[ journey start ] They say that technology both advances and hinders mankind. That we take great steps forward, yet lose the things most essential to us ... and so end up moving backwards instead. But talk is cheap and not nearly as interesting as taking a walk on the beach with your Solrock. So here you were. Even though you might not have expected to see very many electronic items so close to a body of water, it was an unwritten rule that Millenia citizens were attached at the hip to their latest gadgets. Pretty girls in bikinis spent less time playing beach volleyball and more time texting on their brightly colored cell phones. Surfers ran into the waves with their iPods encased in waterproof coverings so they could rock out while they cruised the water. Even the snooty business-types could be seen with their laptops. In fact, out of everyone here, it seemed only one person had better things to do than plug in to the interwebs. A redheaded girl who looked to be about your age could be seen standing on the beach with her Mankey, shouting like a drill sergeant. As you passed her, you overheard a bit of her conversation. "... only when the enemy is at half health! Is this understood, greenhorn?!" she yelled. "Man! KEY!" the little monkey-pig hybrid squeaked back, his arm raised in a kind of salute to his trainer. And as if this wasn't odd enough, the girl had noticed you and pointed at you boldly. "You there, punk! I challenge you to take part in our pre-Battle Camp warmup!" she declared, "Think you can handle that, kid?!" It seemed she wanted to fight you. Whether you wanted to accept her challenge or not, well, that's up to you and you alone. What'll it be? Lv5

Oh the downfalls of technology, gotta love 'em right? What was the point of a teenage boy to even be on the beach without them hot girls in their small bikinis playing volleyball? Yeah, yeah, everybody loves a beach view, swimming, or a sunset off the waves of the water, but face it. Without girls, the beach is nothing. And there is nothing hot about a girl sitting there texting away on her phone. In fact, to Archie, it wasn't sexy at all. But then again, neither was a redhead screaming her lungs out at you and some little pig-monkey like creature. As if Archie even cared, he was one of those guys that would hit on any girl, even if he didn't plan on anything. Flirting to him, was just something to do. He really didn't care. Archie stared into the eyes of the redhead girl, and then twisted around to face his Pokemon Solrock. He wasn't really sure what his reaction should be. Happy he got a battle already. Mad some girl was yelling he brains out at him. Upset there weren't as many hot girls as he thought there would be. Or scared that it was his first battle with Solrock, and this girl was pretty, scary. Archie got the look in his eye, and turned back to face the girl. He flashed a small grin at her, and quick but smoothly answered, "Sure. Ill battle with you." His grin got wider, and he looked over to his Pokemon. "Well. What do you say? Lets win this buddy," He said to Solrock. Solrock began to twist and spin in the air and let out a strange noise that Archie took as an indicator that it was ready to begin this battle. Archie wasted no time and decided to jump right in for the first turn. "Solrock. Use Harden to help your defenses, and then Tackle Mankey!" Archie shouted. Solrock hardened itself, a sheen taking over its body. Harden was in effect now, raising its defense by one level. The sun-shaped Pokémon rolled about in the air, expressionless eyes focusing on its target – the Mankey. Without a further word, Solrock proceeded to hover at its own leisurely pace towards the Mankey. The other Pokémon was hopping from one foot to the other, bracing itself for the time of impact. Anxious to test out their new strategy, the Mankey stepped back, a gleam within its eyes. “And … now – do it, Mankey!” cried the redhead, fist clenched tightly. Well, whatever it was, it didn’t sound to be sunshine and daises. Your Pokémon stopped its advance for a moment to see what its opponent had under its sleeve. Seeing nothing happening, Solrock spun around in mid-air with a slight twist, slamming its spiked side into Mankey. Taking the damage like a man, the so-called greenhorn flipped backwards lithely. It was now his turn to make a move; his chance to show his Trainer just precisely what he was made of. Oh, and he was going to show it to you and your Solrock too. Tiny bits of concentration and courage welled up within Mankey’s heart, pumping the energy furiously through his veins. It was clear then that he became all the more pumped, and then, the monkey-like creature pounced. Jumping up into the air, Mankey’s leg twisted before slamming forcefully towards your Solrock’s, uh … nether regions. Well, your Solrock was genderless, if you cared to look on the bright side … Either way, Solrock was sent reeling back from the impact. Its eyes were still expressionless, anyway, so you couldn’t tell whether it was in pain. Your Pokémon’s body still had the sheen from the previous Harden, so it had somewhat softened the impact from the Low Kick. All in all, this turn was a pretty good one. Archie stared blankfully out at the 'greenhorn'. The small pig-monkey creature was proving to be a tough opponent, but Archie still had a trick up his sleeve. Archie's Solrock knew the move Confusion, which was a psychic type move. One of Mankey's weaknesses. Archie snapped back into reality and now faced the red-haired girl. He really didnt want to have to beat up on a girl, but he hated losing. And he was convinced that he wasnt going to lose. "Nice move," Archie smiled. "But now its my turn to show you what power my Pokemon has." Archies whole face turned into an evil looking smile as he turned to his Solrock. "You ready to get this battle over with?" He laughed. Solrock floated there looking at Archie, with the same blank expression it always had. Archie quickly barked out the words "Confusion". Solrock rotated so its eye was now facing Mankey. The rock hard, sun-like body of the creature began to glow a strange purple and pinkish color as it stared into the eyes of the determined Mankey. |

Man, waging Confusion already? That was your trump card, and you’d already pulled it out so quickly! Oh well, that say that offense is the best defense, so we’re going to see if it applies to you. Like you ordered it to, Solrock blinked its eyes once (just once!) and turned to look at the Mankey. Its eyes were completely devoid of expression, but you knew that there was a lot of concentration going behind it. Focusing its innate psychic powers into someone else’s mind wasn’t exactly Solrock’s favorite thing to do, but since you ordered it to do so … it might as well humor you. C’mon, listen up, punk! Solrock injected the statement into Mankey’s mind, causing the monkey to go a little berserk. The monkey-pig-thing was rather furious at Solrock having invaded his mind. Rubbing his head furiously, Mankey chirped and stamped his feet on the ground in frustration. Frustration … you’re feeling it. That’s because you … are … WEAK! Solrock propelled forth another sentence or two, and that was enough to muddle Mankey. The ‘greenhorn’ screeched so loudly that the redhead had to cover her ears. Rubbing his head still, the Mankey looked up, glaring at Solrock with rage. Enraged, he launched himself into the air after he reeled back from the damage your Pokémon had brought unto his young mind. He might be weak mentally, but his physical state was definitely better … and with the aid of his Trainer, could be even better. “Mankey!” called the creature, screeching his own name. The purple and pink glow on Solrock's body dispersed, and the psychic energies within its body grew dormant once again, but ready to be called upon any second. With a low grunt, your Solrock was sent spiraling backwards by two swift kicks to its … nether regions. As stated before, Solrock didn’t have them, but it was fun was a running gag. Solrock let out a low moan. Perhaps it was feeling pain beyond the expressionless face it wore. Mankey was hopping around, chattering in fury. Two Low Kick attacks was no problem for him, but Solrock had a hard body. Yet, the Mankey held on awesomely. If he ever evolved into Primeape and decided to seek you out, you might be in some trouble. "Man.." Archie mumbled. Every time Archie did something that he thought would give him an upper hand, this Mankey (aka 'greenhorn') did something to one-up him and Solrock. At this pace, he would never win this battle. Archie had to change his tactics if he was going to come up on top of this battle. Archie glanced down at his Poketech watch and pressed a button labled [Battle Info]. He raised the watch up to the battle and hit a button. The small mechanism scanned the battle and a bit of information and numbers appeared on the screen showing Archie the amount of HP and Energy remaining of the two pokemon. Mankey was ahead in HP, but Solrock was ahead in Energy. Archie examined the battle just like his Poketech had, and tried to think of something that could give him an advantage. After a few seconds of hard thinking, nothing popped into his mind. He was going to have to try to pull this out through strength, timing, and strategic move planning. This battle was his to win and he was going to prove it. Archie turned and met the emotionless eye of his Solrock, indicating he was ready to bark out an order. "Alright Solrock. Use a Confusion again." Archie said. "However, once you get done with the Confusion if you see Mankey get enraged and come for another attack, meet his body with your own with a Tackle attack." Archie followed. Archie began to smile, as he pictured his plan working in his head. "Your body is alot harder so it should hurt him more than it hurts you." He added, awaiting to see his plan in reality. |

Following your orders once more, and somewhat reluctantly, Solrock caught "greenhorn"'s eye, and penetrated the angered monkey's mind. For the second time in as many minutes, the Mankey was surrounded by dark energy, as he tried to pound the dull, mocking voice from inside his skull. You are pathetic. Hardly worth my time... Solrock was really getting to Greenhorn now. Wanting the voice out, by any means necessary, the ape started hammering at his head with both fists, which, obviously to everyone else, was only hurting him. "Greenhorn, what in the hell do you think you're doing? Stand down!" Her owner pleaded with him, realising that she was quickly losing this battle to brains, not brawn. "Stop that and do what I taught you again! Take this stupid rock DOWN!" The high-pitched screams of her Mankey, as well as the (not much lower) shouts of her own, were drawing quite a crowd to your little beach battle. You can decide whether or not that's a good thing. Fortunately for the redhead, Solrock dropped his psychic link with Greenhorn, deciding that it had done enough, and prepared for the monkey's inevitable retaliation. And of course, a few moments after it had cleared its mind of intruders, Mankey once more charged towards your floating rock, attempting to kick it in its nonexistant genitalia once more. However, this time, you'd planned a counterattack. Taking matters slightly into his own hands here, Solrock waited patiently as Greenhorn approached, speeding up and jumping into the sky. Then, it suddenly sprang forward, using its psychic powers to hover through the sky, and shot itself towards the ape SIDEWAYS. Greenhorn and his redheaded trainer could see the inevitable happening, as in midair, Greenhorn was on a crash course. It happened in slow motion, almost. Flailing madly, trying to change his path, the Mankey was unprepared, as Solrock's stone appendages smashed into his leg and his back. Ouch. On impact, Greenhorn ricocheted to Solrock's side, and continued on a few metres, before landing with a dull THUD on the sand. The poor monkey was on his last legs now. This would be over on one more hit. "Noooo! Dammit.. Freenhorn, get up! You can finish this, come on!" The redhead commanded, stunned at the strength of the impact before. Archie watched carefully as in a matter of minutes, the battle had shifted and was now entirely on his and Solrocks side. However even though he was now winning, and unless a HUGE setback (or miracle) was to happen, he was going to win, he wasnt too happy anymore. Winning was Archies favorite thing in the world and he absolutely hated losing, but watching a pokemon basically cripple in front of him wasnt exactly his favorite thing to watch. Not exactly your typical Team Rocket wannabee right? Archie stood in a daze, as Solrock turn back to face him awaiting his next (and most likely final order) of the battle. Solrock stared at Archie with its emotionless eye, and for once you could almost get a feeling from the Pokemon. Solrock seemed to be enjoying itself. Like it actually enjoyed crippling other pokemon. Either that or it just wanted to get it over with. Probably both. Archie finally snapped back into reality and tried to think of what to do next. Most likely of what he could do next without completely tearing this pokemon apart. Solrock began to spin slowly in mid-air, giving off an aura that it was now getting impatient. "Alright Solrock. Use Confusion one last time. If Mankey somehow gets physical with you, just end it with a Tackle. Got that? Away use Confusion. Close-by use Tackle," Archie said before shaking his head. He didnt seem like such the 'tough guy' now. Perhaps he wasnt all he makes himself to be. |

The battle was now tipping in your favour, it seemed. With a mind-raping power, you were unstoppable … Commanding Solrock to use Confusion was probably the most predictable move ever, but you had no idea how distressed the redhead was. You were still attacking even though the Mankey was crippled! And then you shook your head. How the heck was Solrock supposed to compute your actions? The redhead looked at you with a frown. “Greenhorn’s already crippled and you’re still attacking!” she cried, pointing an accusing finger at you. The crowd that had gathered around you two were staring to discuss something (and it didn’t sound good) as they exchanged glances with each other. Hmm … sounds bad. You might want to consider getting out of there before you get smashed up by the crowd. Solrock continued to hover where he was as Mankey made a last ditch attempt to jump to the air, but failed. The redhead rushed out to the field as she glared at you. Holding her Mankey in her arms, her glare did not dissipate as she frowned at you. “You’re no warrior!” she cried out, cradling her Mankey. Now that the battle was temporarily stopped for this turn, a man stood in the front row of the ground and looked at you. The guy then stretched out with a yawn, before watching you. “Man, this has gotta be the weirdest … show him no mercy, there!” he urged you. Archie's jaw dropped as he looked around at the crowd. They were really disgusted in him because he was winning a Pokemon battle. And it was one that he didnt even start. The girl came onto him and challenged him. It wasnt his fault that his Pokemon was just better. Archie was now rather confused. He always thought the point of a Pokemon battle was to win and get stronger, and now that he was doing exactly what he thought he was suppose to be doing, people were getting appalled at him. The funny thing was he was even feeling a little bit bad for winning so well. Archie turned and faced the man in the front of the crowd who was shouting things. "How about you guys all shut up and let me battle my own battles!" Archie shouted. He was now getting a little pissed off. He hated when people eavesdropped into other peoples things. This was between Archie, Solrock, the Redhead, and Greenhorn (Mankey). It was noone elses buisness. Something triggered inside Archie, and he began to see red. It was strange for him to get so mad over something so little, but he was now extremely pissed off. "Who the hell are you?" Archie said to the man. "Your distracting our battle." |

So, you were in the middle of a battle with a woman and her Mankey. Well, that's good, right, plus, you're winning, even better! But, then, she just stopped the battle. Apparently she was angry with you because of your winning the battle. Was she stopping out of complete concern for her Mankey's health, or did she stop because of the fact that she was losing, and didn't want to comply with her loss. Either way, the battle was stalled, and a man said to keep going on the battle. It upset you, to no end. Obviously the man had pissed you off to a certain extent, because you started yelling at him. Well, he just rolled his eyes at you and began to walk off, that was until you called to him and asked who he was. He then turned around and said, "I'm Stan Corral. I'm sorry you're so appalled by my being here. I'll just leave you be. Geez, calm down. I try and help and that's the thanks I get. I was just trying to let you know that you needed to finish her off." He was quite annoyed now, and he turned back and began to walk away. So a random guy just came up, told you his opinion, and left again? Weird...anyways, back to the battle at hand. The red haired woman was still cradling her Mankey and was trying to get him all patched up to the best of her ability. Well, I suggest you just KO the stupid monkey, get the experience, and move on with your journey. It is yours after all. But that's just me. What would you truly end up doing? Archie stared at the back of the guys head as he walked away. Perhaps Archie was over exaggerating a little bit, but he still felt like giving the guy a punch in the back of the head. Archie clinched his fist and looked down at the ground trying to calm his self down. He still had a battle to finish, and he didn't want anything to get in the way of his victory. After a few seconds of him mumbling to himself, Archie looked back up to find his Solrock staring at him with its big emotionless eye. Solrock made eye contact with Archie, and turned so that its eye was now across from its opponents. It was clear that it also wanted this battle to end. As Solrock awaited its Trainers orders, Archie was still trying to put his mind back in battle mode. Archie took a few more seconds of time, and then began to bark out words. "You know you might wanna get out of the way!" Archie called out to the red head. "Im attacking Greenhorn regarless if you are holding him or not. I dont really want to hurt him, but I have to end the battle right?" Archie smiled, trying to make it sound a little softer than the impact really was about to be. "Well Solrock. Use Confusion on Mankey. Make sure not to hit its Trainer though, and make it a little soft. Just enough to defeat Mankey will do," Archie finished. |

The red head looked at you oddly. Her facial expression was asking you if you really had the guts to try to attack her precious Pokémon while she was comforting it. Though, not taking any chances, she put the monkey down. He was crippled, but that didn’t stop him from being upset. Doing his best not to hurt himself, he thrashed around just a little, trying to get the message that he wasn’t done yet into your skull. Your solrock just kinda chilled for a bit, then readied its attack. It wouldn’t take much of a confusion to knock this poor little ape out, I mean, it’s hurt, and it’s super effective, not too much had to be done. Solrock sent his psychic energy over into the monkey’s brain, shocking and knocking it out before the trainer could even give it any orders. Well, that was fast, too bad all battles couldn’t be that easy, otherwise this training thing would be just a piece of cake! The redhead took out her pokeball, returning the monkey to it. “Well, I hope you’re happy, you beat me, but that doesn’t mean I have to like you, you big meanie!” She just kinda stood there, almost waiting for you to apologize. gained 10 ! Went up to level 6! Had 5 exp left over! You noticed that the stan guy just kinda walked away, and you should have felt bad for the girl. Maybe you could try to still make friends with her? It was the least you could do, I mean come on. She’s pretty! It would be nice to have such a sweet girl around on your journey to cheer you up or keep you happy, wouldn’t it? She shouldn’t be TOO mad, you just mercifully finished off her precious Pokémon…right? |

Archie looked at the red head and began to feel bad. He had tried to tell her that he didnt want to hurt her pokemon that bad, but a battle is a battle. He had no choice. Archie turned to face his Solrock and reached into his right pocket pulling out a Pokeball. "Hey that was a great job buddy," he said to Solrock. He pressed the center button in the middle of the red and white sphere and opened it. A bright blinding flash of light emerged from within the ball, and seconds later disappeared along with Solrock. Archie tucked the ball safely back in to his pocket and once again turned to face the girl. A small perhaps fake grin made its way onto Archie's face. "Im really sorry about that," he said trying to make it seem a little better. He gazed up at the sky and began to scratch his head. He was finding it hard to even look her in the face. "So uhm, I could maybe walk you to the Pokemon Center?" Archie suggested to the girl. He looked back down at her and smiled trying to get her to smile back. There had to be some way to get her to forget about this and make this all better. Archie just had to find it. Archie sighed and turned around looking for the Pokemon Center. He then realized that he had no idea how to get there. To be honest, he had no idea where it even was. "Well actually, maybe you could take me to the pokemon center. I dont know where that place even is," Archie laughed. That one had to get her. Girls loved it when guys made those stupid little jokes, Archie just had to hope she was one of those girls. "Come on. Lets go!" Archie suggested once again, this time waving his arm, beginning to walk. Edited by Grimer3739, Jun 3 2009, 06:48 AM.

Hmm … asking a girl out indirectly, huh? You must kind of like her, or you really want to make up for the sin that you committed. The redhead nodded at your offer, and from her pocket, released a steel bird by the name of Skarmory. Holy, it was steely doom! The bird stared at each and everyone present with his eye, before gently lowering his body to allow the Mankey to be placed on him slowly. Even though he was one tough-looking creature, he still had a soft spot enough to serve as a stretcher … or something. Taking flight, the massive steel bird glided over to the Pokémon Center. Level 8Right, now you were alone with the redhead, save your Solrock and some people walking about. “Look, I don’t take too kindly to people to mess up my Pokémon and then apologize,” she said, staring at you, “but since you asked nicely, I’ll humor you.” Wow. The redhead was definitely a no-frills person, or whatever you call them. She trained her Pokémon like she meant it, and talked like she meant it! Either way, you were still getting to the Pokémon Center with her, so don’t worry about that. Starting to walk down the road, the redhead tossed her head backwards to get a good look at you. “Come along. I won’t mess you up; you have only one Pokémon, don’t you?” said the redhead, a smirk on her face. Wait, how did she know that you had only one Pokémon? Hmm … intriguing indeed – maybe she had a trick or two up her sleeve; you never knew in this kind of situations. Oh, and in case you were wondering whether she was one of those ditzy little girls … she definitely wasn’t. Her curt and matter-of-fact responses to your statements implied quite otherwise. She didn’t look like she was going to forget about you ‘messing up her Pokémon’ so soon either. Well, this was something to remedy, and the road down to the red-roofed building seemed like a good time to think about it! |
