Brolis watched as his new companion gave orders to his Pokemon, while he had yet to give any to King or Queen. He was more than ready to however, he wanted to get them learning this new mud-slap ability and that was final. Brolis smirked at all of Maji's words. He was a very wordy fellow, that was obvious. It wasn't that Brolis wasn't, because he could when he wanted to be, yet he just didn't see the need to constantly give a step by step instruction manual to his Pokemon who were more than capable of learning the moves by themselves if they truly needed. Giving the steps would be nice, but they weren't needed to be said in a "manual format" in Brolis' eyes. He then looked at both King and Queen, and kept an eye on the other two Pokemon on the opposing side. Obviously they both knew what was up. They knew how to use moves, how to strategically plan a move to stop other moves from becoming successful. That was Brolis' type of Pokemon. He knew exactly what he wanted now. He wanted that one. The prissy one was good, very good. The other, more rugged looking one hadn't really done anything super impressive yet. Though he had attacked, the prissy looking one was more smart, while the other relied on his strength. Smarts appealed more to Brolis now than strength had. Brolis than nodded and said to his two Nidoran. "Guys, it's time to keep it up. Focus all your energy towards aiming that mud-slap at the prissy one. He's smart, so keep an eye out for that little dance thing he had done earlier to evade Anastasia's attack. Though, I doubt that throwing mud would be evadable by that move. Both of you, use that mud-slap attack and see if you can do anything to throw off either of the Zangoose's natural rhythm. That's an important part to this battle. I can see that already. We need to get them no used to battling a smarter Pokemon. That's what he needs, a smarter Pokemon than himself to show him up. Lets do this!" he said smirking. The two Nidoran nodded. It was only time that could tell what was going to happen in this battle. |

Phasing Flashback Defender Vigilance
|
The overwhelming smell of freshly plucked leaves followed by the feeling of the chaotic wind that was being pushed by said leaves; One can only imagine exactly what was going through the mind of the blind Zangoose as this strange pair of sensations came to its attention. However, both of you could clearly see the look of tension that was occupying the Pokemon's face. It looked all the more wild for the way its long tussles of fur were tossed about by the furious wind. Its arms were crossed in front of its face, bracing it against the furious movements of the air. A few loose hairs were swept up by these winds and lost in the fray of leaves that were now swirling all around. These leaves varied in shape and size, as they had originated from both the surrounding environment and from the Budew itself. But, despite their differences, there was at least one thing in common among all the leaves, and it was this: They were all moving fast enough and being empowered with enough energy that getting hit by the leaves would surely be painful. Luckily for you, that is exactly what happened to the blind Zangoose, at first anyway. It stood there, allowing the first few leaves to pound it. The blows were hard, indeed, hitting it full on. It would certainly have been knocked off balance by the attack if it had not braced itself before hand. However, just taking a defensive pose was not all that it had been doing. It had also been concentrating long enough to come to what amounted to a two-fold Focus on evasion. The winds would shift every so often, influenced by the leaves that the little grass Pokemon controlled. Speaking of which, the Budew was having a tough time of it. It was using a large amount of energy to keep that many leaves moving in, more or less, a circular motion. This was especially strenuous for an attack that would already sap much of its energy. Anastasia just managed to keep the storm under control. Just as you had asked, she would forcefully propel leaves at her target every so often, while also trying to maintain the swirling mass around it. With every group of these leaves thrown at its enemy, there would be a shift in the winds. Then, the leaves would pound against the still body of the Zangoose. That is, until the vicious Pokemon had had enough. It should have been no surprise to see the blind Pokemon, who had been focusing on its evasion, suddenly spread its arms wide in the great flurry of leaves and begin to successfully dodge the attack. When a leaf shot from the right, it would lean back quickly. It easily sidestepped another bunch of leaves that came from behind. Another bunch went for its feet, and, with more grace than you would have thought possible, it jumped while leaning back to avoid the leaf that was whizzing just above its head. With a spin in the air, it managed to just land on its feet again. It continued on like this, through the rest of the Leaf Storm, elegantly dodging what came. It was only grazed once or twice through the rest of the ordeal. Though as of yet unmentioned, Damien wasn't exactly lounging about as this was happening. In fact, the little rat was doing exactly what Maj had told it to. It was using Focus Energy, enough to account for two moves worth. Although, it was concentrating the gathered energy towards its head this time. Influenced by being so close to its ratty mind, the energy began to take on a psychic flavor. It no longer allowed it to see the opponent's weak points, but something much more interesting happened in response to this sudden shift of energy types. The psychic energy actually backwashed into the mind of the Rattata, and began to influence its wielder. Damien suddenly felt all his emotions being pushed back, further and further into the most unreachable portions of its mind. This forced it to enter a state of Zen, a state of infinite calm. The psychic energy rippled back, amplified by Damien's new state of mind. It looked out towards the Zangoose as it moved amongst the storm of leaves. The rat waited for its chance to unleash its power. That chance would soon come, as Anastasia was coming to the end of her attack. The leaves slowed substantially and finally fell to the floor. The Budew was left panting heavily from the effort of the attack. While the Growth beforehand had certainly helped power up the attack, it couldn't stop all of the draining affects from it. Damien ran forward in a fashion similar to a Quick Attack, hoping to hit its opponent with its newfound power. The Zangoose, however, wasn't exactly caught off guard. It did something akin to a somersault sending it over the oncoming Rattata. As it did, it allowed one of it's claws to swing down and, setting the air a-crackle with a nasty snarl, Scratched as the surprised Damien passed underneath. The claws raked across its back as the larger Pokemon arced just overhead, and sent it tripping forward. Damien's fate shall be addressed further later, but know that it did, indeed, learn its attack. The Zangoose landed on its legs and other arm. It quickly turned its head in the direction of the panting Anastasia and snarled once more, bearing its teeth. While the blind one was dealing with the Leaf Storm of Maji's Pokemon, the prissy Zangoose was preoccupied with Brolis' Pokemon. King and Queen were trying their best to sling mud in the direction at their foe as it made its way towards them. King's first try did nothing, as it was done with little enough force that the Zangoose easily moved out of the way of the attack. Queen followed up with another Mud Slap. This was slightly better than her partner's first attempt, and it lightly hit the oncoming Pokemon, though nowhere near its face. The mud quickly rolled off and the Zangoose took another few steps before Queen sent yet another glob of mud flying in its direction. It was expected and the wild Pokemon expertly dodged the attack. Unfortunately, it moved right into King's attack. Again, King's attack wasn't enough to actually hurt the Zangoose, but it did manage to land the mud in its face. The Zangoose snarled as the mud landed in its face. With one large claw, it wiped what it could from its face and eyes. It looked at the two Nidorans sitting in the mud, its eyes now red in color. The Zangoose had been moving closer the entire time and was now upon the pair. It wasn't about to let them go unscathed for muddying its face. Lifting its arm high into the air it brought its claw down to scratch Brolis' Pokemon. Both Pokemon dodged in opposite directions. The Zangoose, however, had already picked its target and managed to rake its claws along King's skin. The male Nidoran was knocked to the ground by the much larger Pokemon. The attacker lifted its arm to repeat the malicious process. Suddenly, it turned its head as it heard a snarl from its left. It quickly took off towards the direction on all fours. Arching its back and lowering its shoulder, the prissy Zangoose went into a Quick Attack in the direction of its teammate's first call. In mere seconds, it was bearing down on Damien, who had been adequately shown up by the blind Zangoose. It's muscular shoulder audibly cracked against the small Rattata's body. Damien was sent rolling away, knocked out. The prissy Zangoose stood up on its two feet once more. It was looking quite a bit more gritty now that bits of mud were rolling off of the front of its fur. It stared back at the two Nidorans with its reddish eyes, spitting a single glob of mud to the earth. Maji looked on at the battlefield, why was it that whenever he battled his pokemon were always the first to faint? Oh well, it was too bad but he couldn't complain about it forever. "Damien, return." He ordered quickly as the small purple rat was returned to its pokeball. He held the ball tight in his hand for a moment, thanking his pokemon for working so hard, and then placed the ball back on his belt. "I really didn't want to have to use one of these for a long time." Maji said as he reached into his bag, into a case that hadn't been opened since he'd first come on this journey. He pulled out a small case, cylindrical in shape with a flap-like opening. He opened the flap and sighed, within were three shining flat, circular objects about the size of a quarter. He picked one out, a light green in color, and held it up to the light for a second to inspect it properly. With a nod, he placed the small disk into his poketech and searched through it until he found the information he had on Anastasia. "Anastasia, use Energy Ball." He ordered quickly as a light shone from his poketech unto Anastasia's form, teaching her this new attack known as Energy Ball before the used TM was expelled from his poketech as a blank disc. With that now done Maji bit his tonge, "After you use Energy Ball, I want you to use Growth again. This time, make sure your roots dig deep into the earth, find the water deep down and absorb it into your system. This is a healing move called Ingrain. All you have to do is absorb the nutrients in the ground, which you already do with Growth. But instead of using the nutrients to strengthen yourself, use them to replenish your strength." With that, Maji's commands were over. However, he reached down to his belt and grabbed the pokeball of Femme Fetale, and waited to see how this would turn out with Anastasia, keeping Femme as a backup in the event that Anastasia was unable to battle alone. {{Putting Razor Leaf on Hold, switching to Ingrain}} |

Brolis smirked when he saw the semi-successful attack done by his two beloved Pokemon. Thus far, it was both of Brolis' Pokemon on one Zangoose, and both of Maji's on the other. That was just how it was going so far. Brolis figured that it would be best to mix it up a bit, so that they could all gain more experience from winning, if they did end up winning. Brolis then looked upon the battle field and said, "Alright. It's time to buckle down and learn this move guys. The mud is still wet, so you guys can still use it. Go ahead, use this mud-slap attack again, both of you. King, use it on the prissy Zangoose, while Queen, you use it against the blind Zangoose. I know that the blind one won't see it coming, nor will he really need the extra evasiveness, yet I need you to do a double mud-slap. Both of you. Just blast them at both. King, both of yours need to be directed at prissy over there, while Queen, direct one towards prissy and one towards the blind one. Do that, I think you guys have this move down to the point of at least knowing how to use it! It's in your blood after all! Go for it!" and with that, Brolis' speech came to an end. He watched as both of his Nidoran nodded and began to ready themselves for the move. Brolis turned to Maji and watched as he pulled out what was a TM. Brolis' eyes bugged out a bit, before he realized what it was. How did Maji find that? He needed to ask, yet he'd wait until after the battle. It was the first time he had ever seen anyone use a TM before. Lets hope that Brolis could get a word in after this battle was over. Brolis, obviously, hoped that Team Brolis and Maji would win and they could move on with their training. Brolis also needed to rid himself of these Buneary. They were universal Pokemon, yet, he thought they weren't worth the trouble of dealing with. Hopefully he could find some sort of price on them. They wouldn't be of much use to him anyhow, considering they were never going to breed. After the battle, he'd put out a message saying that anyone could buy them if they needed. |

TM's are a wonderful invention. Some mad scientist decides that learning should be instantaneous, so figures out how to do it. That's the man that I want ruling the world, personally. But we don't need to get into that. With the miraculous device, Anastasia instantly gained the knowledge of how to perform a devastating grass-type attack called Energy Ball. And what better time to use a TM too? I mean, the battle wasn't going too badly, but it could be better, and with this new attack in your arsenal, you'd be cleaning up here in no time. With that, the twisted vines that made up so much of a Budew's appearance separated at the top, and between the two ends a blue-green ball of light began to form. The ball took a moment to grow to a respectable size, but nowhere near enough time for either of the Zangoose to mount a successful counter-attack. With a small tilt backwards and then a hop to throw her head forwards, Anastasia flung the Energy Ball towards the nearest of the Zangoose. The ball curved through the air while making a light humming noise, then it collided with the chest of the Prissy Zangoose. He fell to the ground heavily and didn't get up again quickly. That was good. That meant that Anastasia could start working on learning how to use Ingrain without as much chance of being interrupted. Meanwhile, King and Queen were still working relentlessly on their Mud Slap attack. I think it's safe to say that it was as good as learned at this point, but one can never be too careful, so it's best that the get it wrapped up. So, while Anastasia was charging up her Energy Ball, the two little Nidoran began flinging several more piles of mud towards their opponents. King's first was a direct hit, the only problem being that the Zangoose he'd targeted had turned around to locate the source of the humming. The mud, therefore, collided with the back of his head, meaning that the damage that it dealt was perfectly fine, but the accuracy reducing effects weren't applied. This didn't really matter though, because moments later the Zangoose was knocked to the ground and King saw his chance. With one mighty effort, he flung a huge heap of mud high up into the air and with pin-point precision he managed to bring the mud falling right down on to the face of his downed opponent. The Zangoose let out a cry shortly before he was hit, but this was soon muffled by a heap of wet dirt hitting him in the face. I'm guessing he's not a happy camper. Queen was doing almost just as well. Her first, like King's, was spot on, though due to the blindness of her foe it did little for in the way of lowering the accuracy of the Pokémon. Still, the attack did a nice little bit of damage and certainly slowed the Zangoose down in his tracks. Queen's second attack wasn't quite as successful. After King had hit that Zangoose with the first Mud Slap, he had twisted his head around to see what exactly was going on. The resulting turn of the head meant that he didn't see that Energy Ball coming straight for him which, as we discussed earlier, hit him square in the chest and knocked him to the ground. The irony of this situation is that Queen's Mud Slap was already half way to Zangoose before he fell. As he fell, therefore, the mud soared straight past and landed mere inches from Anastasia. Whoops! I guess you'd better be a little more careful about how you guys position all of you Pokémon in the future. Wouldn't want to accidentally blind one of your own. Panting slightly at the effort involved in the attack, Queen didn't notice the blind Zangoose suddenly rushing towards her. Before she had time to move away the beast was upon her and taking one mighty swing with his claw. The Fury Cutter attack cut through the little Nidoran with impressive force, causing her to tumble backwards. It's unfortunate for you that the bug-type move would deal extra damage to Queen, but thankfully she hadn't been hit before now. Also, with fury cutter not being all that powerful a move, the damage shouldn't be too severe. I just strongly recommend staying out of the way of the Cutter next turn, because the more often it hits, the more it hurts. Now with one Pokémon sort of glued to the ground with mud and another preoccupied with striking at the little blue mousy-rabbity thing, Anastasia was completely free to focus her efforts on using ingrain, which she proceeded to do. She started out exactly like she would when using her Growth move, but when she located the nutrients that she was sapping from the earth she tried redirecting them to different parts of her system. Of course, no Pokémon knows exactly how its insides work, so this part was largely trial and error. By directing the flow of energy, Anastasia felt several strange sensations, but decided that none of them were exactly what she was looking for. The first was the Special Attack boost that a growth would normally provide. Since she already knew this feeling, she dismissed it almost straight away. The next appeared to be relaxing the muscles in her feet, which she assumed would be slightly increasing her Speed stat. Having no need for this she directed the energy away from that area too, but did notice that the nutrients were now simply dissipating into her body slightly. If she didn't find somewhere to put it soon, then it'd be as good as gone. With that thought in mind Anastasia simply picked a spot and stuck the energy there, hoping that it would do what she wanted. It didn't. While her intentions were to increase her HP, it seemed that the energy had simply gone towards boosting her... well... her energy. But hey! You'd figured out three places that the energy didn't want to go, maybe next try you'd be able to narrow it down a little further. Your Team: Maji lv 7 39/39 42%(Special Attack +1) (Razor leaf 69% learned) (Energy Ball Learned) (Ingrain 20% learned) lv 7 0/39 71%(KO will still get some experience) (Learned Zen Headbutt!) Nice, this round had gone much better for Maji than the ones before it. Maybe he should've used a TM earlier, but honestly that didn't matter right now. While Maji was watching the round however he took notice of Brolis watching him, more so, watching him as he used a TM on his pokemon. Well, he did have two other TMs, and one of them was highly unlikely that he'd use, and it'd probably be useful for Brolis in this battle, and later on with his breeding career. "Hey Brolis, you should try this TM." He said as he pulled another TM from his little case, this one white in color, a normal-type attack. "It'll actually be really useful later for you, it's an attack that can cause a pokemon to fall into an infatuated state with the user. I'm thinking maybe you could use it on Queen. If I recall, it's called Attract, appropriately named, no?" Maji laughed, passing Brolis the TM hoping that his partner had seen enough earlier to know how to use it. Now it was time to get back to the battle! "Anastasia, you did great with using Energy Ball. This time, let's try to add a little flare to the attacks you use. First of all I saw how you tried to use Ingrain, and I'm proud of you for performing it as well as you did. This time around, try and search for Nutrients but store them throughout your body in order to replenish your strength and energy, not necessarily your HP. If you happen to become hurt, just focus the nutrients to where you were dealt damage, otherwise just let it flow throughout your entire body." Maji explained, it was definitely a mouth-ful, but from the looks of it, the instructions were needed for this attack. However, he couldn't just let her train Ingrain while Brolis battled, that was unfair to Brolis' pokemon. "Also, if you can't find a place to store the energy, I want you to turn it into something useful. So just like you did before, absorb solar energy into your bud and mold your own energy into it to form another Energy Ball and then wait for the timing to be perfect before you release it toward the Zangoose. If you can do this properly, you should be able to just use the energy you gain from Ingrain in order to forge energy ball. Even if you don't do it properly, most of the energy for Energy Ball comes from the sun so you shouldn't end up using too much of your own energy." Maji explained, and that was the end of it. He was ready to see Anastasia perform the attack to her fullest potential, let us just hope that that would be enough to inflict some good damage. Maji looked over to Brolis for a moment and smirked, "Y'know, since Queen hasn't inflicted much damage to the non-blind Zangoose, it should easily fall in love. Just sayin'" He smirked, giving subtle hints to his ally on what might be best for the two of them in the round. However, it was just a suggestion, nothing he could control really. Only time would tell what the effects of him giving Brolis the TM would do. However, there was something Maji could do himself as he pulled out a pokeball in secrecy. Sure, Zangoose wasn't his first choice in pokemon, but it was true that this blind Zangoose knew a very useful move for tutoring, and not only that, but as it grew and developed, it'd only learn more and more useful moves for him to teach other pokemon. So he would wait until the Zangoose was weak enough, and launch the pokeball at it. He then felt his poketech vibrate and checked to see what was wrong. He noticed a poster about the Zaroff Island lottery and decided to buy himself 5 tickets for the weekly drawing. Edited by Alternia, May 30 2009, 03:48 PM.

Brolis nodded at the very successful attack on his two Pokemon's parts. He watched as the two battled it out against this tough opponent. This Zangoose wasn't going to go down without a fight, and they were getting ever closer to winning. It was just then, that Maji had pulled out, and given him one of the TM's that he had obtained from somewhere. Brolis' eyes widened immensely as he obtained the new TM for his Pokemon. He smiled and said, "Well, thanks a bunch! Hey...here, take this in return. Hopefully he can be of some use for you. It's a Buneary." he said, taking the Pokeball off of his belt and handing it over to Maji. Hopefully that would be enough payback for this TM. Then he called to Queen. "Queen, I have something for you!" he said smiling, placing the TM disk into his very own Poketech and it was done. Now Queen knew the move, Attract. That was nice of Maji. So, he now had another trick up his sleeve. "Okay, King, keep using that Mud Slap attack. It seems as though you've completely learned the attack. Queen, it's time to use Attract. Use it on the Prissy Zangoose, then use mud slap as well. You've got it down pretty well, just time to perfect it!" he said smiling. He was ready for this new move combo. Brolis then nodded at Maji. "Already ahead of you." he said. He was ready to move on. Capturing at least one of these Zangoose would offer an awesome part of his team. He had enough Pokeballs to do so too. He just had to wait until he was completely knocked out, because if not, the Pokeball would surely be unsuccessful. [[Quick Recap: Traded Buneary for the Attract TM. Taught Attract to Queen. After a quick exchange between the two of you and yet another activation of the miraculous device which is a TM (if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm truly fascinated by TMs), you quickly turned your attention back to the battle. I'd like to say something cool like "If life had taught you anything, it would be that you should always be paying attentions", or something along those lines, but I really don't know enough about either of you to know whether that's true or not... Just pretend that I did say something wise like that though, ok? The battle seemed to have tilted in your favor recently, and nothing in the last few moments changed that. This 3-on-2 brawl was currently in the control of the larger party, for despite the higher levels of the two Zangoose, they were unable to make up for the fact that they were outnumbered, outsmarted and surrounded. The Zangoose who had been knocked to the ground by repeated attacks slowly climbed to his feet, but that was the only thing that he decided to do slowly. Once he was upright, he checked quickly around him to determine exactly where all the attacks had come from. Wiping some mud from his face he decided that the Energy ball must have come from the Budew, so that would be his first target. Anastasia, of course, still had her roots buried deep into the ground, so avoiding any type of attack from the Zangoose in the near future would probably be a bit of an issue. That's not to say, however, that she was completely helpless. Far from it, in fact. It was a beautifully sunny day, and being rooted so deep into the ground gave Anastasia almost limitless energy, which meant that she was able to produce her Energy Ball attack with barely any strain on her own body at all. The Budew took her instructions under advisement and soaked up as much as she could from the nutritious soil underfoot. She allowed the energy to wash over her entire body, restoring her strength, but also slightly increasing her abilities. It was like she'd been given a shot of adrenalin, as every part of her body was being enhanced by this newfound power. It wasn't going to last long, in fact it was likely that the effect would be ever diminishing and seeing as how it was only very slight to begin with meant that very soon it would be negligible. Ingrain was a move which would allow a Pokémon to restore its health, but could also be utilized to strengthen the Pokémon to some degree, however slight. At the moment, Anastasia hadn’t quite got it down. She could draw up the energy she needed from the soil, but she was struggling to keep it inside and to make sure it kept doing what she wanted it to be doing. With practice, perhaps she’d be able to maintain the energy boost that she receives indefinitely, or at least as long as she’s got her roots planted, but until then, she’d have to make do with what she could hold on to. But let’s get back to reality. The Zangoose was closing in quickly, claws at the ready and looking like he was about to try a Scratch attack. He leaped into the air as he drew nearer, never taking his eyes off of Anastasia. The little Budew wasn’t going to sit around waiting though. With whatever energy she could find floating around, both from within her body and from outside sources, Anastasia quickly formed up a second Energy ball with her vines and held it at the ready, waiting, like you had said, for the very best opportunity. Problem was, perfect opportunities don’t come up every day. The perfect opportunity would have been to be able to blast that Zangoose out of the sky with enough force and the right angle to prevent his scratch attack from actually making contact. Unfortunately, there was simply no point at which this was possible, so Anastasia did the next best thing. With a brilliant flash and that annoying humming nose, the Energy Ball flew into the Zangoose’s chest, and while it didn’t stop him from actually hitting the Budew, it did manage to turn him around in the air so that he was facing the other way as he fell, making a Scratch attack impossible. Of course, the impact of a Zangoose falling out of the sky and landing on its back on tom of a small plant Pokémon is still quite troublesome, and Anastasia still took a fair chunk of damage as the Scratch attack basically turned into a Belly Flop (or Back Flop, as the case may be). Admittedly not as dangerous an attack, but if it hurts, then it’s bad, right? Meanwhile, things were progressing a little strangely over in the red corner. The Attract TM had worked a treat, and it seemed that Queen was now quite the sweet-talker. She hopped up and ran over to stand beside Anastasia, and then began to… well… the only word that could be used to describe what she did is “flirt”… with the Zangoose lying on top of her. She did the whole batter-you-eyelids, lick-your-lips, show-a-little-bit-of-clea--- Oh!! ...Uh, yeah… PG-13… Got it. The Zangoose fell for the act 100%. He jumped to his feet, and forgetting about the pesky Budew he started to walk towards the Nidoran, a strange look in his eye. Queen just kept backing away, until eventually she found a nice softish bit of ground. There was enough distance between the two Pokémon that she was able to stir the earth up a bit before it was too late. Then, when the Zangoose was no more than a few feet away, she struck! The mud’s course was true, slapping the Zangoose hard in the face. He immediately raised his paws to his eyes trying to clear his vision, but had little luck. This one was in dire straits if you ask me. King wasn’t having quite as much fun, but was still doing ok. For a while, he had his work cut out for him, hopping, skipping, and jumping his way around the blind Zangoose, desperately trying to avoid his Fury Cutter technique. Luckily he managed to avoid all but one blow, so didn’t sustain TOO much damage. Eventually though, the Zangoose simply tired himself out, so King was able to strike back. With come quick paw-work he flung several piles of Mud towards the face of his aggressor. Each of the three hit squarely between the eyes. The first two merely served to irritate the Zangoose, but he clearly hadn’t expected a third to be coming too, and was knocked over easily as this one made contact. All-in-all, a very good round. I’ve got nothing else to go on about, so if there’s something missing, just use your imagination to fill in the blanks. I’m outta-here… Good luck! The last round had been a very successful round indeed, so thought Brolis. He smirked quite a bit, loving the fact that the prissy Zangoose was in love with Queen. That Attract TM worked well to his advantage. He now had lost the one Buneary, but that was all good if he was able to capture at least one of these Zangoose. Brolis rethought his plan of attack. "Great job team! I'm glad you guys all had a good round. Now it's time to recap and think." he said, but he did know he needed to think quickly. That was all fine and dandy though. Having these new moves really did help. Now that both Nidoran knew mud slap fully, things would work out well. Also, the knowledge of attract in Queen's case, was a great asset. Moving onto the battle portion, Brolis knew that he had to think of a plan. He only had three other Pokemon, all which either wouldn't be able to do much damage, or were too weak to fight. But he believed fully in Queen and King's ability to battle full fledged and have a nice outcome. He just needed to plan out his strategy right. Brolis thought, and King looked rather bored. He knew mud slap well now, so he figured that it would be a good combo time. "Alright guys, you both know the way of mud slap, and that's great. lets do this. Queen, I just need you to use a nice three move combo. Actually, both of you will be. All of your attacks need to be directed at the Prissy Zangoose. I think we've got this battle in the bag. First, for Queen. Use a tail whip to weaken his defense, then a mud slap attack for damage and accuracy, then run in with a scratch. He most likely won't hurt you back, because of his love for you. After a successful mud slap/scratch combo, I want you, King, to do your three moves. Focus your Energy to power up your attack. Then use mud slap as well, then run at him with as strong a peck attack as you can muster. Gain as much speed as you possibly can. The two of you will make a great team if you work together on that mud slap at the same time. Just keep out of each others way. If the Zangoose goes down before hand, use the next set of moves on the other one to help out Maji. I'll capture this Zangoose...I really, really will. He'll be down for the count, and I have a Pokeball. It'll be time for the capture, hopefully." he said smiling. He was enjoying the fact that a new addition to the team could be made. Zangoose, already, was a strong Pokemon. But using him, in combination with his current team, could prove very useful in the future. First, Brolis needed to finish this battle, and capture this Zangoose, then he'd have to find a way to that Jokai Pass, where that tournament was to be held. He felt that his Pokemon could do well. Hopefully that would be the case. Brolis prayed that this battle would be over soon, and a Pokeball could be thrown. If the Pokemon was weak enough, or KO'd this turn, than he would most definitely throw a regular Pokeball at him. Hopefully it'd all work out to his advantage. [[ As Shad said below, you can go ahead and GM Brolis throwing the Pokeball haha. =] Thanks. xD ]] Edited by Brolis, May 30 2009, 11:17 PM.

Maji caught Buneary's pokeball as it came toward him and noticed as Brolis had decided to arm himself with a pokeball as well. That meant that he had intentions to catch one of these Zangoose too, now all he could do was hope that Brolis wasn't aiming for the same one he was. But wait, had he just instructed his pokemon to attack the Prissy Zangoose? "Brolis, your pokemon need to be careful while attacking. Infatuation can easily be broken when the one infatuated is dealt damage from the person it is infatuated with." Maji called, hoping that King and Queen would hear 'im as well, but obviously he wasn't the one in command of them so maybe he should have kept his mouth shut. Well, right now it didn't matter because he really had to go ahead and finish up this Zangoose. "Anastasia, let's try and finish this up now. I want you to use Ingrain once more. I know it's difficult maintaining the energy in your body, but I need you to try and store it in the vascular tissue scattered through your body. It is pretty much where nutrients and water store themselves naturally, all you have to do is direct the energy throughout your entire body." He explained, trying to keep it as simple as he could though he knew it was somewhat complicated still. "Once you've found a way to do that, I want you to prepare one final Leaf Storm attack toward the Blind Zangoose, and if Zangoose doesn't look like it's going down easily, fire off an Energy Ball through the center of the Leaf Storm." Maji finished his instruction, he had come up with this combination a while ago, but wasn't sure if she would be able to handle the three-attack combo so soon. To him, it was a last resort, but to her he didn't know if she would absolutely have to follow it to a "tee" as the saying went. While this occurred he took a firmer grip on the empty pokeball and looked over to the blind Zangoose. It knew Counter, definitely useful in the long run. Now, he'd just wait for it to be weak enough before launching the pokeball at it to finally catch it. [[Feel free to GM him throwing the pokeball. Also, if he does succeed in catching the Zangoose, it has the egg move "Counter" according to Wiria's earlier post for this battle.]] |

As far as I can tell, this battle’s pretty much yours for the taking, but then, I’m just the referee; what would I know? Anyway, I shouldn’t be wasting any more time that I have to, because there’s a lot of stuff to get through in this next post, so I’ll just jump straight in, kay? Let’s start by taking a look at the current situation that’s panning out between the prissy Zangoose and the pair of Nidoran. We all know how the Zangoose is now feeling about Queen. Even after the Mud Slap that she had delivered from short range he was still truly, madly and deeply in love with the little blue rabbit (also, if you know, without having to look it up, where that comes from, you get a cookie). This infatuation would serve you well, because Queen was just using what she’s got. It’s the same old tactic of a girl walking into a bar and convincing a guy to buy her a drink, when he knows damn well that he doesn’t have a chance with her, and she’s got no intention of anything happening, but he buys her the drink anyway. Well, Queen was doing the same thing, except instead of gaining booze, she’s getting a leg-up in the battle. The infatuated Zangoose couldn’t take his eyes of her, which was an excellent help, because right at that very moment, another Nidoran was charging up behind him and about to take him down. Of course, there was no need for Queen to give up her little charade just yet, so with a cute little wag of her tail she managed to convince the Zangoose that he wasn’t in any particular danger. The following Mud Slap could quite easily be mistaken for harmless play... shame that it missed. Oh well – you can’t win ‘em all. The Mud Slap coming from the other direction didn’t miss though. King had already had ample time to use the Focus that you had directed and boost his attack for a short while, and with the Zangoose so completely and utterly under Queen’s spell there was no chance that he’d even notice King standing behind him, let alone the fact that he was under attack. The Mud to the back of the head kind of pissed him off though. He spun around in a rage, convinced that this little purple beast was attempting to steal his love interest. Well, maybe he was, or maybe he was just following orders, or maybe both. Whatever the case was, he was in the way, and needed to be dealt with. The Zangoose had already learned that King was just that little bit to nimble to hit using a Fury Cutter; the attack was driven to much by anger to get an accurate target, but another move should be able to deal with the Nidoran quite well. The move that Zangoose chose this time around was Quick Attack. No matter how speedy that Nidoran was, he wouldn’t be able to see Zangoose clearly enough to avoid that move. With that train of thought he burst forwards and slammed his shoulder into the pest. It seemed to work ok, but tackling a creature that low to the ground kind of meant that you had to dive into the attack, and that kind of movement left you open for further torture. With the Zangoose Lying on the ground, Queen saw her chance and took it. She leapt up onto the Zangoose’s back and started scratching wildly at him. The attack was quite effective because at this point in the battle he simply didn’t have the strength to fight back, nor the willpower to fight against his crush on your little blue rabbit. At this point a small red and white sphere sailed over Queen’s shoulder and clocked the Zangoose in the head. All the chasing after Queen had caused the Zangoose to become tired to the point where he was simply unable to fight his way out of this new prison, so inside he remained. Congratulations, that’s on ‘Goose in the bag. Of course, Queen wasn’t quite expecting this, and since she was still standing on the back of the now captive Zangoose, she fell to the ground and pretty much landed on her face. It wasn’t a big fall, but it didn’t look particularly comfortable. Oops. Things weren’t going quite so tidily at Anastasia’s end of the battle, but it wasn’t too bad either. Her continued focus on attempting to learn Ingrain was costing her time and maneuverability in the battle, but in the long run it would all be worth it. At least she seemed to be getting the hang of it. This time instead of simply allowing the energy to flow randomly through her body she tried to distribute it evenly everywhere she could. I’m not sure how effective the science lesson was, because I don’t even know what that tissue-stuff is, so I didn’t really expect Anastasia to, but something you said must have got through to her, because she actually appeared to be glowing with the energy that she’d been drawing up from the Earth. I don’t know how, but you really seem to have a knack for teaching this kind of stuff. The blind Zangoose wasn’t just going to stand there and let the little Budew learn new ways to increase her chances in battle though... I mean, that would just be stupid. So, with a quick charge forwards (after having stumbled backwards once he’d climbed to his feet prior to the last attack) the Zangoose pounced upon Anastasia once again, and this time there was nothing she could do in time to stop the attack. Razor Shard claws dug into the grass-type’s soft flesh causing her extreme pain, but hopefully she’d be able to deal with it. But don’t despair, for reinforcements have arrived! King still had some standing orders left over, and while I’m sure that Anastasia could probably handle this Zangoose on her own, there was no shame in accepting help from a neighbor, right? Besides; the Peck attack, while it did do some damage, was really more effective as a distraction for the Zangoose. A sharp prod with that horn caused the white furry creature to spin around (and I just realized how often I have Pokémon being attacked form behind in my refs) and begin to pursue his new foe, who had realized the sort of trouble he’d got himself into now and had already begun to run away! This extra bit of space gave Anastasia all that she needed to finish the battle up. She unleashed what energy she had stored and created a barrage of leaves that sailed around the area at insane speeds. Somehow able to control the path of each leaf she managed to draw them in to attack only the Zangoose, leaving the other Pokémon in the area unharmed, but producing a number of small cuts all over the Zangoose’s body. With a cry of pain he spun around once more (getting kinda repetitive, isn’t it?) and flew towards the Budew, but he was far too late. Anastasia had already had ample time to charge up her Energy Ball and had sent it flying through the flurry of leaves like you had suggested. The attack contacted heavily and the Zangoose was no more. Well... that’s not specifically true. He was still there, but he was out cold. You’d done it. Congrats. With a flick of your wrist you tossed a pokéball in his direction and captured him without hassle. Now all I need to ask is: was that too easy? A flash of light and the appearance of a Gardevoir on the battle field would initially suggest that it was, but you should know that this was simply one of the teleport agents for the Tournament of Aegis. I don’t know if this thought had time to cross your mind though, because in less than a second, you and all of your Pokémon (including the two recent captures, don’t worry) all vanished as well. I can imagine far more polite ways of teleporting people half-way across a continent, but apparently this Gardevoir was too busy to waste time on pleasantries, for he teleported away again immediately, leaving the two of you standing in the middle of the Joukai pass. Looking around, you couldn’t help but notice all of the commotion. There were already around 50 or 60 trainers here, most of them standing in queues at one of 4 tables that had been set up in the shadow of the Joukai Tower. The tables were all brightly colored and behind each one sat three officials who seemed to be taking registrations. Some of the lines were longer than others, but there were probably at least 7 or 8 people lined up at each one. Luckily for you guys the lines were moving pretty quickly. Well, this was it I guess. You should probably try to figure out which lines you need to be in (the signs at the tables would probably help here, but they were impossible to make out through the crowd – they need to be MUCH taller), but I’d say it’s a fair guess to assume that each table represented a level bracket. One table had a line that was roughly 30 trainers long, so I hope you don’t end up stuck in that line, because you’ll be waiting for a while. Anyway, good luck to you both, and I hope all goes well. "Great job Queen, King! You two were amazing together!" Brolis said smiling. He was quite happy with the new capture, and it was time to pick up the Pokeball. He did, and as soon as he did, a Gardevoir was there to pick up both Maji and himself for the upcoming tournament. The next thing Brolis knew, he was in Joukai Pass in the midst of a lot of trainers registering for the tournament. "Whoa...that was really weird. Hey, Maji, you know what. We make a pretty awesome team. I guess this is where we have to decide what Pokemon we're going to use, huh? Wow, that Gardevoir was really awesome back there right? Haha." Brolis stated. All these things were just amazing to him for some reason. Brolis was so happy to finally be here at Joukai Pass to join up in the tournament. That was the next task. Hopefully Maji and Brolis would be able to stay friends. He hoped that anyways. He wanted to keep this friendship alive. Brolis looked at Maji, having an idea. "Hey, Maji...after this tournament, I think I have a little proposition for you." he said, smiling. He wasn't going to suggest it unless Maji really wanted to know at that moment. So, it was up to Maji really. Brolis planned on just asking after the tournament. He stood there waiting for the answer before returning to his proper line in Tier 2. |

Well, the battle was over now and the victors had been Maji and Brolis. Well, them and their pokemon; Anastasia, Damien, King, and Queen. This was definitely a great moment in their journey together, not only had they won against incredibly strong opponents but they'd caught the Zangeese and finally he had some muscle on his team -- er.. bipedal muscle. Wait, what's that? Maji thought to himself as the air became temporarily distorted and out came a Gardevoir using teleport. He gulped, hoping that this didn't mean another battle was about to begin, but when he realized the Gardevoir was only there to teleport them to Joukai Pass, He found himself incredibly relieved. Upon reaching Joukai Pass maji found himself incredibly relieved, however, Anastasia hadn't been put into her pokeball and now she was just sitting on the ground tired. He laughed a second before praising and returning her to her pokeball, at which point Brolis started to speak and Maji's attention was turned over to his partner. "Yeah, I think I know who I'm using already. Mitchi, Anastasia, and Damien. That'll put me in Tier 3 if I'm not mistaken." He said before turning his attention to the lines, trying to find which one was his, assuming it was the one with the least people. "Found the line for Tier 3, I think. So I'm gonna go..." He was interrupted by Brolis when he said he had a proposition. "A proposition you say? What kind of proposition?" Maji questioned, intrigued by the --apparently-- sudden idea Brolis had. |

Brolis smiled. His eyes widened. "Well, my proposition is this, I've always wanted to be like my father. A breeder that is. Now, Queen and King are old enough to breed, and, well, we make an awesome team. You on the other hand, are an awesome move tutor. So, my proposition is this. When we finish this little tournament. I think, after we're teleported back to Route 1, or wherever we're going to get back too, we should start up some kind of business. I'll breed Pokemon for a living, and I'll transfer them to you, you teach them moves, and then we can sell them for profit. It'll be an easy, quick way to make some good money. I need money, of course, who doesn't, right? Well, if we do decide to bring this business up, I believe we should get some good bucks outta people. Paying high prices for Pokemon with moves, that'd be awesome, right?" he stated, all in a few moments. That was his idea, he didn't think that a move tutor was really his thing, but he was getting better at it. Soon enough, he wouldn't really need Maji's help as much, but still, it was always nice to have someone on your side when creating a business. They would need things however. Maybe a house or shack, called the "Love Shack" or something just so that Pokemon could breed in peace and harmony. That was what his father had used anyway. So, Brolis figured that was the best way to go. "Just think about it. We'll talk after this tournament is over." Brolis said, smiling, standing in line, waiting for his turn in the registration process. Edited by Brolis, Jun 1 2009, 01:51 AM.

Wow! That was quite the business endeavor that the two of you might be embarking on. It certainly sounds like it could prove to be fairly profitable, but you should also consider the fact that it will prevent you from being able to do a lot of the cool trainer/coordinator stuff. I'm sure you've thought about this though, and who am I to tell you what to do with your life? I'm just the girl who tells you what your life does with you. Maji Brolis presented you with his proposition, and then left you to mull it over, taking his place in the longest of the four lines. It looked like he was going to be standing there for hours. You were lucky that you were entering what appeared to be a less popular level bracket. You took your place in the shortest line of the lot. I hope that you're still churning that business decision over in your mind. I mean, it sounds pretty cool, but going into business is no small deal. It would be a lot of work and would probably require a fair few resources. It only took you minutes to reach the top of the line where you were greeted by a kind woman with silky black hair, probably around 22 years old. "Welcome to the Tournament of Aegis. Are you here to register for Tier 4?" Oops! Turned out you weren't in the correct line after all. Glancing around, you could now clearly see the signs at each of the other tables... Tier 3 was the next one across. Probably should have figured that... but I guess everybody makes mistakes. There weren't many people in the Tier 4 line anyway, so it only cost you about 15 minutes, and it gave me something to write about, so it's all good. With a quick apology (or whatever it is you might want to say to this girl), you made your way across to the Tier 3 line where you would wait for another half an hour or so. Finally you reached the top of this line where you were met by another girl (short blonde hair, probably around 18 or 19 years old) who greeted you in a very similar fashion to the last. She handed you over an entry form which you promptly filled out and handed back to her. The girls hands flew across the keyboard of the laptop computer in front of her as she copied your information into the system, and before long she was handing you a printout. "Alright, now all I need from you is the $100 entry fee..." You handed over the cash pleasantly. What's $100 in the big scheme of things? Besideds there's a prize of up to $2000 available, so it's a fair gamble. "Okay! You're all set. This is just a copy of your registration details, so that you can check off your Competitor ID against the draw when it's posted. Aside from that you're free to just hang around here until the tournament starts. There'll be announcements put up over the speakers when it's time. Good luck!" Well... that wasn't too hard. But what now? A quick glace over at the Tier 2 line told you that Brolis was still about halfway down the line. Poor guy... You'd got to the top of two lines in that time. Ah well... nothing you can do about that now. Anyway, you had tons of time left before the tournament actually got started. What did you have planned to do? I guess that you could have a shot at some more move tutoring if you thought you had time... there was plenty of space around and Anastasia hadn't quite mastered that Ingrain yet. Otherwise you could check out the merchandise stalls. There were some pretty interesting looking t-shirts and stuff not far away. but like any big event they'd all be overpriced. But then how many chances did you get to buy the '100th Annual Tournament of Aegis Commemorative T-Shirt'? Anyway, it's up to you. Have fun. Brolis Man - standing in line sure did suck. You'd been stuck here for nearly an hour and you were still only half way there. I don't have a whole lot of stuff that I can talk to you about, so if it's cool with you, I'm going to skip ahead a little bit. 20 minutes later and you're still standing here in this line. It wasn't even moving very quickly! What's the deal? Clearly we need to look further forward. Alright! Another 20 minutes on and you've FINALLY reached the end. Now wouldn't it be funny if I said that you'd got in the wrong line too? Don't worry... I'm not quite that nasty. This was certainly the right line. There was a big sign there that said 'Tier 2' in big red letters. You took your place across the table from the official that was sitting there. She was probably around 26 years old and had wavy red hair. She seemed like a nice enough girl, but she was clearly sick and tired of her job already. I hope that they were paying her well. "Hi. Welcome to the Tournament of Aegis. You're going to enter into Tier 2?" A quick nod (or any other response you like really) resulted in the girl handing over an entry form. It was nothing special... name, age, Pokémon and their levels, etc. You filled it out with the relevant details and handed it back to her. She wasn't quite as speedy on the keyboard as the girl that Maji had registered with (possibly contributing to the amount of time you had to spend standing in line), but it wasn't too much longer before you were coughing up the cash and being handed the page recording your registration details in exchange. That wasn't too hard. Of course, now you too had some time to kill. You looked around the area in an attempt to find Maji, but with this many trainers around he was impossible to spot. I guess you'll catch up with him at some point or another, but until then you're on your own. So what's it going to be? There might still be time enough to fit in some quick training, or you could just wander around and amuse yourself with everything that the tournament had to offer. Either way, I'm sure it will be fun! |
