IT’S TRAINING TIME!

Luckily the move you were teaching to your Zangoose was already taught to both your Teddiursa and Sentret. This makes showing the proper technique a lot easier. Zangoose were also very capable fighters on their own. Most of their known attack pool is swiping and slashing attacks so this shouldn't be too hard right?

Tempo and Canon each displayed their Fury Swipes attack to the newest member to your group. Tempo landed four swipes on the leaf target while Canon managed to pull off all five. Requiem watched the way both moved in their attacks, but being the natural born fighter that he was, Requiem didn't really make note on what they were doing. He just had to slash the leaf into ribbons.

Clavier releases a slow paced leaf for Requiem to get his practice on, and wasting no time at all, Requiems attacked the leaf in full fury. His first swipe caused the leaf to safely glide under his clawed paw. The second went over. Third and fourth attempts at the swipe also missed. Now Requiem had the basics and knew and understood the mechanics of the attack, the problem was the choice of training. Have you ever tried hitting a falling leaf from a tree? They don't say "Its like trying to catch a leaf in the wind" for nothing. Aerial objects like leaves and feathers were fickle and moved at last minute by the wind the swings created. Maybe you'd like to try this on a larger and heavier target.

After a couple more unsuccessful tries Requiem slumped down in exhaustion. He needed a break from chasing the leaves around and trying to hit them. He managed to get one swipe in on one leaf but that was all he managed to do. Your destination was a little off towards where the two boys were diving. The large rock created a deep shadow over the water and both the boys perked up at your call.

"How you? Git Outta here, this is our spot!"

"Ya Git lost Girlie the Lapras is ours! ... OW! Why'd ya hit me jerk?!"

"Shut up idiot! You wanna let everybody know that Lapras comes here?"

"Its just one girl she can't do nothin."

The two boys seemed to be arguing over your presense and the Lapras. They appeared to be friends, but both seemed like jerks.

"Oh! Hey Girlie since you got some Pokemon how about a battle? You win and you can stay here and wait for the Lapras, you lose and you leave."

The other boy smacks the one that called out the challenge. "Idiot and what will happen if we lose?"

"We ain't gunna lose to some girl stupid."

"Fine, I guess I can't argue with that. Marill come on!"

"Right lets get some fun in while we wait. Trapinch time to battle."

Well this was a fine mess. Looks like they'll only accept a battle from you for now. Choose your team wisely. This is a Double battle.

So, from the arguing kids, Aquos's suspicions were already confirmed – there was definitely a Lapras nest around here, and she was going to get to it before either brat did. And that could only mean one thing: she needed to beat them up and get ahead to the nest (wherever it was) before they could. If she had a choice she would let them fight each other in confusion, but it seemed that they were going to work together … a double battle?

Both boys released their Pokémon, forming a Marill and a Trapinch. Well, this was lovely indeed … without a doubt, her only way past them was a fight, and a double battle at that. Either way, she was determined enough to beat them.

“Requiem, Canon, head on in – Canon, use Fury Swipes; Requiem, just emulate him.”

Canon’s fur bristled at the sight of the foes. He was sort of distracted, however, by the large ferret that was his battling partner this time. He was more or less used to fighting beside Tempo and her speed-rage, but this time was different. Since Aquos had ordered him to use Fury Swipes, he might as well use it …

Snarling, the bear Pokémon raised one of his claws as he lunged at the Marill with whatever speed he had within his legs. His claws now unsheathed, he was ready to wreak some good ol’ scratch marks on the blue-colored Pokémon.

Requiem watched on with interest. Canon’s way of using the attack was sort of show-like, doing cute little movements as he made his way towards the Marill. Deciding to play back-up instead of a full assault this time, the Zangoose narrowed his eyes as he hurtled towards the Trapinch, ready to shred and tear with his claws. His yellow orbs spared a moment as he glanced towards Canon, the memory of Fury Swipes from before carefully etched into his mind.

Raising his claws to ready for an attempted Fury Swipes, Requiem was ready to kill. His claws were natural weapons; they were made for severe damage, as compared to Canon’s cute ones. He never needed to sheath his claws.

So, these two guys were pretty confident, but how long would that last. They can't even act like proper partners. Well, boys will be boys, right? Before I dig myself too deep of a grave, I'll just get on with the ref.

When they saw your battling partners, the boy with the Marill said, "Aww, that Teddiursa is so cute." His friend smacked him before saying, "Knock it off already. Really, I don't know why I bother to hang out with you." He replied, "Oh, shut up. You wouldn't know what to do without me." "You wanna bet?" They glared at each other for a moment before concentrating on you again. They said, "Marill, Tackle and then Tail Whip the bear." "Bite that Zangoose and then Bite it again, Trapinch."

Marill started these festivities off by moving in to Tackle Canon. That may have been good, but it was a suicide charge right into the furious claws of Teddiursa. Count the scratches: one, two three, four... The last one missed, but that's alright since Marill didn't get in the Tackle. The blue mouse did retreat a bit but then swung around and whacked Canon with his tail. It did minor damage, but also lowered his defense. That could be a problem.

Meanwhile, Requiem charged in with claws preped to rip Trapinch apart. The ant just stood there and slowly opened her giant mouth. Just as his first swipe was about to hit, Trapinch closed her mouth, narrowly missing his left claw. Still, the fur on his arm was caught. He saw this and started slashing furiously at Trapinch's face and head with his right claw. All in all, four attempts made contact, and the only one that missed was the first one. Fury Swipes may as well be considered complete at this point. He knows how to do it and he knows he can do it, not much more than that is needed. Although, that's fine and good, but his fur is still caught in trapinch's mouth. The ant then quickly opened, moved her mouth over and clamped down on Requiem's left arm. He screamed and tried pulling away, but Trapinch wasn't budging her jaws. What will you do now?

Despite not having fought more than three battles with Aquos, Canon knew enough about her personality to know what to do in this round – and that was anything that he wanted. She tended to let her own Pokémon dance their way through the fight, relying on their instincts only, but giving them orders and pointers when the need was there. The Teddiursa sheathed and unsheathed his claws, before darting over to the Trapinch to aid Requiem.

The bear Pokémon gave a cry before readying his arm to strike. However, before that, he tried to give a fierce stare at the ant Pokémon to lower her defenses. Whenever he was in doubt, he always used a stat-reducing attack or mimicked his companion’s movements. This time, there was no Tempo to emulate; hence, he was completely on his own when he decided to use Leer. He had no idea if this last-minute plan of his would even work – he only knew that he needed to use Fury Cutter right after this. Just once, would suffice … hopefully Requiem would follow, as his claws would desirably be forceful enough to leave more than a mark on the Trapinch.

Requiem growled, his eyes narrowing as pain jolted up his hand. This was really awkward; he usually heard from his previous Trainer about fishing rods – so, was this what a fishing rod felt like? With his left arm trapped, the Zangoose had only his right arm free, which was better than nothing. Grounding his feet in the ground, the white-furred Pokémon stared at his other ally as he came over to help, or rather, gang up upon the Trapinch.

What was Canon thinking, trying to help him like that! He was not unable to handle himself. Requiem’s eyes narrowed even more, but seeing no other way to release himself other than attacking, he raised his free arm to attempt a strike down upon the ant’s head. He had only mastered Fury Swipes not too long ago. Seeing as his other arm wasn’t free to follow up with another swipe, the cat ferret had no choice but to lash out, twice at the Trapinch.

Ideally, his hand would smash against the large head of his adversary, his second blow stronger than his first. It was essential to making sure that the target would feel the pain, no matter how hard it skull was – he needed to make sure the Trapinch feel it somehow. Little did he know, but he was subconsciously trying to deal his blow after Canon did his, since the Teddiursa was definitely smaller and speedier than his huge claws were.

Both of your Pokemon seemed to be holding their own without your influence which started to startle the boys. They started to whisper amongst themselves coming up with all kind of weird reasons as to how you were controlling your Pokemon without verbal instructions.

Both stopped their mid battle gossip as both your Pokemon went onto the offensive again. "Trapinch don't let go! Hold onto the Zangoose and wait out its attack! An odd choice of strategy, but that’s what Trapinch did. Tightening her grip on the Zangoose's arm, Requiem actually flinched a bit causing his first attack attempt to fail. Canon on the other hand came in close and glared an eerie glare into the Trapinch's face. Trapinch broke into a cold sweat as Canon then started to swipe at the Trapinch.

Canon caught two swipes into the Trapinch causing it to loosen her grip on Zangoose. Once the Trapinch loosened her grip Zangoose brought his attack down causing the Trapinch to release him completely. Zangoose and Tediursa backed away as soon as the Trapinch fell off of Zangoose's arm and took defensive stances.

"Trapinch use Sand attack from there." "Marill follow through with Aqua Jet on the Zangoose."

Trapinch flipped over and started to kick the sand from the beach. The distance between her and your Pokemon wasn't great and soon both Canon and Requiem were getting showered with sand. Following through, the Marill surrounded his body in water and used the water to propel himself at Zangoose. Along the way he picked up traces of sand turning his clear water based attack into a make-shift muddy bullet. OMG Combo attack from two kids! Who would have thought it?

Marill rammed his attack into Zangoose and when released all the wet sand blasted into Zangoose covering his eyes and clumping up in his fur, causing him to scratch at the sand uncontrollably. Seems wet sand and fur do not mix.

First things first – the girl had a trade to settle. With her Pokétech beeping like there was no tomorrow, Aquos felt that she just couldn’t concentrate properly enough for her to focus on the battle. Frowning and thinking that it was probably some kind of lottery thing, she opened the message and was nicely surprised: someone was offering her a female Shinx. Once again, under the guise of Leanne (poor other girl, she never did know her Pokétech was found and used … or maybe Leanne was already dead or something), she accepted the trade and sent her Murkrow in return. Even though it was sort of lopsided – a Rare for a Common – since it was a Pokémon Aquos really, really liked, it didn’t matter at all for the girl.

Besides, that bird was damn annoying no matter what the weather was. Given a chance he might actually be good enough – but eh, Aquos wasn’t one to regret her decisions, no matter how things turned out. She just … steeled herself and pushed through valiantly, with her Pokémon by her side … ah, this was starting to sound like a fantasy story. Pressing a few buttons, the girl completed the trade and grinned. Soon, her new Pokémon arrived (boy, that was fast); holding the Pokéball in her hand, she released the creature from it and saw … a female Shinx.

She smiled down at the little canine-like Pokémon, contemplating whether to send her out for battle or not … before deciding against it. Fat lot of good an electric-typed Pokémon would do against water Pokémon with nary a hint of electricity within its attacks. “Sonata,” she said softly, managing to catch the Shinx’s attention at the cry, “stick close, okay?” The Shinx nodded, standing near her Trainer – poor furry Pokémon never did know that her original Trainer wasn’t her, as in the case of Clavier … speaking of that Turtwig, it might be time to send him out.

“Okay, Canon – use Fury Swipes on the Marill. Requiem, team up with Canon with Fury Swipes,” ordered Aquos. Requiem continued to scratch at the sand, but his eyes were filled with irritation and fury. If anything, to the ferret, it was extremely annoying how his adversaries managed to get away with annoying him. Deciding to show them what combat at a close range really was, the white-furred Pokémon leapt into action (and scratched himself lightly a fair few times). Canon was already heading towards the water mouse; his fur was significantly shorter than Requiem’s, so he wouldn’t be affected by the sand too much.

Sonata gave a little shiver, moving closer to her Trainer. It was pretty scary, watching a double battle escalate with rage emanating from Requiem and Canon with his fluid movements. Coupled with the other side’s sudden cooperation, the Shinx was a tad terrified. Clavier smiled at his new ally; boy, he certainly was getting a lot of them … quietly, he noted how Sonata wasn’t raring to jump into a fight.

One partner for one new friend sounds almost fair enough. As long as you are happy, there isn't any reason to complain. So then, the boys managed to pull out a combo. It was rather unexpected since they didn't seem the type to cooperate. Could it have been a front, or did they just get lucky? Anything is possible at this point.

The two boys were high-fiving and feeling proud of their accomplishment. Meanwhile, you were plotting their demise, or at least figuring how to take them down as much as possible. Your words brought them back to the battle rather suddenly and didn't give them much time to figure what to do. The two battlers on your side were closing in on Marill, so they went on the defensive. "Marill, quickly, use Defense Curl." "Trapinch, help him out with Rock Smash." With attack orders given, it's time to get to the nitty and gritty part of the ref.

Marill saw the oncomming fury and quickly ducked into a ball, protecting himself as best as he could. Moments later, Canon and Requiem were on him like flies on crap. They brought their claws down on the Marill repeatedly. Once, twice, thrice... At this point, Trapinch brought her giant head down on Canon for a Rock Smash. It didn't too much damage, but it did lower his defense. Once he was hit, Canon focused the rest of the attack on Trapinch. In the end, Requiem landed three blows on Marill, Canon landed two on Marill, and two more on Trapinch. It could have been better, but it could have ended badly too. What now?

“Canon, Leer and Covet on Marill; Requiem, follow up with Fury Swipes.”

The order was quietly issued and both Pokémon started to work with what information was available to them. Granted, they were sort of at a disadvantage seeing as neither of them had ranged attacks, while on the other side was the big ball of blue with water-based strikes. Despite being in the lead in terms of health, but perhaps not in energy – seeing as energy was harder to gauge, Aquos's assumptions might be entirely off the mark … or not. She glanced at her Pokétech, which was keeping her fed on the battle.

On a completely unfamiliar terrain, Canon found it hard to fight and move properly. On the other side, Requiem was moving rather fluidly, probably due to the fact that he had spent some time with his previous Trainer by the sea. His claws were aimed at the Marill, threatening to strike at him when the time came. Still, there was the sudden itchiness within his body that kept nagging at him to just … scratch. Damn, that definitely was annoying. The Zangoose shook his head, trying to focus on the fight.

“And pull out Night Slash.”

As the sun shone high in the sky, so did the eyes of your Pokemon, fighting valiantly in the sand. Canon was a tad uncomfortable with the terrain, but he was pushing through, and I don't think he's ever fought harder. He danced across the beach, occasionally loosing his momentum in the sand, but he kept his chin up. Your opponents underestimated the little bear's speed and power. This was a great advantage you held. He was starting to get the hang of fighting in the sand, timing his steps so he would push just hard enough in the sand to dodge an incoming blow. He still had a bit to learn, but his adaptability was remarkable.

Requiem was having a far easier time moving around on the sand due to his experience with water and the beach, but the sand in his fur was getting on his nerves. He was aware of his anger though, and he used it to fuel his strength and only released it enough to make sure it didn't blind him. His style was far different from Canon's. It was much more raw, dealing damage then retreating before any could be dealt to him. He was a true warrior, one who mustn't be underestimated. His movements were a bit more sluggish than normal, if only slightly. His wet matted fur was beginning to take its tole on the Zangoose's energy. He fought through it, but he was using a bit more energy to move than desirable.

When Requiem heard you say the words Night Slash, he suddenly became something...else. It was as if he was possessed by something. He completely ignored the sand and water in his fur and began moving as gracefully as a dancer. He moved his way through the sand, swiftly making his way to his target. The boys saw this and quickly yelled out orders. "Trapinch, use another Sand Attack, try to blind that Zangoose! If that doesn't work Bite on his leg!" "Marill, use Aqua Jet at the Zangoose, then Water Gun at the Teddiursa!" Trapinch smacked at the ground and flung up a screen of sand at Requiem. However, his focus was so great that he ran right through it, waving it away from his face with his claws. She was too slow to Bite onto his leg, and was surprised by Canon who jumped onto her head and used the momentum to leap off, over Zangoose's head and right into the view of Marill.

The little blue mouse was about to launch his Aqua Jet, but as he looked at Zangoose he saw Canon fly across the skyline and completely froze. The Leer Canon gave him was devastating, and he tripped, leaving himself wide open for attack! He looked up to see a pitch black claw. Requiem's focus and anger caused the attack to rip right through Marill's defenses. The mouse was hurting badly, and the pain just kept on coming. One...two...three swipes from Requiem's Fury Swipes hit, the other two just barely missing. The Zangoose was panting, having expended so much energy on those few attacks. He jumped when Trapinch chomped down on his leg. Yes, the ant finally caught up to him and bit down hard onto him. Again he was trapped by the annoying little thing. He tried swinging her off, but to no avail. He would not let Canon help him this time! But he needed time to think of a plan.

While Requiem worked on his escape plan, Canon had landed a little ways off from the battle. He ran back, and suddenly got a sweet caring look on his face. He slowly approached the traumatized Marill. When he got close enough he would strike, attempting to steal anything his opponent held. When Marill saw this, he didn't even let Canon get close. He was so frightened by Requiem's relentless strikes that he probably would've attacked anything that got in his personal space. He quickly shot a Water Gun at the surprised Teddiursa. Canon was knocked down by the attack but quickly got back up. He looked at the frightened little mouse and almost felt sorry for him. But then he remembered the pain he had caused him and his new friend, and the feeling vanished.

So this round went pretty evenly I'd say. You dealt quite some damage, but Requiem took a big chunk of energy to do it. Canon was hurt a bit, but not too badly, and Marill was on his last legs. Trapinch was firmly locked onto Requiem's leg, not wanting to let go any time soon. The Zangoose's pride was too strong for him to be saved by Canon again. He was working on a plan to get this thing off of him, and dammit he would do it all on his own this time. Well, whether he does or not isn't for me to decide...unless you request me again. But if that doesn't happen, then it's for whoever takes hold of this journey to decide.

Requiem and Canon were dancing around the field in their own respective styles, dashing and slicing together – well, except for Canon: the little bear was using all that he could to charm and well, intimidate the water mouse. But that … didn’t go to well, so to speak. A quick scan over her Pokétech’s screen revealed that the Marill was nearing the danger zone of his health, which bode something good for her side. Nodding to her partners while her eyes fell on the blue-colored Pokémon, Aquos scanned through her Pokétech while figuring out the next round of this battle. She felt that there was no point in thinking about what strategies the boy-team would put out; brute force might just be able to overcome strategic thinking, after all. She rarely liked uncalculated violence, but ever since she’d stepped into Alternia … that was how she took battles. Oh well … things change.

“Requiem, Quick Attack and Fury Swipes!”

She felt no need to tell which Pokémon the Zangoose should be aiming for this time – it was pretty clear that the Trapinch would be the target; oh, and Requiem would probably be too pissed to go after the Marill, anyway. His feral instincts were untamed; still … once he was irked, he was practically unstoppable when he started fighting. Not to say that he was invincible – he just kept pushing on and on.

“Canon, Leer and Scratch on Marill!”

Aquos wanted to get her Zangoose out of that pinch he was in rather badly, but Requiem probably had too much pride within him to allow him to be helped. All that she could have the Teddiursa do now would be to take down the Marill, let the realization that there was no other Pokémon to target sink into the cat ferret, then let Canon charge in and fight … if there was still fight within the Trapinch. With the jaws of the overgrown ant clamped safely on Requiem’s leg, she probably didn’t need to worry about Rock Smash … probably. Didn’t it use that skill with its head?

Orders now issued, she turned back to her Pokétech and its medley of applications. The ever-familiar lottery message lit up, prompting her to buy, buy, buy – it always did, anyway. With the mysterious addition of some money into her current account, she decided to indulge this once and buy two tickets. Besides … it wasn’t everyday that she struck gold – just this once might work … but the fact that she had insanely horrible luck at luck-based games nagged at her.

“I don’t care!” she grunted, entering her choice of numbers and hitting the button, thus securing her taking part in this week’s lottery draw.

Well, it looks like the Marill is on his last legs, and his trainer is realizing this too. He said, "Come on, Marill. Don't give up now. Keep them away with two Water Guns." Meanwhile, the other boy was in a slightly better position. Some may consider his current tactic suicide against such a physical fighter like Zangoose. He smriked and said, "Alright, Trapinch, hold on tight and use Rock Smash in the special way I taught you. If it doesn't work, do it again." Marill's trainer looked over to him and said, "Dude, do you want to win that badly?" He nodded and said, "Yes, I do." Something's up with that, but its for later. Right now, to the battle.

It appears as though this round will be split into two one-on-ones. So, first will be Canon and Marill. Marill is on the defensive which will leave your Teddiursa to decide the pace. Heeding your advice, he used Leer, lowering Marill's defensive capabilities again. All the while he was creeping closer. At that point, Marill feared the oncoming attack and fired off a Water Gun. It pushed Canon back a bit, but he held his ground. Turning up the speed, he ran in with claws out, ready to end it. Marill launched the second Water Gun, but it was a bit early. Canon narrowly avoided it and got up close and personal before raking his claws across the water mouse's face. Marill backed away slowly and looked to be still able to go on. Then, he just collapsed in a heap on the sand. Marill was knocked out, but only just.

Meanwhile, Requiem had a paracitic Trapinch to deal with. Now, he reddily used Quick Attack, taking a pot shot at the Trapinch on his leg. Also, since the ground type was so slow, he used Fury Swipes right afterward. All five of the swipes connected and yet Trapinch still managed to keep her hold. Now, would it be too far-fetched to reason that being a ground type, Trapinch are used to building tunnels by eating away at the rock? If so, it could be concluded that the bite pressure the pit ant Pokemon posesses is enough to do considerable damage. That said, Trapinch opened her mouth slightly, relieving the pressure for a moment before slamming her jaw shut once again. Requiem screamed out in pain but could do nothing about it. Then, she did it a second time. However, this one was accompanied by a sickening crunch. Requiem yelled even louder and started flailing on the sand. You quickly realized what happened: his leg was broken by Trapinch's incredible jaw strength.

You are now faced with a decision. Will you remove Requiem from the battle or fight on for revenge. It's quite obvious that the boy did it on purpose. So, what will you do now?

Aquos growled, nearly cursing under her breath. However, she didn’t let the fact faze her too much – instead, she focused on the fight at hand. With Arena Trap in action, she couldn’t remove Requiem from the fight or even Canon for that matter. However, as long as Trapinch was intent on holding unto the Zangoose’s leg, she had ample time to execute what she wanted to do. Sonata huddled closer to her, her tails whipping around in the air cutely.

“Canon, hack at the Trapinch with Fury Swipes, and do whatever it takes to bring it down!” yelled the girl, nodding at the bear Pokémon. She realized that Requiem was probably in pain, but his pride … his pride was going to bring him down. She wasn’t going to be using him in a battle until she got to a Pokémon Center, either … what a situation to be in, right? Chewing on her lower lip, she could only watch as Canon sprung into action. The Pokétech on her watch signaled to her, indicating that the ant Pokémon’s health was in the low regions.

Steeling herself, Aquos brought herself to look at Requiem. “Deal back twice the amount of pain to the Trapinch, Requiem – you want to take it down before Canon can get to it, don’t you?” she asked the Zangoose, “Use Night Slash and Scratch on it!” Hopefully, Requiem’s pain would drive him to overcome his itchiness and, well, overkill on the Trapinch. She glanced up at the two boys, a smile etching itself on her face.

Now, what’s this? A trade offer had come in for Forte, her Magikarp. It was a pretty strong fish, though not quite suited for her tastes. She accepted the offer, sending the fish Pokémon to its new owner. At least she wasn’t going to feel too bad about it, seeing as she didn’t really get a chance to see what he was like …

I think it's fair to say that this match is just about over. Marill has been knocked out with only the slow Trapinch remaining. The boy that remained in this battle gave his commands, "Trapinch, use Sand-Attack to keep them at bay and then Bite Zangoose." Moments later, Canon was running in with claws outstretched while Requiem glared daggers and drove a blackened claw toward his target. It appeared as though the two were going to hit Trapinch at the same time; and they did. One swipe by Canon and the full brunt of the Night Slash sent Trapinch reeling. The pit ant Pokemon landed passed out on the sand. The boys were mildly horrified by the furious ending your two Pokemon showed. They quickly withdrew their Pokemon and ran for it. One of then shouted back to you, "You can have the stupid spot, just leave us alone!" Strange...

At any rate, the boys left you in peace to explore the rock as you pleased. Heading up the gentle slope, you reached the top to find a top notch panoramic view of the beachfront. Surely from here, you would be able to see a Lapras approaching. The sun was still decently high so you sat down to wait.

A bit later, you noticed a few Wingull getting low to the front of the rock. There were maybe two or three of them just drifting on the light wind. But then, you saw them disappear below. Moments later, a jet of water propelled the three birds into the sky. Now, this definitely caught your attention. Curiosity getting the best of you, you walked to the edge and looked down. It wasn't a breaking wave that did that. No, below you, clinging to the rock face was a purple starfish with a red gem at the center. Before you could do anything else, a jet of water shot right at your face. Stepping back just in time, you avoided getting soaked. However, the Starmie climbed up after you and was looking a bit perturbed. I doubt you will be able to get out of this battle. Game on!

She can have the stupid spot? No, no, it wasn’t a stupid spot … Aquos didn’t think it was, at any rate. As long as it really netted her a Lapras like it was supposed to, she wasn’t going to go around branding it stupid. They were just sore after losing, and that was that – the girl told herself, nodding as she recalled Requiem. With a broken leg, the Zangoose wasn’t going to get too far if this adventure was going to drag on. Aquos could see the hurt pride in his eyes as she slowly vanished into the Pokéball in a beam of light. He tried his best, and that was good enough for the teenager.

The blue-haired girl stared over the sea from her vantage point, and decided to sit down. She had no incoherent idea when or where the elusive sea Pokémon would emerge, so she had better conserve her energy … until a Starmie emerged. How annoying, she thought. And besides, where did a Staryu obtain a rare Water Stone to evolve with? Standing up almost instantly, Aquos hastily glanced around herself to see if there were any people lurking around, but finding none at the moment. If it was a sneak attack, well, that was pretty damn underhanded by her standards.

Dodging the jet of water hurtling her way, but only just barely, the girl growled and glared down at the starfish Pokémon. If it wanted a fight, she would gladly play along; even if it was the last thing she was going to do … not. There was something more important. Sonata sat down by her side, looking on as she glanced quietly at Clavier. Knowing that it was (finally) his turn, the turtle Pokémon stepped forth, firing leaves from his head to the Starmie before him.

Now, there was nothing to do at the moment beyond waiting for the battle to run its course, and so, the girl turned to the little Shinx. “Sonata, do you know what electrical energy is?” she asked quietly, running her hand along the body of the Pokémon. If anything, she wanted to gain an upper hand over what sea Pokémon was going to jump her next. This whole thing wasn’t going to be too easy, if the boys and the Starmie was any indication.

The battle is on, but first, a quick word from our sponsors. In case it wasn't clear, said "spot" is a long outcropping of rocks that point into the ocean a few hundred feet. Kind of like a hand-made pier, if you catch my drift, and you are currently battling near the end of it. I'm sorry if I was vague, it wasn't intentional. At least I have my bearings in order now. So then, with that commercial break over, the games can begin!

As you were wondering where this Starmie came from, a few ideas popped into your head. Firstly, it was a sneak attack, but why would someone do such a thing to a girl that was merely sitting, staring at the ocean? From such a distance no less? No, surely not. Another possibility is that the starfish was released by it's trainer and may still hold a grudge for being thrown away like yesterday's trash. This one might hold some merit if it's previous owner was rich enough to afford a water stone. Regardless, it is here now, and you have to deal with it. Besides that, Sonata gladly accepted the petting before looking curiously up to you. You could feel a small static charge build as you petted, so maybe she does? It might be easier once she has Charge, which she learns naturally at level 9. Is there a possible move tutor in the works? If there is, we'll deal with it as it comes.

Clavier prodded out before you to face the sea star menace. Is slow and steady going to be able to last? Well, Starmie started out by going rigid, gleaming in the light of the afternoon sun. A simple Harden attack that might prove to be annoying to say the least. At this point, Clavier released several leaves toward the water type. Thanks to it being solid, nearly all of the leaves hit home, causing a great deal of damage. Battered and bruised, Starmie jumped up and started spinning at high speeds before flying at your Turtwig. The Rapid Spin attack hit, doing a marginal amount of damage, but even a little bit can come back to bite you in the butt later. The starfish flew back to it's side of the field and started hopping around a bit. Be careful here, this one seems agitated. So, what now?
