Nagou Village is a lush green village with lots of... well, green! It's a great place to start a Pokemon journey, and there's plenty to do! Like the Nagou Manor, which is just up the road is due for some exploring. There's bound to be a spot where Pokemon gather in that gigantic place. There's also the Nagou Gym, where you can earn your first badge. True, the people in there are rather skilled, but your Volbeat is unstoppable, right?! Maybe not right now, at this moment... but it hopefully will be one day! Next thing you know, you might be the walking out of the gym doors with a smile on your face and badge in your Trainer Card! If the gym isn't what you're aiming for, how about exploring the Forest of Legends? Maybe it's a little tough, maybe it's not. The only way to find out is to explore it yourself. Remember, don't believe everything you hear-- your eyes never lie. See? There's plenty to do here in Nagou Village! If you want to stock up on items and head to another town, there's a shop right here in the village. Nothing's stopping you from adventure!... Except this here Slowpoke. It looks kinda' tough. Perhaps because it's so slow, you'll have the upper hand in battle. By working together with Volbeat, I know you'll dominate this guy! Level 5Do what you have to do, but have fun while doing it. It's been a long and tiring day. Traveling through a swamp, fighting a Grimer by a cabin that mysteriously disappears, battling an ancient Tezeh, then finding this wonderful Taillow and defeating the evil Ekans who ate his mother. It was quite the day. Then finally, after hours of walking, I arrived. Bright and powerful Millenia Town. It wasn't much of a town, more like a metropolis. The bright lights, the street musicians. It was all so overwhelming. I had never been outside the forest before, so it was all so new to me. Suddenly, Arumani burst out of his Pokeball. It startled me, as Pokemon aren't usually able to do that. But I wasn't complaining. I liked the little guy. He was a good friend. After a moment, a little girl was picking him up and fondling him all over. "You... your Croagunk is just plain perfect... the right size, it's quite strong and its my favorite pokemon!" Man, what an annoying squeal! "How would you like to trade your Croagunk for this pokemon, a potion, a Razor fang, and a pecha berry?" Trade away Arumani? I would never! Well, I was going to when I first caught him, but that was a long time ago. We had a bond now that could never be broke-is that a Nidoran!? The girl released a small and young looking Nidoran. Nidoran are one of my favourite Pokemon and I've always admired Nidoking. But trade away Arumani? I could never, not even for a Nidoran. "I'm sorry, but my Croagunk is not for trade. The offer is tempting, but I'm going to have to decline. However, I dot have a level eight Grimer and a level ten Ekans I am willing to trade. I'll trade them for just the Nidoran, I don't need the other stuff." Hopefuly the girl would like my offer. I can't trade away Arumani, not even for a Nidoran. He looked up at me with shocked and happy eyes. He knew just what he meant to me and he was beyond ecstatic. He dove into my arms and I smiled and hugged the little guy. I put him onto the ground to stand by me and walk along with me and waited for the girl to accept or deny my offer. OOC: Yes, I did just switch from 3rd to 1st person POV. Yes, I realize this is the middle of my journey. |

Naughty and Nice

The girl listened to you talk before rolling her eyes. Like everyone else you were choosing to keep a stupid frog over her adorable little Nidoran. "It's your loss.." she said, recalling the Nidoran and holding it's pokeball in her hand. She wasn't really interested in trading Nidoran for either a Grimer or an Ekans. True, her Nidoran was still a baby and was mostly untrained, but it was still more adorable than a pile of sludge or a stupid snake. "No, I don't think so." she said, pocketing the pokeball that contained the Nidoran as she grinned. "I really like your Croagunk. And since you won't trade it to me, I have to ask. Where did you catch it?" Stepping closer, the girl blinked curiously before she started to poke annoyingly at your Croagunks face. "He's all squishy and slimey. He looks nice and as if he'd do well in contests, but I bet he's a weak one. The weak ones are always the slimiest." Pulling her fingers off your Croagunks head, the little girl sniffed it and made a disgusted face. "EWWWW!!" she said, her nose and eyes crinkling in horror. "He smells like he came from the sewer! I wouldn't take your Croagunk if you paid me!!" Waving her hand around wildly as if it was contaminated, the girl rubbed her hand all over your shirt, trying to rid herself of the slimey feeling. "Eww eww eww!" When she felt her hand was safe enough again, she glared up at you. "If my hand gets infected I'm going to make you pay!" Cheeks reddening in anger, the girl kicked you in the kneecap as hard as she could. "You're ugly, just like your Croagunk!" Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a Premier Ball. "That's it, it's time to battle! That is, of course.." she grinned devilishly. "Unless you're afraid to be seen battling an adorably precious little girl.." |

This girl is so annoying! FIrst, she squeals at a pitch that should be out of the human hearing range, and then she starts prodding and playing around with Arumani! I should probably return him to his Pokeball so he doesn't get stolen by this crazy girl. I took out the ball and it swallowed Arumani with its red beam. I looked at the girl getting ready to battle me and sighed. I'm never going to live this down. "I'm sorry, but I must decline. I'm not afraid to battle you, but my Pokemon are tired. You see we've just been through a long trek through the swamp, so we're all very tired. Maybe you'll find someone else to battle." I walked past the girl, looking on my Poketch for a map. I wasn't sure if there was one, and I didn't know how to work the damn thing. I turned to the girl again. There was no way I'd ever live this down. "Umm, you wouldn't happen to know where the Pokemon Centre is, would you?" First, I decline a little girl a battle, then I ask her for help. Well, Millenia Town was a big place and it was my first time outside the forest, cut me some slack. I waited for the girl's answer, looking around for someone else to ask if she gave a snappy answer. |

Oh, this was rich. First, you wouldn't trade your 'beautiful' Croagunk to this girl, then you, ahem, got her slimed by him, THEN turned her down for a battle, and now you want her help? Fantastic! The young girl began to grin evilly as she realised your predicament. "Only if you battle me, you big meanie! Your disgusting toad slimed me, and I want to make you pay!" Her voice was now so high-pitched it was giving you a headache. "Go, Princess! Teach this mean man a lesson!" At this, the threw her Premier Ball to the floor, releasing a cheery little rabbit. "Buneary!" It chirped, hopping in front of her trainer. It seems the girl wasn't going to take no for an answer... Lv. 5Despite your best efforts, it seemed like you would be battling this little girl after all. Here's hoping you can put up with her screeching until it's all over, for better or worse.. but wait! "Kayla! Dinner's ready, sweetie!" You heard someone, an older woman, shout from a few stories above you. Looking up at one of the multiple apartment blocks dotting the city just across the street, you could see a woman leaning out of the second-floor window. "Kayla! Come on, it'll go cold! I won't tell you again!" And with that, the window slammed shut. Back to where you are, the girl, Kayla apparently, dropped her head dejectedly. "Damn it.. Come on back, Princess." she sighed, calling back her Buneary. "To get to the Pokemon Center... Take a left on the second turn to the north, the way you were going, and then a right three turnings after that. You can't miss it." The young girl began to walk across the street, towards her house. Suddenly, she spun around. "But don't think I'm letting you off this easy! Do you hear me? I want you back here for a battle as soon as I've finished my dinner! You haven't seen the last of Kayla Greenfield!" Kayla turned into the door of the apartment, and vanished. You could imagine your ears breathing a sigh of relief. If they could breathe and sigh, that is. In any case, you didn't have to battle, you knew the directions to the Pokemon Center.. and no doubt, as much as she'd be annoyed by it, you probably HAD seen the last of Kayla Greenfield. Unless you wanted to go back later, that is? For now, the local Pokemon Center seemed like the best option. Hopefully the walk would be uneventful, for your Pokemons' sake. |

Ugh, why is this girl allowed to be out this late anyway? Must be a big city thing. Well, this girl's Buneary didn't look too strong, Malkah could probably take it. I was about to release it when I heard her mother telling her to go home for dinner. Thank Arceus! I heard her directions and wrote them down on my Poketch to make sure I got them right. I probably wouldn't come back to battle her, I don't want to humiliate her or have her run crying home to her mother. Best to just forget about her. I followed the girl's instructions and made it to the Pokemon Centre. I walked in and healed my Pokemon. Finally, after this whole crazy trek they got a chance to rest. I walked up to the nurse. "This Taillow isn't mine exactly, he's traveling with me but I haven't captured him, so if you could heal him too I would really appreciate it." I let her take Taillow off of my shoulder and do what she needed to do to heal him. I felt bad for the little guy. But I'd give him a good home if he chose to travel with me permanently. Suddenly my Poketch beeped. Looks like someone named Snow made an offer of an Ultraball and TM 45 Attract on my Ekans. I accepted the offer and watched Ekans' Pokeball materialize into the Poketch. I awaited my items in return and for Taillow in healed condition. |

You watched as the Pokeball containing Ekans slowly dissolved into the Poketch, as the snake was sent off to a new owner. Hopefully this "Yuki" would care more for his.. violent nature. But anyway, the Ekans is no longer of your concern, and now you watched as their side of the trade materialised in your outstretched arm. An Ultra Ball and a disk. You put the two items into your bag, reading "TM 45 - Attract" as you did so, then turned back towards the counter. Soon after, Taillow and the rest of your Pokemon came back through. "Here you go, sir.", the local Nurse Joy called you over, smiling. She handed you back your Pokeballs, and Taillow hopped onto your shoulder. Before you could leave, though, she pulled you over, whispering into your ear. "I didn't see anything this time, but the other nurses might not be so forgiving. You might want to put a couple of those Pokemon in the PC.. Carrying so many without a license is illegal, and technically I should have released one of them as punishment. But you look young, so I'll let you off this time." Well, you'd received your warning. You'd have to be more careful with these large parties in future. With that said, she allowed you to leave, smiling at your retreating back until the next person in the queue came forward. Right. Now you had a choice. Either you could take heed of Joy's advice and bring your party down to a legal size, or you could risk it and head off back into Millenia Town, to find something else to occupy your time. This place was ALWAYS packed with people, so I'm sure something would come up. In fact, it sounded like there was a commotion down the street. Maybe you should check it out in a few minutes? OOC: Trade complete. Snow has your Ekans, you have his Ultra Ball and Attract TM. |

Over the legal limit? I had no idea there was such a thing. Well, I could probably deposit Grimer, and technically Taillow isn't part of my team. As I headed to the PC in the corner, I got a message saying that some people were in a bidding war for my Grimer. I guess I could just wait it out and sell the thing once a final bid was made. I walked out with Taillow on my shoulder and saw a commotion happening down the street. What could it be? Well, my Pokemon are healed so might as well go and find out. First, I took out Tikvah. I took out Attract and used it on her, teaching her the move. Now she'd be more useful in battle until she learned more attack moves. I patter her on the head and returned her before heading out to see what was going on down the street. Maybe it was that little girl from before. Or maybe it was Team Scion! Only one way to find out. I started walking down the street, my hand ready to draw one of my Pokemon from their Pokeballs. Probably Azil, I'd like to see him battle with me and see how he did under my commands. |

[[Really you need to work on your posting skills. I know you made it to Gmod before so I know you are capable of better work >___>]] As you headed on down the street to see what all the commotion was you couldn't help but feel as though something big was about to happen. As you drew closer, you noticed that a crowd was huddled around in a circle watching two Hitmonchan beat one another senseless. Their trainers stood on the sidelines, instructing their respective Hitmonchan. Suddenly a light shone from above the crowd and a huge wave of psychic energy washed over the area. Soon enough, above the crowd a bright light descended to the center of the circle, halting the battle promptly as it came down. Eventually when this light landed on the ground, releasing another strong wave of Psychic energy people began to run away, all but those who felt they were strong remained. So, why were you still there? Anywho, while the light continued to shine brightly the echoing voice of a mysterious creature rang through your head. "I have come to take you, the strong, to Joukai Pass for the Tournament of Aegis." The being spoke as the light began to slowly dim, and soon enough the beings true form was revealed as one that was too be feared! ![]() "Let us go now, for the battle is to commence soon!" And with that all of you in the circle was engulfed by the light and broken into nothing as you traveled through space and time to Joukai Pass, eventually reaching your destination in a crowd of other trainers ready for battle. |

Two Hitmonchan beating each other to pieces? Well, not quite what I was expecting, but entertaining nonetheless. The two punching masters continued their dance, one withdrawing as the other approached, their masters giving skilled commands. They took their commands well and reacted with grace and power. As the battle was nearing its peak, something strange happened. A light filled the area. The energy radiating from it was unlike anything I had ever felt. It was strong and drove into my very core. The light was brighter than anything I had ever seen, but not just a regular brightness. No, it was a brightness that illuminated not only the world around me, but the world within me. It filled my soul with a white gleam of light and energy. Its power washed over me like a tidal wave and filled me with an utmost peace and calmness. It spread from my soul to my heart and to my mind. It enriched me with thoughts and knowledge completely unknown to me before. It let me feel and see and hear things I never could before. It lifted me above all others to a plane of pure energy and enlightenment. It gave me insight the likes of which I never had before, nor could ever dream of having again. And as soon as it happened, it was gone. The light, the power, everything. In a flash I had seen the face of God himself and within the time it took me to blink it had vanished, like a snowflake on my palm. But as the light dimmed it revealed the form of a creature. It was a Xatu, and it floated down from the light onto the ground. "I have come to take you, the strong, to Joukai Pass for the Tournament of Aegis." It spoke to me not through voice, but in my mind. I looked around and there were very few others left, they all must have fled when they saw the light. The light was a powerful thing, and not everyone can contain its strength. I felt I was powerful enough to withstand its energy and strength. And so I stayed. And this tournament it spoke of, was it the tournament I had seen the flyer for? How could it have known I wanted to join? Perhaps its power is not its own. Perhaps there is a greater force at work here. For a moment I had the image of three floating beings, almost like fairies, but they instantly vanished from my mind. "Let us go now, for the battle is to commence soon!" Suddenly we were engulfed by the same light from before. But this one was a little different. It felt my body being split to a molecular level and transported through space and time to another place, far from the big city. I felt myself reassemble. It took a little bit for me to reorient myself, but when I did I saw many trainers around me. I was in a large field, with tall grasses all around me. There were other trainers as well, some looking confused, and some looking calm. In the distance I saw a large tower. It was far away, and yet I felt compelled to enter it. It was drawing me with such force it almost hurt to resist. I would go after the tournament. Its presence filled me with a sense of awe and insignificance, so I looked away. I looked around me and waited for further instructions, either from some sort of tournament official, or that Xatu who had brought me here. Suddenly my Poketch beeped. The bidding war for Grimer had ended, with a user named Striker winning it for $200. I accepted the offer and watched as Grimer's Pokeball disappeared into the machine. After a moment the money came out. It was automatically added to my online bank account so I had nothing else to do but wait. Technology was so practical, but if it were to break we'd have nothing to fall back on. That's why I liked Nogou Village. A taste of technology with nature as the base holding us together. It was in a sense the perfect village. I was lost in thought, waiting for further instruction and information about the tournament. Edited by Jsol, May 30 2009, 12:34 PM.

You poketech beeped back, absorbing the pokeball you had offered it. You grabbed the slick $200 from the machine, and stuffed it in your pocket. Well that was easy, the things that modern technology was interesting, that’s for sure. Looking around, you saw the crowd of people, including the Hitmonchan move towards the tower. Well, I guess you better get moving; otherwise you would miss the tournament. Images of the epic battles you would be entering suddenly entered your mind. Had you trained your Pokémon enough to enter such an event? You would probably hope so, considering you were taking the time out of your busy schedule to do it. People around you shoved you around, trying to make their way towards the tower. There sure were a lot of people entering this thing; maybe you didn’t have as good as a chance as you though. Then again, with the prizes they were giving out, it would be expected to be packed; hopefully you won’t get knocked out by a team that can trump you easily. You approached the tower, and you heard an intercom instruct you. “All participates, please enter the tower, thank you.” It said in a crackle, opening it’s doors. Well, this is it, you were finally doing this. You had been training for quite awhile, and the moment of truth was finally here. Let’s try not to disappoint ourselves. ( TOURNY PICKS UP HERE) |

I walked away from the tournament grounds, going nowhere in particular. I hung my head low as I walked away. My Pokemon's wounds were healed, but their pride was bruised far deeper than any cut or ache. Their trainer had given up on them. Well, I would just have to try harder. I couldn't bear watching them get hurt that badly so I did what I felt was necessary. Luc seemed to understand me, and so did Shelakah, but Arumani was still angry. When I got far enough away form the tower I let all my Pokemon out of their Pokeballs. It was my strength as a trainer that had failed them, but I would start bettering myself from this moment on. It's what mom would want. My Pokemon looked around, taking in the sights. Luc looked concentrated, looking up at me with intensity. He was ready for whatever I would do and say next. Tikvah and Malkah were alive with curiosity. They were looking around excitedly and they were simply overjoyed to be here in such a large open space. It was quite different from the forest they were used to. Shelakah had her usual blank stare, but within it I could see focus and inner strength. Arumani was angrily staring at me, his arms crossed. I would have to explain to him that what I did I did for him. Azil just stood there looking around. The world has changed a lot since he saw it last. I didn't know him well enough at the time to be able to really read him, but he looked sad that the world was no longer how he remembered. I felt for him, and I would talk to him later. Taillow simply perched on my shoulder. Maybe now would be a good chance to officially add him to my team. Eventually all my Pokemon were calmed down and looking at me, curious to hear what I would say. I looked at all of them in turn, my face serious and my mind focused. I would show them that I wasn't weak, that I could teach them to better themselves and in doing so better myself. First, I addressed all my Pokemon together. "Everyone, I would like to apologize. I wasn't strong enough to continue the tournament, or smart enough to out battle our opponent. The fault is mine that we lost, and I'm sorry." All my Pokemon were watching me intently, listening to my every word. Arumani still had that stubborn angry look on his face. I would have to talk to him later. For now, I continued speaking to all of them. "But this loss has only given me a stronger resolve to better myself. For now, I think we should start training, learning new battle techniques so we can learn to defeat any foe in battle, no matter how strong." My Pokemon started speaking to each other. They were probably excited about learning new moves, and even Arumani looked interested. Taillow simply sat on my shoulder. He wasn't sure what to think. He looked like he was debating something in his mind, but I wasn't sure what. For now, I would focus on all my Pokemon individually. I would start with Luc. I walked over to the Volbeat and began to speak. "Luc, you will be learning a technique called Tail Glow. It's a simple move, but its effects are strong. It will allow you to use your special moves with more strength. To use this attack, you will have to, well, make your tail glow. To do this, try using a Flash, but don't make it very bright. Focus the energy you use to use Flash, but concentrate it in your tail and control the brightness. It's a dull green glow, and it will make you stronger. Give it a try. Start by trying to control the brightness of your Flash." Luc nodded, excited to be learning a new attack. He was focused and concentrated on his task. His eyes closed, and he began to focus. While he worked on this attack, I turned to Malkah. The little Piplup was wild with curiosity and energy. "Malkah, your technique is called Bubblebeam. You know how to use Bubble, so this will be easier. Bubblebeam is simply a stronger version of Bubble. What you need to do is form the bubbles stronger, and make more. You need to make them shoot out faster as well, and make them more concentrated. It may take a few tries, but I know you can do it." Malkah looked determined to learn this attack. She turned to the open space behind her and began to focus. She knew she would need to build up more moisture than before if she was going to make the attack stronger. She'd have to suck in more air to shoot them out faster as well. Making them more concentrated was simply a matter of closing her mouth only slightly more, enough so that the bubbles could get out, but they would be going on a straight path. After Malkah came Tikvah. The Seedot was young and curious. She wanted to prove that she wasn't just good for lowering her opponent's stats, she wanted to be able to do some damage. Nature Power was too difficult to teach, so I would go for something simpler. Body Slam seemed to be a good move to start with. She knew how to use the global attack Strike, so all she needed to do was make it stronger. "Tikvah, what I want you to do is called Body Slam. It's really simple. You just need to run and slam into your opponent with as much force as you can manage. Try to throw yourself at your opponent with all your strength." I hoped my description was good enough. Tikvah looked a bit nervous about slamming all her weight against something, but her desire to be a powerful member of my team overcame her nervousness. She looked around and when she found her imaginary target she began to work herself up to slamming into it. She started breathing and readying herself. While Tikvah was preparing Body Slam, I went over to Shelakah. The Slowpoke had taken major damage in the tournament but she looked as calm as ever. I looked into her eyes and saw a focus and concentration I hadn't seen before. She must've been motivated by the loss, and she was determined to get stronger. She was a smart and powerful Pokemon, so I would give her a little bit of a tougher move than my other Pokemon. "Shelakah, I want you to try out a technique called Zen Headbutt. To do this you need to focus your psychic energies into your head and ram into your opponent. The psychic energies will make your head stronger and it will cause it to deal more damage. Now, you already know how to use psychic power, so this should be easier to learn. WHat you need to do is take that psychic power and force it into your head. When you feel your head full of psychic energy and power, I want you to run forward and ram your head. So basically, fill your head with psychic power, lower your head a bit so your forehead is facing forward, then ram your head into your opponent. For now, though, I want you to practice just holding the energy in your head. We'll work on the headbutting part after." I prayed that my teaching was good enough. Shelakah seemed to understand, and her eyes glowed blue for a moment before dimming down to their regular colour. I was certain she had the strength to hold her psychic power in her head without hurting herself. Arumani was next. He still looked a bit angry, but he was interested to see what I would teach him. "Arumani...I'm sorry. I know you felt shame when we walked away, but I did it for you. I couldn't bear to see you hurt like that." Arumani calmed down a bit. He must've understood what I was saying at least a little bit. I continued. "But, we have to make sure we never have to walk away like that again. And to do that I'm going to teach you a new move. It's called Mud Bomb. You know how to use Mud Slap so this will be easy to master. All you need to do is take the mud from the ground, pack it together so it won't fall apart in your hands, and throw it at your opponent. Easy, eh? To do this you need to scoop up the mud from the ground, and quickly pack it together. Then, after about a second of packing it, throw it as hard as you can! This needs to be done swiftly and fluidly. Think you can do it?" By issuing it as a challenge, Arumani was all the more determined to do it. His eyes showed focus and drive. He smiled confidently and I smiled back with the same confident smirk. Arumani was a tough Pokemon, he would be able to master this move easily. Finally, I came to Azil. The Tezeh was still looking around, awed that the place had changed so much. "Azil, I know you miss your old home, but this is the world now. You can't change that. But look around. Isn't this place just beautiful? The Joukai Tower off in the distance, the blue sky, the open fields. All of it is simply inspiring. The ancient world may have been your home, but this isn't so bad, is it? Azil looked to be deep in thought. He looked around a little more before looking back at me. He looked ready to start his training. I smiled and began to give him his orders. "Alright Azil, the move you're going to learn is called Shadow Ball. You take your ghostly energies, form them into a solid ball, and launch it at your opponent. It may seem hard, but think about it this way, you know how to launch rocks with Rock Blast, right? Well this is the same, but with ghost energy. To gather this energy, you need to concentrate. Focus on your ghostly energies and concentrate hard. Focus on them until they become a solid object. Then, try to gather all the energy together to form a ball. Then, finally, launch the ball at your opponent. Start off with simply manifesting your ghostly energies physically, we'll work on the rest after you've mastered that." Azil looked focused and concentrated. He was focusing very hard on forming his energies into a physical form. He closed his eyes and held his hands close to each other. The rock fragments floating around in his ghastly body started to tremble a bit. He was concentrating very hard and he was in deep thought about this. He was a powerful Pokemon, so I had full faith in him. But what about Taillow? I would have to speak with him too. I looked over at him and he hopped off my shoulder, stepping in front of me. He looked curious and very serious. I crouched down to be closer to him. "Taillow, you have been a wonderful companion since I found you first. I know we haven't spent much time together but I think there is a strong connection between the two of us. I know your pain of losing a mother, I can relate to your situation. I would love it if you would stay with me as my companion and friend. I think together we can make a powerful team, and our other friends would agree with me when I say I think you'd be a welcome addition to our team. What do you say?" I took out a Pokeball and offered it to him, smiling softly and warmly. I prayed he would accept. Edited by Jsol, Jun 27 2009, 08:09 PM.

Wee you certainly were busy, weren't you? You're actually tutoring moves to six Pokémon at once... well, let's just say that it's going to be very hard. You'll probably end up with a crick in your neck by then end of this session from having to continuously turn your head backwards and forwards to ceck the progress of each of your Pokémon, but who am I to tell you that you're biting off more than you can chew? For all I know you might have really big teath! Anyway, considdering the circumstances, I should probably try not to stand around here chatting idly, because there's a lot of work to be done, and I'm guessing that this ref is going to be pretty huge even without all the usual chit-chat, so let's get started. So, the first to step up to the plate is Luc the Volbeat. Luc was learning Tail Glow, which really shouldn't be too dificult, because all he really had to do was light up his tail, right? Of course, the tricky part was learning to utilise that energy to boost his special attack. The concept behind Tail Glow was to charge up the bulb on Luc's tail like a capacitor and then draw on that energy when he wanted to use a special attack. The trick was to be able to store the energy there and keep it there without having to think about it so that he could go about the rest of his business. Luc drew on his energy and sent a surge of it towards his tail as if he were using Flash. For a moment his tail shone a brilliant and bright white, illuminating the entire area, but then he remembered to try to keep the glow to a minimum, so instead of allowing the energy to rush out he tried to hold it back. As he did so, the glow being emitted from the end of his tail grew dimmer and dimmer until it was eventually just a faint light. This seemed to cause a bit of a tingling sensation, because Luc was jiggling around a little bit. Eventually it just became too much for the poor little bug type, and he finally released the light that he had stored up, causing a Flash brighter than any you'd ever seen him do. You were lucky it wasn't dark, because you'd all have burned out retinas if that were the case. It seems that Luc doesn't have the hang of this yet. Be patient though... despite what it may seem, Tail Glow is an advanced technique and it will take some time to master. Just have Luc focus on storing his energy in his tail. Doing it a little bit at a time may help. [ Tail Glow: 16% learned ]Next in line was Malkah learning to use Bubblebeam. Already having learned how to use Bubble meant that learning Bubblebeam was simply a matter of improving her lung capacity and practicing to control the way she blew out those bubbles, and this is all something that should be pretty dang simple. With all of this in mind, Malkah took a deep breath, and held it in. With the oxygen in her lungs she was able to start the very scientific and also way-too-confusing-to-be-bothered-even-trying-to-explain-in-this-ref process of drawing copious amounts of water from somewgere inside the tiny penguin's body. Once this was done, she let the water fill up whatever tube it is that conects the water-creation-area to her mouth, and simultaneously let the air back up her assophagus, allowing the two mixtures into her mouth at the same time. With a well practiced mouth movement she blew the first bubble. It was fairly gentle and traveled a slow path, but she was only doing this as a starting point. Afterwards she tried moving her mouth into a few other positions as she blew the air through the surface of the water that she had created at her beak's opening. It took some doing, and there were a lot of mistakes. The first few attempts simply failed completely... a couple of bubbles left her beak only to burst a second later, and a couple burst before they even got out. Once or twice the whole air part of the equation failed to register, resulting in more of a squirt than a bubble. Eventually though she figured out how to blow several bubbles in quick succession. The still didn't travel particularly quickly atler leaving her mouth, but at least she was able to chain four or five bubles together, and this was a huge step towards learning the technique. [ Bubblebeam: 25% learned ]Seedot's aren;t exactly known for their courage or brutality, but your Tikvah seemed to set a new standard. This little creature seemed bent on learning how to both defend herself as well as how to actually contribute to a battle, and once she got over the initial apprehension of throwing herself towards something with little regard for her own safety she seemed truly excited at the prospect of learning a new move. Glancing around the area, Tikvah couldn't find anything soft that even barely resembled the squishyness of another Pokémon. A nice green bush would have been perfect, but unfortunately the growth in this section of the pass wasn't quite so forgiving. Short of something squishy, Tikvah settled on practicing her attack on a nearby rock. It wasn't a particularly big rock by human standards, but it was a boulder compared to the tiny Seedot, and besides... a rock is a rock, regardless of what size it is. The fact was that when a Pokémon thumps its body into a rock, it's going to hurt a bit. Ah well... you have to admire the little grass-type's bravery. With only a moment's hesitation, Tikvah was off, and before you knew it she'd thrown herself into the air and was heading straight for the rock. It was surprising how focused she was on the attack the first time round. Often when teaching a physical attack like Body Slam the Pokémon learning it pulls out at the last second, but Tikvah went straight for it first time. She was motivated, she was determined, and she was fearless. It looks like you've got a rare prize on your hands with this one, because she's guarenteed to be a fast learner. You couldn't help but wince as you saw Tikvah collide with the Goliath-esque stone. The rock didn't yeild, obviously, and Tikvah most certainly came out worse-off, but before you knew it she was on her feet again and ready to have another crack at it, despite the obvious discomfort that she'd experienced. This was one hell of a Pokémon! [ Body Slam: 20% learned ][ *BONUS* Take Down: 7% learned ]Shelakah's move may have been one of the hardest to learn in this teaching session, but as we've established once before, thes Slowpoke was no dill... at least, not as far as Slowpokes go. With the practiced method of drawing on the energy used to iject confusuion into the minds of her opponents, Shelakah called on her psychic powers and instead of prjecting them from her head she focused on instead fortifying her head with that energy. It was nearly surprising at how quickly she was figuing this one out, because there didn't seem to be any doubt in Shelakah's mind as to what she was supposed to be doing. After a few minutes (yes, minutes... she is a Slowpoke after all) Shelakah's eyes were glowing a vibrant purple color and there seemed to be a slightly shimmering aura around her head. It looked for all the world like she'd mastered this incredibly complicated move first go, but as soon as she went to move a little bit the aura disapated and Shelakah seemed to have forgotten exactly what it was she was supposed to be doing. It seemed that the Slowpoke needed a lot more practice at keeping that psychic power where it needed to be. [ Zen Headbutt: 22% learned ]Whether Arumani had completely forgiven you or not was still a mystery, but it was time that he got to work on learning this Mud-Ball thing. In him mind, this was going to be a cake-walk... after all, it was really just another variant of Mud-Slap, right? With that motive, the Croagunk planted his hands in the ground and released a chemical that allowed him to soften the soil and produce a muddy base to work with. Perhaps he was overconfident, or perhaps he simply wasn't trying hard enough, but Arumani's first few attempts at Mud-Ball were VERY unseuccessful. He'd scoop up some mud, roll it around in his hands a bit, and then fling it forwards, but almost as soon as it left his fingertims it all just fell apart. He didn't even manage to show you a decent Mud-Slap during his attempts, which indicated either an exceptionally bad bit of teaching, or an exceptionally bad bit of learning (an exceptionally bad bit of reffing is obviously out of the question). I'm not going to point any fingers or place any blames, not am I going to pass judgement, but I strongly suggest you work out what's wrong and rectify it, because at this rate you're never going get Arumani to learn Mud-Bomb. [ *UNLUCKY* Mud-Bomb: 4% learned ]By the time you'd finished watching all of the other Pokémon in their attempts to lear these new techniques, Azil had already attempted to do as you instructed, with somewhat disapoint (though entertaining) results. Turning towards the spot that you had left the Tezeh standing, you now only saw a pile of rubble with a dense black mass floating above it. It would seem that in his attempt to summon the shadow energy required to correctly use Shadow Ball, Azil had drawn a lot of power from his own body, and in doing such he had actually managed to collapse the bonds that were holding him together. On the bright side though, what was left of Tezeh was most certainly a Shadow Ball, so at least he knew what he was aiming for and he did have one (however inefficient) way of summoning that energy. If I were in your shoes, I'd tell Azil to pull himself together (ba-dum-tss!) and get to work on figuring out how to reproduce some of that ghostly energy, instead of just sapping it away from more important areas. [ :tezeh Shadow Ball: 28% learned ] Finally we come to the Taillow that's been hanging around of late. Now, you'd mate a pretty fair proposal, and the Taillow had clearly seen that you were kind to your Pokémon and treated them with respect as well as friendship. The bird would be an absolute fool to turn you down. He quickly examined the ball that you held out to him, and then glanced up into your face, then around at the scene about him. Then came the real surprise. With a little hop the bird left your arm and soared over to each of your Pokémon in turn. At each stop he landed in front of them and dipped his head to them all. This was new. Was he saying "hey guys, I'm joining your team", or was he saying "cya all later"? It was nerver-wracking to watch as the Taillow fluttered about and speaking in a language you couldn't understand. Finally, he headed back over to you, and the eyes of all the members of your team were upon the two of you (well, except those of Tezeh, because his head had landed on the ground facing the other direction, so he wasn't able to turn and look). The bird landed on the ground before you, stared you in they eye, and then let out an almost menacing cry: "TAII!" Well... what's the deal here do you think? Clearly there's something more going on than meets the eye, but what could it be? It's time like these you need Minti--- er, I mean, you wish you had a Pokémon translating device of some ilk. Anyway... figure this out soon, ok? |

I watched my Pokemon perform their moves, each with moderate success for the most part. I was actually very impressed with all of them. Well, all except for Arumani. He just wasn't trying. This wasn't like him, he was a very determined and confident Pokemon, and I have no idea what happened. I'll get to him eventually, however, as I needed to focus on each of my Pokemon in turn. I'd go in the same order I did when originally teaching them. I would deal with Taillow eventually, but first I needed to teach my pokemon their new moves. First up was Luc. He wasn't doing too terribly, he just needed to move slowly. He needed to learn to contain his energy and store it for later use. "Luc, wonderful job. What you need to work on now is storing the energy. You created it nicely, but you need to hold on to it. Try creating little bits at a time and holding it there in your tail. When you feel comfortable holding that level of energy, slowly move up and create more. There's no rush, so take as much time as you need. I know you can do it." I smiled at my little friend and gave him a reassuring look. He smiled back and started to try again. If I gave him time I'm sure he would be able to do it. Next up was Malkah. She'd been doing pretty well, and was able to string together several bubbles. Unfortunately, they didn't travel very far. She was still doing very well, and she just needed some time to work on her technique. There wasn't much for me to teach, she just needed to work on shaping her mouth properly and finding the right balance of air and water. "Very well done Malkah, I'm quite impressed. All you really need to do is experiment with the shape of your mouth and the balance of air and water you create. Just keep working at it, you'll get it soon enough." The little Piplup looked at me with excitement and energy in her eyes and continued trying to learn Bubblebeam. After Malkah was Tikvah. Now Tikvah really impressed me. I didn't know she had it in her. She needed to learn not to hurt herself while throwing her weight around. "Tikvah, very good. I'm very proud of you. Just keep trying, and try not to hurt yourself while doing it. You're doing great and just need some work on your technique." There wasn't really much to tell her, she was doing as much as she could. She was determined and motivated, and I could see it in her eyes. She would soon become a powerful fighter. Fourth was Shelaklah. I was actually surprised with the progress she'd made. She was doing very well holding the energy. Then she tried moving. Well, I couldn't blame her. She was a Slowpoke after all. She'd need to really concentrate on what she was doing. "Alright Shelakah, great job creating that energy. All you need to do is concentrate on holding it there while you move. Start by moving really really slowly then gradually get faster. Don't rush though, there's no hurry. Just move at your own pace." Asking a Slowpoke not to rush may have been redundant, but it needed to be said. Telling her to move at her own pace, however, may mean I'd have been standing there for several days. It was a risk I had to take to teach this move. Now we came to Arumani. This would be tough. "Arumani, I'm not going to lie. I'm very unimpressed with your effort. Where's that fighting spirit I saw in you during the tournament? You need to get back on track. Alright, here's what you need to do. You need to pick up the mud, and make sure it's in a hard packed ball. First let's start with that before me move on to throwing it. Just pick up the mud and pack it into a solid ball. Try doing it slowly at first, then as you get better at it try doing it faster and faster until you can do it in one fluid motion. Come on, I know you can do it!" I prayed that he would listen to me and start off slow. If he didn't it was his loss, but it would cause me quite some frustration. I had my faith in him that he'd learn the technique, the question was how long would it take him. Finally we were at Azil. At first I didn't realize he was the floating black mass until I saw his head in the middle of it. He'd found a way to create the energy and his aim was great, but he took the energy away from himself. This was a problem. "Azil, excellent aim there. But, you need to find a way to create the energy, not take it from your own body. First you need to pull yourself back into shape, then try again. Try to create little bits of energy at a time before forming a full out Shadow Ball. Don't sap energy away from your own body, create it. I'm sure you can do it." I knew he had the potential in him to do it, I could see it in his eyes. He was a powerful Pokemon, he just needed to tap into that power. After all the tutoring was done, I shifted my focus onto Taillow. Whatever the hell he was doing I had no idea. He was saying something to all my Pokemon and now they were all looking at me. Arceus only knows what he was saying. Well, my Pokemon did, but that's besides the point. There seemed to be something going on here that I was unaware of. I crouched down to the little bird with a confused look on my face and spoke to him bluntly. "I'm sorry my friend, but I have no idea what you're trying to tell me. Perhaps if you could give me some sort of clue or sign it would be helpful. Again, I apologize, but I don't really understand the language of Pokemon." Hopefully he would be understanding of my inability to comprehend the Pokemon language. |

I know you're out there somewhere...
|
You gave your commands to your Pokemon, but of course all of them were too busy listening to the Taillow to get what it was that you were saying, which I'm sure causes great frustration. It didn't matter anyways, because you heard a great rumbling coming from your right and you turned to see what it was and saw a Rhydon running right at you. Behind it was a Salamence, and it looked like it was charging up a Hyper Beam, which would probably not only hit the Rhydon, but probably blast it right into your small group. Taillow gave a great cry and flew up into the air as did Luc, although your other Pokemon didn't have any wings to get up into the air with. I'm sure you can picture in your head what happened next, and it's not a very pretty sight at all. The Hyper Beam was let loose, and the Rhydon was indeed thrown forward into all of your Pokemon except for Luc, whom could only watch in horror at what was happening. Just be grateful that you weren't caught in any of it yourself, as that could have gone very badly and may have ended with a trip to the hospital for you with a chance of being in a coma or something. You saw that the Rhydon was knocked out, and the Salamence looked at you and your Pokemon and gave a great huff before taking off into the air, though I can't imagine that was too easy. Personally I think that Salamence are too large to be able to carry themselves on their wings, yet somehow they do manage. Of course there are a lot of things with Nintendo and Pokemon that don't make sense but seem to work anyhow, although some people do forget that and try to make everything realistic. Because Pokemon is so realistic you know. Of course you had to recall all of your Pokemon, except Luc, whom you could continue training, or get to a Pokemon Center as soon as possible. Personally I would want to do that seeing as how you now only had Luc on ya that would be able to help defend you, should anything arise. But before you could even make the choice, Taillow started pecking at you and acting like he was angry at you. Then Luc came down and smacked him away and then pointed at him, looking at you. I think that Taillow is looking to battle you, and Luc seems to want to as well. What do you say? ![]() Level 8 41/41 100%

Well that was...unexpected. I mean, here I am training my Pokemon when suddenly the seemingly friendly Taillow who's been traveling with me for quite some time goes crazy and becomes hostile to me. Then, as I try to reason with him, a Rhydon and Salamence fight breaks right into my training session and knocks out all my Pokemon except Luc! This was one hell of a day. Luckily the attack missed me and Luc, but unfortunately everyone else was hit. I recalled them all and was about to call Luc and Taillow to go to the closest Pokemon Center, when suddenly Taillow attacks me! What the hell! I was friendly to him! I fought for him! Hell I comforted him when his mother died! And this is the thanks I get? Well, I'll have to capture him the old fashion way it seems. Luc was ready to battle as well. He would do anything to defend me and I would do the same for him. Well, this Taillow would see that we're a force to be reckoned with. Taillow holds the type advantage here, but we have the tactile edge. With both a Pokemon's natural instincts and a trainer's insight, we could defeat him with strategy and skill. I wouldn't let Taillow get a fast advantage, so I'd start out strong."Luc, use Double Team followed by Confuse Ray! He's more agile in the air than you, so watch out for his speed. If you see him going on the offensive try to avoid him and blast him with a Confuse Ray. Watch out for his Peck attack especially. If he attacks you before you get a chance to use Double Team then dodge and blast him with a close-range Confuse Ray. Remember to keep alert and agile above all else." Luc hovered in the air, staring down Taillow. He must know why the bird suddenly became hostile. Or maybe he's just trying to defend me from him. Either way we have a fight on our hands. I wonder if we can overcome the type advantage. If we can confuse him then I'm sure we'll be able to overcome it. If only I could figure out Taillow's motives, then maybe I can calm him down or even befriend him enough to capture him without battling. Unfortunately I don't understand the language of Pokemon. I guess I'll have to rely on my battling skills and tactics here. Hopefully I'll do a better job here than during the tournament. As the battle unfolded above me I looked around for any potential friendly Pokemon. Maybe there would be some around willing to help me. If there were any that looked hostile I'd stay away from them but if any looked friendly I might just call them over and ask for help. This was a big area, there must be some Pokemon around. I looked around, desperately searching for any Pokemon that might be friendly to me and help me. Maybe Taillow's loud cries attracted other Pokemon. If it did and they looked friendly (or if there were any friendly Pokemon in the area for any reason for that matter) I'd call them over and ask for their help. I won't count on it, but you never know, right? |
