Bite?

Bite? You're probably wondering.. W.T.F? why is some random noob posting a topic titled 'Bite', and to be honest, it's probably why you opened this topic to begin with. But, I'm glad you did.

In the 'Global Attack List' There are a small variety of moves, that, most Pokemon should be able to 'naturally' do. But to be honest, I think you're kind of missing one?

Any Pokemon with Teeth, naturally, should be able to bite, I'm not saying it should be the actual Bite move.. rather a weaker, normal version of the attack that could be named.. Chomp or something?

Tell me what you think! don't worry, I won't bite, and hey, even if I do, I'm only a harmless green dinosaur.

O_o hmm, that could actually be the reason for it, you never know.

But them growing teeth when they learn an attack doesn't make much sense to me..? that's like saying.. Zangoose grows it's claws when it learns slash.. and what about Seviper, it's fangs are quite clearly seen on it's Sprite etc, It doesn't know bite from word go.

I was wondering about that. I looked at the moves my Seviper could learn and thought "So... I seriously have to teach it how to do things like bite and lick? I may as well teach it out to breathe and poop, too." I suppose you could say the actual "Bite" attack is different (maybe explaining why it's a dark-type move).

They don't have things like Tackle on the list, or Growl, both of which are pretty basic, so, maybe they're just trying to keep it as small as possible?

Re-read the list, they don't have the exact move tackle and the exact move growl, but they have moves which are pretty much the same/have the same effect etc.

Better yet, I'll bring it to you.

Intimidate - User uses natural noises/motions to frightens the opponent from attacking with full strength.
Growl - Lowers Attack

Meaning; Intimidate = Growl on a Weaker Level.

Same goes with tackle, only.. it's Belly flop being the similar move, if you understand where I'm coming from.

Which brings to the question, why isn't there a weaker version of bite? :D

You're right. I guess they don't have an equivalent to bite on that list. I wonder how many other moves there are that should probably have something like that.

The move could be called "Nibble!" I agree with Bite being on the Global Attack List, for sure. It isn't something that should have to be taught. It'd just be a normal type attack, with biting. A lot weaker than a real Bite attack.

Me likey that name lots! *nibbles on Cody's rainbow egg* Sowwy, I'm hungwy :(

No, but in all seriousness, there definitely should be one, it makes sense to put it there.

Biting is a natural instinct/thing for a lot of animals when they come under threat, wouldn't it be the same in the Pokemon world?

I think one of the main reasons is because not everly last thing can learn the moves. Agility was a mistake to be put on the list and was abused greatly. As for bite mainly the mammal like Pokemon (some) can learn the attack, while the fish, birds, and the weird crap cannot learn the move and therefore makes it wierd to be placed on the list.

Strike - Uses natural weapons (appendages, or other weapons) to attack a target.

Natural Weapon = Claws or Teeth

Then you'd be using strike and not bite.

SO you could have your Pokemon use Strike with their teeth? I'm not sure if teeth are limbs or appendages. I completely agree there should be a weak Bite attack. Agility never made sense to me, but Nibble should most definitely show up.

It will need to be comething every Pokemon can use. Every move on the GAL is something that can be used by all including Flap as all the user does is flap a part of their body. While the wanted effect may not be given, it is a usable move. Tentacool, Magikarp, Pidgey, and Nosepass cannot bite enemies and these were just the few off the top of my head.
