I Watched a Prostitute Stab a Clown

Ah Millenia Town, What a perfect place to begins ones journey. The place itself was a perfection combination of urban and city life. Not as crowded as Kitjutsu City and you also didn’t have to walk 2 mi in the rain for one lousy cup of sugar. Of course this town did have its dumps, usually found in the more technological parts of town. Though, you probably already knew about all this; seeing as you lived here your whole life and knew every nook and cranny this place had to offer. Except, that is, the one you found yourself in now. You and you Drowzee were now in one of the most disgusting parts of town. The foul stench of rotten eggs and Pokemon dropping filled the air and the faint sound of various metal and wooden objects banging together could be heard over the gulls annoying cries. Right now I suppose you are dying not only to know what awful hellhole you had managed to find yourself in, but also, to get out of their as fast as possible. Well to answer your first question, you had somehow managed to wander into the alley behind Pastille’s Restaurant on the border between the industrial and urban part of town. How Mr. Pastille still managed to get customers with that smell is beyond me, but that’s beside the point. At this moment all you and Drowzee wanted to do was to get out of here and fast. Easier said than done for there was one obstacle in your way. But a mere few feet in front of you was a…Rattata. But, not just some run of the mill Rattata, no just looking at this one would cause even a grown man to scream out it horror. The rat was covered from head to tail with various pieces of trash, dirt, and grim. Its eyes were blood red and to make matter worse, it was foaming from the mouth and ready to attack either you or Drowzee. It was obvious that something was not right with this Rattata. Fight it or get the hell out of there, your choice. Word of advice though, if you didn’t do anything soon it surely will. Enemy Level 5 35/35 100%

Thomas had somehow managed to wander into this disgusting place, only to be attacked. How... predictable. A rattata is, of course, no incredible threat, though the apparant illness was a cause for concern. He couldn't help but flinch at the sight of what appeared to be a tiny piece of rabid garbage. That and the smell was enough that he began to consider running away to look for a grimer. But such an attempt would be illogical. He looked over to Drowzee, who appeared to be paralyzed in fear, staring wide-eyed at the sickly rodent, shivering. In annoyance, Thomas snapped his fingers a few times, yelling, "Snap out of it!" He nudged her forward slightly, giving her orders. "Use Hypnosis if you can, then run and follow up with a Belly Flop!" It was a risky strategy, but there weren't many to choose from, at the moment. You were right about one thing, at least - you didn't have many strategies to utilize right now. Your only Pokemon was a Drowzee, a creature that didn't have a lot of offensive skill early in life (as compared to, say, a Farfetch'd). However, while Drowzee weren't offensively-minded, they were especially good at a certain status ailment we all know and love. Well, other than the foes on the receiving end. So, you had that going for you, at least. A sleeping rabid Rattata is better than a rabid Rattata using Quick Attack, in any case. Wait, what? Drowzee was suddenly struck by a blurry streak of purple and mouth-foam. She staggered back a step, then was hit again with another lightning-fast blow. This seemed to shake her confidence considerably, as her species wasn't well-equipped for matters of agility either. The Rattata seemed to revel in her anxiety, and chattered nonsense to himself as drool dripped down his chin. However, he ended up distracting himself, giving your Pokemon time to come to her senses and begin her Psychic onslaught. "Drooooow... Drow... Droooowwwzeeeee..." The Rattata's eyes glazed over, then slowly his eyelids fell, and he slumped forward in a deep sleep. Yay! Drowzee did something useful! She was so pleased by her success that for a moment she had forgotten the second part of your commands. Stalking forward, she waited until she was a foot away from the rodent before cheerfully jumping onto her opponent as if he was a big, fluffy pillow. Then she got off, backed up a few feet, and stared at him. Still asleep? ... Yeah. Okay good. As an afterthought, she wiped a bit of mouth foam from her gold-brown fur. Wouldn't want to catch his disease, after all. "Quite an interesting battle we have here!" someone said directly behind you, possibly causing you to jump a little if you weren't expecting it. If you turned to look at this person, you would find a scrawny, rather geeky-looking boy with lots of freckles and thick, curly brown hair. He had a clipboard and was taking notes, of all things. "Don't mind me, I'll just be evaluating your performance. Please, continue." Well, okay, but seriously, did he have to stand RIGHT behind you? Wasn't it a little hard to watch the battle from that viewpoint? Which begs the question ... Was he really taking notes, or was he perhaps merely doodling like an uninterested psychiatrist? She had finally gotten the rat to sleep. Still, she seemed to have taken more damage in the short fight than the rattata did. He looked back at the young man taking notes. That was certainly unusual, but it was no cause for alarm. Ignoring him, he gave the Drowzee her orders. "Use pound continuously until it wakes up. If it begins to stir, use another Belly Flop to knock it out." he said, calmly. Drowzee trumpetted a bit and stretched tiredly before readying herself to attack a sleeping, sick rat. She began flailing her trunk and arms wildly. It was no great deal to bludgeon an unconcious rodent, but she seemed to think it was. Thomas glanced back at the young man, slightly disturbed. Perhaps it wasn't the act of attacking the slumbering Rattata that worried your Drowzee, but rather the risk of awakening it and getting bitten. After all, no one wants to contract a disease, especially a potentially dangerous one. Still, it seemed there was no other way to handle this confrontational foe. And the two of you were doing a great service for the citizens, of course; a fainted Pokemon could easily be taken to the Pokemon Center by PokeControl and cured of rabies. And wasn't it better to snuff out this potential biohazard than let it run rampant and bite small children? Your "evaluator" seems to think so, at least. After you had given Drowzee her orders, the note-taker made a disparaging noise and began to scribble loudly. This caused Drowzee to hesitate slightly. Was there something wrong with the way you were directing the fight? Still, she wasn't going to go against your request, so she decided to ignore the other human and carry out the commands. So she hurried forward the few feet that seperated her and the still-snoozing rodent. Eww ... It was still foaming ... Smack! Smack! Drowzee laid into the Normal-type with two strong Pounds and was about to start a third when her opponent twitched and groaned in his sleep. Thinking she had woke him, Drowzee hastily jumped into the air and landed on the Rattata in a pro-wrestling-esque move. However, this extra 70 pounds began to weigh on the Rattata's lungs, and the sudden sharp decrease of oxygen intake caused him to really wake up. Not that he could do much once awake, except flail under the Drowzee. And not even the actual move Flail. "Ratta - ra - tata!" the mouse wheezed, probably trying to convince his attacker to show a little mercy. But she didn't move, because she had a good feeling that if she let him go, not only would you be annoyed, but there was always the chance that she would get bitten. "Looks like your strategy backfired," the clipboard kid stated. "Is this your first Pokemon?" Was he trying to poke fun at your inexperience? I'd like to see this kid try his hand at a real battle. Drowzee had made the mistake of using the demeaningly-named 'Belly-Flop' much too early, and waking it up. She also seemed to be causing quite a bit of damge to the rodent's respiratory system. He had originally assumed that the large difference in mass between the two species would give him an edge while using 'belly flop'. This appeared to quite an error, as besides the suffocation, the Rattata seemed little worse for wear. "Looks like your strategy backfired, is this your first pokemon?" Slightly annoyed now, Thomas answered blandly. "Yes it has, and she is." He probably should have interrogated the young man then and there, but that was last-priority, at the moment. "Drowzee! We're not trying to kill it. Get up, but keep it pinned if you can and focus all your energy to put it into a deep trance with hypnosis. I'm afraid this battle must end." He would have to try to manually transport it to a pokemon center. It was a last-resort, but he didn't like where this battle was going, so he was going to take the easy way out. Though the particular method was somewhat dangerous, he found this to be the only logical choice. He was not unaware of the difficulties, of course. First and foremost, could Drowzee successfully maneuver to pin the Rattata without being bitten or allowing it to escape? She may also have to take a bite or two in the process, and he wasn't sure that she would be able to handle that. Secondly, could she put it in a deep enough trance to knock it out a second time? And thirdly, could he safely pick it up and take it to the Pokemon Center without it waking up too soon? And finally, could the Pokemon center's facilities accomodate a wild pokemon with an unkown illness? |

Drowzee was so much heavier than the Rattata that keeping the rodent pinned was relatively easy. The only drawback was that Drowzee was still uncomfortable handling a Pokemon with a potentially contagious disease. So, keeping one hoof firmly planted in the small of the rabid rat's back, she maneuvered herself around to Rattata's face, where she began her most useful skill - Hypnosis. "Zeee.... Zeeeeee.... Droooowzeeee...." Unable to look away, the Rattata fell back into a slumber, and your Pokemon heaved a sigh of relief. "You're actually giving up? Interesting," the note-taker commented, following you and Drowzee (who carried the Rattata) as you headed to the Pokemon Center. "Of all the battles I've documented today, this one was by far the least interesting out of all of them. Tell me, why did you take pity on it? Don't you want your Drowzee to level up?" he interrogated you, scrutinizing you with narrowed eyes as though the answer would be visible somewhere on your body. He followed you inside whether you wanted him to or not, and when a nurse approached wondering what was wrong, he didn't hesitate to speak up in your stead. "We suspect this Rattata has rabies," he told her stoically. "Rabies? That's very serious! I'm going to need to take both Pokemon in for examination," the nurse replied with a worried look on her face. Drowzee followed her into an examination room with the Rattata in tow, leaving you and the note-taking guy in the lobby. Great. "Your Pokemon is probably fine. The chance of catching rabies indirectly through saliva is approximately 0.0000397%. Now that we have a moment, there's something I'd like to discuss with you." Oh great, what did he have to say now? More critique? "It was embarrassingly obvious during that battle that your Pokemon doesn't have much in the way of offense, if you know what I mean. Have you ever considered move tutoring?" he asked you seriously. "It's a popular technique used to get around the starting attacks of most low-level Pokemon. If you're interested, I could show you how. It might make things easier on your Drowzee." He was ... actually being nice to you for a change. Maybe all that note-taking was useful for something. |

Thomas was surprised that his last-resort had actually been something of a success. He began to pay more attention to the observant boy. "You're actually giving up? Interesting. Of all the battles I've documented today, this one was by far the least interesting out of all of them. Tell me, why did you take pity on it? Don't you want your Drowzee to level up?" "Levelling-up was never a primary objective. This Rattata's offensive capabilities would obviously make a good addition to my team if all goes well." He carefully petted the rodent's head as Drowzee carried it. She sneezed at him indignantly, in response. As they walked inside, Thomas couldn't help but glare at the young man speaking for him. "We suspect this Rattata has rabies." He sat down watched as his pokemon followed the worried nurse into the examination room. He took a quick look through his poketch and found the Zaroff Lottery, and typed in five simple and obvious sets of numbers, (one per ticket) 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, and 21-25. He quickly opened his laptop and typed in some observations on both pokemons' offensive abilities, before he was interrupted by the boy. "Your Pokemon is probably fine. The chance of catching rabies indirectly through saliva is approximately 0.0000397%. Now that we have a moment, there's something I'd like to discuss with you. It was embarrassingly obvious during that battle that your Pokemon doesn't have much in the way of offense, if you know what I mean. Have you ever considered move tutoring? It's a popular technique used to get around the starting attacks of most low-level Pokemon. If you're interested, I could show you how. It might make things easier on your Drowzee." Thomas thought for a moment, with a blank expression. "Before I take you up on that, just why are you so interested in my pokemon? Do you have any pokemon of your own?" The moment you made it clear that you weren't level-focused, the boy's stare hardened for a moment. Then he turned to his clipboard and scribbled like mad, flipping the paper up to get to the next sheet at one point. He wrote so much the lead broke on his pencil and he had to root around in his pockets for a pencil sharpener. After a while, the hastily scrawled chicken scratch slowed and finally came to a halt. "You mean to tell me you actually want to keep that creature? Nonsense." He waved a hand as if to knock your plans out of the air. "That feral Pokemon wouldn't possibly accept you. Why, moments ago the two of you were engaged in combat. Though admittedly a Rattata has more of an offensive arsenal than a Drowzee ... Still ..." He frowned at your question. Did you really have any right to ask for details about his personal life? Of course, if he had voiced that question, you could have easily countered by pointing out his strange need to document your prowess as a trainer for a reason not yet made clear. However, whatever the reason might have been, it was reason enough for him to heave an annoyed sigh and relent. "I did own Pokemon at one time. However, walking around a continent fighting famous people for little pieces of shiny metal did not interest me. Dreams of competing on stage in a Pokemon beauty contest did not enter my head. And I had no patience to try and get two compatible Pokemon to procreate. My only calling in life is my research, to which I am devoted." The boy didn't elaborate further; out of the corner of his eye he saw the nurse from before returning to the lobby with Drowzee tailing her. "There's some good news. Your Drowzee has not contracted rabies." "See, I told you," the researcher boy muttered under his breath. "However," the nurse continued, raising her voice with a stern look, "Rattata's case was pretty advanced. I've given him the proper treatment and his body appears to be reacting well to the medicine. However, I want to keep him overnight just to be safe, if that's okay with you. In the meantime, you're more than welcome to stay here at the Center in one of our trainer rooms." It seemed that she really did have Rattata's best interests in mind. She didn't realize that the Rattata in her care didn't actually belong to you, but you wanted to catch him anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal. "See you in the morning," she said with a gentle smile before returning to the ICU. "Are you really going to waste your time in this Pokemon Center for one common rat?" the boy smirked. "Kindness is admirable, but don't expect that Pokemon to return it! For all he knows, you're the one who hurt him in the first place." He folded his arms with a satisfied look. "I never liked Rattatas, myself. They're too ... simple. I mean, there's just no mystery to them at all." Now it was time for you to evaluate how much that Rattata was worth. Was he worth wasting a day in Millenia Town? The boy did have a point; it wasn't guaranteed that the wild creature would be grateful in any way, much less be willing to accompany you. In that case, should you leave him behind to pursue your other goals? And where did that leave nerdy-kid? I wonder just how far he would follow you ... How was your journey going to contribute to his research, anyway? People are weird. |

Thomas dully made note of his frantic scribbling. Just what was he writing about him in those papers? "You mean to tell me you actually want to keep that creature? Nonsense. That feral Pokemon wouldn't possibly accept you. Why, moments ago the two of you were engaged in combat. Though admittedly a Rattata has more of an offensive arsenal than a Drowzee ... Still ..." "I am well aware of the situation. But it can choose to live out its life in a disease-ridden back alley to be picked off by a pidgey or ekans, or it can come with me. Besides, I doubt I will need much of an arguement, given its current condition." "I did own Pokemon at one time. However, walking around a continent fighting famous people for little pieces of shiny metal did not interest me. Dreams of competing on stage in a Pokemon beauty contest did not enter my head. And I had no patience to try and get two compatible Pokemon to procreate. My only calling in life is my research, to which I am devoted." "I can respect that," he said simply, with a slight nod. He watched as the Nurse walked into the front room. "There's some good news. Your Drowzee has not contracted rabies. However, Rattata's case was pretty advanced. I've given him the proper treatment and his body appears to be reacting well to the medicine. However, I want to keep him overnight just to be safe, if that's okay with you. In the meantime, you're more than welcome to stay here at the Center in one of our trainer rooms. See you in the morning." Thomas motioned for Drowzee to come and take a seat. She seemed to dislike the schoolboy somewhat, and sneezed at him noisily. "Are you really going to waste your time in this Pokemon Center for one common rat? Kindness is admirable, but don't expect that Pokemon to return it! For all he knows, you're the one who hurt him in the first place. I never liked Rattatas, myself. They're too ... simple. I mean, there's just no mystery to them at all." "They are a common pokemon, true enough. That in itself does not limit their potential. And I think you are underestimating the mental capacity of most pokemon," he said, receiving an approving look from Drowzee. "I'm in no hurry to leave the city just yet, and I've time to spare, anyway." He noticed Drowzee starting to stare blankly at the young boy. It was the exact same look she gave when using hypnosis. He quickly got out her pokeball and abrubtly recalled her before she could cause any trouble. He took out his pokedex and looked over the moves that Drowzee was capable of learning. He knew that the species was famous for their Hypnosis/Dream-Eater combo, and wasn't dissapointed. He also pondered the idea of working on Drowzee's other psychic potentials, such as telepathy. But that could wait. What were you saying about move tutors? Edited by Merlin, Aug 20 2009, 08:29 PM.

The nerd raised half a brow curiously, watching you as you gave your response regarding it's level of choice. "Interesting..." He muttered, adding to his notebook more scribbles all the while. The process was repeated with your later mini-monologue on the varied intelligence of pokemon, as well as potential limitations... Although this segment managed to get quite a bit more random scrawling. Finally, you asked a question that managed to stop his scrawling momentarily. "Eh? Oh, right. Yes, I was going to offer to help you train your pokemon to be just a little more useful, to know more attacks than just what she's got base." He seemed very matter of fact as he barked this out. "It's a large part of my research." He hummed softly, watching you all the while. "Interested, are we?" He watched you, almost ignoring his pencil in the process. "As a sidenote..." He said, almost uninterestedly, glancing sideways and waving his hand around. "You could ALWAYS ask other trainers to help you tutor your drowsy some... Or go to that 'Tutor's Touch' place." He watched you, slyly, almost as though he held some relation to a serpent. "But I'm not sure I trust them much... Besides, you get a stronger bond with your pokemon when you do it yourself." He either didn't address, or didn't notice your Drowzee's botched attempt to shut him up, since he didn't mention it. |

This boy was a fellow pokemon researcher? That was certainly a happy coincidence, even if it wasn't really surprising. More to the point, however, Drowzee could be taught the move that made her species famous- Dream Eater. That was too good to pass up, no matter how arrogant this boy seemed to be. He waited a moment before answering him, not really acknowledging his "sidenote". He began to feel that this boy must have a tired jaw by now. "Yes, very. But it's getting late. I'd like to get some files done on my computer and check on the rattata. Can you be here tomorrow, or will you be staying here?" He waited a moment for his answer, before taking out his laptop and updating some files on this young boy and his own Drowzee. Suddenly, his poketch began vibrating. He checked through it quickly, finding that the lottery was already over. He must have entered last minute. More to the point, he had actually won something. A male, level five Mankey was in his Pokemon Storage Box. That was quite the opposition to a laid-back Drowzee! Nonetheless, he left it be for now. It was ill-advisable to persist on the value of a Rattata, and then to show the presence of a fighting-type. He got up and walked to the Trainer Rooms, hoping they would be comfortable enough to accomadate him. He could always walk back home and spend the night there, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of a leaving home in the first place. Edited by Merlin, Sep 6 2009, 10:39 PM.

"Yeah, I'll meet you here in the morning. Don't waste my time and not show.." With that, the little attitudy nerd-man left the Pokemon Center. That was.... Odd, in the least. But, a good chance to give Drowzee a decent move. You probably shouldn't miss it... Nurse Joy bid you goodnight as you passed her going to your room, but suddenly stopped you, remembered something. "Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. A wild Pokemon was brought in after being injured in a forest north of here. I checked it's bed today, and it had dissapeared. The one that brought it in left, so if you see it, would you mind catching it? It hasn't been fully healed yet, and I'm worried about it..." Well, that's probably the Pokemon equivilent of a pet store owner telling you a snake got loose in the store. But, it can't be helped. Nodding, you went to your room. After putting down your things, you did a few things around the room, then prepared to drop in for a good night's sleep. Flopping onto your bed, you shut your eyes: Only to jump up a split second later. Something was writing under your sheets, and you had just sat on it. It was probably alittle annoyed... Pulling up the covers, you saw a little silver dragon Pokemon sitting on the bed, looking pretty hurt. At first, you thought you had done that to it. Then, remembering Nurse Joy's words, you realised that this was the escaped wild she was talking about. Your Poketech beeped, and displayed information on the new Pokemon. Ooh, look at that. Thomas couldn't believe he had almost sat on a Dragon-Type pokemon, much less that one was randomly hiding in the Pokemon Center's bedsheets- even if it was more common than other dragons. Still, Nurse Joy had asked him to capture the escaped wild, even if she didn't tell him what it was. Of course, it was already injured, and a fairly docile species, so an actual fight might not even be necessary. Still, he was glad to have his Drowzee with him. A hypnosis and a pound or two might be necessary if it wasn't willing to come with him. He stepped back a few feet and calmly released the psychic tapir. She appeared sitting down, yawning, with a very annoyed look on her face. She snorted at Thomas unduly loudly, stretching her arms. She didn't seem to like being called in and out constantly, this late at night. Strange, since Drowzee were natural insomniacs. Thomas gently and quietly gave her his orders. "See if you can earn her trust, and use a simple hypnosis. If you can't make her trust you, then use hypnosis and two good pound attacks." It seemed simple enough, but Chanyu was a very agile pokemon capable of telepathy. It could be very difficult to maintain eye contact with such an evasive pokemon. As an afterthought, Thomas made sure that the door was fully closed, so there was no escape. Edited by Merlin, Sep 13 2009, 12:58 PM.

Earn it's trust? Yeah, fat chance.... It's already hurt, and you just sat on it. I'd so be you're friend in it's situation. So, you can pretty much count on a battle about now, can't you? Seeing the Chanyu still hostile, even after Drowzee had had a small chat with it, it was obvious that this was now a battle. Stepping back, Drowzee began to fire a Hypnosis at the small dragon. The Chanyu saw this attack coming, however, and blasted itself through the air in a Quick Attack. The undodgably fast attack went staight through the hypnotic waves Drowzee was generating, and the Chanyu fell asleep mid-attack. However, it was still traveling with great velocity. Not going to get into the physics, because it'd make me look dumber then dirt by how bad I'd screw up on it... But, Chanyu did still smash into Drowzee with great, even critical force. Thought it had crashed hard, it was still asleep as it's levitation slowly faded and it plopped onto the floor. Obeying it's orders, Drowzee ran forward and pounded it hard twice. It probably didn't like being rammed into like that and wanted some revenge time. And that sentence really sounded like it had two meanings... Didn't it? Well, the Chanyu had managed to do more damage then your two attacks with a single Quick Attack, before falling asleep. Even as a weaker link of the dragon family, this little bastard was still pretty good, wasn't it? Well, you can't really tell too much yet. Most of that strong hit was the result of deadweight crashing like a rock.... But, anyway, it still does have some good level advantage over you, doesn't it? I'd just thank the heavens that it doesn;t have any STAB moves right now, or you really would be screwed, weakened already or not. All in all, pray that this thing stays asleep for a while longer.
