What happens when you throw a Pokeball at a pokemon that's already been caught?

Simple explanation: You can't catch it.

Detailed Explanation: That pokemon is already added into the "profile" of its trainer which also works as a sort of shield against other trainers catching it. ^^

In Pokemon world, there are two things that can break the bond between Pokeball and Pokemon without destorying the Pokeball first. The Snag Machine, and Mewtwo's Dark Balls.

You can't have either :P .

But you can always smash the caught Pokemon's original Pokeball and catch it :)

'Cuz that wouldn't be obvious and the Pokemon would love you if you tore it away from its trainer. </sarcasm>

What if it hated it's trainer, or was indifferent? Traded Pokemon, what about those? DO they hate their new trainer?

Not necessarily true as traded pokemon or more likely to disobey their masters. The answer is no though. You can't catch caught pokemon here though

Actually I think that this is a rather interesting idea. Team Rocket stole Pokemon all the time in the anime. While they were stopped, it was still proven that it was a possibility. So why wouldn't it be a possibility here?

I've seen someone convince a Koffing that belonged to someone else to join them, therefor catching a caught Pokemon. It makes sense, as long as the Pokemon wants to be caught by someone else or force is used, such as Team Rocket stealing Pokemon, then I think it should be okay to catch it like that.

But, now here's a qeustion, what would HAPPEN? Will the ball blow up and turn into a pheonix and blow away? Or will it just hit the pokemon and not when do anything liiikee....*throws a ball in someone's face* like that? Ooooorrr will it 'catch' it, but seem like you failed at the catch and the pokeball will be thrown back. Or maybe the pokeball will break?

THat was me. I am that epic. Booyah. I like the idea of Scion having a "Snag" machine though, it'd be fun. I'd join up.

Let me take something that was told to me IC by my own Pokemon.

Quote:

Our DNA is read by the devilish machines and we are forced under the control of whomever the pokeball belongs to

The Pokeball virtualizes your Pokemon inside, the PC uses similar technology (at least in the transfer aspect. In the Manga, it was told that your Pokemon stay in there in suspended animation while in the Anime your Pokemon gets released into the Pokemon Lab's care. The Video Games support the Manga version better.)

Regardless of where it goes in the PC, the point is your Pokemon got turned into Data. So, I'd assume that when a Pokeball captures a Pokemon, it puts a signature on it that prevents other Pokeballs from catching it. Its not that you couldn't have a Pokeball that ignored it, its that you DON'T have Pokeballs that ignore it. They'd be highly illegal, and very unfeasible due to the fact that you'd need your own fully functional Pokeball factory and a way to get the raw materials. The operation would be easy to thwart for the authorities. So much so that its easier to get and use a Snag Machine than to create Thief capable Pokeballs.

I think she means, like, how would you describe it visually. Not WHY.

Liiike....A dog is brown and when he/she sees food, drool appears. Like a pokemon rocks back and forth when you're capturing a wild pokemon.
