This peaceful, quiet village is where you're going to start, eh? Looking for you sister in this wide, unforgiving world of pain and suffering. You stood near the Pokemon Center, looking this way and that and trying to find something that would give you a clue in the right direction. There wasn't much going on right now as the whole town was mostly filled with retired old folk content to sit on their porches and tell stories of impossible feats. One was actually rambling on on how he accomplished going to school in the snow, barefoot, uphill both ways, for six miles. Of course, he probably only lived a mile from school and this section didn't get snow that often...did it?

Back to the present though, you sighed as you tried to figure out what you could do to start your quest. Tia could be of some help or you could attempt going door to door to see if anyone had seen her. Or you could head into the center and ask the nurse. She probably knew most of the people here.

And then the entire place seemed to come alive. An ambulance screeched around the corner and slammed to a stop beside the center. A couple of guys lifted out a stretcher with what looked like Doduo sprawled on it. It was missing several feathers from its entire body and looked like it had fought with a flamethrower and lost badly. A girl, about 15, raced after them into the center, sobbing loudly.

Well, that was weird. You could go see what's up and stay away from where the Doduo came from or start your search somewhere not as chaotic.
Silence is merely another language.

The cry before | The lull during | The silence after

Sigurd moved as quickly as he could and did a Belly Flop quick enough to hit the Aipom before he had time to react and when he did he just used another Scratch attack as a counter attack on your Cubone but in return Cubone's Bone Club hit the Aipom hard to do a good amount of damage. Mainly because he wanted to make them pay for attacking the poor Ledyba. Once his attacks where done with their damaged Sigurd moved to stand between the Ledyba and the Aipom awaiting your next orders. Sigurd wasn't sure what the look in your eyes meant since he hasn't known you for very long but he knew he will have to try to do what he can to make sure that the lady bug Pokemon will stay safe from more harm caused by the Aipom.

Ledyba looked between you and Cubone surprised to see another trainer but coming to her aid and not attacking her. She moved to get up and looked at you seeing that this here is bringing some memories back to you by just looking in your eyes. She then looked at the Cubone that defended her and saw the same look in his eyes. She looked at the Aipom and decided that she will help the best she could in this battle since you where willing to come to her aid. She used Supersonic so fast that since the Aipom was just watching Sigurd and not her Supersonic hit and caused him to become confuse. "Snap out of that confusion and use Astonish on that Pokemon," the trainer said snapping out of his surprise.

Aipom tried to use the attack but end up hitting himself with his tail due to his confusion which added more damaged to him after the other two attacks. Ledyba looked liked she was going to continue to try to help you out in this battle since you where willing to help her and protect her.

Cole was very surprised by the sudden involvement of the lady bug Pokemon, he hadn’t expected her to want to continue fighting. Despite this greatly appreciated help however, Cole wasn’t really sure what to do now that he was fighting alongside another Pokemon. This was yet another form of evidence of his inexperience as a Pokemon trainer. After contemplating his situation for a few quick moments, he had decided that he would simply allow the Ledyba to fight alongside him, but not giving her any specific commands since he wasn’t entirely sure how to treat her in this battle. After this was decided, he almost immediately decided upon a strategy for his partner.

“Alright Sigurd!” he called out viciously, obviously still furious about the situation in general, “Keep at ‘em! I want you to bull rush him and beat him down with your Bone Club.” Cole then turned to the Pokemon which he had just saved from attack, “Ledyba, I want you to just keep doing what you want, this isn’t your battle anymore, you don’t have to fight.” With the last part of his statement, the young trainer’s voice finally softened up after being so furious for so long. He had hoped the little bug Pokemon would stay with him, but he didn’t want her to fight anymore than was necessary due to her injury.

Sigurd looked from his trainer, to his opponent, to the Ledyba, and back to his opponent again. He now understood what was necessary and was prepared to carry out his commands without a second’s hesitation. An unending fire burning beneath his eyes, the Lonely Pokemon rushed forth with reckless abandon, his bone held forth.

Sigurd looked at you and nodded before he moved in with his bull rush charging at the confused Aipom. Once he was able to make contact with the monkey like Pokemon he lifted his small bone in his hand up in the air and slam it hard on the Aipom causing him to stagger back and skid across the field. He still had the look of confusion in his eyes as he tried to clear his head by shaking it. "Snap out of that confusion now Aipom and used Astonish on that Cubone," the trainer said. Aipom did try and got lucky this time because he was able to get a hit on Sigurd though it didn't do to much damaged. But before the trainer to feel triumph Aipom crash into his own tail again due to his confusion. He had more damaged done to him and he was getting tired but he was still able to battle.

Ledyba looked at you when she heard your voice soften towards her when you said that this was no longer her fight and that she didn't have to battle anymore. She was surprise to see that you where being so kind to her and at that moment she knew that she would probably join you after this. With you as her trainer she was sure that she will do better in battles then she did in this one especially if Sigurd was any indication of how you train. She turned to look at the Cubone as he awaited his next orders. She then turned to look at the Aipom and saw that he was soon losing his confusion. She got herself prepared to use another Supersonic if it would be needed. She felt the pain in her injured wing and knew that she couldn't push herself more then possible or she will do more damage to herself. She nodded at you to show she understood and then nodded at Sigurd and then at the Aipom coming out of his confusion. She then showed that she will be careful by just using Supersonic and not putting herself in anymore danger then need be. She also showed that she will jumped for Sigurd's aid if he needed it.

Cole looked on in satisfaction as Sigurd followed his orders to perfection, the only flaw coming in a quick Astonish attack which yielded very little damage. It had seemed that the Ledyba had taken his advice as well and fell back, although she seemingly still wanted to help out just in case. The young trainer was not planning on using any of this help however; he and Sigurd would take care of everything by themselves. They needed nothing; they asked for nothing, they were trainer and Pokemon in perfect harmony. They were an unstoppable force, and nothing but an immovable object would muster even the smallest resistance against their relentless assault.

At this point in battle, commands came to Cole naturally, and he automatically knew what move sequence he would ask Sigurd to perform next. He looked confidently at his single Pokemon and shouted, “Alright Sigurd, now Focus your attack power and attack with another Bone Club!” The Lonely Pokemon nodded and began to center himself, gathering his energy. He looked like a grand statue in the middle of a small field as he stood quietly amongst the current chaos of battle. He held the same confidence and vigor that was held by his companion and Sigurd was about to show it.

Sigurd’s trainer turned to the small lady bug Pokemon and flashed a small smile as if to reassure the Ledyba. Although he was burning with the passion of the moment, Cole’s priorities were still in order and his first priority was to protect the nearly defenseless Pokemon at all costs. No one deserved to suffer this much, and Cole knew this firsthand. If it were within his power, the trainer would go around and stop every instance of cruelty against the weak. However, as he was not that powerful at the moment, he would have to go one battle at a time, starting with the one at hand.

So you didn't ask the Ledyba for any help. Too proud for help it seems. Though it's a noble way to think, it's also a stupid one. No matter how good you think you are, there is always someone better. Like me. Take my advice, get all the help you can get. It can't hurt. But, since you didn't want it, you didn't get it. Ledyba chilled out and didn't attack. Your Cubone did a little Hulk Hogan pose, pumped the arms, and Focused. The Aipom had other plans. He made your Cubone look a lot less tough. He used a Sand Attack, which messed up your Cubone's vision.

But Cubone launched the Bone Club anyway. That small helicopter sound was beautiful, and struck true. Right between the Ledyba's eyes. What? Oh yeah, the Aipom used Baton Pass, and the Ledyba and Aipom switched places. That was going to hurt. Thankfully, the Ledyba realized this wasn't your fault. it seems you're going to have to be a lot trickier to deal with a trick Aipom. Thankfully, that Focus Energy didn't make it a critical hit. Good luck, as the Aipom faced it's rear end towards you and slapped it, taunting you.

Sigurd Focused his attack power for a few moments and then charged forward as instructed, everything was going as planned. That was, until, his foe turned the tables and Attacked his eyes with Sand. This counter caused the Lonely Pokemon to confuse friend from foe and attack the poor Ledyba with vigor. It seemed however, that the lady bug Pokemon didn’t blame Sigurd or Cole for the confusion and remained back while Sigurd faced back towards the slightly blurry image which was the Aipom. Although hindered, the Cubone seemed determined to rectify his mistake and defeat the monkey Pokemon as soon as possible.

Cole shared his Pokemon’s determination, and the current turn of events only made the fire in his eyes burn brighter than ever. He quickly assessed the situation and devised a rather self-satisfying strategy for the current state of affairs. “Okay Sigurd,” he spoke, “let’s show him why little tricks like those aren’t gonna work. I want you to keep your eyes focused on him as best you can. I know you’ve got some sand in your eyes but I really need you to focus. Next, I want you to wait until he launches an offensive, since he has no real long range attacks he should come in close. When he does that, pin him to the ground with your body and slam him with your Bone Club!”

The last section of his commands Cole uttered in a subdued voice so as the opposing trainer wouldn’t overhear his strategy. He was very careful not to give anything away to this brat, he wanted him to pay. There was no way that Cole was going to let him get away with this, and his partner, Sigurd, knew that. It was shown in how vigorously he attacked and how dynamically he carried out his commands. Currently, he poured this vigor and dynamo into his eyes as he focused through the impediment and through the pain and stared daggers through his goal, Aipom.

After such a terrible mistake, the Aipom had managed to deal you with hitting the Ledyba and not itself. Albeit a clever tactic at the time, it left one small problem, it hadn't hurt you in anyway. Sigurd took in your every word and started to focus itself, its vision lacking in such a way that the Ledbya and Aipom just became two blurry shadows in the distance.

Luckily your words as a trainer had left Sigurd with no choice, but to attack when attacked. This would leave it obvious who the Aipom was, being that the Ledbya would have no righteous reason to attack, but prefered sit back and watch the battle unfold. Would be a good way to prove your value as a trainer to the female bug. Your plan looked to be simple and clever as Sigurd tried to clear its eyes, looking up just in time to see the small monkey charging full on at him. Taking in the situation withing literally seconds, Sigurd jumped to the left, dodging out of the way of the Aipom, before turning around, locking onto the shadow-like image it could see, and giving it a hefty blow with its bone.

Your plan had been succesful, Sigurd looked around it, trying to gain a bearing of where it was, it's eyes still covered in sand. Without any anticipation the Aipom struck into the back of Sigurd, using a fairly weak and un-energetic attempt to scratch your Pokémon. The tables looked to be turning in your favour, all you'd need now is to clear up the eyes of Sigurd, and deal another fatal hammer, I mean Club, blow to your opponent, focusing more strength to defeat it.

Cole looked on eagerly as his partner executed his commands to perfection, no flaws apparent, other than a glancing scratch attack. Although he was quite confident due to the recent turn of events, the rookie trainer also realized that overconfidence would only lead to defeat. So he allowed himself only a slight smirk, nothing more, and returned to plotting for battle. Cole was certain that the same type of strategy would not work twice in a row, so he would have to devise a strategy quite quickly.

He will probably come in for some kind of physical attack, Cole thought to himself, but not directly, it’ll more than likely be some kind of trick attack. Above all else, Sigurd must be able to differentiate between the Ledyba and the Aipom. All I need is to have Ledyba make herself stand out from our opponent. But how can I do that? What can she do that he can’t?

“That’s it!” Cole yelled, finishing his thought verbally. “Ledyba, I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you fly up as high as you can? Just keep going higher and higher until your far enough away to watch the battle from a safe distance. You can come back down once we’re done, but I don’t want Sigurd getting you and that monkey confused. Okay?” As he finished, he looked calmingly to the ladybug Pokemon who seemed to understand what he wanted to accomplish. This strategy actually added another advantage to Cole’s side as well when one considered the fact that Ledyba would soon be too high for Aipom to Baton Pass without falling from much too high.

After his much thought through strategy was taken care of, Cole issued his commands to his Cubone, “Alright Sigurd, Ledyba is going to be flying very high out of the way, so you can focus just on Aipom. Just to make sure though, I want you to try and shake some of the sand from your eyes real quick. Whether or not this works, you should follow up with a Focused Bone Club.”

In response to his newest set of commands, the Lonely Pokemon tilted his bone-covered head toward the ground and shook it violently, attempting to get at least some of the sand out. As he did this, Cole once again thought, Let’s hope this works… If it does, then this battle should be over in no time…

Ledyba looked at you and then looked at her wing before she tested it and carefully flew up in the air. She understood why you where worried about her but she wasn't sure on how she could fly with her weak wing. She quickly looked around until she saw a tree nearby before she flew carefully into the air and moved as quickly as she could before she landed on the tree to take a break and rest her wing before she could fly back up into the air as high as she could in order to prevent that Aipom from being able to use Baton Pass on her again. She didn't want to cause anymore trouble for Sigurd that would prevent you or him from finishing this battle.

Sigurd nodded at you or tried to by turning his head towards where he heard your voice. After a while he was finally able to removed what was left of the sand out of his eyes and Focused on the Aipom making sure that he had no other way at using Baton Pass again. He noticed and saw the the Ledyba was to far away and up in the air to give the Aipom a chance to use Baton Pass once again since Ledyba was high up in the air. Sigurd then quickly moved towards Aipom raising his Bone up in the air. He then quickly slam it onto Aipom doing more damage to him then normal because of it being Focus. Because of the attack hitting so hard it defeated the Aipom.

Sigurd gains 7.27 :exp
Ledyba gains 8.12 :exp

Ledyba looked at you before she flew back down to be in front of you. "Who needs that bug anyway," the trainer said before he recalled his Aipom and took off running not even looking back. It would seem that Ledyba seems to trust you so what will you do with her.

Cole looked on satisfied as the battle ended in his favor, calling out to his fleeing opponent, “You better run ya little piece o’ [expletive]!” Once it was apparent that the kid was, in fact, running, the fire fled from Cole’s eyes to be summoned again another day. He then turned to the two Pokemon before him, congratulating each one in turn. Once his appreciation was shown, the young trainer returned his partner, the Lonely Pokemon, and turned back toward the ladybug Pokemon which he had gone through so much trouble to save. He looked inquisitively at the injured wing and almost immediately knew what to do to both help the Pokemon and add to his strength.

Bag pulled before him, Cole rummaged through his belongings before pulling out a small, purple spray bottle. He then held his hands up in friendship and sprayed a bit of the potion on his hand to show there was no adverse affects. After apparently convincing his newfound friend that he held only pure intentions, the young trainer sprayed the rest of the potion onto the busted wing of the harried Pokemon. Growing up where he had, Cole was quite environmentally conscious, and it was this that caused him to save the empty bottle once its usefulness had run its course.

Absolutely determined to add to his ever-growing strength as a trainer, Cole put on the absolute nicest show possible for the Ledyba. It’s not that he was acting nicer than he actually was; it’s just that Cole felt the need to add more to his already formidable team. The rookie then spoke softly to the ladybug, “Hey there bud, how’s that wing feeling now? I hope that Potion helped out with the pain and the inflammation. You really should have an expert look at that though… I’ll be passing by a Pokemon Center eventually once I get to Millenia… And, if you want, you’d be welcome to join me.”

With the conclusion of his little speech, Cole removed another object from his bag, this one being a Pokeball. Much like he had with Vesper, he held forth the round capture device before the Ledyba as an olive branch of friendship.

Ledyba nodded to your question/statement about its wing feeling better, and eventually began to think about joining you. However, when you asked it to join you on your own, you could see the excitement in its eyes as it fluttered about happily on the ground before leaping into the air and flying for a few moments before it decided not to hurt its wing again. Immediately after landing, the little bug pokemon tapped the pokeball in your hand with one of its antennae, becoming enveloped in a bright red light which you had familiarized yourself with at this point as the capture light.

Without so much as two shakes, Ledyba was caught and became the newest addition to your team. Happily you tucked your new ally's pokeball away in order to give her some time to rest, and eventually you were headed back on your way down Route 1 towards the shining coast of Millenia Town. On your way there, you could see numerous trainers piling around you, each excited to be on their journey, however some seemed just excited to inflict pain on other pokemon; kinda sad really.

None the less, as you headed down the route towards Joukai Pass, and then later Route 5 and finally Millenia Town, you could yourself astounded by the great ammount of pokemon that appears all over the place.

Within just a while longer of walking, you found yourself at the opening of a great field of green. However, this field of green was covered in pokemon all over. Truly it was amazing just to see all these pokemon happily playing around one another instead of fighting as was custom with them. However, these little pokemon could be seen just tucking away for the night, as the sun started to slide down over the fields, and slowly the bright blue sky faded to orange, then to pink, and now already it was setting into the dark blue of night.

How about finding somewhere to sleep for the night?

Cole continued on his merry way through the Route towards Joukai Pass, taking in his surroundings as he went. He took acute notice as many of the wild Pokémon nearby began to turn in for the inevitable night time. With this decline in daytime Pokémon, the young trainer saw an equal rise in the amount of nocturnal creatures. The worldwide transference of day to night was evident in more than just the actions of the Pokémon, many other trainers on the route were also turning in for the nighttime. As the sky went from blue to orange to black, Cole took his time up against a nearby tree thinking of what had transpired up until this point on his journey.

It was not so long ago that he had decided to set off upon this journey, to go out in search of his sister. He and his oldest friend, Tia, had just begun when they were interrupted, twice. Both interruptions resulted in new partners for the rookie trainer, Sigurd and Kain. With the two others he had just befriended, Cole had a nice round team of five Pokémon. One could wish for a bit more variety but he wasn’t complaining, things were just fine the way they were. The ultimate goal was still miles and miles away, both literally and figuratively.

All this reminiscing has got me exhausted, Cole thought to himself as a sudden bout of exhaustion overtook his body. The weary trainer slouched against the tree and took a surveying look of the surroundings. There was nothing all too threatening so his decision was easily made. The trainer would take while to rest here and shove off once he was sufficiently rested. Just as a precaution however, Cole released Kain and Tia to watch out in case he dozed off in the pleasant field.

Once the pair of normal types was released, Cole pulled them in close and began talking softly. “Alright guys, I’m downright exhausted. It’s been a long, long day. I want you guys to keep an eye out here okay? I know that I’m about five minutes from just passing out so I need you two to pay extra attention to everything. If there’s a problem then just do whatever you can to wake me up.”

The two Pokémon looked at each other and then back to their trainer and nodded simultaneously in understanding. They were a young and perhaps under-leveled pair, but they seemed absolutely determined to keep their trainer and friend safe from harm. Cole placed a hand on each of their heads and gave them both an encouraging tap before slumping back against the wooden pillar. “See you soon…”

Tia and Kain stood by your side, the pink canine sitting down near you. You stifled a yawn, before you felt your eyes closing, the beautiful sky above blurring, the voices of Tia and Kain discussing something slowly growing quiet. You were effectively sleeping right now, though not a deep sleep just yet. Your senses were heightened subconsciously to wake up upon your Pokémon’s calling, just in case there was danger lurking about. Tia was gently rubbing her head right where you had gave her a pat, a small smile on her face as she watched you sleep.

A couple minutes later, you had already slid down the pillar somehow, head lolled at a rather weird angle. You were probably going to have some pain in your neck later on … however, seeing this, Kain propped you up at once. Tia giggled, helping her friend with propping you up. Time soon started to tick on, with you snoozing peacefully. A few Pokémon passed, but none too threatening. They generally took a glance at you, before turning away. A couple brave ones were daring enough to step towards you, but hastily shied away when Kain started to growl.

The bushes started to rustle, a small creature emerging from it. It was grazed in multiple places, giving out little sounds of pain as it limped towards you. It was probably attracted to you due to the fact that you had Pokémon around you. It had a collar on, but no Trainer around – though you were still asleep, your partners noticed it and found it strange. Was the little Pokémon abandoned? Poor thing …

The Velix came up to you. Due to her not having a hostile aura, Kain and Tia were slightly less stiff when she approached. The Sentret gave her a look, before gently patting her shoulder. Kain started shaking you from the shoulder, trying to wake you up. The little Pokémon, though not dangerous from appearance, could definitely deal some damage if that was her ulterior motive.

When you did awake, you had a wet lick planted on your cheek. Aww, it was sort of cute … and those eyes! Tia was smiling at you as she toyed with the collar on the Velix’s neck.

Cole was awakened gently from his temporary slumber by a continuous nudging and a small, wet object brushing up against his cheek. His vision blurred and his senses slowly brought themselves into focus. It was quite dark out and the dark blue of the night washed out over the land like a cool blanket. Small pinpricks of light littered the sky and provided plenty of light for the young trainer to see. What he saw was his two partners, Tia and Kain, joined by a third Pokémon, this one being a stranger to the group. The stranger had feline features covered by a smooth cream color highlighted by purple paws, ears, and tail. Running through the cream was a series of brown stripes, and jutting out from its spine were three spikes tipped in a similar color.

The most prevalent feature about this creature was that all of the aforementioned features were marred with a series of scratches and its face was in serious pain. At seeing this, Cole acted quickly and concisely. He swiftly pulled a Potion from his bag, which was lying nearby, and held it out to the pained Pokémon. Cole had assumed that the unfamiliar Pokémon already knew the function of the spray device due to the collar it wore, but just to be sure he performed the same visible test he had done to prove good intent to Ledyba.

With a few quick sprays onto his arm, the young trainer gave Velix a soft and inquisitive look and said, “I know you’re in pain, but this bottle right here has special powers that can help you a lot. So if you trust me, I’d like to help you out here. Okay?” Putting added emphasis on the last part of his little speech, Cole waited for a few moments until he saw what he thought was a look of understanding and acceptance on the feline Pokémon’s face. At this sign, he sprayed the Potion on all of the injured portions of its body he could find, applying an even coat over each cut, scrape, and gash. Once satisfied, Cole stepped back and looked contentedly over all three of the gathered Pokémon.

The Velix was indeed, in pain as she gently gave you another lick in hopes of waking you up. Luckily for her, you woke up right after Kain raised his right hand to attempt a chop on your shoulder. Normally, he wouldn’t do such a thing – but desperate situations called for desperate measures. He had a sheepish look on his face when you did awake, his stubby hand hastily lowered. She could now smile at you when you sat upright, but her face was in pain as she attempted the smile. Her normally pricked ears were laid back, her tail limp on the ground instead of curled around her hind legs. The fox Pokémon’s black-tipped legs padded gently on the ground as she approached you once again, presumably for help. If the collar on her neck was any indication, she seemed to know that some humans could be trusted to give help.

Tia and Kain now retreated to the sidelines as you rummaged through your bag, trying to find an item that would help Velix. She tilted her head when you brought out an item similar to a spray can, and mustered a smile when you spoke to her gently. You sprayed some of the Potion unto your arm; at this, Velix gave a small yip of approval. Getting the signal you were waiting for, you immediately proceeded to spray an even coat all over her injuries, covering even the smaller ones a less cautious Trainer would miss. For that, Velix was clearly grateful as the Potion started to take effect, starting from the littlest of grazes.

Velix stared up at you, her body tingling from the sensation the liquid gave her. She definitely looked better – her eyes seemed to be shining, ears were pricked and her coat seemed to … shine? Well, it might just be a trick of the light, but you need no further confirmation as to her current condition. True to her playful and cheerful nature, she gave a few happy yelps, pacing around Tia and Kain and at the same time, sniffing at your legs. She seemed to take to you after that little favour you had done her – but still, the possibility that she had a Trainer was there. Perhaps a closer look at her collar would be prudent of you? No?

Either way, the little creature was glad to be acquainted with you, through that small bottle of Potion. If you were to persuade that Velix, I’m pretty sure she’d be willing to follow you along on your journey, and be a rather good addition to your team.
