneath the layers and layers of rock. Archie plopped himself down, and awaited for his Pokémon to get healed. He looked down at his Poketech and noticed that it was blinking and saying one new message. He toughed the touch screen tech, and found the message was from someone named 'Striker'. The message was entitiled Trade, and when Archie opened the message, a flash of light (from that of which a pokeball would make) appered and out of it formed a Rattata. Archie placed $100 on the Poketech, and with another flash of light, it was gone. [Trade was already made, I was just making it appear in my journey] Archie looked around the Pokémon Center, and noticed his Solrock was now getting healed. Now all he had to do was wait, and hopefully soon the two could continue there journey with Addie. Edited by Grimer3739, Jun 15 2009, 11:34 AM.

As nurse joy took your Pokemon back for healing, you paid for a rattata. Looks like you've got a new buddy! Your money flashed away and a Pokeball was put in it's place! Before you could grab it, the Pokeball rolled off and happened to land on the button. The Pokeball opened and out came the Pokemon you bought! It looked around at it's new surroundings, then noticed you. "Ratta?" It asked. Obviously you couldn't undertsnad it, but it seemed to be asking if you now owned it. While all this was happenening, Adrian started talking to you. "Hey, I just said I don't know your name either! You could have been nice and told me what your name was." She said. Then she noticed the Rattata. "Is that yours?" She asked. She didn't seem to put any emotion into that. Nothing unkind anyway. It sounded more like she had a soft spot for cute Pokemon. Or atleast, it sounded like she thought the Rattata looked cute. "Okay, your Pokemon are all healed," the nurse stated. She handed your Pokemon back, and now you could be off on your journey again! Where might you be headed? Then again, Adrian might not agree with your decision so it might be best to ask her first. |

Archie grabbed the pokeball containing his Solrock from the nurse and turned to face Adrian. "The names Archie. Archie Boulwinkle," he said smiling at her. By now she was probably gettin tired of his smile. He didn't care though. The two of them were about to start a journey together and Archie knew he could crack her stubburn personality somehow. It was just going to take time. Archie squatted down to where his rattata was rubbing its head around his leg like a cat. The rattata was pretty friendly for being a Pokémon that wasn't originally his. Almost like it was happy to have a new Trainer, or maybe just to have a new friend. Archie began to gently pet his new Pokémon and looked up at Adrian once more. "Yeah hes mine. I just bought him off another Trainer," Archie said. Archie was extremely suprised at the fact that Addie had a cute side toward Rattata. Most people hated them, let alone thought they were cute. People though of rattata as annoying and too common, but Archie on the other hand, thought of them completely different. He knew that a rattata could become a really strong Pokémon, it just took training. And Raticate can learn moves like Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, making it even better. Archie grabbed his rat Pokémon, causing it to give out a small squeal. He placed it gently over his shoulder. "So, where should we go now?" Archie said to Addie. "If there is anywhere specific you want to go, feel free. I dont care where we go," Archie stated. "Lead the way!" He smiled. Edited by Grimer3739, Jun 17 2009, 10:51 AM.

So here you were, ready to continue your journey with your new companion or shall I say companions. Adrian, the girl you will be with smiled as you introduced yourself and smiled at her. "Well Archie it is nice to meet you." she said jokingly with a chuckle on the end. Well she seemed to be quite the friendly type as well. She glanced down at your newly acquired Rattata as he moved around your legs, rubbing your head against them. So that Rattata is yours, looks like a pretty nice Pokemon." Adrian said glancing back up towards you as you asked her where she would like to go next. She looked up at the ceiling, she appeared to be thinking about what you have just asked her. After a few moments of thinking, Adrian finally came back to you with her answer. "Well Archie, I think it would be nice to go outside this city and look for some new Pokemon." she said to you, smiling again. Things were now beginning to feel slightly awkward, well with all the smiling going on and such. "But then again if that is not what you had in mind we could always go another way." she said to you a bit quietly. She turned her head towards the Pokemon Center exit and began to walk towards it, she seemed to have changed her mind about hearing your input on the idea and had already made her way towards the door of the Pokemon Center. So you told her to lead the way and now that was what she was doing, lets just hope that she was going to wait for you as well. "Come on Archie lets get going!" Adrian shouted turning back towards you and your Rattata, waving her hand at you and your cute purple rat. She was close to going outside the Pokemon Center, if you had ideas on where to go now, this was the time to let her now or else you will be heading outside of Millenia Town. |

Archie stood still for a few more seconds and just smiled. It was strange that Adrian was being nice now. Oh well, he sure wasn’t going to complain. "Ready?" He said looking down at his Rattata. The rattata continued to playfully rub its head and body against Archie's leg. Archie bent down and picked up his Pokémon and followed his new accomplice to the door. "I’m coming!" Archie shouted as he jogged up to meet with Adrian. He was extremely happier now that the two were getting along. He knew that there had to be some nice underneath all of that toughness, and he found it. Archie looked into the eyes of his new partner and began to smile some more. "Here. Do you want to hold him?" Archie said extending his arms out to Adrian. He was really just trying to be nice and keep the good moods flowing. Besides, Adrian was a bit scary when she was mad. With Archie's arms still extended, he once again told Adrian that he didn’t care where the two went. He explained to her that wherever she led them, he would follow. The two edged closer to the outside of the building and Archie began to talk some more. "So, how many Pokémon do you have?" Archie asked. He didn’t want to be rude, but he wanted to get to know her more. |

The past shapes up, but we shape the future.
|
Does Puppet sense Archie developing a crush on this delicious red-head lady sporting the man's name Adrian!? Oh, happy day, happy day!![]() This, by the way, is Adrian. She appears sweet and happy-go-lucky, but so far in this journey she's demonstrated a very drill-Sargent like demeanor. The girl is currently accompanying Archie Boulwinkle of the Kanto Region on his journey through her home land of Alternia. The two seem to have a building friendship, which perhaps could lead into something more one day... Her known Pokemon team is a Mankey, whom is level five, and a Skarmory that is level eight. Both of her pokemon are males, and seem to be well-disciplined. Adrian seems to have spent much time training her Pokemon to be respecting of her, making it much easier for her to control them. As Archie's arms extended to offer the purple rat Pokemon to his female companion, the girl held up both of her hands while sporting a "you have to be kidding me" face. She crossed her arms in a giggle, shaking her head at Archie. "If you treat Pokemon too much like babies they'll never out grow it- You have to treat them like matured creatures if you ever want them to be successful in battle." Adrian looked over her shoulder to the streets of Millenia Town. Something was odd about her expression, however. The girl had this look on her face that was almost like a poker face over her true feelings right now. The proposal Archie had made to venture out of the city on Adrian's whim was just what the girl needed to hear. "Perfect, then. I don't like going by other people's decisions anyways." She began to investigate something upon her PokeTech watch. As she and Archie walked along the side walk of the city there was little speech in between them, a sort of awkwardness kept either side from making the first move. Archie, however, broke the silence by asking the girl how many Pokemon she has. "I only have two, the ones you saw. I'm hoping to find a third soon, though." As for conversation, that was it. It didn't make much sense, though, because just before the two seemed fine as far as mutual relationship goes. "Well, I guess we're headed for Route Four, then." Adrian and Archie along with Rattata made their way through the city with no distraction. Within about twenty minutes they had crossed from the Pokemon Center to Route Four, which started on the east side of town. Soon enough Adrian was making her way out the road, but would Archie follow? He did have a reason too, other than the fact that she was quite attractive- Solrock had seriously injured Mankey, and Archie has yet to make it up to her. Then again it's all the teen's decision what he will do. |

Archie followed Adrian out into the road. Route 4? He had never even heard of that Route before. But then again, the only place he knew in Alternia was Millenia Town. As long as the place had some nice Pokémon to catch, Archie was fine with it. Being accompanied by a cute girl didnt make it any worse either, even if she had some strange mood swings. As Archie stepped out into the road, he didnt watch for any cars. All he could do was think. Something about this girl was strange, but Archie just couldnt point it out. Maybe it was her attitude? Or perhaps her mood swings? Or maybe it was just the fact that she was a teenage girl and was such a good trainer. Whatever it was, Archie felt like he needed to know her more. "Hey Addie. What exactly are we looking for?" Archie asked. By now he was sure he was being annoying, but he needed to know something about this girl. He probably should have thought about that before he went off running away with her, but it was too late now. "Also I was wondering, what made you decide to be a trainer?" Archie asked. |

Okay, heading down to one of the routes, with a pretty girl in tow, right? Good job on getting Adrian to travel with you, by the way. The redhead yawned a little, fingering the pendant she wore on a string around her neck. “Archie,” she spoke, turning to look at you, a glare within her eyes, “I said, don’t call me Addie!” With a snarl in her words as well as a sharp blade, she turned her back to you. “I hate that name! Stop calling me that!” she yelled. At this moment, her Mankey, Greenhorn surged forwards, standing between you and her. The little pig-monkey was looking unnaturally pumped, hopping from one foot to the other as he thrust his little fists at you, as if getting ready for a fistfight. Well … perhaps you’ve just snuck into unwanted territory, whether you liked it or not. Your second question might as well have not been asked, since Adrian was hell-bent on not answering it, or talking to you for quite some time, for that matter. Before any other insults could be hurled from either you or Adrian, something stepped forth, challenging everyone. A Zangoose lunged forth, claws glinting as it readied to hack at you. Even though she was pissed at you, Adrian couldn’t bear to see you all scratched up. The presence of the Zangoose must have brought her down some crazy guilt trip … or perhaps she was just out for the experience. With a rather loud smashing sound, the beast’s massive claws were deflected by a body of steel. Hissing, Adrian’s Skarmory stood before everyone, glaring at the Zangoose through his beady eyes. The steel bird gave a loud caw, lowering his head to continue his stare at the white-furred Pokémon. Before you had a chance to relax, or ask about the battle, you were swarmed by even more Pokémon. Electrike, to be exact – and two of them! Fortunately, they didn’t seem too strong as they circled you, preventing you from aiding Adrian, but the Zangoose was. I suggest leaving the Zangoose to Adrian, and take the Electrike on, yourself. Adrian was going to catch the Zangoose for herself anyway, seeing as she was already holding up a miniaturized Pokéball, ready for the capture. Archie felt bad after making the girl mad for calling her Addie. Did she really tell him not to? He must have forgot and it seemed to really P her O. Archie looked at the girl. There had to be something else he could call her besides Adrian. Archie began to think through his brain, for a name he could use for the red head. He soon found out however that that was going to have to be put on hold. Out of nowhere a Zangoose who actually looked to be pretty tough stepped out and almost scratched Archie to bits. To Archie's suprise however, Adrian had his back and sent out Skarmory to battle. Just then a few other Pokémon swarmed around Archie. These hed have to fight on his own as Adrian was busy with the Zangoose. Archie touched his Poketech and scanned one of the Pokémon. A small description popped up on the small watch. Archie closed the program and a smile appeared across his face. Finally some action! After alot of getting to know Adrian, he sure was happy to finally have a battle. The only bad part about all of this was that Adrian called catching the Zangoose. Archie didnt say anything however, for he was fine letting the girl have the strongest available. Besides, Electrike werent bad. "Alright lets do this!" shouted Archie. Archie pulled out one pokeball and flung it to the ground. As the ball opened, Solrock appeared. "2 against one isnt fair. You ready Ratatta?" Archie smirked. Rattata raised its ears and sprung out from Archie's arms and onto the battle field. Now with both Pokémon set, Archie decided not to waist anymore time. "Ok guys go for the smaller one first. Rattata, use your speed to start this battle off with a Quick Attack. Solrock while Rattata is using Quick Attack, buff up your defense with Harden. One Rattata hits the electrike I want you to use Confusion," Archie called out. Archie turned to face Adrian. He was sure she could handle her own, but just in case he shouted out a few words. "How ya holdin up? If you need any help just call alright A!" |
