Sonata listened to you and began to move dark energy into her paw. It didn't take that much to be able to hold the energy and she began to move around with the energy still in tact. She then began to run around and the energy was still in tact. She was really getting this energy control thing down! She then ran towards the tree and pounced at it. She slashed at the tree and it completely fell into pieces. Well, that can only mean one thing... Sonata was almost done with the move and all she really needed to do was practice the move one more time to make sure it was down.

Ryuuza didn't have that much to left to do with Ember. He just needed to make sure that he didn't choke on the energy as he was bringing it up and out of his body. Well, that shouldn't really be that hard. He went for a go at it and still a little bit got caught in his throat. The rest of the flaaming was still sent out though and it actually looked like a good Ember attack. He tried it again and was able to get the energy to not make him gag and was able to make the Ember attack come out amazingly! That means that Ryuuza was done with Ember and only 3 more tutors to go!

Accelerando was up next and that is personally my favorite part of the music. Uplifting and fast just makes you want to go and get stuff done. It began by trying to summon the water energy from Hidden Power directly from its tail. This took a little bit of effort but it still ended with the same results. Little spheres of water was surrounding its tail and that just made the move that much closer to completion. With a water-soaked tail, he hovered over to the tree again, accidently loosing some water along the way and swung at it again. The tree cracked even more and it was enough to make it fall over. All he needed to work on was getting the energy to come up faster and then making sure it stayed there.

Lastly, it was Elegy's turn. Ice Shard was a somewhat harder move but that doesn't really mean anything. Maybe if she was a little bit higher in levels, she'd be able to get it down in no time but that doesn't really mean anything. She gather the water energy nessecary for Water Gun and tried to make it colder. It was able to cool a little bit and you could tell that there was small bits of ice in it. She went deeper inside herself to try and find more energy, which wasn't that hard considering her typing. The small amount of energy began to freeze completely and that just left one part left, make it into an Ice Shard. Good luck with that part.

:charmander VS :rhyhorn

Finally. A somewhat easy battle that really shouldn't take long. It'd probably be worse if the Rhyhorn actually knew any moves that could really damage you. Of course, you had Cadence's grass type Hidden Power to help you out and I'm sure that's really going to screw the Rhyhorn over. Well, Cadence was much faster than the thing made of rocks and started the round off with a Smokescreen, making the Rhyhorn become covered in smoke. Somehow, the Rhyhorn was able to make a move that hit, Tail Whip. Thankfully, all it did was lower your defense and it allowed Cadence to launch of the orbical attack known as Hidden Power. Due to the typing, and Rhyhorns sucky defense against grass moves, the Rhyhorn was almost knocked out. Sadly, it was still breathing. With the slight shock of it still breathing, the Rhyhorn charged at Cadence, leaving the smoke behind except for the small amount that still surrounded its eyes. He slightly towered over Cadence and stomped down on him and left quite a mark. It was able to Critically Hit and actually left a mark. Cadence winced in pain but was still standing. That Stomp made it a little more even but things were still in Cadence's favor. Good luck next round with all your tutors and the battle!

The battle between the Charmander and Rhyhorn was already over. Even though it technically wasn't, the way Cadence took the field by sweeping through with his grass-typed Hidden Power was pretty cool. Aquos watched on calmly; the fight was rather easy so far, and even though the experience wasn't great, it was still something good. "Okay, Cadence! Hidden Power twice, and we're good to go towards our next destination!" the teenager told the Charmander. Cadence smiled back despite his serious exterior; as a warrior-of-sorts, he was bound to do some battling and the like. That and protect Sonata. The Shinx - no, Luxio, wasn't someone who liked to fight. And he knew that.

:luxio
Night Slash

Well, this was certainly coming along just fine. Sonata was practicing her technique just fine, and Aquos figured she could tell her to practice it a few more times, and she'd have a new move, really.

"Alright, Sonata. Awesome job, love your movement~ you'll have to practice a few more times to get it down, I'm afraid. Spring back to where I am, start gathering dark energy, break into a run, pounce and slash at the tree before making a perfect landing!"

:bagon
Fire Fang

"Great going, Ryuuza. You're definitely a different sort of Bagon - not obsessed with power, or cocky because of having the dragon type. That's a really, really good thing. Now we're going to go one step further for Fire Fang. Now that you know how to generate fire, I want you to gather flames within yourself and let it well up right in the abdomen." She pointed to his torso, then drawing a line up to his throat where she stopped again. "Let the flames within you grow more and more until it reaches this point. Don't let it continue moving into your mouth, but continue letting its heat seep into your mouth, coating it." The finger moved from his throat to his mouth. "Then let the flames burst into your mouth and stop here. The flames should coat your fangs and mouth completely so it's like ... very, very hot in there. The heat is supposed to make your foe flinch and burn, so it should be as hot as it can possibly be."

"You already know Bite, so the physical aspect of launching the attack shouldn't be a problem for you. Using the same intensity as Bite, together with the flames from Ember should put you on the right track to Fire Fang. However, you might be lacking a little in firepower. As long as you keep generating the flames and making sure fire is always present during this attack, you should be fine, Ryuuza."

:cestar
Aqua Tail

"We need to speed up the charging time for Aqua Tail. At the moment it's too slow - you won't be able to demolish big cities this way! Let's work on it, Accel~ Gather as much water in your tail as you can as I count to five, okay?" And so she counted while keeping an eye on him. As soon as he managed to gather sufficient water around his tail upon the count of five, Aquos proceeded to the next step. "Now, use that and strike another tree. If it doesn't fall right away, it means you don't have enough water. Start gathering more water within five ticks, then strike the tree again. If it falls right away but doesn't have a deep crack in it, you need to work on your strength. Spin a little more before your attack and you're good to go."

:lapras
Ice Shard

Progress was slow, but getting there.

"Gather more ice-typed energy, Elegy. As the energy comes, inject it into your body and water. Instead of firing it, I want you to focus on pumping the icy energy into your body. The colder it is, the better. You'll know if it's cold enough when you see a light mist form around you when you exhale, or when I exhale. That's when it's cold enough for your water to turn into ice, as long as you continue forcing, squeezing the ice energy into your Water Gun. Don't go ahead and fire the water; all I want you to do now is focus and injecting your ice energy."

Well, let's start this off with the easiest thing, and that would be the battle. The Rhyhorn was almost down for the count and one attack should finish the job. And, with the comands of using two Hidden Powers, there was no way it was living through this round, even if the first one missed. But we should stop talking about what could happen, and just get on with what will happen.

Cadence charged up another grass typed Hidden Power, ready to take Rhyhorn down. But, Rhyhorn wasn't giving up. He charged at Cadence and was able to reach him before the Hidden Power was lauched. He went to use Horn Attack, but due to the decreased accuracy, he sadly missed. It was his only chance of getting back into this battle and because he was so close now, Cadence fired the orbs charged with grass energy and hit the Rhyhorn at point black. He was knocked out and that means the battle is over. Congrats!

Cadence gained 12 :exp !
Cadence gained a level!
Cadence has 11.5 :exp left over!
Cadence learned nothing!
Cadence is now tired of being talked about!

:luxio

There really wasn't much to say with this tutor. Sonata channelled the dark energy into her paw again and ran at the tree again. This time, the energy stayed into a sure form, no energy was being lost. Sonata leaped at the tree and made a slashing motion, completely shattering the tree into a million trees. Yey for killing trees! This can only mean one thing... Sonata learned Night Slash!

Night Slash Learning Curve: Mastered!
:bagon

Ah... Ryuuza's second fire type tutor. Fire Fang shouldn't really be that hard since he just learned Ember and he had Bite down as well. Ryuuza gathered up fire energy again, just like he did with Ember, only he stopped once it got to his throat. He tried to coat his mouth with the fire but it didn't go so well. He was burning his mouth and the only reason that didn't with Ember was because the energy didn't stay in his mouth for long. Maybe you should try to teach him how to not burn the inside of his mouth when he uses the move before getting to the move combination part.

Fire Fang Learning Curve: 32%
:cestar

Up next, Accel. Aqua Tail didn't need that much more until it would be done. You began to count to 5 and as you did so, Accel gathered water energy with his tail. Once the counting was done, he floated towards the tree and swung. He must have had the right amount of water now because not only did the tree have a crack in it, it completely fell over. Yey for more nature killing! And this means that Aqua Tail was done. Way to go!

Aqua Tail Learning Curve: Mastered!
:lapras

All you wanted Elegy to do this round was freeze water. She began to concentrate of the ice energy inside of her, making sure to drop the temperature around her as well. Once she thought it was cold enough, she breathed out and could faintly see her breath. It wasn't quiet cold enough yet so she focused more on the ice inside of her. Once it was even colder out, she breathed again and could see her breath with ease. She began to bring a Water Gun out but could tell that it wasn't water. It was ice. She held it back and waited for the next step. Congrats, just a little more and it'll be done.

Ice Shard Learning Curve: 78%

Counter

After the fight, Cadence was rather pumped. Given the situation, Aquos thought that his actions were justified, and decided to tutor him a new move. The fight had made the Trainer realize how dangerous some Pokemon could be - especially Pokemon that were larger and greater in size than her reptile. After all, the Rhyhorn had charged at the Charmander, horn lowered in an attempt to use Horn Attack - what better than a move to counter these kinds of dangerous maneuvers?

"Alright, Cadence! We're going to work on a new move, and that move is called Counter. It's a fighting-typed move, a retaliation move that counters any physical attack, inflicting double the damage taken." This was a tricky move. After all, it was a move that countered a move, and there really wasn't any other way to teach him other than having him focus on the theoretical part of it first. "According to my Poketech, the move has you glowing red while allowing the attack to hit you before you hit back at twice the power." She glanced at Cadence and knelt down to his level. "Okay, you'll have to pull off the same focus as you did with Hidden Power."

"Close your eyes and focus on your inner self, the warrior. Think about how a warrior reacts to being attacked; first, they take the hit and then find their opponent's weak point, before striking back for huge damage. Now, this is a physical move, so while you're focusing, I want you to think about the way you're going to counter the attacks coming your way. Would it be a slashing or biting move? How would you execute it? You need to think about the situations that may happen, before imagining out the scenes in your mind. Once you've done that, search for another wild Pokemon - preferably something weaker than you are."

:lapras
Ice Shard

Elegy did it! She had managed to form ice from water! Aquos smiled at the newborn, hugging her around the neck lightly and giving her a small squeeze. She had been rather amazing to come this far, the girl thought as she looked at Elegy. Serene and calm as always, the Lapras awaited the next move to Ice Shard ... ice felt strange in her mouth, so to speak.

"So you've got the ice formed and created, and that's a good thing. Now, instead of exhaling the cold air and condensing the water around you into mist, I want you to just keep forcing down the ice energy into your Water Gun. Summon small parts of water instead of a jet like you would, and keep freezing those individual parts one by one. Keep working on that, and you'll have formed small pieces of ice. Slowly increase the size of the shards that you're forming and decrease the number of ice you're making, until you have only one large bit of ice. Ideally, the ice should be slim and streamlined so it can move fast in air, yet have sharp and jagged edges to deal good damage.

"Next, you'll be firing the shard of ice like Water Gun. Throw it as hard, quickly, and fast as you can, and get good distance on it as well. This is a move that strikes first, so you'll have to try it a few times to get in the speed and precision."

:bagon
Fire Fang

This was a little tricky. How to make fires that don't burn the summoner but burns everything else? It was like teaching a Bidoof to ... sing. The problem had Aquos puzzled for quite some time, but she thought that perhaps she could tackle this problem in a different way.

"Ryuuza, I want you to raise the temperature of your body several times more than it is right now. Use the sun to help you if you have to, since you're a reptile and absorbing your surrounding heat will raise your body temperature. See, the logic is that if your body is hot enough, you won't feel the flames burning the inside of your mouth ... I think that can work, and you should give it a shot. Don't pump any flames into your mouth yet; I want you to get used to a body temperature that's hotter than usual."

Charmander took in all that you said, and it was a very good start. He figured that you had a point, and he soon began to focus; without a target, his actual attack would be nothing. But he started to focus, and came up with a way, that he even demonstrated for you. After being hit, he'd either swing and swat at the foe with his tail, or bite on them. But when it came to searching, he found a Rattata nibbling a berry near by. Getting close, it lashed out. Perfect. But Charmander didn't have the time to exactly focus so perfectly, and there was no glow. When it tackled Charmander, he just hit it with his tail. Nothing amazing, but a start!

This would be a simply round of tutoring for Lapras. It did all that it could; it had made the Ice Shards, and it knew how to fire it off. When it went to do so, it had a fortunate turn of events, and had done a very good thing: made it much farther then I would have guessed. It's natural power of Ice and using Water Gun availed! Lapras was done tutoring.

The dragon nodded, and stood out in the sun. Closing it's eyes, it focused on the warm sensation of the Sun. It had taken Bagon several minutes before opening his eyes, which when he did was a gentle movement. This was one of the first times I've seen him so calm, and maybe a first for you too. After what seemed like a solid ten minutes, heat waves started to rise off of Bagon, and his body was slowly cooking in the sunlight. In a little while, we'd have fried dragon success at Fire Fang, as the temperature was surely 'cooking' now.

Yet again, tutoring while in a battle. While not something of a wise choice, it was something Aquos felt that she had to do in order to ... um, achieve what she wanted. That and have stronger Pokemon - with a mental shake of her head, she realized that she needed something else in life other than getting stronger Pokemon. Perhaps bonding some more with her Pokemon partners, or ... well, actually finding some other humans to talk and interact with. Or a day out at the beach, but the last time she was there, Requiem got a broken leg and she found herself going on a crazy trip down into the ocean and battling against the rising tide for ... Elegy's egg. Her eyes fell on a Lapras. All that for a Lapras egg ... acceptable enough, honestly.

But back to the battle.

"Alright, Cadence. I want you to use Growl on the Rattata, and then wait for it to come at you. Either that, or it'll come at you with a Quick Attack. Regardless, if you see it coming, close your eyes in deep focus and pump energy into your claw. When the attack is over, open your eyes and unleash your focus like Hidden Power, and strike with a Scratch attack!"

:bagon
Fire Fang

Ryuuza seemed surprisingly calm without Accel by his side to distract him. The dragon certainly was a different character, unique in his own way, yet never letting his friends' expectations down. Keeping his newfound calmness in mind, the girl watched on as he walked around a little bit as he awaited further instructions for Fire Fang. He was certainly feeling the heat; surely attempting to coat his mouth with fire now would give both of them some, if not a little bit of, success?

"Alright, Ryuuza. Try soaking up a little more sun while charging up your Ember attack and holding it in your mouth. Allow the flames to coat your mouth, and if it still stings, you can stop what you're doing and heat your body up a little bit more before trying again. Getting your mouth to be at the correct temperature to weather the fire's heat seems to be the way to go. When you've started to generate your Ember, give me a nod and I'll start counting to five. When I count three, open your mouth and bite down on the tree and apply more pressure until I count to five. That is when you let go of the tree."

She turned to her Poketech and purchased several lottery tickets. Feeding addictions, living life. Yeahhhh.

Charmander was going to have a little bit of a rough time grasping the full effect of Counter while dealing with this battle. Trying to push him along, the words that you spoke made sense. Rattata, as you said, rushed inward to the lizard with Quick Attack. The physical attack would do nicely with Counter. Charmander found the mouse coming in fast, so he tried to focus as quick as possible. A reddish-brown glow faintly appeared over his body, and built up only another little inches. Cadence found himself being hit in the next second; but he wasn't exactly ready, thus making his hit miss. But the mouse wasn't done, and came back. Cadence was hit, but found himself even more focused. The swing got his tail smacking the Rattata's face. But Cadence appeared to take some damage, as well. He'd need to try not to take so much, and to hit back even harder.

Ryuuza was getting used to this; the heat was becoming more acceptable. It's body had absorbed a considerable amount of the Sun's warm light, which warmed it up over time. Just as if someone laid on the beach for a while. When the dragon started to build up the Ember, it closed it's mouth tightly, and tiny flames managed to escape and wrap around Ryuuza's snout. When you started going on the countdown, Ryuuza sprang towards the tree with a fire-engulfed mouth. The bark started to burn away from the mark, and some caught a tiny flame, burning further in some spots. A very nice jump in progression for Fire Fang! Ryuuza almost has it.

Fire Fang

"Ryuuza, what an awesome job! Next, I want you to focus on the flames within your body. Use the flames within your body to heat yourself up instead of soaking up the sun. You will need to be able to use Fire Fang with or without the sun. Think about how the sun felt on your body, and use your flames to heat yourself up the same way. When you're done with that, I want you to think about Bite. It's an attack you already know; now, instead of biting right off the bat with pure malice and an intention to hurt, I want you to first coat your mouth with flames before you chain Ember together with Bite. So, start running towards the tree, and when you're around four or five steps away from the tree, start coating your mouth with Ember. Two steps later, the flames within your mouth should already be blazing. When you're going to bite down on the tree, make sure you bite with full force so that the tree catches on fire, and some parts of the bark should totally be damaged. I won't be counting to five like before; I want you to try doing this on your own, Ryuuza!"

:charmander
Counter

Cadence seemed to be having some problems with Counter. Considering how far he had gotten, Aquos wasn't about to blame the courageous lizard. After all, he had took up her challenge of learning the move. The signature red glow before Counter struck still hadn't quite yet formed around him; asking him to deal twice the damage after the blow would be far too unreasonable. Now ... to remedy the problem - to which Aquos hadn't quite found a solution to. However, she was determined and generally smart enough to get herself out of situations, and after a moment of thought, the girl found herself with a simple solution to getting over the power barrier.

"Cadence, I want you to start using Focus to your Attack stat. However, you shouldn't pump your attack up so quickly so that the increased stat emerges at once. Close your eyes in preparation for a Focus to your attack stat. You should know that the increase doesn't really hang around, and that's what Counter is using. A brief spike in Attack to deal twice the damage, then everything reverts to normal. So, use Focus on your tail and try to up its Attack briefly, then close your eyes and try to sense if the Rattata is coming and lash out with your tail. Keep up your concentration and effectiveness of your tail as a weapon, and we should, technically, be a step closer to Counter."

She smiled. Focus was a technique that was flexible enough to allow Cadence to briefly increase his attack, which he should need for Counter. Next, the focus used should help him ... or so she thought. Well, whatever the case, a mere rat wasn't going to be killing her Charmander. Her hand rested on a second Pokeball containing her Zangoose, Requiem. If any trouble came from the fight, the white-furred Pokemon would be sent on the field and asked to help Cadence in defeating the purple rat.

So, you seem to be trying to work up the attack part, and getting it to deal double the damage. Hmm, very good. Charmander started to focus, and a grunt from the mouse confirmed it would attack soon. All the same, Charmander’s mind drifted into using Focus in its tail as best as it could, and try to power it up so that it will retaliate with a mean strike, doing double what usually is dealt. While that sounds crazy, it was almost a risky move to be using once it gets to be finished.

It was time! Rattata took off in a quick sprint. The mouse was getting closer, but too Charmander, things seemed to slow down. It’s body started to glow, and it got to a considerable amount of light surrounding it. Also, Charmander looked down at its tail, which seemed to be receiving a nice power boost. As the mouse reached him, and tackled him with its petit body, Charmander allowed himself to fall back, and then spin to swat the Rattata in the face. The mouse bounced back quite a ways, and seemed to fall to one leg. Counter had a very big gap to go. The glow seemed to have faded a ways in, and it leads me to thinking that the swipe was just luck with a critical. I can't say for sure, but I'd say keep going!

Ryuuza closed his eyes, and he seemed very focused on finishing up Fire Fang. When he opened his eyes, his eyes had a burst of fiery determination. The air around him seemed to expose heat waves, and he was becoming hoter himself. It was evidence enough when he stepped into a tree’s shadows, and still you could see the waves of heat rising from his body. The same tree turned out to be his target. Running for it, and getting close, Ryuuza’s mouth seemed to reveal small flames, and when he went for the bite, his teeth were nicely coated with a flame.

*A note for us all. Counter is an Egg Move, so it needs a much bigger progression "bar"

Despite the apparent difficulties in learning Counter, Cadence was more than halfway over with his learning curve. Not bad for an attempt that she had decided to do on the spot, honestly. Her eyes went back to the Rattata; if it chose to not attack, they would have to wait for another turn. However, considering that it was, after all, a wild Pokemon, it should attack every round.

"Alright, great job, Cadence! This time, we're upping the ante a little bit - I want you to use Focus twice, on your tail. Up your attack stat. Shut your eyes and wait for the Rattata to come. Keep your mind on your concentration and tail. The Rattata is kinda loud when it runs, so you should be able to hear it come with your eyes shut. Then step back, spin around for centrifugal force, and slap the Rattata with your tail. Don't let your focus break. Even when you're attacking, your mind should be in tight concentration on dealing more damage than you've already taken."

Once again, a mass tutoring of Headbutt-related moves - everyone was involved except for Accelerando. The Cestar didn't have a base of Headbutt, but instead had Zen Headbutt. It was a move which Aquos thought would be rather difficult to tutor, especially when she had something to do next. The teenager glanced at everyone; this would be their final tutor before she headed back to Millenia, to whatever awaited her at the starting point of her journey. Everyone seemed a little active - some raring for some time out of the Pokeball, some just happy to be with all their other teammates. With the exception of Cadence, of course. He'd be tutored Headbutt much, much later. But for now, contending with everyone's similarities and differences in her teaching of Headbutt would be tough - but for some of the Pokemon, she didn't see much problem in teaching the move, in all honesty.

"We're going to learn Headbutt. It's an attack you use by ramming your head into the opponent and usually causing it to flinch. The move is rather simple, so I can see everyone being able to use it in place of any sort of physical move. However, it isn't that simple as lowering your head and charging in blindly. You need a good area to target with your head, and hopefully, it'll connect. You'll also need some kind of force backing your attack up, so I'd like everyone to use a Focus to your Attack."

A quick download from her Poketech provided her two images.

"This is how Headbutt looks like in the initial stage. Everyone, I want you guys to keep in mind that Headbutt starts with a sprint that quickly increases into a fast dash. When the attack is executed, you will be ramming your head into the opponent, usually with a great amount of force behind the attack.

"Clavier, once you're done with the Focus, I want you to go back into your shell. You remember how in the beginning when we fought a Nidoran, you tucked yourself into your shell before using Tackle? It's something similar to that. Go into your shell, pop back out with your head shooting out swiftly - that springlike power should be a good base for practicing Headbutt. Eventually, you wouldn't even need to withdraw, but for now, withdraw into your shell and strike out with your head. Use one of these trees for practice.

"Requiem ... hmm. Up your attack some more with a Swords Dance. Next, draw back on the concentration you used during Hidden Power. Shut your eyes and dig deep into your reserves, and go for a powerful strike with your head. Start running at one of these trees. As you near it, lower your head and pick up more speed, then ram your head into the tree. However, you should be careful, and that's what I meant by finding a good target before using Headbutt. Brute strength isn't going to be enough; you need to find a slightly more vulnerable part of the tree to practice Headbutt on so you don't hurt yourself, okay?

"Sonata, this attack is similar to Tackle in the sense that it has a running start. However, it's a little more wilder than Tackle, so when you run, you should be running in a straight line without turning or jumping. It's totally landed. Think about Spark. Spark is a move that has you tackling with the power of electricity, so this time you should be using the speed from that two attacks and run towards your target. Now, try remembering how we did Night Slash - right before you slashed with your paw, you pounced. You'll have to do the same thing this time: break into a dash, pounce, and try to knock one of the fallen branches into the air with your head.

"Ryuuza! You have Rock Head, which prevents your head from ... um, getting damaged. It's a good thing, since you're going to practice on some rocks. I want you to charge at the rocks madly and blindly, then crash straight into it with your head. Right where you are now, though, pick up some speed first before charging, since it'll be vital to have sufficient speed and a certain ... edge to your Headbutt.

"Octave, you already know Horn Attack, so I want you to use that as a base for Headbutt. Pick a target, then start running towards it like before a Tackle attack. Lower your head, similar to Horn Attack. Now, instead of striking with your horn, use it to lift another fallen branch up, then bash into it with your head! You have to be quick, or the branch would smash into your skull. In short, start off like Tackle, prepare for Headbutt like Horn Attack, and finally strike with your head!

"Maestro and Elegy; you two don't really have a particular attack to base Headbutt from, and your speeds aren't really impressive either. Neither of you can get from Point A to Point B in a truly effective manner, so I want you two to first practice the basics of Headbutt.

"Maestro, I want you to run as quickly as you can from me to where Requiem is, before I finish counting to seven. If you can make it under that time, we'll work on the next step.

"Elegy, your movement isn't as good on land, so no running for you," she smiled, "but I do want you to practice some strikes with your head for now. Find a suitable spot, and slam your head into the tree. Try using the part where your horn is; that way, it won't hurt that much."

And everyone set to work. More destruction of nature? Yesplz.

With still a ways away, Cadence is trying to stay on the track for Counter. While all the same, it is a tutor. The mouse wasn’t going to give in, and the tutoring of this move was giving a sort of leverage to hit points on both sides. Rushing for another Quick Attack, Cadence had to use Focus quickly. This is exactly some of the cases with Counter. The first attempt was a success! The attack power increased and Cadence was able to receive the hit and hit for more. It certainly was not a critical that time! It had been about double power, a little less then what it had been going as. Kick it to full power!

We’re starting a big tutoring here, so let us not waste any time. Clavier was up first, and you had him Withdraw and lash out with his head. This certainly would help him get the move’s power down. Starting off, Turtwigs head stuffed into its shell, and after a second or so, he jerked his head out and forward. The force was strong, and made a gentle breeze go and hit your shirt, as it brushed past and allowed the clothing to sway with it. When it went to a tree, and did it, it became slightly dizzy. However, a dent on the tree’s bark was evident enough that it did well.

For Requiem, he tried scanning the area for a good tree, but had to settle for one off to the side. He sat there, spinning in a Swords Dance to heighten his attack. When he stopped, he tried to gain a stable mind. Focusing, it seemed like a good attack to have if say you were in close combat and had to get out; a nice strike with a hard head has to help. When he felt ready, the body of the Zangoose quickly jerked forward, and he pounded his head into the tree. Now, that was really good. But not enough power. Maybe running for the tree.

Sonata had the best chances for this move. Her moves had focused around running and striking. So she started immediately, and being as she was, she was naturally quick to some degree. Thinking of Tackle and Spark, but Night Slash at the same time, the mix slightly got her timing off, having her head filled with different plans and tactic. But she knocked into the tree and seemed to be almost there, just some more power.

Ryuuza had a good shot at this move too. His Rock Head ability proved worthy with the hard hair-like curve on his head. Running like a crazy dragon, Bagon leaped forward for a tree. His hard head did lots of damage, but not enough.

Heracross seen everyone else trying hard, so he started immediately. Hell, he was off before you could even finish the last word. He was running as quick as he could, and did all the necessary steps. But when he got to the tree—his target—something went wrong. He didn’t it just right and he fell to the ground, grabbing his noggin, for it had now a big bump on it.

Maestro was working on the speed part. He had tried pacing himself between you and Zangoose. The first time, well, he didn’t do so well. He failed with the timing, so he tried again. Well, that didn’t go good either; the Sableye had caught his foot on something and tripped. On the third try, his determination must’ve been strong. He had done it in almost the time limit, only a second over.

Lapras was doing simple work. She couldn’t run, that much was working against her already. Trying to knock into trees, Lapras was gaining power, but wouldn’t have the full effect without some good momentum. Maybe more Focusing on attack.

*I will add all of the headbutts as your pokemon learn them. So that I am not adding it all in one go and constantly going back to reflect on the progress.

And cuing laziness in three, two and one ...

:charmander
Counter

Aquos turned to Cadence, thinking about a better way to hasten the process. Upping attack with a simple technique like Focus had paid off rather well. But the question was easing him into Counter in a much, much faster way than usual. Perhaps another Focus? The girl pondered about it for a moment, and after weighing the options, she called out to the Charmander. The lizard returned to her side, fangs bared slightly at the Rattata in case it came after him and endangered his Trainer.

"Heyyy, Cadence. You have to work on your speed. Make your Counter faster before your opponent comes in with another strike. This time, I want you to try searching for your fighting-type energy. It's similar to how your flame feels - hot and blazing - but it has an important element in it that your firepower currently lacks against the rat: a super-effective blow that would send the rat to the ground and be vulnerable for a second or two. Once you've got that energy down, start concentrating on your tail like before and use a Focus to your Speed. Not your Attack, but Speed. That would make sure that your reflexes will be quicker and you can get your blow in before the Rattata gets away."

:turtwig :zangoose :luxio :bagon :heracross :sableye :lapras
Headbutt

"Clavier, you need to make sure your head doesn't get hurt ... hmm. Use Withdraw a couple times, then a Focus to your Attack before you ram your head into the tree again. This time, go for a running start, withdraw your head and strike out like you did before. We're almost halfway done, so great job!

"Like Clavier, you need a running start, Requiem. However, I don't want to focus on speed for now - you already have the ability to do so, and I'm confident you can do that. For now we'll pump your attack up even more with a Swords Dance. Stand a couple feet or so from the tree you were practicing on, and try to use that small space to your advantage. Breaking into a run is out of the question for you, so I want you to grasp the tree with your hands and take a deep breath. Pull your head back; keeping in mind your heightened Attack stat, you should smash your head into the tree, like what the Snorlax did in the picture I showed you before.

"Sonata, you're almost there! Just a final bit of running to the end point ... let's start with fixing the things you got wrong. The timing is in this order: Tackle, Spark and Night Slash. Run, pounce, then strike. Don't rely on Focus too much; you already have a naturally high stat in Attack, so use that to your advantage and you'll be on your way. Practice the final two parts of the move, namely pouncing and striking a couple more times so you're used to it. I believe Headbutt would be close after we've done that, Sonata~

"Hey, Ryuuza. I need you to tap into your draconic energy a little more. Bring out that craziness and let loose; don't be so tense and pressured to be your own self. You already are your own self, so might as well be a little more crazy, get a better running start and just let everything loose and crash into your target with your hard head. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to nail it soon - and then we'll take a break from tutoring! I'm sure you're tired.

"... ahhh ... Octave. Why the impulsiveness? Don't worry about it; take a break and the pain should hurt less."

The Heracross grumbled something and glanced at everyone else, especially the little dragon running for a rock. Why was he always the one to lose? He always felt pressured to be the best; his competitive spirit truly was great within him. However, he just couldn't understand why the others, those he never thought would be great, surpassed him most of the time. What was he doing wrong? Octave frowned as he looked at the rest. Something definitely was wrong, but he couldn't place his finger as to what.

Aquos took a seat besides the Heracross and smiled at him. "Hey, not everything is a race. When we're really racing for something, I'll tell you what we're racing, okay? For now, stand up again and face the tree. You have Horn Attack, and that's one attack no one on this team has. That already puts you ahead of them, so you have to use that to your advantage. Now, don't do anything until I've finished talking~! Start off like Horn Attack, and run towards the tree - then instead of striking with your horn, use your head. The part behind your horn is rather tender from your bump, so you'll have to work around that and find some other part of your skull ... perhaps somewhere on the back? You have a tough exoskeleton, and I'm sure the shell protecting your wings is really, really hard.

"... not fast enough, Maestro. Do it again while I count to seven this time," Aquos said. However, regardless of whether Maestro did it, she had slowed her counting so that the Sableye would make it under the time limit - she wouldn't want to discourage her new Pokemon, after all. Someone like Octave could take the pressure and competitiveness in his stride, but she wasn't sure whether the ghost-type could. All in all, it was worth being more careful and taking things slowly for him.

"Next, we practice jumping. I bet you're really tempted to climb up those trees and hang upside down because of your Wall Climb ability, but we're not going to use that. With each number I count, you jump once. I'll gradually increase the tempo and I'm sure with your agility, you'll be able to keep up with me." The jumping was to ensure that the naturally small-sized Sableye would be able to hit taller and larger foes, especially those pesky flying birds. If he had the jumping range and speed, hitting anything wouldn't be too much of a problem. And once that was done -

"Alright, next step. Start with a Focus to your attack and stand next to me," said the girl, careful to stand quite a distance away from a tree, "Run towards the tree as I count to seven, and make it under the time. When you've reached the tree, I want you to target a branch and jump towards it, trying to strike it with your head.

"Elegy, focus twice on Attack. Now, think about Strike. It's a simple move where you attack something with your head or your flippers. Now, pull your head back and add some force to your attack as you slam your head into the tree again."

The previous boost in attack stays for two rounds, so you’re good in the boost attack, now the boosted speed. It was about time to try and wrap this up. With one more Quick Attack, Cadence was prepared. He focused on making it work, and not failing like he had just done. When that happened, you know it was getting close. Counter didn’t have the best accuracy! But right now, it worked. He was tackled, but twisted around and struck back with a devastating force; the Rattata flew back towards a bush. It was over!

Clavier and Requiem were pretty much in the same boat. Well, not a boat, but situation. They needed to run first, and gain that special momentum that only run has. They seemed to be on different trees, but in a way were in sync with their movements—having a race! Of course, Turtwig had already been using Withdraw, but then started running at the same time as the Zangoose. When they both reached, they knock into the tree really hard. I’d say they both learned it well!

Sonata and Ryuuza both were on the side, as well. They seemed to be eager to try everything too. When they did, it wasn’t much surprise that dents were heavily made on the tree. Heracross had quite the talking to. But his next attempt should be very good. When he tried, he wasn’t like Sonata or Ryuuza, but on a second try, he did pretty good. His headbutt was coming along. Maybe bringing him down to earth and not in the race-mood, helped.

Maestro had to work on speed, and through this round, he was getting faster. Pushing himself further than the previous round, or ever before! He had been doing well in the speed. But when it came to the strength of the move, it rested more on the balance of speed. He needed some more. The few focus weren’t necessarily enough. The Lapras, Elegy, focused on her attack, like Maestro had too. But her attack was getting better. Maybe practice on the speed of her head going forward. Like Clavier did with Withdraw. Somehow make her quite faster.

Headbutt

He did it! Cadence had nailed Counter down perfectly.

Aquos turned to the Charmander, lightly pressing her palm onto his head. He was getting stronger and certainly looked stronger. Cadence grinned back at his Trainer. He had managed to learn a rather tough move in several turns, and in a rather impressive manner (or so he thought). A quick glance at the girl confirmed his thoughts; she was indeed proud of him in a way ... she just didn't say it.

"Right after Counter, we're picking up Headbutt. It's a rather simple move for someone like you who has mastered Counter and has several other powerful moves in your arsenal. Even then, it can't hurt to learn another move so you can be a little more versatile in fights.

"So I want you to sink back into the focus like before, when you were fighting Rattata. Stand a short distance away from the tree and focus and try to hit the tree as strongly as you can. Put in as much normal-typed energy as you can, so much that it overrides your natural typing of fire. Go for a running start, but keep your eyes on the path. When you near the tree, lower your head and ram straight into it. If it helps, pull your head back slightly before you slam it against the tree."

At this, Aquos showed Cadence how to do it by running a finger down his neck, and gently pushing his head backwards slightly. It was just a small angle, but it would create more space and momentum, so the final impact would be greater. Every little bit helped in the end.

"After you draw your head back this much, do what I said and slam your head into the tree! Don't pick the front parts of your head to do it, though. Octave hurt his head; you might want to pick a tougher part of your skull, preferably the top of it and the areas somewhere behind it."

And then now, the Sableye she named Maestro. He certainly was an active Pokemon, running around like crazy - in fact, the crazy grin upon his face seemed to indicate that he was actually liking the practice. The girl raised an eyebrow; Clavier was right. He was totally different from the rest of the Pokemon, which, by the way, had a slightly more serious and reserved side to them ... after some thought, Aquos decided to label Accelerando as yet another exception. The Cestar was just so playful!

"Alright, we're reeeaaaally close to the finish line, Maestro. Keep pushing yourself and you'll be even better than before, I'm sure. But for now, we have to make sure you get Headbutt, before we really challenge you with harder moves."

The Sableye snickered. The heck that meant ... ?

"... so we're going without the boosts to Attack and Speed this time, but you'll have to shore up your defenses with a Focus to your Defense. We're going to do some offensive practice ... with your head. Now, I'm not sure how it'll hurt you ... but I'll assume you do get hurt. I'll be counting to five, and on each count, you're going to jump and practice Headbutt on the tree. Yeah ... I know that sounds kind of silly, but trust me, Maestro! I'm actually confident on this."

She grinned at him. Naturally, the ghost-type returned her with a smirk. (Though he seemed a little ... tense, but Aquos brushed it off as something in the air.)

"Once we're done with that, I'm not gonna count anymore. It's up to you to time your movements, so you'll have to run from me, to the tree, then jump, and finally strike with your head. Like I said - totally up to you, the freedom's yours. But don't climb the trees, just keep practicing Headbutt until you nail it.

"Elegy, you don't really have any normal-typed moves to base Headbutt from. I'm sorry, but you'll have to be patient until you learn the move, okay?" Aquos told the Lapras, feeling a little ... weird that she was telling what was practically a newborn to be patient. Thankfully, nothing bad came from it.

"This time, try easing your body into the rhythm of the technique. Instead of having your body stay still throughout the practice, how about moving your neck slightly and your body as well to accommodate for the momentum? So we'll try this: anchor your body with your back flippers, pull yourself backwards with your front flippers, then move your neck back like before and swing forward with a good measure of recklessness. Your head should ideally slam against the tree, and you shouldn't be moving either. I think the best way to approach this is with your body not moving, but the rest of you is ... well, that was a little confusing.

"In short~! Anchor yourself, pull back, then slaaaaam!"

Charmander had just fought and used up quite a bit of energy trying to learn Counter. Switching so quickly might not be the best, but sure was when you wanted the entire team to get it out of the way. So, the lizard tried focusing a ways from a tree, like you said. He remembered using Scratch countless times, where he requires little to no typing energy of any specific kind. Not even his Fire. Thinking he was ready, he darted for his target. Jerking his head up, he went a little too far and face planted. Though, he did have the run down and nearly the strength. As Charmander backed away from the tree, he seemed to wobble and nearly fall over.

Next up were the two that were almost done. Maestro the Sableye and Elegy the Lapras. It seemed to me that they both should learn it. With enough practice, they should get it right in no time. Sableye did your little training, and then took it to the tree. His head knocked against it hard and for the few seconds that followed, the suspense of whether or not he truly learned it lingered. Finally, he felt as if he had, and snickered even more. Elegy, on the other hand, had already done what you were talking about. Her eagerness surpassed her patience of waiting for you to watch. She demonstrated it once more when you did turn, and what you found her doing was a perfect Headbutt.
