Joshua stared out over the water of the Millennia Town Beach. The overcast weather meant there were relatively few people populating the sandy stripped that was usually packed. A couple or two taking a romantic stroll and even another trainer down the ways. Not that he could blame them the clouds gave the beach a slightly eerie tone. He stood there and just watched the waves roll into the shore for a minute. The somewhat turbulent water churned forward as it formed frothy white waves, pushing bits of flotsam and seaweed shoreward. Before slowly retreating back out to sea sucking the pieces of deadwood and sand back out. Reclaiming the very objects it had pushed to shore.

Joshua was brought out of his musing by a pulling at his jeans. At first he thought Rose had tugged on his jeans and looked down at her, then realised when the tug came again that he was looking at the wrong Pokémon. Turning to his other side he noticed a Krabby tugging at his jeans. The crab Pokémon made several clicking sounds and continued to nip at his ripped jeans. Joshua chuckled, "I wonder what he is doing," he thought to himself. "Probably thinks it’s something to climb or maybe he wants to make more rips in the fabric. Maybe I found an artistic Krabby." The thought amused him immensely and the chuckle became full blown laughter. "Hey little buddy, want to go on an adventure," he asked the Krabby.

"Alright Rose, lets catch this Krabby and improve our team. Time to make the best of our time on the beach," he said. He mused about the best way to proceed. Low kick was useless against a Pokémon like Krabby; it simply was not heavy enough. Her new move Low sweep could be useful, just to slow the Krabby down a bit. "Alright Rose let’s do this," Joshua said backing away from the Krabby. "Low sweep then follow it up with your focus energy and karate chop combo. This is not the toughest thing you have faced today.

An artistic Krabby. Yes, that's exactly what it is - and on that note, I've just gained four addition limbs and called myself a spider. This is a common, wild and potentially dopey as hell Krabby, for goodness sake. He could be just like the games-company, Capcom, in a way - if a brilliant idea ever makes it into his head, it's probably a complete accident. But of course, there are those Pokémon who can maintain a coherent thought beyond "attack, attack, attack" - so hope may not be totally lost!

Unfortunately, this Krabby was one of those was ascribed to a school of thought where lashing out with any old trick would do the job - a school where they have to put padding on every solid surface and the students aren't allowed anything sharper than a crayon. Regardless, lashing out with anything, in this case a Vice-Grip, was, on this rare occasion, the right thing for the crustacean to do - it was either that or blow more useless bubbles than seen at a Ibiza foam party! Being the quicker of the two, the wild Krabby charged forward, wrapping a large claw around Rose's right arm.

Thankfully, the skin of the Superpower Pokémon was unharmed - but a sharp cry of pain wasn't unheard of as the claw crashed down upon the ligament. In response, your Machop allowed her left leg to bend, giving her perfect aim to strike with a Low Sweep attack upon her crustacean opponents legs! The River Crab Pokémon immediately relinquished his grip of your Pokémon, shaking off the fact that he had just had his legs taken from underneath him. Sadly for you, however, even a Krabby with reduced speed is still quicker than Rose - you know, what with him having four small scuttly legs to your Machop's bipedal structure.

As Rose attempted to focus her energy for an upcoming Karate Chop upon the Krabby, the crustacean took the opportunity to use both claws upon the Superpower Pokémon's legs - a double Vice-Grip strike! Needless to say, your female Machop (which I still find weird in itself) cried out once more, shaking her limbs in vain to try and force the River Crab Pokémon to release his grip - this Krabby was dangerous! Of course, the level of damage he was doing health wise dwarfed in comparison to the level of pain it caused your bipedal fighting type - if anything, despite the cries and shrieks, Rose had the upper hand!

That was proven even further, with the Superpower Pokémon using her focused state of mind to pick out one of the Krabby's weak areas - the 'skin' (if you can call it that) between his eyes! Once the crustacean had released his grip, Rose took advantage, striking that area hard with her left arm! Krabby shuddered from the impact of the Karate Chop, feeling his weight be pushed down into the sandy beach beneath his feet - you had inflicted a critical hit!

You most certainly have the upper hand here, Joshua - thankfully, this time, you should be able to win! Finish this crustacean off and catch him!

Joshua watched the Krabby move forward with a little trepidation. He clearly had not accounted for just how quick the small crab Pokémon could move on its multiple legs. Even after Rose landed a leg sweep it was clearly still much quicker than her. Even then the Krabby had been standing still with a vice grip on her arm for her to hit it. Luckily for him it seemed to have to objections to charging forward at Rose. It's willingness to get inside Rose's arm reach was a blessing in disguise. He winced as Rose cried out in pain again. Despite the way this battle was progressing it was clear Rose was not having a good time. He immediately winced again as Rose landed one hell of a Karate chop on the Krabby's shell right between its eyes. "Dangggg," Joshua thought. "That left an impact in the sand. Not to Self: never to get in the way of one of those Karate Chops." Despite Rose's cries of pain and the Krabby's valiant efforts he clearly had the upper hand here and he was not going to lose it.

The Krabby was clearly not going to give up easily that was for sure. His vice grips were also a pain, literally for Rose. The question is what exactly to do about it. He was tempted to throw a Pokéball at the hurt crab Pokémon saving both it and Rose more damage. But he had only one Pokéball left and he would hate to have it escape the ball and render all Rose's effort and pain pointless. It would be best to finish the crab Pokémon off and then catch it. Then we would have to head back to the mart for some much needed supplies. In hindsight it would have been a much better idea to head there before coming to the beach, then again the only perfect vision is hindsight. Joshua watched the struggle between the super-power Pokémon and crab Pokémon. He just did not see a way to avoid more pain for Rose. The Krabby was too fast for her to finish it up with just a single blow. "Unless," he thought as inspiration struck. "Alright Rose, new plan. The Krabby is faster than you so let’s keep our distance. Get away from the Krabby and target it with a leg sweep. Use the length of your legs to keep the Krabby at bay. It may be quicker than you but it is also shorter," he called with a smile on his face, confident his plan was going to work.

How noble of you to try and keep your Rose from suffering more pain - that kind of care for your Pokémon will take you a long way in this world. Sure, it may cause some issues when the pain barrier has to be broken for the sake of victory, but it is a very good trait to have. Regardless, right now your main plan to try and defeat this Krabby and, with any luck, catch the little crab before another Pokémon has the chance to turn him into their lunch.

Of course, with your tactic in mind, avoiding the claws of this little crustacean was the main plan. Thankfully, it seemed as though Krabby was still aiming for your Machop's arms rather than anything else, so once he attempted to grapple onto Rose's upper ligament, he found himself clipping away at a massive pocket of air. Intriguingly, the Superpower Pokémon had performed what can best be described as a limbo stretch to avoid the claws of the beast - before bringing her right leg around to sweep it straight underneath the Krabby's legs!

However, even though the crustacean was flat on his back and he was nearing the end of his days as a wild one, his claws were still in action. Rose, unwittingly, fell onto her back having been unable to sustain the limbo position for much longer. Needless to say, the Krabby noticed the leg within close proximity, as it stuck out like a sore thumb, and crashed his claw around the body part with a second Vice-Grip attack. Naturally, another shriek of pain could be heard - this must sound like an angle-grinder to the eardrum in terms of how much want to hear it, doesn't it?

Despite your orders to use Low Sweep on the crustacean, Rose had had enough of this River Crab Pokémon - and abandoned all logic. Instead, once the Krabby had released her leg, the Superpower Pokémon stood up in an instance, wincing somewhat from the pain inflicted on her bipedal body. However, instead of bringing her legs down to strike the crustacean with a Low Sweep, your Machop walked over to her opponent, and struck the body of the Krabby as hard as she possibly could! It was nowhere near as powerful as anything she had done previously - but it was enough to reduce the River Crab Pokémon to a swirly-eyed mess. You won!

Now, time to catch it and move on?

Joshua watched in absolute amazement as Rose put his plan into motion. Well not entirely successfully but that can hardly be blamed on her, can it. Still he could not help but feel proud as she bent over backwards to avoid Krabby's claw. It was almost like she was doing the Matrix, "Wait that doesn't even make sense, what's a Matrix," Joshua thought to himself. Still it was amazing to watch Rose lash out with her foot and take the Krabby's legs out from underneath it. Especially after she managed to dodge its claw like that. He did not enjoy what happened next as much, overbalanced from the dodge and kick Rose fail straight on her back. Perfect target for the Krabby, exactly what he had been trying to avoid. "Damn," he said to himself. Unsurprisingly the Krabby promptly latched its claw on to Rose's leg. This caused Rose to do something he had never seen her do before, lose her temper.

Obviously after Rose lost her temper the fight was over in short order. Yet again Joshua was reminded just how strong the super power Pokémon was. He was definitely going to need to ensure she kept her temper. But that perhaps was a fight for another day. Right now he had a Krabby ripe for the capturing, time to expand his party once more. With any luck no one would try and steal this off his belt in the Pokémon centre. He pulled an empty Pokéball off his belt and tossed it from hand to hand. "Excellent work Rose but now it’s my turn," Joshua said and with that he threw the Pokéball in a perfect arc to land just in front of the Krabby.

One knocked out Krabby, ready for the capture - always a positive thing for people like you, who want to add to their Pokémon team! It almost goes without saying that there was no hope for the crustacean to escape the PokéBall you threw down - the day a fainted Pokémon can defy these red and white capsules is the day the world ends. Within seconds, the PokéBall catch snapped shut with a small 'click' - and you had yourself a new Pokémon partner!

Of course, Rose and your new Krabby (who you can give a name, if you so wish) were looking rather worse for wear - not to mention your stock of PokéBalls had become drier than the Sahara Desert (which is rather ironic, considering your location). With that in mind, you stepped off the sandy beach, immediately making your way back towards the Pokémon Centre that had caused you so much ire of late, what with crazy ladies and thieves attempting to block your progress in the world of Alternia. Luckily for you, your time in the red-roofed building was short and sweet, as your Pokémon, for a change, were healed without a hitch - and within seconds, you were out of there as quickly as a cheetah hunting his prey.

Now that your Pokémon were ready to take on the world again, it was now a question of where else you would like to go - did you want to go out onto the beach again and train your newly caught Krabby? Perhaps the ferries that led towards the rest of the region were your preference? Or maybe you wanted to set out into the rest of Alternia Island to explore the cities and towns that it had to offer?

As you considered this, you heard a rather unfamiliar sound coming out of one of the nearby buildings. As you looked across, you noticed that it was called the 'Sea House Café' - or at least, that's what the sign atop the door of the rather pristine-looking building stated. Bringing Rose out once again to be by your side, you considered giving this little place a look - after all, you weren't entirely sure what was going on in there, and it couldn't hurt to take a small break from your Pokémon adventures to find out, could it? With that in mind, you and your Machop stepped inside the café, hoping to find out just what was causing such a sound.

What greeted your arrival into the Sea House Café, however, was not what you expected at all. As you sat down at one of the tables closest to the front door, you noticed that everyone's attention was currently focused towards the back of the room. The reason for that, clearly, was a young woman, who you guessed was in her mid to late teens. Perplexingly, her outfit looked as though she had run head first into a thrift shop. What was really noticeable, though, was the large electric guitar strapped to her torso.

JESSICA VAUGHAN Posted Image

Considering the nature of this place, it was quite the surprise to see a young woman dressed in such attire - let alone playing a rather large guitar (with an even bigger amplifier) in the middle of a café! However, you weren't really taking notice of that - in a way, you had become entranced by the tunes that filled the air. It was like nothing you had ever heard of, given your affinity towards Pokémon and technology, in addition to your middle class background - things like electric guitars and the music of the day had barely entered your thoughts for more than a second. Yet here you were, sitting in a café at the edge of town, listening to smooth rock music played by this young woman. Rose seemed to be getting into the rhythm too!

Sadly for you, the piece came to a close - prompting applause from the entirety of the crowd that had amassed within the café. "Thank you all for listening," the woman spoke, bowing politely in response to the good reception she had received. Needless to say, it threw you for a loop - you expected such an artist to be the brash, egotistical and spunky type, not calm, collected and polite. "That's all I have time for, I'm afraid," she admitted, glancing across to a second act, a band, that were readying their instruments. It was intriguing that she was looking at the band fondly, rather than a glint of jealousy - it almost seemed as though she knew she shouldn't outstay her welcome.

With her guitar holstered away in a suitably-sized bag, the young woman attempted to squeeze through the small gaps left by the packed café. Thankfully for her, she was able to wind her way around the crowds and make her way towards the front door. However, momentarily, she paused, glancing over towards where you had been sitting. With everyone else focusing on the racket being played by the new act, she was easily able to wander across to your table, continually glancing over towards Rose with each pace. Once at your table, she only really had one question.

"Excuse me...um, is that a female Machop?"

With a flash of light the battle was over and the Krabby was caught. For the second time that day Joshua found himself starting at a Pokéball holding a new member of his team. Now he just had to figure out if he wanted to give it a nickname or not. He liked given Pokémon new names, he usually tried to capture what he thought that particular Pokémon was about. Well that's what he had decided to do anyway, he had forgot to do it with his Minun and Plusle with all that was going on when he caught them. More importantly it a new name would signify the start of their journey with him, a kind of new beginning. But what to name it? Rose had kind of been a snap decision for the Machop. But she seemed to like the name was clearly he had picked right. This Krabby though might be harder, he wanted something brave sounding. Considering how focused the Krabby had been even when Rose was beating it like a new punching bag. "Time for a fresh start little Krabby, but what should I name you," Joshua mused to the Pokéball. "Mr Krabs?, Nah doesn't sound right. Hmmm what about KillaKrab." He sighed, coming up with names for his Pokémon was going to be harder than he had thought. "Wait I got it," he exclaimed, if this was a cartoon a giant light bulb would have appeared above his head.

"Klaws."

Pleased with himself he headed of the beach. "What a good name, Klaws. Terror of the deep, or more likely in case ankles," he thought. He smiled happy with how well his short trip to the beach had been and occupied with his thoughts headed into the Pokémon centre. Unlike the previous times he had been there today this visit went very smoothly. So smoothly in fact that he soon found himself standing outside again wondering if he actually had managed to get in and out of the centre that quickly. It was more likely he fallen over and hit his head inside and was currently in a coma dreaming. Snapping himself out of his thoughts he once again set out from the Pokémon centre. He was starting to get a really good understanding of surrounding area. Probably something to do with the number of times he had been there today. He came to a key junction road, from here he could either head pretty much anywhere. Question is, where did he want to go. Going back to the beach was an option but now that he had a Krabby he would prefer to catch another type of Pokémon rather than those found at the beach. So he could head out into the rest of the Island. The routes should hold some interesting Pokémon, plus it would give his team some invaluable experience. Or he could always head to the ferries, but he had already decided he wanted to tackle the first gym. But before he did training was in order. So the routes it was, but first he needed to stop at the Pokémart not having any Pokéballs left and all.

Just as he started to head towards the Pokémart he caught something at the edge of his hearing. It sounded odd, kind of like music but not any kind of music he had heard before. Distracted he started trying to figure out where the sound had come from. There was plenty of time to go to Pokémart, but the music was playing right now. After a little while discerning where the sound was coming from Joshua found himself standing outside of a Café. Apparently it was called the Sea House Cafe and quite a number of people where heading inside, clearly attracted by the same music as he was. Finding a free table in the crowded place was easy enough. Settling in with Rose he turned his attention to the girl playing the music. She was most certainly different, Joshua could not remember if he had ever seen anybody ever dressed like that before. The odd clothes were complemented with a large and pointy electric guitar. He sat back and listened to the music, considering he had never really heard this type of music before he quite enjoyed it. He could not help but chuckle as Rose bopped her head along in time with the music. An artistic Krabby and a Musical Machop, what had he started. "Maybe I could start a Pokémon band," he thought to himself. The thought of a Machop wailing on a set of drums was hilarious.

Soon enough however the young ladies set was over and she was heading off stage. She did not sound like he had anticipated when she thanked everyone for listening, a good example to never judge a book by its cover. He tried to get into the next act but the overly loud volume and the crowd noise was kind of ruining it for him. He was about to get up and head back out when he noticed the girl with the guitar heading towards him. Settling back in his chair he decided there was no rush for him to be anywhere. To his surprise when she reached the table she only had one question, was his Machop female. Thought he was not sure what he was expecting it was not that. Why was everyone in this city surprised he had a female Machop, being female did not make Rose any different from any other Machop, even though she was in the minority. "Yeah it is, her names Rose. Why is everyone so surprised I have a female Machop?," he answered curious. Joshua pushed one of the chairs at the table outwards with his foot clearly offering her a seat. "I quite liked your music, my name is Josh by the way."

I see you've gotten bored of the questions about your female Machop already, eh? I can see where you're coming from - it should be nothing to write home about, considering it's a natural occurrence. Then again, the concept of a female Machop (and eventually a female Machamp) is rather alien - you're virtually going to end up with a female bodybuilder. If you've ever seen what one of those looks like, trust me - it's not a pretty sight. "Yeah it is, her name is Rose. Why is everyone so surprised I have a female Machop?," you answered in response to the female musician - personally, you couldn't really understand all of the furore over owning such a Pokémon.

"No, no, you've got it wrong," the young woman quietly admitted, becoming somewhat flustered as she shook her head. Despite so easily performing her music in front of several hundred people just minutes ago, here she was in front of you, one guy, looking like she was about to ask you out or something...wait, I might be on to something here. "It's not that she's your Pokémon that's the surprise - it's kinda the fact that female Machop exists in the first place. It just doesn't seem right considering how masculine they are, you know?" she stuttered, shying away from your gaze. However, despite her embarrassed expression, she did take the seat you had offered at the café table.

"Jessica. Jessica Vaughan," the young woman stated, still taking more notice out of the scenery outside of the window than you - though you could clearly see her red face behind the brown ponytail, no matter how much she tried to hide it. "Nice to meet you, Josh," Jessica admitted, finally turning her head to face you - even if the blushing beauty still remained redder than a ripe tomato. You still couldn't quite understand why she was so embarrassed in front of you - just what had you done to warrant such a response?

As she finally settled herself down, her fingers pressed against each other in front of her lips, as though she was about to slap her hands together and start praying. Sheepishly (and with her eyes trained on yours despite her nerves), she spoke once again.

"Um, could I ask a favour of you?"

Joshua settled back into his chair as the girl answered his question. He could not understand why she was so flustered. To be fair he supposed his answer to the question could have been viewed as him snapping at her. He was not angry with her at all; he was just tired of people being surprised or derogatory. Sure there were 3 times than number of male Machops than female Machops, but given the size of the region and how common the Pokémon was that was still a large number of female Machops. Rose was just as capable as any other Machop. Despite his objection to the question he stayed silent while she explained her thinking and the reasoning behind the question.

He tilted his head sideways for a second and considered her answer. It was somewhat odd, but there were examples of it in humanity as well. It’s not like it was just the Machops that had weird gender roles. But that was the thing, Pokémon were completely unique you could not relate them to anything else in the world. He snapped out of his train of his thought when she sat down and told him her name. He watched her looking out the window of the café for a minute, he decided Jessica suited her. Though he was fairly sure she was still blushing, weird. I suppose it could be considered weird, but only if you think of gender the ways humans do. Gender is entirely a social concept what women or men are expected to do, be or look like changes depending on the time in history, place in the world and the current societal situation,” Joshua answered leaning forward. Even attaching the most basic gender definitions does not really work right. I mean look at Roserad and Clefairy both a fairly girly Pokémon and they both have males. Roserad’s gender assignment is 50/50. Then look at ditto that does not even have a gender. Or any of the legendries you hear so much about. How can they be one of a kind? Pokémon are very different to us so placing our constructs of gender on them just doesn't work.”

He settled back into his chair again explaining his thoughts had put him in a very completive mood. But he had plenty of time for that later, ignoring the loud music filling the café he turned his attention back to Jessica, who had just asked for a favour. Uhhh yeah sure I guess. Long as it doesn’t involve anything to crazy or grievous bodily harm,” he chuckled wondering what she wanted.

"I hadn't really thought of it that way," Jessica quietly admitted, nodding nervously. Needless to say, she was rather impressed with your response - even though she still looked like she was about ready to die from sheer embarrassment. "I guess you're right," she stated, folding her arms - if only to stop them shaking rather badly. I still don't quite understand why she's so nervous around you - but maybe this little favour she wants to ask you will have something to do with that? Being a rather quiet girl (contrary to her rock-style outfit), Jessica had little intention of pushing you for an answer - not that she needed to.

“Uhhh...yeah, sure I guess. As long as it doesn’t involve anything too crazy, or grievous bodily harm,” you answered in response to her query, chuckling at the sudden turn of pace in all this - you had barely met this girl, yet here she was, asking for favours and being redder than a ripe tomato at the mere sight of you. Maybe you can find out what's going on, help her, then hightail it out of here before you have to suffer any more funny looks from the rest of the café's customers - yes, some of them have taken notice of your shenanigans at the back of the room, and I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they think you're Jessica's boyfriend, especially considering how much blood was rushing to her face.

"Thank you," the young woman stated nervously, pushing her hands down upon her navy blue skirt as her shoulders twitched in apprehension of what she was about to say. "I...um, saw you outside the Pokémon Centre before I came here to perform my set," she admitted, pointing out towards the visible red-roofed building not far off in the distance. "You'd just had something stolen by a guy in a hat, I think - I wasn't too sure what he took though," Jessica added, recalling the version of events she had witnessed - though quite where she had seen that event occur was something she neglected to mention.

"I really admired how you easily beat that guy down and got your Pokémon back," she noted, reminding you of how Rose easily defeated the Purrloin owned by that burglar - though admittedly, that battle had been made all the easier by the fact that the feline had been more inclined to ignore everything the thief had asked of him. "I'm not much of a trainer myself. I mean, all I have is Light," Jessica admitted, unveiling a PokéBall from inside her hip pack - which soon revealed a baby Electrike. Seriously, this little Pokémon was the weakest of the weak.

"Could you please help me raise Light?" Jessica asked, bowing her head out of anxiety and respect, what with the rather hefty task she was asking you. After all, not even you had to raise Rose from scratch. "She was given to me as a baby about a while back, so that I could bond and battle together with her, but with my music career taking over and my lack of experience in battling, I'm not all that...good, you know?" she added, her body shaking once more. Perhaps this was the reason why she had been so nervous all this time? After seeing your victory in one battle, she was in admiration of how strong you were, and almost felt like she was a mere peasant in front of a prince?

I suppose it couldn't hurt to help Jessica, could it?

Joshua closed his open mouth and stared at Jessica for a second. He had been ready to argue his point when she pretty much straight up agreed with him. That was certainly not what he had been expecting. Most people rarely gave up their ideals on important issues like gender in the space of one argument. Let alone just straight up agreeing with someone else after just a couple of minutes. Realising he was staring Joshua shifted his attention to the buzzing café around them. To his surprise the people around him seemed to paying a weird amount of attention to them. Shooting weird looks when they thought no one was looking. This day was just getting weirder and weirder. He had just about spent enough time in the café he felt it was time to get back to his journey.

He turned his attention back to Jessica as she spoke up again. Apparently she had seen him catch the burglar that attempted to steal his Plusle and Minun outside the Pokémon centre. He chuckled to himself, attempted was definitely the key word there. The guy was absolutely useless, how he could live as a thief was beyond belief. He heard out the rest of Jessica’s proposal and then stopped to think. Her Electrike was tiny, it would be no easy job training up the Pokémon, and in all likelihood it was going to involve multiple visits to the Pokémon centre. On the other hand Jessica was the first person he had met outside of the Pokemon centre staff who had not tried to battle him, steal his pokemon or generally annoy him; special mention obviously goes to Danielle who managed to pull off two of this at the same time. Despite the fact Jessica seemed to be having trouble stringing a sentence together Joshua was enjoying her company so far. Plus her music was pretty good so it looked like the pros outweighed the cons.

To be fair that guy really had no idea what he was doing. Trying to battle a fighting type like Rose with a normal type Pokémon is hard normally,” Joshua explained. Trying to do it with a Pokémon that doesn’t want to listen to you is just plain suicide.” He stared at the baby Pokémon for a second before turning back to Jessica. But sure I don’t see any harm in helping you raise Light. Who knows it might even be fun,” he teased. “I have always had thoughts of becoming a breeder when I get bored of travelling round Alternia battling, preferably after I get all the badges. So who knows, It might be a learning experience for the both of us.” He stood up and stretched his arms out. Sitting after spending most of the day on his feet had left his muscles somewhat stiff. I have to stop off at the Pokémart first though, couple of things I needed in the first place and some others we will need to help raise Light,” he said to Jessica and then grinned. Well are you coming or not.”

“Sure, I don’t see any harm in helping you raise Light. Who knows - it might even be fun,” you stated, deciding that assisting someone who hadn't attempted to battle you, steal your Pokémon or annoy the hell out of you (I still haven't forgiven Danielle for being such a heinous fool, trust me) was a good idea - the fact that you'd only just met this girl was something you weren't too fussed about, which is rather noble of you.

"Thank you so much!...um, my utmost gratitude, Josh," Jessica replied, notably cheery and extremely happy - until she realised several people were given her rather bemused looks, probably including you! Moments later, her whole demeanour slipped into that bashful albeit polite one that she had been showing you for the past few minutes. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you're not sure what to make of Jessica at the moment - sure she's a brilliant musician in her own right, but she's smashes almost every stereotype you could possibly have about electric guitarists given her shy, polite and almost scared persona. She's a strange one, but I'm sure you'll see the true Jessica Vaughan once you get to know her, right?

Whilst she was considering where they should go next, you had already made your way towards the door - it almost seemed as though she had taken in nothing you had said beyond your acceptance of her request. "He's...really going to help me," she whispered to herself, seemingly struggling to take in what had just happened. "Nobody's ever done that for me before..." Jessica continued under her breath. Despite you not hearing what she had just said, her rather confused complexion indicated to you that she had never really had to ask anyone to help her out in this way before - either that, or no-one had ever said yes to her requests.

However, she soon realised that you were making your way towards the exit - and began blushing even more brightly than before. "Wait for me!" she shyly muttered, recalling Light back into her PokéBall as she picked up her large guitar case - that thing certainly seemed rather heavy in comparison to Jessica's light frame, but it appeared as though she was able to carry it with relative ease. You weren't sure how long she had been traveling for with that guitar - but that wasn't the important thing right now. "I don't have much in the way of items, so can we stop off at the PokéMart?" Jessica queried as you departed the Café - seemingly unaware that you had just stated you were going to the PokéMart in the first place!

You nodded in reply (though say something if you wish), looking around for the rotating sign that accompanied the shop building - not that they were very difficult to find, given the utter size of the things as they towered over the rest of the Town. That and the blue top upon the Mart meant you and Jessica had found your destination - and what do you know, it was smack bang across from the Sea House Café!

"Welcome to Millenia PokéMart, how can I help you?" a young man queried, taking particular interest in Jessica - maybe she was a rather popular figure around Alternia, given her musical talents? You presumed that this young man worked there - the uniform kinda gave that one away, really. However, something didn't quite seem right - it was almost a lecherous kind of look that this man was giving to your new companion. Maybe you need to step in on this one, Josh?

Don't be too hasty with your words though - you don't want to get involved in a scrap here.

Joshua turned around as he heard Jessica ask him to wait for her. He raised an eyebrow at her and leaned against the door frame. She was still acting slightly odd and he still had no idea why. He could have sworn she was only a step or to behind him though. Oh well must just be him, he watched Jessica pick up her stuff and make her way across the café. “You know if you asked nicely Rose would probably carry that guitar for you,” he suggested. He pushed himself off of the door frame and held the door open for her. Uhh yeah sure,” he answered slightly confused. Was he going insane,? He was 90% sure he had just asked her if she wanted to go to the PokéMart. He shrugged and followed her out of the Café.

Now the question was what he needed from the PokéMart. Obliviously Pokéballs were a must, that was the original point of this walk before he had gotten distracted by the café. However if he was going to be training a Pokémon like light he would need a couple of potions as well. He did not want to say it was weak, but you know it was. He held the door to the PokéMart open for Jessica. He was confused how he had noticed it since it was across from the Sea House Café, but oh well. He looked around the inside of the PokéMart. It was a smallish PokéMart thankfully Joshua did not need anything to expensive or complex. He turned as a man wearing a uniform asked if he could help them. Joshua scowled slight at the look he was giving Jessica, but decided to ignore it for now. Uhh yeah, I need two Pokéballs and a Potion thanks." he responded. "What do you want Jess?”

You think Jessica is acting a bit odd, do you? You know, I'd not really noticed - I had assumed that this was her default demeanour!

I'm being sarcastic, of course - this girl was clearly blushing like a tomato and appeared to be away in the clouds at the moment. Part of me reckons you and your short blonde locks may have something to do with that - and offering for your Machop to carry her guitar case is probably not going to stop her from acting this way, methinks. "No, I couldn't possibly burden you with...this," she replied, nimbly lifting the massive case into the air like it was nothing. I don't know how long she's been carrying that thing around, but I reckon she's gotten used to the weight of it.

However, you did notice once more that this rather beautiful young woman was blushing more, as you both made your way into the PokéMart to acquire your required items. I'm sure if you were to tell Jessica that Light was very weak, I'm sure she would agreed with you, in fairness - she had never once battled alongside the tiny Lightning Pokémon. Of course, at the moment, that wasn't the problem at the moment - you were currently dealing with a somewhat creepy young man wearing a shopkeeper's uniform. By all means, he was only doing his job - but it was hard to overlook the glint in his eyes when staring at Jessica.

Annoyingly, despite giving him your order, the man immediately ignored you! "What would you like to purchase, my dear? I'm Darren, and I will be your guide," he stated, placing a hand on her shoulder in a bid to keep her attention on him.

Intriguingly, however, Jessica was uninterested in dealing with this young man. You noticed, in particular, that her blushing, shy demeanour had dissipated in the presence of the shopkeeper. "Thank you for the offer - but I would prefer to look around with my...friend," she replied, shifting Darren's hand away from her shoulder - before giving you a short glance, her face turning somewhat red again as she caught your eye.

Needless to say, he was rather irritated by this turn of events - perhaps he considered your companion as an easy target because of her shyness when you entered with her? However, as he was working at the moment, and didn't wish to make a scene in the presence of customers. Subsequently, he sullenly nodded, making his way across to help another person - though he did shoot you in an extremely dirty look. Jealous, much?

Meanwhile, given the shopkeeper's decision to ignore you, you elected to pick up the relevant items instead, before taking them to the counter. "If you're getting a Potion, I could get some as well," Jessica blushed once more, picking up a fair few more of the healing item than the one that you had picked up - you counted ten in total! How was she going to fit those in her hip pack?

The clerk appeared unabashed at the surprising amount of items on the counter. "That'll be $500 for you, madam - and $170 for you, sir," she stated, accepting your cash gratefully.

As you both attempted to make your way out of the PokéMart, you noticed that lecherous glare from the male shopkeeper once again. Though on the plus side, you won't have to come back here for a while, right?

So then Joshua - where would you like you to go with your musician companion?
