After what happened about a month ago with the month mod awards or whatever, I thought up a new way that might reward staff and possibly motivate them to mod more without them getting too much a reward. So here it goes. Moderators, UMods, Gmods, Profilers, Admins..ect will recieve money per ref they do for two weeks. At the end of every 2 weeks, they will recieve a "paycheck" for the refs they did. The week will start on lets say a friday and end in two weeks on thursday. That friday they will receieve there "check" and the new one will be started. Now, I am sure that there is a hidden Staff Forum, for I have seen staff talk about it before. So somewhere in there, each member of the staff will create a topic for the paycheck(two weeks) for example. April 10th - April 23rd. They will edit the post with every ref they do, stating the name of the member and the approx time they reffed them. Therefore Admins will have the power to go through and look at the refs to not only see how many refs the mod is doing, but also to see how the refs quality is. Admins will then have the power to veto the ref (Make it worth 0 pay) or if it is a great quality ref they can double the pay for that ref. Ok, so if you get me so far, here will be the pay they will receive. Moderators will recieve $1 per ref they do. It doesnt seem like much, but if you think about it, if they do 10-20 refs a week, then thats $20-40 a paycheck and $40-80 a month. Not bad for doing your job you offered to be right? Gmod/UMod/Retired Staff will recieve $1.5 per ref they do. If a paycheck results with a .5, it will be raised to the nearest whole dollar. Admins will receive $2 per ref they do, seeing how they are most likely working on other things around the site. So if they are also reffing, they deserve a little more. Profilers/Head Profilers will receive $1 per profile, and $1 per journey start. So what does everyone think about this? |

The idea is decent, but staff accepted their responsibility when they took their job, why do they need to be payed to make them have better motivation? Staff do an excellent job on this forum, so I don't see the point of this idea. |

^^ Thats right. I've seen the payment system before on Akaiyo and it really did work, but it tends to become an unfair advantge over the members that don't have this system to keep their finacial status in check. |

If its in game prizes, shouldn't be done to begin with. Staff PCs that are given advantages simply because they are Staff slowly turn them into NPC PCs attaining heights of power only a couple of Members ever have hope of achieving. The point of not having Admin benefits on Admin PCs is simple, all PCs should be on the same playing ground. The staff can have all the fun they want with NPCs anyway. A good system to keep accurate track of staff, well, its up to the Admins how they want to track everyone else. |

While the idea would probably help to increase moderator activity, there are other problems which arise, such as members applying for modship simply to do lazy refs for extra cash etc. All of the staff joined of their own accord, because they WANT to ref. They enjoy it, and want to help make the site a better place. If we start paying the staff then the reasons to be a staff member become selfish and the quality of the RPing goes down. Furthermore, implementing a system such as this just means a whole lot more work for staff, checking off the refs made and actually seeing to it that the payment gets delivered. Also, like Tas said, all PCs should be on an equal footing IC, and aside from occasional and small rewards for exceptional refs, we do try to ensure that we receive no benefits from being a staff member. |
