Phasing Flashback Defender Vigilance

Pokemon Species: Abra Nickname: Prometheus Age: 11 Gender: Male Differences: A flame-shaped spot on his right palm is slightly darker than the rest of him. This is because he burned himself as a youngster while trying to master Fire Punch. The dark spot is the resulting scar. History: “But, father, why must I be the one to leave?” ”Prometheus, you know that among my sons, you are the most developed in your skills. You carry the mark of Prometheus, the firemark, whom you are named after.” His fathers words carried feelings of pride and the essence of strength with them. “Yes, but I do not see why I must be punished for it...” ”Now Prometheus”, came the young one's mother, ”It is no punishment, but an honor to appear before the Grand Ones in the unity ceremony. You will be representing our entire clan.” Prometheus could clearly feel the pride, but also a gentleness behind his mother's words. ”Do not worry my darling. You will do fine-” ”He will do more than fine”, interjected Prometheus's father ”As the bringer of fire he will also bring honor to the clan.” Defeated by his parent's praise for him and expectations of honor, Prometheus slumped down against a tree. He felt and heard his armor-like back clacked against the hard bark of the tree. His tail lay to one side. The he gazed around the little grotto-like parting of vegetation that had always been his home. The tall grasses that grew around him were interwoven to form a soft, but reliable wall. The tree cut through the tops of the grasses, where they were further interwoven to form a ceiling that had sheltered him for so long against even the harshest rains. A brilliant ray of afternoon sun shone through the hole that served as an entrance. He leaned further back against the tree. This was where he had spent much of his time napping and dreaming. This was where he felt at home. Like the homes of all his brethren, it had been specifically designed for him by his father, the very same father who was now asking him to leave it behind. His parents could feel Prometheus's sadness. His father stood thinking for a moment, stroking the long, feathery hairs that grew above his mouth. He was well aged, even for an Alakazam, and, as the head of the clan, had acquired much wisdom over his lifetime. His presence emanated with it. Prometheus's mother placed her hand upon his father's shoulder, her mind in tune with his. With a nod of understanding she disappeared. “Come, let me show you something”, he said, parting from his usual mindspeak. He outreached his hand towards Prometheus, who took it and soon felt himself being lifted into the air by his father's innerforce. His sight began to blur and he, with his father, vanished. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is it time? No. It is early yet. When? Soon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- His small home was replaced by the sight of a great expanse of green before him. His father had taken him to a hill overlooking a sea of grassland. A few lonely trees dotted the landscape and the faint buzz of Combees hunting for nectar could be heard. Prometheus knew where he was. He had seen his father here, overseeing the land, many times before and had even been here several times himself when seeking his father. He turned to see his father standing next to a tower of stone slabs. The massive and well-worn stones, fifteen of them in all, were rectangular in shape. They were piled carefully on top of each other to a height several times Prometheus's own. They were of a slightly reddish hue and were covered in intricate carvings. The carvings near the top were the most worn. On top of the highest stone sat a small pedestal, which held up an even smaller object. “My son”, Prometheus's father said reassuringly,”do you know what this is?” “It...” He stuttered in response, “it is the history of our clan.” “Yes. It is the history of our clan. Each of these stones tells the story of every generations. From the first”, he motioned his hand toward the top of the stone tower, “to even myself.” Now he pointed to the lowest slab, which was not yet entirely filled with carvings. “And high atop...” he began once more, as the object that was sitting on the small pedestal began to float down towards him, “is the last artifact of the original bringer of fire, the symbol of our clan.” The object floated in front of Prometheus. He looked hesitantly at his father, who nodded reassuringly. Prometheus opened his hand and the object alighted onto his palms. The artifact was made of a material that Prometheus had never encountered before. It glistened red in the sun, like fire, but was cool to the touch. It was long, flat and rounded at both ends. But, one end was very much wider than the other and had a distinguishing concavity to it. Prometheus looked into it and saw his image reflected upside down. When he held the artifact, he could feel his innerstrength flow through it naturally, almost like it was making him stronger. But he also felt something more, almost like... a presence... “Long ago...” began Prometheus's father, “Before you or I. Before even the Grand Ones, our people were but one clan. We lived here peacefully and joyfully as a part of the land and its many creatures. But, another people, who were their own tribe, grew jealous of our plenty. They began to steal from us in the darkness of the night. When they could no longer satiate their hunger with what they could steal discretely, they turned to war...” “But father, why our people not defeat them with our innerstrength?”, Prometheus cut in. “...Our people knew not of innerstrength...” “How did they defend themselves?” “...First we tried with our strength. For you see, our people's bodies were also much stronger then. But, we were no match for them and fled. There were but few of us left and hope seemed dead. But then the they came: Olimpio brought ice and honor; Orion brought light and hope; Prometheus brought fire and courage; And Gideon taught us the power of the artifact and showed us the strength we could find within ourselves. We united under these heroes and drove our enemies from the lands. The few that remained scattered to the winds...” He paused before continuing. “...My son, do not worry. The same fire that flowed through Prometheus flows within you, just as it flows within me. The firemark is proof of this.” Prometheus's father lifted his hand and showed his palm. Near the center was a dark spot, a scar in the shape of a flame. Prometheus looked at his own palm, at a similar scar. “Father...” Prometheus started. His father looked at him attentively. “Father... I... I will bring honor to our clan.... and... to you.” “You have, my son. You have...” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now? It is early still. Are you sure he'll get it right? Yes. Why do we have to wait? That is the way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ulysses lifted himself up onto the stone platform. It left him standing about three feet higher than the crowd that he now faced. Every observer could tell that it had been a trial of sheer willpower and innerstrength. The Grand One's pale, brittle body stood before the audience. His long mustache brushed along the ground. The remaining Grand Ones had already done their part. They were seated on the grass in front of the platform and were watching their comrade with the rest of the audience. ”Yes.” He began. Despite the appearance of his body, the old one's mindspeak was as clear and healthy as any Alakazam half his age. ” We are here to celebrate and remember the defeat of the Lost Ones from our lands. We are here to remember how we united under the four heroes of our past. But, though we come from the past, let us not forget that we also go into the future. Let us welcome the new generation!” Ulysses motioned toward the four Abras standing behind him. Prometheus's head panged as the cheering, both aloud and in mindspeak, erupted from the crowd. He and the three other Abras were lined up side-by-side. Prometheus was on the far end. Next to him, was an Abra by the name of Aatos. Prometheus had met Aatos before the ceremony actually started. He was the bringer of light. He had many small scars on his left arm that were proof that he had mastered the use of light. Next to him was the bringer of ice. She was scarred only at the tips of her fingers. The one closest to Ulysses was the bringer of innerstrength. He had a small, perfectly round scar on the top of his head. They were each of the four different clans. Prometheus was nervous being in front of everyone. Despite being next to the three other Abras, he felt completely alone. ”Just as the original four came, lived among us, and passed on their strengths to the next generation, we have passed on our strengths to another generation. Now let us see what they have learned: And so, the the trials!” Another loud cheer. Prometheus shifted nervously where he stood. ”Do not worry.” It was Aatos. ”I have heard that an elder stays with us so that we do not get hurt” Despite Aatos's words, Prometheus did not feel reassured. He was not worried about getting hurt. He was worried about what would happen if he failed. He would be failing his entire clan, and worst of all, his father. ”Bringer of innerstrength! Stand before me!” The Abra stepped forward and stood in front of Ulysses. ”Go forth!”. At these words the Abra disappeared. ”Bringer of ice! Stand before me!” She did as the first Abra and was soon teleported away to her destination. ”Bringer of light! Stand before me!” ”Go forth!” Now it was Prometheus's turn. ”Bringer of fire! Stand before me!” He felt his heart drop as he approached Ulysses. His steps felt heavy, though he was using innerstrength. When he stopped in front of the Grand One, he felt him begin to lift him up using innerstrength. ”Go...”The old one stopped. Suddenly, his eyes began to glow and shimmer a brilliant red light. He spoke once more in mindspeak, but a voice not of his own, a more powerful voice, spoke with him. ”Bringer of fire!” Came both voices at once. ”Bringer of courage! Have ye courage for the trials that lie ahead. Go forth!” Dumbfounded, Prometheus was lifted into the air. He felt the energy that was lifting him was much more powerful than even Ulysses. It emanated strength. He felt the power course through him as it began to teleport him away. But the power was not all that he felt. He also felt... ...a presence. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is it time yet? It is time. Really? Yes. Are you sure? Because- Go! Alright, alright... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Darkness. All around, darkness. Slowly, a pale glow began to fill the void. Prometheus was standing in a large pool of what appeared to be water. He looked all around, but couldn't see where it ended. He could only see a few feet in front of him and the black water seemed to merge with the darkness beyond the light. He could not tell where the light came from. “Psst... hey... Psssst...” Prometheus looked down to where the voice was coming from. He jumped back, startled. Is... is the water smiling at me? He looked again, but all he saw was normal water. “Hey” Now it was behind him. He turned quickly, trying to get a glimpse of whoever was speaking. “Psst... down here...” He looked down at the water again. “Boo!” “Aaagh!” He leaped back this time. “Haha! Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you that much!” Said the water. “Water... speaking?” Prometheus stuttered, dumfounded. “Oh, no silly! Water doesn't talk!” At this, the face floated out of the water and revealed that it was attached to a Gengar. However, unlike normal Gengars, this one was a solid black color. “See! Now, c'mon. Follow me.” “What?”, questioned Prometheus. “I said follow me”. It's voice was not pleasant to hear. “Why?” “Okay, suit yourself. Stay here.” It began to float away. “Wait! Who are you? What are you? Where am I?” “That's complicated. Sheesh, you're full of questions. Are you coming or what?” “O... okay.”, Prometheus said, finally giving in. He didn't want to be left alone in this strange place. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Haha! I told you he'd get it wrong!” ”Silence!” “sorry...” The Gengar had taken Prometheus someplace that felt miles away. Yet, he was still walking in the same shallow water in which he had begun. Now, though, a thick film of fog was covering the water. Before him stood what he could only describe as a great beast. It had many legs, which, like great trunks, stood firm to the ground. It's powerful back extended into a long and thick neck that supported a massive head and two large wings. It's voice seemed to come from everywhere. When it spoke, Prometheus heard it, not only in his mind and in the air, but someplace deeper. ”Go! Attend to that which I have bidden.” “Okay, okay, I'm going.” The Gengar sped off into the abyss of darkness. Prometheus was tired of the Gengar's antics. He was tired of walking and tired of not knowing where he was. ”Be still young one.” Did it sense how I was feeling?, thought Prometheus. ”There are many things you have yet to understand. You are far from home, in a place apart from all that you know. Many powers worked bring you here. Yet, this is but a momentary pause in your journey. I am but the next to send you on.” “What? Send me on my way? But, I do not want to-” ”That is the way!” The very air seemed to shake. “Where will you send me?” “It is a place spoken of as Alternia in some tongues. Destiny has much in store for you there. You must have courage.” “C... courage?” Prometheus stuttered. Yes. Have you not the courage little one? “Maybe not...” I sense that you have more than you know. Now go! “I still...” But it was too late. Soon, everything around him had disappeared. He felt like he was being ripped apart from something, from the place that he belonged. He had been told of his destiny. But what did destiny have in store for him? Could the beast have been telling the truth? What was that strange place? What had happened to Ulysses? All this was on his mind as he was swept away to Alternia. Personality: Though no newborn, Prometheus is still young. He is curious, but not overly so. Somewhat timid, Prometheus is a thinker. He is aware of others' expectations and doesn't always feel up to them. In fact, his greatest fear is not being able to live up to these expectations. Despite this, he is adept at using teleport and relatively good at his Fire Punch. Egg Move: Fire Punch Known Attacks: Teleport Fire Punch Starting Area: Route 5 Edited by Solomon, Feb 21 2009, 10:29 PM.

You have sent away your application, I see... so I won't create your profile yet. But I WILL strike Gastly from the list, because this looks fine, and because of the whole trade with Ridley.
