Suggestion: Pokemon RPers

From my understanding, I don't really like Taso's idea, either. Consider this: I have a trainer account. I happen to catch a level 30 Kadabra on the account. I decide that I want a second, Pokemon, account. So, I release the Kadabra and have that be the second account. Now, I'm playing as a level 30 Kadabra character that I didn't have to bother training from level 5. That seems more than a bit unfair to me, considering that most other Pokemon RP'rs would be starting from level 5.

It seems to me that implementing Shad's idea for everybody would make the randomness of the starter list obsolete. Why would anybody ever pick from the starter list if they could just pick the Pokemon that they want based on the length of the history? Say I write a trainer history to get that rare pokemon A. The profiler deems that the quality isn't good enough. So, I modify my history for common pokemon B. Now, I've gotten a pokemon that like without even having to bother with the list. I'm not sure that this is a bad thing. I'm just trying to point it out.

Also, I'm not entirely sure that it would be unfair to allow Pokemon RP'rs to pick their Pokemon, but not allow trainers to do so. If a trainer wants a certain Pokemon, they can go out and catch it. If a Pokemon RP'r wants to be certain Pokemon, their only choice is to start with it. They're not just starting with a Pokemon, they're defining they're character. Not to mention that the game is a little different for Pokemon RP'rs. The prestige that comes with having a rare Eevee means very little if you are playing as one. I'm not entirely sure about the really strong Pokemon like dragons. But, I do know that they're basic forms really aren't all that impressive and they take forever to evolve. Either way, the dichotomy between the way that starters affect Pokemon accounts and the way they affect Trainer accounts already exists. It's already not equal, and trying to figure out whether they're fair in relation to each other would be like comparing apples to oranges.

To be honest, I like the idea of giving Pokemon RP'rs more freedom in choosing their character. Many histories, such as my own character's, are entirely dependant on the specie of Pokemon. It sucks to see the pokemon you want to play as, write the profile application, which entirely depends on that specie, and come to find out that somebody has taken the pokemon off the list. You can't just modify your character's history slightly to fit another Pokemon, as you can with most trainers. I don't see much of a difference between Falcon's method and Shad's method. I would only favor Shad's slightly, because it has an objective minimum requirement, which may help to avoid arguments later. Furthermore, if the player puts effort into their character histories, they should easily meet the requirements of what both Falcon and Shad are thinking of. If the player has clearly put work into their profile and is dependant on being able to choose that specific Pokemon, as most Pokemon profiles should be, they should be able to play as it.

Good point, if its abused the level could reset. Merely having the Pokemon could unlock it from Pokemon RP use, and not having to release it. If you have a Ditto, you can be a Pokemon RPer Ditto.

Regardless of that, its not that I don't agree with anything thats said against my method. They are all good points.

But I don't see how +1200 words can compare to pages of journey topics required to obtain some Pokemon. That would be a background comparable to mine own, mines 1252 words. It only took a few days to write it, and it came here after many months of revisions. (Its bigger than it was originally.) Although, considering that my background was able to get me what i have today..

Thats my opinion, I'm not going to argue about it. Feel free to discuss this without me ;) .
