This peaceful, quiet village is where you're going to start, eh? Looking for you sister in this wide, unforgiving world of pain and suffering. You stood near the Pokemon Center, looking this way and that and trying to find something that would give you a clue in the right direction. There wasn't much going on right now as the whole town was mostly filled with retired old folk content to sit on their porches and tell stories of impossible feats. One was actually rambling on on how he accomplished going to school in the snow, barefoot, uphill both ways, for six miles. Of course, he probably only lived a mile from school and this section didn't get snow that often...did it? Back to the present though, you sighed as you tried to figure out what you could do to start your quest. Tia could be of some help or you could attempt going door to door to see if anyone had seen her. Or you could head into the center and ask the nurse. She probably knew most of the people here. And then the entire place seemed to come alive. An ambulance screeched around the corner and slammed to a stop beside the center. A couple of guys lifted out a stretcher with what looked like Doduo sprawled on it. It was missing several feathers from its entire body and looked like it had fought with a flamethrower and lost badly. A girl, about 15, raced after them into the center, sobbing loudly. Well, that was weird. You could go see what's up and stay away from where the Doduo came from or start your search somewhere not as chaotic. |

Cole looked with joy upon the small feline Pokémon as she took heartily to the applied Potion. Amazement washed over his face as the Velix almost became a new Pokémon from the one that had limped over to him mere moments prior. Its coat took on a new sheen, one that almost shined, and the small Pokémon yipped joyfully at Cole. Velix took immediately to Cole and the two members of his team that currently joined him outside of their Pokeballs, socializing and sniffing quite profusely. There was a mutual liking evident as Kain, Tia, and Cole himself all were smitten quite quickly with the feline. Cole was soon struck by the realization that, despite the fun he was having, this Velix still had an original trainer. He wrestled with the possibility of simply taking the Pokémon and walking away, but the young trainer simply couldn’t bring himself to do so without first trying to find Velix’s owner. So, with a look of disappointment evident upon his face, Cole bent down to the level of his two Pokémon and their new friend. The three were playing very happily but the look on Cole’s face brought an abrupt stop to the gaiety. “Hey girl I’m real glad you’re feeling better, but there’s something we have to find out first. I’d love to take you with us on our journey, but if you already have a trainer we’re gonna have to take you back. I’m sorry but can I see your collar for a sec?” Cole gently presented his short speech as he looked softly into the cute little eyes of Velix. He then reached out gingerly, with what he took as a disheartened nod of approval from Velix, and took the tag of the collar in between his pointer finger and thumb. Cole rubbed a small smudge off of the lettering and began to read. |

Velix squirmed a little when you bent over to get a good look at her collar. She pawed at it anxiously, but didn’t seem too eager to let you have a glance, much less a look at it. In the end, she gingerly gave a half-hearted nod and let you read what was on her collar with a look of distaste. Clearly, whatever memories that came with the collar was unwanted for the little vixen. As her round, beady eyes stared straight into you (and your soul), you hastily made a mental note to memorize what was etched on the tag. The collar was definitely a good piece of handiwork as your fingers brushed off some dirt from the metal; it should be apparent that the Velix, despite her lack of rarity, was definitely well-loved – from where she originally came or escaped from, of course. Krieg Tia shot Kain a worried glance. If the collar was any indication … it might mean a Trainer was bound to jump and apprehend you all for (un)intentional Pokémon stealing. The Sentret tugged at your trousers’ corner, her gaze concerned, but bordering on being upset. Something was definitely distressing your Pokémon partner over there. Kain seemed to be on guard, gradually inching towards you despite his apparent courage displayed on his mug. Luckily, nothing emerged from the bushes save for a small breeze running through the vicinity. After a little while of fingering about with her collar, Krieg decided that she had had enough and stepped back to circle Tia. She had taken a liking to your Pokémon, at any rate … which was probably a good sign if you had to, um, travel a little to get to your intended destination. There was nothing off about the whole scene, actually. In fact, if you wished to rest for an instance more before setting off for wherever you wanted, you could! Anyway, there was nothing happening at all. Seems like you could claim Krieg as your own; finally. x1 Velix added to profile. Congratulations on your newest team member! Cole looked quietly around the quiet grove, looking for what could be the trainer or owner of the newly dubbed Krieg. When it was apparent that the four of them were alone, the young trainer, Tia, Kain, and Krieg as well all seemed to relax a bit. A soothing breeze then passed through, further calming the nerves of the trainer and his Pokémon. Satisfied, Cole stood up and looked over his assembled team of three with a visage of pure content. He then spoke to the gathered three, “Alright guys, we’re gonna be movin’ out from here. You can stay out of your Pokeballs if you want, but I’m sure you must be tired so you should all probably rest.” The trainer’s Pokémon took in his every word with care and responded all in almost the same manner. Both Krieg and Tia ran around playfully, showing they were intent on staying outside of the portable homes for a little while longer. Kain on the other hand, simply stood in front Cole, facing outward with his arms crossed, and daring any intruder to approach the happy foursome. Seemingly satisfied with his POKéMONs’ responses, Cole was about to ship out when he remembered something very important. In response to this, he quickly marched over to where Tia and Krieg were playing joyfully and knelt down next to Krieg once more. “Hey girl,” he spoke softly, “if you’re going to be traveling outside of your ball, I’m gonna need to take this off of ya to avoid any problems.” With that and a nod of compliance from Krieg, removed the dirtied collar from her slim neck and stowed it in his back pocket. That concluded all of the business Cole had to take care of, so he then stood back up and gathered his troops. Once they all came together, Cole turned back towards where he had been headed hours ago and took the first step towards the rest of his adventure. Edited by Kyuubii, Sep 30 2009, 12:13 PM.

Congratulations on your newest pokemon, it could certainly come in handy one day. Anyway you've been through a lot and probably don't want to suddenly jump into anything huge...or do you? The breeze whispered gently as the bushes rustled softly. Brushing past your face the cool breeze from the night air certainly brought a very peaceful atmosphere to the Route you were travelling on. It certainly was quiet. Not a trainer in sight, no wild pokemon as of yet...although peaceful, it was also a little eerie. But still you wanted to continue on your chosen path so off you set towards Joukai Pass, a very large, barren land filled with powerful and rare pokemon. It wasn't a place for newbies, but hopefully you have enough experience to last a battle or two...hopefully. Continuing down Route 1 it became more apparent that no one else was around. Your pokemon began to grow more and more nervous. Tia brushed against your leg as she clung on for comfort. Suddenly though a shadow appeared against a nearby rocky wall. Looking towards it it seemed to disappear...maybe it was just a trick of the light. Anyway back to silence as you continued. The wind blew against your face once again, and as it blew past your ears you thought you heard a voice "Come to me." But wind can't talk, it's just your imagination playing tricks on you because of the eeriness of the area. And then to top it all off Tia let out a scream, looking forward a man dressed in black could be seen just further along the Route. He was clad in black and from behind him fog could be seen. The fog enveloped him and started creeping up towards and past you. Just great...do any of your pokemon know Defog? The fog seemed to have come from Joukai Pass which was only a few minutes away...at least you were getting close, but now you can hardly see. You could hear footsteps as someone walked slowly towards you. You could suddenly feel a powerful aura near you. A whisper in your ear could be heard as if someone was talking you, standing next to you. "I want to test your senses...Can you overcome a battle without the ability to see what it before you." The voice spoke as two pokeball releases rattled the surrounding area. It seems as though you have been challenged to battle, but with the fog so thick you can barely see...someone wants to challenge your senses? What reason do they have? Do you even accept this battle...it seems pretty one-sided. Opponent ??? ![]() Level 9 43/43 100%??? ![]() Level 10 45/45 100%(A thick fog surrounds the area, shrouding all pokemon from sight.) |

A chill raced its way down Cole's spine and physically shook his entire body as the whisper of the wind harshly tickled his ears. His eyes darted around frantically, looking hopelessly in an attempt to identify the mysterious figure or the unknown Pokemon the figure had apparently released. The eyes strained and strained, but to no avail. Cole was unable to make out who or what he was facing through the thick fog. A large lump formed in his throat and his heart began to race recklessly. Cole was terrified. Frozen in place, he saw no other alternative other than battle. The fog had seemingly encased the entire area at this point, and it almost seemed to originate from the stranger. Even if he did run, Cole highly doubted he would be able to get away from the strange man and his Pokemon. With this ultimatum reached, the rookie trainer forced his heart to slow and deliberately calmed his body down. He let out a long, drawn breath and relaxed all of his muscles, letting his body go temporarily limp. A few tense moments hung over head as the eerie silence continued to permeate the air. That is until, finally, Cole broke it. Suddenly, he snapped his head and gaze in the direction of the veiled stranger and spoke pointedly and clear, "Fine. Test me! I'll knock you and this fog right outta here!" His voice had taken on a lucid authoratativeness that was very out of character for the normally pleasant trainer, and cut its way through the fog. Cole followed up his harsh reply with a command to the Snubbull at his feet, "Alright Kain, you a Sigurd are gonna take this guy down. That okay?" The small pug Pokemon was thoroughly energized by the combination of Cole's conviction and the prospect of a battle and stepped up with a mirrored certainty. His eyes focused with fire on the fog before him, searching in vain for his opponents. As Cole looked upon his companion with a cool contentment, he reached for the Pokeball containing his Cubone, only to be stopped by a frantic clawing at his leg. When the young trainer looked down, he beheld, much to his surprise, Krieg looking back up into his eyes with a seriousness he had yet to find in the fox Pokemon. It seemed that the small Velix wanted to repay Cole for his recent rescue. Cole met Krieg with a nod of understanding and spoke, "So I take it that you wanna give this one a go? Alright then Krieg, let's see whatcha got." The Velix nodded and took a few steps forward until she stood right next to Kain, facing the battlefield just as her partner had, eyes scanning the thickening fog. Satisfied with his battle pair, Cole then began racking his brain for battle strategies. He stood in continued silence for a few moments until he finally found what he thought to be a rather solid plan. "Alright then," Cole began, "looks like he's not gonna start it so let's get going. I want both of you to use your noses and ears to find the other Pokemon, you don't have to close your eyes, just don't trust them. Kain I want you to start things off with a Fire Fang attack, and Krieg use your Bite! Try to focus on different opponents and keep your distance from one another for now, I don't want you hitting each other by mistake." His two companions nodded in understanding and coiled their legs like springs. Kain bared his teeth and Krieg's spikes stood straight out on end. With a final battle cry from Kain, the Snubbull and the Velix leapt forth into the fog... |

So you've accepted the battle thrown at you by a hooded challenger. How can you be so willing to battle someone you can't see? For all you know he could be a robber planning to mug you, or kill you? Or he could be a strange god of some sort, picking you to be his messier...yeah right. Anyway the stranger could be heard through the fog. His eerie, whispering voice seemed to echo around you. "Your eyes do nothing but see what they want to see, I want you to see the truth. Can you see?" He said, as a thunderbolt shot at your feet. He was attacking you? The shot didn't seem like it was aimed at your pokemon at all. Maybe he was also unable to see...it's possible. A strange sound could be heard, footsteps all around the battlefield. How many people/pokemon were here? It sounded like there was more than ten. They must all be lost. Hopefully they wouldn't disturb your battle. Snubbull ran forward, all the footsteps were putting him off, so he quickly chose one set and raced towards it. He could see a silhouette. His fangs blazed with fire and he quickly went to chomp on the figure he saw before him. The silhouette came into his focus. A pikachu. As he bit down on the pokemon, it seemed to disappear before him. An illusion? Kain decided to attack once more, following a different set of footprints this time. Again he attacked and again he was met with the illusion of a Pikachu. Kain barked at you, informing you that something wasn't right. Why were there illusions? How were they created? Did you know? Next up was Kreig. Kreig ran the opposite way towards Kain. She couldn't hear any footsteps and quickly got lost in the fog. She wandered around, sending out a cry to try and see if she could be found...she was becoming scared quickly. Suddenly a silhouette shot past. It made no sound, no footsteps. Was it flying? It snuck up behind Velix and licked her, causing her to turn round and Bite down hard. It was a Gastly. This was no illusion. It was the real thing. Hopefully it won't disappear. Cole brushed off the veiled stranger's verbal threats with an air of nonchalance and attempted to focus his attention solely on the battle. That is, until, a bolt of concentrated electricity struck the ground at his feet, splitting through the harsh fog and absolutely shattering his concentration. On top of this, Tia, who was still out of her Pokeball, gave a short shriek and leapt onto Cole's shoulders, absolutely terrified. Once he got over the initial shock, the young trainer took a moment or two to collect himself as the pitter-patter of footsteps echoed from within the fog. His mind raced around in circles in an attempt to cool his nerves in the face of such a threat, but the confusion and terror of the moment nearly overtook him. What the hell is going on here?! he thought frantically to himself. Attacking me in the dark fog was strange enough, but this is just ridiculous. I can't believe he launched an attack at me! How am I supposed to fight what I can't even see?! As this last thought rang out through Cole's harried mind, he heard the clamping of fangs and saw a flash of red-orange light. He recognized the auditory and visual combination immediatley as Kain's Fire Fang attack. This conclusion was immediately confirmed as well, because from what little Cole could see of the battlefield, Kain had just successfully clamped down on what seemed to be a Pikachu. The reveal of one of his opponents, presumably the one that had attacked Cole himself, was a welcome, yet miniscule relief in the current circumstances, and he was even further inspired by the fact that Kain's attack had made contact. Or had it? A distressed bark from the Snubbull seemed to indicate that things weren't going quite so well in the dense fog, something that moderately surprised Cole given the recent display. An illusion? Cole began to consider an explanation for the strange occurence, but was quickly cut off by a second yelp from the fog, this one in the direction of where Krieg had entered. The young Velix was obviously frightened by her surroundings and Cole couldn't blame her. However, as he strained to find her in the fog, Cole was able to make out what was definitely a successful attack attempt. She was apparently caught from behind by a gaseous mass of a Pokemon, probably a ghost type, but was able to successfully counterattack with her Bite, doing quite a good amount of damage. The first true success of this ill-conceived venture gave Cole a great confidence boost. Despite all that had happened, he seemed to be whittling slowly away at his mysterious opponent's advantage. Neither of his partners had taken any major damage from what he could tell, and Krieg had scored a major hit. The vague outline of a smirk began to creep its way back onto Cole's face as his mind cooled itself down and once again began the adruous task of concocting a battle strategy for such a difficult situation. Alright well from the sound of things, he thought, Krieg is starting to get pretty scared but she scored a pretty good hit. On the other hand, Kain is more frustrated than anything 'cause he can't seem to hit that Pikachu since it used Double Team or something like that. Kain is tough as nails, but I'm not sure if he can handle a Pokemon with such an advanced move all by himself, especially in this situation without any super-effective attacks. So I probably shouldn't have him rush into anything headfirst, even though I know he wants to, and it's probably the same with Krieg too. Ghost Pokemon are really tricky, and can be very powerful if I'm not careful. I'll just have both of them stay put for now..... Alright! I've got it! With what he believed to be a solid strategy, Cole's smirk grew into a full-fledged, cocky smile and he yelled out into the fog to his embattled companions. " "Alright guys I'm gonna need you both to keep your heads in there!" he began. "I know it's scary and I know it's frustrating, but if we're gonna win this you both hafta listen up and stay calm! Both of you just stay put where you are, don't go anywhere. I don't want either of you gettin each other by accident. Stay calm and wait for one of the opponents to come after you. If they do then as soon as they get close I want you to latch onto 'em and hit 'em with a double Bite attack. But if they go for a ranged attack instead dodge and follow it to the source for your attack!" (OOC: Just to clarify cause I know my attack description is a bit convoluted: The command is the same for both Pokemon, wait for the opponent to attack, then IF it's a PHYSICAL attack then latch on and Bite twice, IF it's a RANGED attack then dodge and follow the source for the Bite attacks. I'm not entirely sure but I think this counts as my three move combo.) (OOC Again: Just wonderin', under the description for Double Team it says the Pokemon makes 3-6 copies, but Pikachu made 10. This obviously makes sense if it used two double teams, but that would mean, along with the T-Bolt at Cole's feet, it would make that his three move combo.) |

(OOC - I suppose you are right. I didn't count it as a Three Move Combo since the attack wasn't during battle or aimed at a pokemon.) The fog seemed to be getting thicker but the battle itself seemed to be pretty one sided right now. Your pokemon seemed to have dealt a lot of damage to one of the pokemon. However the Pikachu remained hidden in the fog, whether or not it would reveal itself this round was unknown. Your orders set it was a tense atmosphere as you waited for the round to begin. It dawned on you that you could no longer hear your opponent, he normally had something to say before each round. However there seemed to be no hint of life past you and your pokemon. Still the battle was ready to get under way. Staying firm, both Kain and Kreig stayed put as they waited for an attack in an attempt to counter. After a few seconds you could a faint rustling noise that sounded like light footsteps running around the battlefield. After awhile they stopped, but no attack had been made. Maybe it was a wild pokemon trying to get through the fog. Anyway a scream echoed through the fog as Gastly attempted to scare Kreig. Following your orders Kreig latched on with another Bite, causing huge damage once again. Gastly managed to hit a Lick but it didn't do much. A final Bite spelt the end for Gastly. Unbelievable. That was almost too easy. This guy isn't as tough as he tries to make himself out to be. Pikachu hadn't attacked this round, and Kain decided he should attack anyway. Following the sounds he had heard earlier, Kain rushed and performed two Bite attacks, again hitting nothing but illusions. This one may take a little awhile. Anyway the round has finished and your opponent was one pokemon down. With two against one, it shouldn't take long to take down his final one, should it? Your Pokemon {Kain}Level 7 39/39 77%:velix {Kreig}Level 7 30/39 90%Opponent ![]() Level 9 0/43 86% ![]() Level 10 43/43 80%(Illusions 4/20 defeated) (Evasion + 2) (Three Move Combo Used Last Round) It seems that Pikachu is just creating illusions. Is this part of the test?...maybe there is another way to defeat her, unless you can defeat all the illusions. |

Cole looked on in anticipation, mindlessly petting Tia on his shoulder to calm her down while overtaxing his eyes in an attempt to cut through the ever-thickening fog that permeated the battlefield. He had high hopes for this round of attacks, and felt his current strategy was nearly flawless in keeping his pair of Pokemon in top shape. The young trainer was almost immediately proved correct as well, as the faint outline of Krieg began to seep through the fog and directly to his strained eyes. She was following commands to a tee, staying eerily still in anticipation of an opponent's inevitable attack. Said attack came in the form of the ghost Pokemon, Gastly, once again charging in at the feline Pokemon. Krieg showed wonderful reflexes however, and immediately met Gastly with two harsh Bite attacks in succession, the only hiccup coming in the form of another glancing Lick attack. Overall, she had performed beautifully, taking the Gastly out entirely. With a smirk and a silent cheer, Cole diverted his attention to the other side of the battlefield, where Kain was presumably carrying out the same commands. However, with the lack of a conclusive sound to confirm the Snubbull's actions, Cole's first impression was that the opposing Pikachu had chosen not to attack. As the trainer focused on the last place he had seen Kain in the fog, his suspicions were gradually confirmed. Kain was simply standing still, waiting for his opponent to make its move. When no such move came however, Kain lost patience and once again lunged into the fog, biting down onto two separate objects, neither of them the actual opponent. He had dispelled two more illusions, but since Pikachu had not attacked head on, it was a pretty good assumption that it had been creating more as Kain and Krieg waited for an attack. Cole's excitement that had come with the defeat of Gastly was almost instantly banished by Kain's failure. His faced screwed up in frustration, and he once again began contemplating a battle strategy in the silence. It's two against one here, but with all those illusions out there it seems more like two against one-hundred. Normally illusions like that wouldn't be so big a deal, but with the fog and everything they're even more effective. I can't have Krieg and Kain just randomly attack anything either, or they'll just run out of energy or end up hitting eachother. Unless... That's it! If Krieg and Kain can distinguish between friend and foe easier, they can attack at will! Alright now... The young trainer trailed off in thought to finalize his plan, and once he had finished, he verbalized exactly what he had just planned. "Alright guys great job so far," he started, "just keep pluggin' and we'll finish this guy off. For this next part though, you're both gonna have to move quickly and with precision so listen closely. I want you both to use your unique cries to find eachother in the fog. Call out to eachother and run in the direction of the other voice. Once you two find one another your going to have to move even faster to avoid getting caught in one big attack. From there, turn back to back and go out in opposite directions, Biting anything you see. Be careful, and I can't stress this enough, not to double back or circle around. We can't risk you hitting eachother. You got it?" With what he assumed was understanding cries from both of his Pokemon, Cole looked on, straining his eyes as usual. However, before he could see if his strategy had worked, he heard a faint beeping noise coming from his wrist. With a glance at the red Poketech resting there, the young trainer realized he had two unread notifications regarding exchanges. Although this was far from the ideal time, the lack of good vision in his current situation gave Cole an excuse to steal a few moments to deal with what was pending on his all-purpose device. The first offer was for the Technical Machine he had picked up a while ago, offering $600 and a pair of Ultraballs. It seemed quite fair, so he happily accepted. The second was an offer for Vesper his Silcoon. The other trainer had a few offers on the table but the one that piqued Cole's interest was his Chatot, a very interesting Pokemon. Although he felt a bit of regret letting Vesper go after what he had promised the hard-working cocoon, Cole felt confident that he would reach his goal of evolution with this new trainer and sent him off with a word of farewell. His secondary business finally taken care of, Cole turned his attention back to the battle at hand. |

So using cries to find each other. A cunning strategy. Lets see how the battle pans out. As always you could hear the footsteps around the battlefield which it was now obvious belonged to the Pikachu, creating illusions. How many of them were there now? Too many to count? Hopefully you'll be able to knock it down a peg. As your pokemon called to each other they began to move through the fog, moving to each others cries. As they called, it suddenly became very bright. Although it was still foggy, you could see bright yellow lights coming from every direction. The lights dipped and edged and seemed out of control. It didn't take a genius to figure it out. Pikachu was attacking! From every direction sparks flew past you. A million jolts of thunder echoed around the battlefield, meeting in the middle with a furious velocity that seemed to make the entire earth shake. Well in truth, only one Thundershock was real. The rest were copies that would do about...umm...zero damage. So nothing to worry about. The Thundershock did seem to connect with Kreig though, as the fox pokemon gave a yelp as the volts ran through his body. As Kain and Kreig finally found each other, they turned to face away and within seconds they darted in the opposite direction, fighting through the fog, dealing Bite after Bite as the illusions began to fade away. It was only a matter of time before the real Pikachu was found. This battle was beginning to come to an end. With a continued eagerness, Cole's eyes frantically scanned the fog, searching for evidence of his plan at work. Of course it was difficult to see through the haze, but he was becoming more and more accustomed to it. Thanks to their continued cries, Cole was able to find his Pokemon companions quite quickly and followed them closely as they quickly approached each other. Unfortunately, before they could reach one another they were very rudely interrupted by a very large and a very violent flash of light. Their opponent had launched a simple electric attack that had been multiplied, visually at least, by its several illusory copies. Although the majority of the bolts of electricity were nothing but images, the actual bolt struck true and ran quickly through Krieg, momentarily lighting her body up through the fog and elliciting a slight yelp. Cole gave a slight cringe at the sight of his partner in pain, but once he saw the wound would not be terribly effective, his body once again relaxed and observed. Despite the hiccup, Krieg and Kain reached each other at rather impressive speed. They then turned as instructed and set off in opposite directions in search of the Pikachu. From what Cole could discern from his limited vantage point, they managed to take out three illusions in succession with consecutive Bite attacks, and seemed to be ready for much more. Kain was still his overly energetic self in the midst of a battle and Krieg, despite being quite injured, was showing great resilience in the face of adversity. Both Pokemon had shown guts thus far in this unfair battle, and Cole had the utmost confidence that they could deliver in the end. So, the young trainer began mulling about his options as he always did, Alright, that was unfortunate what happened to Krieg, but everything else worked out pretty well. I've gotta watch out for her though, she's taken a few hits now and I'm not sure she can take too much more of that. So I guess I shouldn't send her head on towards that Pikachu... Then again, she's the only one who has a good idea of where it actually is... No risk no reward I suppose... Okay then, that sounds like my best bet. His battle plan all but formulated, Cole turned his attention backed towards the battle field and issued his commands. "Good job so far guys," he started, "but we're not gonna win this if we can't score any direct hits. So I still want both of you to stay to your respective sides, without circling around, but we're gonna change the attack strategy up a bit. Kain, for starters you really shouldn't change your attack style too much. I just want you to continue Tackling anything bright yellow that crosses your path. Krieg, your job here is gonna be a bit tough, but I know you can do it if you keep your head and stay alert. I really want you to concentrate here and figure out where that shock came from. I know there was a lot of lights and it seemed like hundreds of attacks, but there was really only one, and you felt that. Go with your feelings and go for the source. Run straight to the source of that attack and hit it with a pair of Bite attacks! Remember to stay aware though, we can't afford any stupid mistakes." Cole ended this round of commands with quite a different tone than he had with his previous commands. He knew that it was very risky sending Krieg right into the fire after the injuries that she had sustained, but it was probably the most effective strategy. Although Cole would never admit it out loud, he was a bit scared at the prospects of this round of attacks. The results were all up to fate... Or someone with a colorful name. |

Your two pokémon, though increasingly unnerved by their lack of ability to find the real Pikachu, gave their respective cries to let you know they understood. They would not give up just because of some mind trickery. Kain dropped to all fours, able to run faster and Tackle better, and began to charge towards anything yellow. Two more illusions dissipated as he attacked them, but, inevitably, he did not find the real Pikachu. Krieg was far more likely to succeed at that. Though hurt and a little afraid, the Velix tried to remember which direction she had been attacked from. It was hard, because of the distraction of the dozens of simultaneous, fake Thundershocks, but only one had hit - and she had a brainwave, as if another Thundershock had jolted her memory, and she turned about to charge away from you. She thought she knew where that Pikachu was, and as she ran (biting another illusion on the way) she was convinced that she could hear her opponent. The real Pikachu, afterall, would be the only one to make real sound, and her attempts were enthused as she drew closer. The Pikachu, though, with around two dozen illusions left at her disposal, wouldn't let it be that easy. Kreig was suddenly faced with no less than 6 Pikachus, all of whom stood in front of her, leering. She could not attack them all, and as each one's cheeks began to spark with electrical energy, she was filled with a dread. She knew that they would mostly be fake - but what if one was real? In desperation, she lunged at one of the illusions, and her jaws went through thin air; the next moment, the Thundershocks cut through the air. Sure enough, one was real. She cried out in pain, but was determined to recover fast - but too late. She was so close to the real Pikachu that she practically forgot the attack, and, remembering your orders, scampered in the direction she was convinced that Pikachu had gone. This round, though, something of interest would happen to you. A small sound caught your attention, quite distinct from the sounds of battle in the fog, and you looked up just to see something fall towards you. The fog parted slightly as it moved, and the small meteorite thumped hard into the ground a few yards from your feet, sinking slightly into the earthy ground with the impact. Rather than look hot from its journey through the atmosphere, however, the misty wisps which rose from it seemed to indicate that it was actually very cold. Simultaneously, your Pokétech, as if sensing the object's presence, beeped at you, showing you an advertisement. It said that, should you hand a meteorite - which looked suspiciously like the one a little way from you - to these people at the Meteoric Plains, you would be rewarded. Well, finders keepers, right? Cole's eyes were gradually becoming even more used to the thickening fog as the battle drew on. At this point, he had very little trouble seeing as the silhouettes of his two Pokemon rushed forth in a continued attack pattern. Kain was the first to move, running off on all fours towards two more illusory Pikachus, Tackling them both and forcing them both to dissipate into the fog. Although this was not the most gratuitous outcome that could have come from his attack, it was pretty much what Cole had expected to come from the dog Pokemon. Krieg, on the other hand, he was quite worried about. She was a rather delicate Pokemon to begin with, and the fact that she had taken the brunt of the attacks thus far was not too encouraging to say the least. Regardless, after a few moments of hesitation and thought she too charged into the fog. Even through the fog, the small Velix was clearly frightened by the prospect of charging right into enemy territory, but she held a good amount of confidence in her new trainer and pressed on anyway. She let her instincts guide her through the fog, trusting her body to find the creature that had harmed her. However, from what Cole had made out, Krieg stumble upon something much more than either of them had expected. The trainer's eyes strained as his Velix went even further into the fog, and could just barely make out her four-legged figure being surrounded by half a dozen other figures. Krieg had run right into the lion's den. In anticipation, she lunged out at one of the Pikachus, unfortunately an illusion. She was then struck by a second electric shock from the mouse Pokemon as the entire fog lit up a bright yellow color. If Cole was not mistaken however, the light was a bit dimmer than the last time, apparently meaning the Pikachu had not created any more copies in the fog. A small relief in the tumult of the current situation. After another failed attempt of finding their final opponent through the fog, Cole's emotions were starting to boil. He was not the most patient person in the world, and these circumstances were really starting to agitate him. As a matter of fact, the agitation had nearly gotten to the young trainer and he was about to let loose some ill-conceived, emotion driven commands. That is, until something shot through his concentration and the foggy battlefield like a bullet and landed in a misty heap at his feet. Immediately intrigued, Cole took a few seconds to observe what had just fallen from the sky to his feet. It seemed to be a black rock, no bigger than Cole's head, pulsating red with wisps of mist rising slowly from it. As if on cue, the trainer's Poketech began beeping relentlessy with an Alternian-wide message regarding what now lay smoldering at his feet. It seemed that the island had just experienced a meteor storm of sorts and several more rocks such as this had fallen, along with this one, to the Alternian mainland and its surrounding islands. From the look of things, Cole was actually quite fortunate to have happened upon one of these meteorites as well, because some scientists in the Meteoric Plains were offering some kind of reward for these meteorites. With a grin, Cole then took his eyes of his Poketech and looked to Tia on his shoulder. He gave her a nod as if to say, "Can you get that for me?" and the Sentret happily obliged. She scampered down from her partner's shoulders and quickly reached the ground via his back. Then, with a bit of effort, Tia lifted the rock with her two paws and placed it into Cole's bag that he had put at his feet. Her task completed, the Scout Pokemon scurried back up onto Cole's shoulder and, along with her trainer, turned her attention to the battlefield in anticipation. Now that Cole's unexpected fortune was safely within the confines of his bag, he could once more focus on the troublesome Pikachu and her bag of tricks. He calmed his emotions with a few deep breaths and once again ran battle strategies through his troubled mind. This time around however, the rookie trainer did not see many ways around the predicament he had gotten his pair of Pokemon stuck in. After very little deliberation, he decided to keep up with the commands he had issued last time, despite their lack of success. "Alright guys," he began, "I know it's tough out there, but you both gotta just keep it going. Kain, just keep Tackling anything bright yellow that crosses your line of sight. Krieg, I know you're scared out there, but if you can pull this off, then we can finish all of this. Get after that Pikachu that attacked you. Get your revenge! Find the source of the attack, pin him to the ground, and Bite him hard!" It was evident by the end of his commands that Cole's latent frustration was not all pushed away, and a good amount of it had leaked to the forefront. The young trainer payed no attention to this however, because through this frustration his focus had sharpened. Cole was now more determined than ever to end this battle. |

It seemed as though this battle was going to take some time to complete. Pikachu still had so many illusions left and it was only going to create more. However you were fortunate enough to have had a meteorite crash land right where you were battling. The resultant crash caused even more dust and dirt to fill the air, making it even harder to see. Luckily you found a very handy item, but it only made seeing harder...hopefully the reward is worth it. Now then something was very strange about this meteorite. Clefairy fell from the moon and thats why we have Moon Stones. What could possibly result from this crash landing. Now then the meteorite seemed to react with your pokemon even though it looked like it was a very temporary effect that wouldn't last long. Maybe some exposure from the radioactivity the meteorite had let off as it crash landed was reacting with your pokemon's dna. Anyway they seemed to glow ever so slightly. Actually something was definitely strange. Both Kain and Kreig turned in the same direction and darted forward, delivering a series of attacks. Pikachu could be heard screaming in pain as each attack seemed to connect perfectly and deal critical damage. Pikachu dropped back, defeated. That was extremely lucky don't you think? Almost immediately after the Pikachu fainted, the fog and the dust began to swirl and soar before it pushed itself out past you, knocking you back slightly. With that it was gone and you could finally see the sky clearly again. Before you stood your opponent, coated head to to toe in back garbs, refusing to reveal his face. He simply clapped his hands four times before an Abra appeared and teleported him away, leaving the Pikachu's pokeball behind. It was yours if you wanted it. Now then you were free to continue what it was you were doing before this little inconvenience. Would you head to Kijitsu to show your meteorite? If so there'll be a heliport pad nearby to take you there if you want to look for it. As Cole watched the battle unfold before him, something entirely unexpected happened. Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, the silhouettes of Kain and Krieg began to glow a faint red color, mirroring the glow of the meteorite that Tia had just placed in Cole's bag. With this glow came an even stranger turn of events as well. As their bodies glowed from within the fog, both Kain and Krieg simultaneously turned towards the same location and immediately charged. The two of them, emanating the glow of meteoric radiation, slammed solidly into the same object with great force. Although it first appeared to Cole that they had run into each other, it gradually became clear that they had in fact both found the true opponent in the thick fog. The Snubbull and Velix had somehow both located the real Pikachu and thrashed her soundly. With the defeat of their final opponent, the fog faded quickly, revealing Kain and Krieg standing over the fallen body of the Pikachu with pride. Now that it was clear to Cole's partners that they were entirely successful, the two Pokemon began yelping with joy. They had overcome great odds and were victorious in their first double battle. That being said, there was still the mystery of the challenger, who now stood before Cole and his team as clear as day. Once the dust that had been blown into his eyes from the fog dissipating had been taken care of, Cole took a few moments to take in the true form of his opponent. Even without the fog it was difficult to make out the true form of the stranger, as he was clad head to toe in obscuring black garb. Cole did not have much time to make further observations either. After returning his mouse Pokemon to its ball and dropping said ball to the ground, he gave a few claps before disappearing completely via an Abra that had materialized and subsequently dematerialized at his feet. It took a few moments for Cole to process exactly what was happening, but after analyzing the situation, it was clear what had happened as a result of the battle. This man, who had come to "test" Cole in battle, was now rewarding him for his victory under the inclement circumstances. By leaving Cole his Pikachu, this stranger was apparently telling the trainer that he had passed the "test." Cole would happily accept the reward presented to him, and after a minute or two to collect himself and his thoughts, he headed over to receive his prize. He took a few long strides over and bent down to pick up the dirtied red and white Pokeball off of the ground. As he placed the ball into the bag he had slung over his shoulder, Kain and Krieg meandered slowly over to Cole and sat down on either side of him. The young trainer placed his hands on both of his partners' heads and rubbed them vigorously, showing them his satsifaction in their performance. Once he was finished with his praise, Cole returned the Snubbull and Velix to their balls for some well deserved rest after their hard fought battle. Finally, now that he had finished with all of his post-battle tasks, Cole stood up and gave a stretch. His body had gotten stiff after standing still and tense for so long. He then turned his head towards Tia, who still sat on his shoulder, and asked, "Well? Where to next?" While a few minutes ago it was clear to Cole that he should simply move right on to Joukai Pass and ultimately Millenia Town, now things had gotten a bit more complicated. The meteorite that had so rudely interrupted his battle and somehow resulted in his victory, changed things up a bit. According to Cole's Poketech, these meteorites had to be delivered to the Meteoric Plains right next to Kijutsu City in order for him to receive his prize. That would take him far and away from his original destination. Then again, Cole began thinking to himself, I only chose to head to Millenia in the first place because I wasn't sure if I could handle Kijutsu. Plus, I could always circle around to Millenia from Kijutsu, or even doubleback and head through Joukai Pass like I planned. So I guess I should just head to Kijutsu and the Meteoric Plains first. I really want to find out what this meteorite is all about... His mind made up, Cole looked once more at his Poketech and the description of the meteorites and the details surrounding the exchange. Everything seemed rather simple overall, and the people behind the exchange had even set up temporary helicopter pads to transport anyone to Kijutsu who was not in the immediate area. Therefore, Cole then set out in search of said helicopter pads to take him over to the big city. OOC: (So if you choose to have me happen upon the helicopter pad right away feel free to have me accept their invitation and take me straight to Kijutsu. Just to streamline the process.) |
