Nagou Village is a lush green village with lots of... well, green! It's a great place to start a Pokemon journey, and there's plenty to do! Like the Nagou Manor, which is just up the road is due for some exploring. There's bound to be a spot where Pokemon gather in that gigantic place.

There's also the Nagou Gym, where you can earn your first badge. True, the people in there are rather skilled, but your Volbeat is unstoppable, right?! Maybe not right now, at this moment... but it hopefully will be one day! Next thing you know, you might be the walking out of the gym doors with a smile on your face and badge in your Trainer Card!

If the gym isn't what you're aiming for, how about exploring the Forest of Legends? Maybe it's a little tough, maybe it's not. The only way to find out is to explore it yourself. Remember, don't believe everything you hear-- your eyes never lie.

See? There's plenty to do here in Nagou Village! If you want to stock up on items and head to another town, there's a shop right here in the village. Nothing's stopping you from adventure!...

Except this here Slowpoke. It looks kinda' tough. Perhaps because it's so slow, you'll have the upper hand in battle. By working together with Volbeat, I know you'll dominate this guy!

:slowpoke :female Level 5

Do what you have to do, but have fun while doing it.

Matthew and Lucidus were sitting by one of the lakes in the forest. They were enjoying a peaceful rest when they heard a slowpoke emerging from the waters. It looked at the two of them and cocked its head to the side with a confused look on its face. Matthew thought it might be a good way to start his journey by testing out his new friend's skill in battle.

"Well, the first step to becoming a pokemon trainer is the first battle. Alright Lucidus, let's do this."

Matthew checked his poketch and looked at the attacks Lucidus could use.

"Alright, start with a blinding flash!"

Lucidus closed his eyes and after a moment his antennae began to glow. It started dim at first, but it grew in brightness, so much so that Matthew had to look away. The pulsating flash filled the area, illuminating the serene lake. Matthew wondered whether or not to capture the slowpoke. He decided against it. It just didn't feel right. Lucidus felt to him like a kindred soul more than a companion or partner. He just didn't feel that aura from the slowpoke.

It was a nice day wasn’t it? Just you and your pokemon sitting around, relaxing. Toes in the pond just watching the clouds go by. Until a Slowpoke slid out of the water. The problem with Slowpokes are that you never know what they’ll do. That might be because they usually don’t know what they are doing. So, when you ordered Lucidus to Flash the dimwit, you thought it just might be enough to scare her off.

With a blinding flash of light, you had to wait a moment or two before you could see again. You were a little surprised. The big pink Slowpoke still stared at the two of you. She blinked her big eyes and Yawned. There’s just something contagious about a Yawn. Now that you saw her do it, you wanted to do it too. Even Lucidus yawned!

Maybe it was the lazy day, but you felt like taking a nap. Who could focus on a battle now? Well, you better if you want to win!

(OOC- If you didn’t know, you are allowed to make two attacks each round. You are also allowed to make three attacks in one round, once per battle. Make sense? If not just ask for more clarification. -Mezmo)

OOC: Thanks for the info, it'll really help me

Matthew couldn't believe this dumb thing. She was just staring at him and Lucidus. He definitely wasn't what he was looking for in a pokemon. He decided to knock it out since scaring it with flash didn't seem to work. Besides, he needed to wrap this up quickly before Lucidus fell asleep.

"Alright Lucidus, focus deep within you for the strength you have within you, and release it as a tackle!"

Lucidus closed his eyes and began to concentrate, similar to when he created the flash, but this time he was sending all his energy into his legs and arms. He seemed incredibly focused as he rushed in for the tackle. Maybe it was the energy radiating form the lake, or maybe he wanted to prove himself to his trainer, Matthew didn't know. What he did know was that he and Lucidus would change each other's lives permanently. Lucidus was what Matthew had been searching for all these years.

In My Little White Room Again
Normally, anyone who even had the slightest amount of knowledge on Pokemon would know that the species “Slowpoke” were one of the slowest creatures that happened to inhabit this miraculous world –hence its name. Though keep in mind that in spite of this obvious disadvantage that there were numerous other more positive aspects to this creature: such as its tail which has the ability to undergo intense pain without affecting the possessor, as well as the creature’s natural abilities – which prevent this oblivious creature from becoming confused ( as if it could) or infatuated.

Anyways, you and your Volbeat managed to stumble across one – the “Dopey Pokemon” forcing a lethargic sensation to travel throughout your partners internal circulatory systems, as well as you own. Nevertheless, you did try breaking away from this drowsy sentiment by commanding Lucidus to Focus within himself –summoning the energy that all creatures, big or small, had stashed away in the depths of the consciousness. He did so, even though he released another yawn right before, and then the moment the immense firefly-like creature opened his eyes he took off –smacking into your unhurried adversary with a thud. The Slowpoke was knocked back a ways, but as she regained her footing – you were able to notice that this creature seemed relatively unaffected. It still had the same expression plastered across its rosy face, its big eyes locked onto yours as if it was trying to stare deep into your soul. Hehe, which was quite eccentric because the look the creature had would indeed make even the resilient person feel that way, but anyways…

You managed to score a first hit in your little unheated, but a skirmish is was nonetheless. Also your opponent failed to make his move this turn by wasting it on a daunting, yet unaffecting stare at you. So how will you cope with this sluggish pink blob who served as your opponent…especially since Lucidus is becoming even more dead beat.

Matthew noticed that Lucidus was getting a bit sleepier. After only a few moments he would be completely asleep. He needed to finish this battle quickly. That's when he noticed the tree with pink leaves growing over the slowpoke. On one of the branches of the tree was a hard looking fruit of some sort, perhaps a chesto berry. The branch was almost directly over the slowpoke's head. The tree itself looked a little weak and the perhaps-a-chesto-berry-but-maybe-not looked like it was about to fall off the branch, all it needed was a little push. Matthew decided to give it a shot. He leaned in close to Lucidus to whisper his commands in case the slowpoke was more than met the eye, which he highly doubted, but he didn't take any chances.

"Alright Lucidus, we need to wrap this up quickly. I want you to tackle the slowpoke, but only with enough force to move it directly beneath that branch. Yeah, that one with the berry. Okay, then, tackle the tree trunk with all your might so that the berry will fall on the slowpoke's head."

Lucidus looked somewhat uneasy about slamming full force into a tree trunk. He looked up at Matthew with worried eyes.

"If you're worried about injuring yourself on the tree then try and focus your energy into your defense."

Lucidus nodded and began focusing the energy within him to build his defenses. Matthew could see that he desperately wanted to impress him. To Matthew, there was no need to make an impression. The bind between the two wouldn't be broken due to the outcome of a battle. But he was proud of the little guy for wanting to impress him.

Lucidus did exactly as it was told. Ramming into the tree was a genius idea, causing said berry to fall on Slowpoke...

...too bad it yawned again, landing in her mouth. In fell the berry into Slowpoke's gaping mouth, allowing it a quick snack. Revalitized, Slowpoke began to slowly waddle its way over to Lucidus, who was now sleeping soundly under the tree.

Slowpoke noticed that her foe was asleep. This didn't really do much, considering Slowpoke is, well, slow. Upon seeing her foe, Slowpoke began to judge whether to attack with Water Gun or Confusion.

In the end, Lucidus was hit with a Water Gun attack. Maybe the water is freezing cold and will wake Lucidus up? Well, that's not the case now.

Matthew could tell he seriously underestimated this slowpoke. She had been able to read Lucidus's every move and had yawned at the perfect moment! She was some kind of genius slowpoke! That or really dumb and really lucky. But it didn't matter. Matthew had seen enough. Whether it was through intelligence, skill, or plain luck, this slowpoke had been able to take a few hits and actually benefit from one of her foe's attacks. Through it all she had also been able to put Lucidus to sleep. MAtthew could now see the hidden potential of this pokemon that was, well, hidden before. The only problem was getting her to join him. He reached into his bag and took out a pokeball. He decided that she wasn't injured enough to join him through capture, but maybe he would be able to befriend her. He hoped she would be either forgiving enough or stupid enough to join him after attacking her. Matthew walked up to the slowpoke, stopping a few feet short of her and placed his pokeball on the ground.

"Hey there. I know we got off to a rough start, what with me attacking you and all, but I really think we could be good friends. What do you say?"

As if to sweeten the deal and possibly bribe the slowpoke, Matthew reached up and grabbed a berry from the tree and offered it along with the pokeball. He hoped that he'd be able to convince this slowpoke to join him.

{I don't know why the other mods missed this. You Godmodded a lot in the other Posts. Not in anyone individual, but as I read I noticed you doing things that were in a way helpful to you. First was a placement Godmod. You are in a village not the Forest. If you intended to move to the forest then ask someone to move you first. The Second was Spawning a Berry Tree with a Chesto Berry. I know Trees would be common in Noguo, but I don't think you'd find a berry tree that would assist you with your current predicament. I will be asking some higher Moderators to watch this thread for a while and will continue to monitor this as well.}

So from a losing battle to enticing the Pokemon to join. Your wants are as fickle as you are starting to look. The berry you tried to offer the Slowpoke turned out to be a Pamtre Berry. Upon closer inspection it looked a little like a Chesto Berry, but was more slender then them. Slowpoke chomped the berry and though it looked like she was enjoying it, the Slowpoke soon spit out the berry's remains in disgust. She apparently did not like dry berries. Angered by your carelessness, she smacked the Pokeball back at your face. Then she started to glow an odd color. It seemed her body was getting more pumped. If you tried to identify the attack she used, it was Curse. She now was stronger in attack and defense.

Slowpoke returned to your Volbeat and continued the battle as if you hadn't even tried to stop it. With a wave of her tail, she brought it down hard on the slumbering Volbeat and then started to walk away satisfied that there was nothing left to do here as Volbeat was still asleep and currently unable to fight. Better think of something fast as this may be your last chance before the Slowpoke leaves your area.

Things were starting to look bleak for Matthew. It pained him to see Lucidus in pain, even if he was sleeping through it. He didn't have much hope to wake soon if he had slept through a water gun attack and being whacked by a tail. Matthew was ready to grab Lucidus and run to the nearest Pokemon Centre. Then he remembered the other pokemon he had. It was given to him by his father right before he left.

Matthew had said goodbye to his father and was on his way to leave. He was at the door when his father called to him.

"Son, wait." He rushed over to his son and handed him a pokeball. Both Matthew and Lucidus looked at it quizzically. As if to read his mind, Matthew's father spoke in a soft quivering voice.

"She belonged to your mother. Well, no, that's not true. Matthew, you know that you are not my child, nor are you my wife's. You emerged from the forest the day after she disappeared in it, and ever since then I have cared for you as if you were my own son. You were only a few years old at the time, yet you seemed world weary and aged. That probably accounts for your desire to leave this place and travel."

Matthew had heard all of this before. He had heard it many many times in his past. But he still didn't see how this connected to the pokeball. Again, his father read his thoughts and began speaking again. But not before giving a long sigh.

"What I never told you, was that when you emerged form the forest and showed up at my door, you were carrying a pokeball. This pokeball. I never looked inside it because, well, because it's yours."

Matthew was taken aback by this. How could that pokeball possibly have been his? He doesn't remember anything before he was taken in by the man he called his father.

"It came with a letter attached to it. I'll give it to you now. I never read it, because it was addressed to you. It was addressed to 'The Forest Child' and as far as I know you're the only child to ever have been born by the forest itself. I never thought of the proper tome to give it to you, but I suppose now is the only time I have left. I'll give you privacy to read it."

Matthew's father left him alone in the small room. He opened the envelope with the letter in it and began to read.

My dearest son,
I want to apologize so dearly to have kept this from you for so long, but it was for the best. By now I am dead and you are probably a growing young man. I wish I could see you right now. I cannot explain why I did what I did or even what happened. All I can tell you is to look in the forest, by the sacred lakes. The answer will come to you and you will be on your way to the next piece of the puzzle. In time you will understand, but for now you need to trust me.

The pokeball contains a Piplup. She is yours. I found her when I found you on the shore of the western lake. She will aid you on your journey. I'm sure the two of you will be great friends. I am so so sorry things turned out this way.

Your loving mother,
Malkah

Matthew read the letter over and over again. He finally opened the pokeball and, like his mother said, a piplup was inside. She stood on the floor and stretched out, restless from being asleep inside the pokeball for all those years. She looked up at Matthew with big eyes full of curiosity and adventure. He reached down and stroked her head.

"What do you want to name her?"

Matthew hadn't noticed his father entering the room again. Matthew thought about the question, but found the answer almost immediately.

"Malkah."

Matthew reached down and grasped the pokeball at his waist and opened it up. Malkah was released in a stream of red light. She opened her eyes and instantly recognized the place as her birthplace and the place that she found a young Matthew. She looked at the slowpoke then to the sleeping Lucidus, understanding quickly what was going on.

"Malkah, I know I don't know you very well, but I need you to cooperate with me."

Malkah nodded her head as if she understood perfectly what Matthew was trying to say. He could see that she would be a valued friend and ally. Matthew smiled and began to give her orders.

"Alright, we need to show this slowpoke who's boss. Lucidus over there didn't have much luck with her, and she doesn't seem to want to join us. We need to knock her out before she hurts Lucidus any more. Start off with a growl to normalize her attack strength then go in for a pound!"

Malkah nodded in comprehension of her commands. She turned to the slowpoke who just sat there and stared blankly at the two of them. Malkah focused for a minute within herself to find that primal instinct that all pokemon have within them. Matthew hoped that she would be able to finish the fight and save Lucidus from further harm. After this all ended one way or another, Matthew would need to investigate this place to see if he could find the next clue his mother mentioned in her letter.

Well, Malkah was a cute little creature. And she certainly seemed willing! How powerful she acutally was, we would have to see. She released an adorable little Growl, her cute little penguiny face scrunching up before she emmited an odd, squawking sort of sound. This made the slowpoke pause, and forget her train of thought. Which wasn't especially difficult, but it did make her lose her focus and drop the attack bonus.

Luckily for Lucidius, the Slowpoke couldn't focus on more than one target at a time. She'd been charging up another Water Gun, and as she turned her head to look at her newest opponent, the burst of water hit mostly grass, then splashed onto Malkah.

Of course, being a Piplup, this didn't make much of a dent in her HP. In fact, she seemed more amused than injured, and flung herself joyfully forward into a Tackle. Hmm. She was a willing Pokemon, sure, but she seemed the type to think everything was a game. You'd have to be careful, since she would probably not take many things seriously. Still, the Tackle did some solid damage to the Slowpoke, who naturally didn't even think about moving out of the way.

In other news, Lucidus slumbers on...

While her squawk wasn't exactly primal, it did the job and so did her playful pound. The slowpoke would be attacking at normal strength and her speed would be lowered due to the curse she put upon herself. However, her defense was still higher than normal, and even if Malkah could use a leer attack, Matthew doubted that it would be able to intimidate the oblivious slowpoke enough to reduce her defense to normal level. The flash that Lucidus gave off early in the battle still had some accuracy lowering effect on her, so that was also a plus. All Matthew could do was keep Malkah tackling until Lucidus woke up.

"Nice job, Malkah! Now her attack his back to what it was before! But, her defense is still heightened, so we need to compensate for that. I want you to focus within you for extra strength. Then go in for a devastating pound right to her head!"

Malkah nodded and closed her eyes. Matthew couldn't help but laugh a bit under his breath at the sight of a cute little piplup tensing up her muscles and quivering with extra energy. It was absolutely adorable. The slowpoke still stared blankly at the two of them, probably forgetting Lucidus entirely. The pokemon was dumb, but he had to hand it to her, she could really take a hit. Matthew realized that he had left the pokeball he tried to use to capture the slowpoke earlier on the ground. He walked over and picked it up, putting it back in his bag.

Argh…if Lucidus would finally wake up you’d be able to easily take down Slowpoke. Alas, he slumbered on. Malkah was a bit…overenthusiastic, but you might be able to use that to your advantage. How? I have no clue. At any rate, Slowpoke followed its name very well. Even if there was a spark of intelligence behind those vacant eyes, it moved very slowly. Maybe you stood a decent chance of winning, even without any further help from Lucidus.

Wanting to do as you asked, Malkah closed her eyes and tried really hard to Focus. It wasn’t easy for her, being such a happy and hyper little penguin, but after a minute she got the hang of it. With her Focus, she trained her muscles, readying them for a hard Pounding. Yeah, she looked silly, but with her Focus she managed to successfully raise her Attack a bit. That extra defense wasn’t going to help Slowpoke now!

Malkah cracked her eyes open, just enough to see where she was going. The less she saw to distract her and break her Focus, the better. It had been hard enough getting her mind Focused, now she wanted to keep it that way long enough to attack. Keeping the Focus as best she could, Malkah ran over to Slowpoke, raised her-uh-arm/wing, and slammed it down on Slowpoke’s head. A lovely Pound attack!

Slowpoke’s answer to this attack? Well, first all it did was stand there. Then it said “Sllllloooowwwpoke,” sounding totally unfazed by the attack. The next thing Malkah knew, she was sent flying through the air. Slowpoke couldn’t move fast, but since Malkah had been so close to it the Tackle it used slammed her before she could so much as blink. Upon impact with the ground she bounced herself onto her feet-only to get a blast of water in her face from Slowpoke’s Water Gun attack. Slowpoke’s eyes were finally recovering from Lucidus’s Flash. Thankfully, she had yet to turn her attention to Lucidus. Hopefully he woke up soon…

Matthew cringed as he saw Malkah being thrown into the air and falling hard to the ground, but he was happy she was okay. Lucidus, while still relatively unharmed, was sleeping deeply up against the tree. The slowpoke was still just sitting there. He couldn't tell whether she was angry or not. Hell, he couldn't even tell if she knew where she was! Matthew thought about what he could do in this situation, and all that came to mind was just beating on the slowpoke until either she fainted or Lucidus woke up.

"Malkah, you're doing great! Now, rush in there and give her two swift pounds, right to the same spot as before!"

Malkah seemed a bit disappointed with these simple commands. She was a little bundle of joy, she was. She was just waiting to release all her boundless energy. Well, once their journey got started she and Lucidus would have lots of time to play. With any luck they would find more friends along the way.

A battle against a Slowpoke should take that long should it? Then again, this was one amazing Slowpoke, and a smart one too! But all in all, it should be over in maybe the next round if everything goes right. And if anytying, Lucidus might be up by the end of this. But all that would be determined later. As of right now, we have a battle to do.

Anyway, Malkah charged at the Slowpoke and got ready to use Pound. She wasn't the only one that was getting ready for an attack though. Slowpoke was getting ready to use Tackle. If those two attacks meet, both Pokemon would be serverly hurt. But of course, that's what happened. Both Pokemon were sent away from each after the collision and it made so much noise that Lucidus woke up. But I guess that isn't a bad thing. Malkah quickly charged back at the Slowpoke and used another Pound. This one hit head on and the Slowpoke didn't know it was hit until your Pokemon was back by you. The Slowpoke didn't like this one bit and unleased a Yawn at the Piplup. The attack hit and Piplup was sure to be asleep in a few rounds. Looks like you should wrap this up before something bad happens. Good luck!
