Ah, the cool afternoon breeze of the fresh village air whips past your face as you stare into the bright meadow in front of you. Shadowy trees create a sky scape miles away from the edge of the meadow, which seems like an endless amount of miles away. Your first real beginning as a Pokemon trainer, leaving the comforting treehouses and crisp, clean morning air of Nogou Village. You would've started this same journey several years ago if your dear Turtwig hadn't, well you know, been stolen from you after that fateful battle with the two foreigners. However, the day is young and that was a past memory, so let's begin this journey you have waited for all these years.

As you look into the bright sun, you spot a flock of grey-colored birds migrating to the west. One puny looking one looks confused and glides gently towards the meadow ground, stopping ten feet directly in front of you. Its black eyes glow with enthusiasm for battle, are you ready for this?

"Ouch!" Oak yelped after getting attacked on the head by the sleeping Pokemon. It was very suprising that the Pokemon was still sleeping. That must be some soft head Oak has.

Oak glanced over at the Pineco and began rubbing his head where he had been hit. He waited a few more seconds, making sure there was no serious damage done to him, and then began to think about what to do. He was still a little pissed about his dreams he had earlier, and this wasnt really helping the situation. Oak figured this could be the perfect oppurtunity to get some pinned up anger out of his system. As well as some experience for his pokemon.

Oak reached down on his belt and grasped Koffings pokeball in his hand. "Wait," he mumbled. Oak's hand made its way off of Koffing's pokeball and onto his newly caught Starly's. "This will be the perfect chance for me to get to know Starly," Oak smiled. He reached back and flung the pokeball out away from Pineco, careful not to awake the sleeping pokemon.

He knew that this would be the perfect oppurtunity to try and teach Starly a new move, but since he it was their first battle together, he decided to put a hold on that idea. "Ok Starly. Lets start with a Quick Attack!" Oak shouted. "If Pineco wakes up, give it a growl. Nothing like getting growled at as you wake up!" Oak laughed.

Walking in a forest and a sleeping Pokemon falls out of nowhere and hits your head, sounds like fun. As your newly caught Starly was released, he gave off a small chirp. Starly lived all his life in the wild, he wasn't used to taking orders from humans. He glared at you and remembered the amount of smog you covered him with and gave you a nasty glare. The Starly definitely wasn't eager to listen to your commands. But anyways, he needed to let off a little steam and the Pineco was there. The sleeping Pineco gave off no signs of waking up soon and looked like a heavy sleeper.

After listening to your directions, Starly decided to ignore them purposely. Instead he chose to do what he wanted and when he wanted. Your Starly sure were different from others of his species, Starlys are suppose to be social and calm creatures, not defiant. Starly wobbled over to the Pineco and just thumped it, waking up the Pineco. The Pineco seemed furious, someone had woken him up and he's just fallen out of his home, of course he'll be mad. Starly gave him a pity look and flew back to you. The Pineco grew more angry by the passing second and was ready to charge at both of you.

The wild Pineco started wobbling towards you and Starly at maximum speed, read to pound both of you with a tackle! Starly just yawned and chirped something that probably meant "You're not good enough for me." The pineco used the momentum he gathered and jumped up, covering the moon. He faced downwards with his horn facing staright down at Starly, falling at extreme speeds. Starly gave off a loud cry, it couldn't have been good.
Pineco's horn (yes the pointy thing on his head is a horn) had stabbed your Starly's left wing, making it gush blood. A little flesh wound like that wasn't going to kill Starly and he managed to get the Pineco out of his left wing. He couldn't fly anymore and cringed, but his pride wouldn't let him admit defeat.

So what are you going to do? You could always let Starly battle it out with his injury, or kill his pride and send him back in the Pokeball. There were countless options, but everyone of them had a cost. Your Starly looked at you in pain telling you not to interfere. In the end it's your decision, but will it be the right one?

Oak was now completely disgusted with his Pokémon. He face turned sour and he began to stare menacingly at Starly. Never had he ever had a Pokémon disobey him. Back in his adventures with Chikorita, he would occasionally have a Pokémon be mad at him, but never would he have one completely go against him.

"You little snot! You deserve that. Now how about you listen to me for now on and things like that wont happen!" Oak shouted out. He didn't realize just how angry he was getting at his Pokémon, and after it had just got its wing stabbed. However, it made him very mad that his Starly disobeyed him, and if he would have listened, he might not have been hurt right now.

"Look, if your ready to listen, we can still win this battle and then I can take you to the Pokémon center and get your wing healed," Oak said trying to tone his voice down a little.

The battle now went from easy to extremely hard. Pineco was now awake and angry, and Starly could no longer fly. This battle was sure to be a tough one. "Alright Starly, show this Pineco you arent out of this battle yet with a fierce grow!" Oak shouted out. "Next try a Quick Atack. If you cant get enough speed with your hurt wing, just use a Tackle!"

My my, we seem to have a rebelious little Starly on our hands, don't we? Who knew that such a nice little bird could act so mean? Well, this Starly you have wasn't changing its act, and instead, it stared you down angrily when it had gotten called a 'little snot.' It seriously didn't like that, and it decided it still wouldn't listen to you. It looked at the Pineco, and its pride caused it to grow angry at the little pokemon. The Pineco was still angry at you both, and it saw the bird pokemon as it started flapping its un-injured wing. It was using the Global Attack Flap, and it only did this because it didn't want to listen to you.

Gosh, what a foolish pokemon it seemed like right? Well, it was proving such, but the attack seemed succesful, even though the power was cut because only one wing was flapping at the Pineco. The Pineco was pushed back by the gusts of wind a bit, but then it shot up, and saw the bird running at him in a Quick Attack. It seemed like even though the bird pokemon didn't like how you were being mean to it, it still decided to listen to you! Its Quick Attack was about to slam into the Pineco, but a barrier shot up as soon as the Quick Attack made contact.

It seemed like Pineco used Protect, and it was surely working. The Pineco managed to avoid further damage from that attack, and it smiled as your Starly was near it now. Starly's eyes widened, and the Pineco aimed a Tackle attack at the Starly, as it rammed ferociously into the poor bird, and the bird went flying back, and it landed just before you. It struggled to get up a bit, but rose to its feet. Its body was hurt, and it was inching closer to losing this battle, but its pride wouldn't let it give up still. The pokemon still had plenty of fight in it, and the battle could go either way still.

Oak began to once again become pissed off at the small bird. It disobeyed him yet again after he told it not to. Yeah maybe Oak was begin a bit out of control, but still. He was Starly's Trainer, and Starly was going to have to live with that. And Oak was going to have to learn that not everything is going to go his way all the time.

Oak got a little calmer when he noticed Starly using Quick Attack. He didnt listen to his full commands, but at least he listened to some. In fact, Starly reminded Oak of himself. They were both hard-headed, and liked doing things on their own. And they never gave up. Even if their, left wing was bleeding? Well in Starly's case anyway.

"Starly, good job. How about we work together though?" Oak yelled out to Starly. This time he tried to sound a little nicer, hoping maybe that would make Starly want to listen to him. He knew that if him and Starly worked together, this Pineco didnt stand a chance.

Oak smiled at his small bird Pokémon. It was strange how his mood went from that angry, to this happy that quick. Maybe we just found out that Oak is a little bi-polar? Either way, Oak tried once more to give his little Pokémon commands. "Ok Starly, lets try growl and then Tackle!" Oak shouted.

OOOH.... Hard headed are we? Well then I am going to have fun in this update. Nah I am only kidding, but all the same, look at your situation here. You have a Pokémon that is rambunctious and a trainer that accepts nothing less than perfection. It is a blank canvas that a literary artist can work from. But enough heckling, lets check into this battle.

Starly charged full speed into the green bug, howling its battle growl. Pineco found itself desperately trying to set up its feeble Protect once again. But, the professor had told you about that move. He told you that using it multiple times would cause it to fail, too bad for poor Pineco. Your Starly, excited that the command worked it flapped its wings and ran back, trying to gain flight. The one thing it didn’t count on was a rouge root. The root caused Starly to tumble… and tumble… wait was this starly just tumbling, or beginning to learn rollout. It would seem that way, till your young and injured Pokémon wound up belly up on the trunk of a tree.

Taking advantage of this interlude, Pineco began to move swiftly towards the Starly. Its little stem glimmering as it moves to tackle your poor starly, which is already worse for the wear. the pinecone tackled and rebounded before moving back and staring you down.

”Co, PINECO!”

It wouldn’t seem that your starly has much of a fight left in him, his wing is damaged and is getting worse with every attack, its disoriented, and the Pineco looks to be willing to strike you. Best options could be to either try and throw a pokeball at the sucker, or duke it out and try to run for it to earn your starly’s trust. There is faith that you will make the right decision, I only have to wonder why I keep typing pidgey instead of starly. I mean the sprite is obviously a starly why do I even bother writing pidgey I guess we won’t know that fact

Oak watched in disbelief as his Starly was becoming more and more crippled. At first the Pokémon disgusted Oak by its ignorance and not listening to his commands, but somehow the small bird made its way into Oaks heart. Oak found himself frantically searching for a plan, for something to help out his Starly, but nothing came to mind. It was bad enough that Starly had its wing clipped and couldnt fly, but now it was disoriented and that took away basically any means of offense for the small Pokémon.

Oak faced his aching Starling Pokémon. He could withdraw him, but that wouldnt make Starly feel any better from the battle. It would probably just put emotional pain on top of physical pain. Oak looked away from the battle and reach onto his belt. He still had a couple empty pokeball left, so he reached for an empty one and held it back in his arm, ready to fire it. "Your mine Pineco!" Oak shouted as he tossed the ball straight at the Pineco.

Aww, you are starting grow more care for Starly. There is nothing like the caring attitude of a trainer for their pokemon, and it sometimes helps in dire situations. Too bad you didn't order it to do anything in this situation, or it could have really changed up the situation. Regardless, your pokeball was thrown at Pineco, whom had his eyes widened in surprise. It saw the ball get chucked at it, and it was struggling around to move, but with its body, that would just be too hard. So it stood there, feeling as if it could brace the power of the ball. It let the ball hit it head on, and the ball sucked the pokemon in.

Meanwhile, Starly looked at the pokemon, almost as if it was in a groggy fashion. It was not going to accept defeat, and it was just bummed out that it couldn't finish the fight against the pokemon. Regardless of the situation, the Starly really wanted a fight bad, despite it's condition. It DEFINATELY was a hard head, thats for sure. Hey, no one can say that can't help you make it work for the better though, and one day, your Starly may grow into a strong Staraptor, and its rough attitude would help it intimidate foes.

That would be one day though. That day wasn't now, but what was now was the condition of Pineco. The ball was shaking, and shaking. It seemed like the ball wouldn't stop. It felt like some music should have been played in the background, but regardless, the ball immediatly stopped shaking. The ball made a strange chiming noise, and it sat there, still. CONGRATULATIONS, MY FRIEND, YOU HAVE JUST CAUGHT YOURSELF A PINECO!

Oak jumped up in excitement just like he did when he had captured Starly. He ran over to the pokeball and held it in his hand. His happiness was quickly drained however, when he remembered Starly. Oak turned and faced his Starly. The little bird’s wing was still bleeding and Oak could tell that it was putting him through some pain. Oak walked over to Starly and reached his right hand down to pick the bird up. Starly seemed to have a different plan in mind however, as the bird turned its head away from Oak.

“Are you mad because I didn’t let you finish the battle?” Oak said. His voice was full of sorrow with a pinch of anger. He was sad that this happened to his Pokémon but also angry because he felt like it was his entire fault. “Look I’m going to get you healed, and then we can talk about this later ok? I’m really sorry,” Oak apologized. He reached his hand down and gently picked up Starly. He cared too much for the Pokémon to let it push him away. “Look Starly. Next battle, I promise I will let you battle the whole fight. And we are going to win. I promise,” Oak said trying to encourage the bird not to be too mad at him.

Oak looked around with Starly in his hands. He looked in the direction of which he thought he had came from the Pokémon Center and began running, trying to back track.

Your Starly, although it was still mad at you, couldn't help but warm up to you a bit. So all you got from the young fowl was a nod. The nod was followed up by a turning around yet again, as it perched up on your shoulder, with a bleeding wing. It really seemed like it would need to be helped with that. Fortunately, you were heading down that way, and it seemed like you would arrive there really soon. But, as soon as you started marching, it seemed like it would be longer than you may think.

Why is that? Well, to be put simple, a little dispute was going on in the forest. You could hear the cries of a girl in peril, and she was being tortured it seemed. By whom though? Well, you should look into it more, by listening to the conversation and observing! It was a beautiful young girl, whom looked around your age, and she had golden yellow hair, with bangs that covered her forehead. She had hair hanging down the side of her head, and her eyes seemed like two blue piercing pools of the ocean. She seemed to have a kind, forgiving aura around her, and she was accompanied by her Pokemon, a female Swablu, whom was yelling weakly at her attacker, as she seemed beaten up.

Her attacker was a tall, handsome looking fellow, and with emo hair. The best way to describe him is as Sasuke from Naruto, but that is about it. His skin was a bit tanner than that, and his eyes were magnificently green. He looked at the girl, with his Murkrow sitting on his arm. He glanced down at the both of them, laughing and telling his own pokemon, a male Murkrow, to finish the girl off with one blow. He charged at the girl with a Peck attack, ready to do such.

Out of nowhere though, Starly rammed the boy's Murkrow into a tree with Quick Attack. Even though it's wing was hurting, it recovered some by just resting, so his energy was recovered, and the wing wasn't bleeding too much anymore, but it still was unusable. The Starly didn't get a good vibe from the trainer, and the boy looked in your direction, sizing you up with his eyes. "Tell your crap hole of a pokemon to stay out of our business, or else it will get even more messed up than the bird already looks!" The boy said, rudely and arrogantly. He looked over at the girl, whos eyes looked disheartened. She needed a hero, and were you willing to save her? One thing was for sure, Starly was willing to help!

Oak couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the man threatening to attack the girl. Oak was always taught never to hit a girl and hated people who did. And commanding your Pokémon to do your dirty work for you was even worse. Oak peeked around the corner to get a better look at the situation. He noticed a beautiful blonde girl, a man who looked rather tough in his opinion, a swablu and a Murkrow. Oak put the pieces together and figured that the Murkrow belonged to the man and the Swablu belonged to the girl. But why was he attacking her?

Oak watched in shock, as he heard tell his Murkrow to finish the girl off. His jaw dropped and his eyes zoned, and he felt immobile. Starly however, must have taken offense, as it jetted off and slammed right into the Murkrow. After Starly managed to attack Murkrow, Oak found himself able to spit out a few words. "We will see whose bird gets messed up!" Oak shouted. "Now, I suggest you let the girl go, or you are going to soon regret it!" Oak followed.

Oak looked over at the girl. A new determination swam through his veins. He gave the girl a small wink, trying to give her a little more confidence that she was being saved. Oak turned back to face the boy. The look on his face contained nothing but evil toward the boy."Ok Starly, if this punk tries to battle, I want you to growl and then use Tackle on Murkrow," Oak said to his bird Pokémon. This girl needed a hero, and Oak was ready to be just that.

Well this is a rather nasty situation that you have discovered indeed, a large man attacking a girl and her Swablu with his nasty Murkrow. Being a gentleman you find that as being downright wrong and decide to help, when you peeked around the corner and finally put the pieces together and shouted out towards the man...well lets just say that he wasn't too eager to have your input on what was going on at the moment. The emo haired man turned his head towards you, taking his focus off of the girl for a slight moment. "How's about you mind your business punk!" the emo haired dude, his Murkrow turned its body towards you and your Murkrow. Both of them looked pretty angry at the moment as a matter of fact the emo haired guy was so angry, he decided to wrap you up in the entire situation.

"Murkrow attack both that meddler and his Pokemon with a Peck attack, aim at the head!" the emo haired guy shouted to his Murkrow. Man, this this guy didn't rush to finish off his opponent, luckily for you that you already had your commands for that round set and stone. Your little Starly flew off your shoulder, despite being in his current condition from the last battle let out a small Growl and hit the Murkrow with a Tackle attack right as it was coming towards you and him. Murkrow hit the ground with a thud and the man let out a snarl at you; he was really...really pissed off now.

Thankfully right as the man was about to set off another attack the beautiful blond hair girl interfered to help you out, although things already looked pretty bad for her and her Swablu to begin with. Swablu flew straight towards Murkrow, hitting the bird with a Peck attack on the side. Murkrow was now being ganged upon, things are now slightly in your favor for the battle as Murkrow was now slightly dazed from the sudden attack from the Swablu. Murkrow was once more open for attack, what would you now? Well whatever you do you had to make sure that your new friend in this battle Swablu didn't take another hit, or else it was done.

Oak watched over his Starly very carefully. He knew that one small slip up could greatly damage the already hurt Pokémon. He really couldn’t believe just how determined to fight his Starly was. It made him remember back to there last battle when at the beginning the small Pokémon didn’t even want to listen to him. Luckily for Oak now, he seemed ready for orders.

Oak glanced around and looked into the girls eyes. He flashed her a smile, but the smile soon faded as Oak remembered that this was not a time for smiling. He had a battle on his hands and even though they had a 2 on 1 advantage, all three Pokémon were weakened enough to where the battle could still go either way. Oak then looked over at Swablu. The poor Pokémon wanted to help its trainer so badly, that it was pretty much killing itself in the process. Oak estimated that it only had about 1 or 2 more attack until it would faint. That left Oak with not a lot of time.

“Alright Starly, lets end this fast. I want you to go for another Tackle,” Oak called out. He then looked over at Swablu once again. “Listen Swablu, I know I’m not your trainer, but you need to listen to me so we can assure the safety of you and her. Now I want you to try to make Murkrow flinch with Astonish. After that come back and use Peck on Murkrow. However, I need you to not get attacked. Do whatever you can to dodge. Same goes for you Starly. Alright guys lets go!” Oak shouted. He was ready to be a hero.

The Swablu looked at you for a moment, its bird eyes staring at you. It wasn't sizing you up, but it knew you wanted to help. It wanted to follow orders desperately, but alas, she was only obedient to her trainer. Strange thing is though, that she seems to be keeping eyes on your Starly. To her, he was so heroic, and so strong, as well as so handsome. Oh, looks like I said to much. Oh well, shall we get on with the battle? Well, what happened next came from the emo haired guy. He scoffed at the fact that you were helping the blonde girl, when he yelled, saying, "Are you seriously going to help that bimbo?! Do you know what she did?! Me and her were going out, and she flirted around with all of my friends! That girl deserved what was coming to her, and now that you are helping her, you do to!" Wow, so thats why he was coming after her! Love... I guess it makes the world go around.

Either way, the blonde girl's eyes were stained with tears. She looked up at you, and said, "Its not true... I was just being nice to them, and he got all jealous and thought that I was flirting, please believe me..." The girl seemed tear strucken, and the Swablu, knowing her really well, hopped over towards the trainer, and looked at her, thinking about whether she should follow the same instructions you gave. Her trainer looked up, quietly, and nodded. Your smiling at her made her feel a bit better, as she was desperate for help, and boy, you were giving it to her.

Starly was about to move, but the haste that Swablu moved in to protect the trainer was fast! The Swablu quickly went at the bird, and used Astonish, but not much damage had been dealt. The bird continue, as she pecked at the Murkrow, but the Murkrow did not want damage at ALL. The Murkrow quickly flapped its wings, shooting up gusts of wind, that proved to blow back the Swablu. Swablu went flying, and fell atop of Starly. Her trainer looked worried, as Swablu was in serious condition. Your Starly looked at Swablu, putting her gently down onto the floor, and looked back at Murkrow, growling angrily. He quickly sped off, trying to use his right wing and his tail feathers to speed up himself, as he ran into the Murkrow with a Tackle, sending it flying back.

The Murkrow stood back up after some struggle. It was in serious condition as well. For now, the emo haired guy yelled, saying, "Focus on increasing your defenses for now Murkrow!" The Murkrow nodded, doing so, as the bird focused, and power flew throughout its veins, and its skin became rougher, temporarily. This battle was hard, but it seemed like you would be able to finish it soon!

Oak shook his head listening to the stories of both the girl and the emo haired boy. He honestly didn't care what the reason was for all the aggression the boy had for the girl. Oak just didn't find it right that a boy was ready to strike a girl, even with his Pokémon. And Starly obviously didn't feel too good about the guy either. This gave Oak all the more reason to help.

Oak carefully watch the battle, making sure not to miss anything. He not only had to worry about Starly's condition, but also Swablu's. This wasn’t looking to great. He peered over at the strange bird Pokémon and tried to examine it as best as he could from where he stood. From what Oak could see, he figured another attack would finish Swablu and he couldn't let that happen.

Oak slid his hand down his belt and onto another one of his pokeballs. It was the pokeball containing Koffing. He was half tempted to launch the pokeball and have Koffing help guard Swablu. However after thinking it through he decided not to. This was Starly's battle. He wasn't going to stop him from finishing yet again. They were going to have to pull through.

Oak looked over at the girl. "Swablu. Use Focus to raise your defense. After that just stay back and try as best as you can not to get hit. If you have any ranged attacks you can use them, but whatever you do; don’t get close," Oak called out with a bit of urgency in his voice. Next he turned to his own Pokémon, Starly. "Alright boy, it’s time to finish this match. Go ahead and start with Focus to raise your attack. Once you do that, go in with a Tackle attack!" Oak called out. He hoped that this would be the end of the battle and that the Tackle would finish Murkrow off.
