So it's raining. Yeah, it's raining. You are near the ocean, a little rain couldn't hurt, right? Well, this is how your first step in Alternia is going to start: with rain. C'est la vie, mon ami? Yes, I speak French. What of it punk? Eh hem, well let's see what we could do in the glorious rain. Well, there's the shop you're standing in front of since you are hiding hiding under the awning from the rain. If you glanced up, the sign would read 'Millenia PokeMart'. Well, it wasn't so unusual but maybe Drifloon would like something?

At that moment, a particulary power gust of wind blew by. Thankfully Drifloon was safely in his Poke ball at the moment or you would be chasing after a flailing balloon. As you stood huddled under the awning, a girl came running up and stood under it with you. It looked like she had been crying but the only evidence of this was just her red eyes. She wiped at her face quickly and sniffled loudly. She was about your age and soaking wet from the rain. In one hand, she held a dripping wet sketchbook.
Silence is merely another language.

The cry before | The lull during | The silence after

Athan inhaled and exhaled after sitting down at the table that he had just recently found. As he felt the umbrella breeze over his head and his hair move back he figured that it would have been the perfect time to get a picture of a flying-type Pokemon and maybe even another picture of a Drifloon or a Drifblim. He watched the man and his Spearow and then glanced around the trainers and their Pokemon, switching his gaze back to back so he wouldn't attract attention. Then Athan finally saw the woman and her Squirtle, observing the Pokemon's blue color he was amazed...however the tattoos weren't exactly his picture of freedom that he liked to capture when drawing a Pokemon. He felt shivers go down his spine, the Squirtle kind of scared him. Alas he pushed himself to draw the Pokemon and the other interesting Pokemon he managed to pull out of the bunch.

After a moment or two of sketching pictures Athan looked up to see that Riley and Marquis had came back and his eyes widened in unbelievable excitement when he saw the sandwich, it had been so long since he had eaten a full meal and he was ready to tear the sandwich up. "Yeah sure, thanks man." Athan stated picking up the sandwich sinking his teeth into it and just when that happened...something had to go wrong. He felt the strong gust of wind go by, posing a great threat to the tables and when Athan noticed the drinks and napkins flying around the patio he instantly thought: Uindo! Athan kicked his chair back and stood up and that was when he noticed his Drifloon flying through the air. His mouth dropped open, collecting his sketchpad and his sandwich he took off after Uindo.

"Sorry guys I have to get my friend back, but I'll try to be back!" Athan cried trying to remain calm, being a Drifloon Uindo would be extremely hard to catch up at the rate the wind was going. He had to hope for a miracle at best, maybe the wind would die down and Uindo would drop close by to the cafe and he could return. As he ran he noticed Marlo still playing with the rock peacefully and joyfully. "Alright Marlo it is time to come back." Athan stated quietly recalling his young Marill to the Pokeball. There wasn't telling how long he would be chasing after Uindo so he would have to be fully prepared to not come back to the cafe. After recalling Marlo to the Pokeball he stormed back off in the direction Uindo was being swept off to! He had to learn to keep better watch of his Pokemon!

Alternia's Old Man
A strong gust of wind had picked up, scattering napkins, empty cups, and you beloved Drifloon down the street! You quickly picked up your few possessions and darted down the street in pursuit of your pokemon companion. Ahead of you, the little purple ghost was still caught in the breeze, and screamed in fear. LOON! There was no way you were going to lose your friend like this, so you ran as quickly as you could, trying desperately to keep up.

Unfortunately, trying to keep an eye on Uindo meant that you weren’t being as careful as you should be when darting into traffic. As you ran across a street you were suddenly on the ground and in a LOT of pain. Your whole left leg hurt, and you’d spilled everything you were carrying across the pavement. Beside you a girl in a purple sweatshirt and bicycle helmet was cursing. She had scrapes on the palms of her hands, and beside her, several orders of rice, sweet and sour pork, and egg rolls had been spilt on the ground.

Hey! Watch where you’re going idiot!”

As you were trying to get to your feet, a red blur crossed overhead. Looking it was a Spearow, racing down the street, in the same direction you had been running. A moment later, the black-suited man from the café was helping you, and the delivery girl get back on your respective feet. “Don’t worry, Zeta will catch the Drifloon.” Black suited man said.

The delivery girl harrumphed and rode off.

Moments later, Uindo’s screams were getting louder as he was dragged back to you and black-suite by his Spearow, Zeta. The scared ghost wrapped his appendages around your neck, and cried into your hair. “It looks like you two are ok. My name’s Gray, if you need any help you can usually find me at the Battle Camp. It’s a little further down the road on your right. Big grassy area with pokemon fighting. You’ll know it when you see it.”

With that, Gray and Zeta were off, heading in the direction of the Battle Camp. While Battle Camp didn’t seem like something you’d be interested in, it was another chance to see more pokemon. It could be a good chance for some drawings or action scenes. Of course, trying to finish your meal at the café with your friends was also tempting. But for now, you’d have to deal with Uindo trying to hug you so hard it was starting to sting a little.

Athan was pushing his body as fast as it could go as he took off down the street after his flying Drifloon, he really couldn't keep letting his Pokemon getting swept off into the wind like that as eventually it would become the down bringing of him because of exhaustion. He heard Uindo's screams through the air and got even more worried about his buddy, what if Uindo began to drop down and fell into the middle of a pack of shady Houndour's or in the path of a rampaging Aggron. "Hold on Uindo I am coming little buddy." Athan gasped as he continued to run after his young Pokemon, that was when he felt his feet leave the ground and pain strike his body.

Athan was now on the ground groaning and moaning, not knowing exactly what hit him. His arm was wrapped his leg which seemed to hurt a lot and he also noticed that there was tons of rice, pork, and egg rolls on the ground along with a hurt and agitated delivery girl who spat him. "Go whine somewhere else!" Athan snapped at the delivery girl as he struggled to get up, he really didn't keep a Rattata's tail about her bike or her to begin to with but there was something else gaping at him...Athan was having quite a complicated time getting himself up off the ground. As Athan struggled to stand up that was when he noticed something fly over head of him; he didn't say anything about it he just kept trying to get up off the ground...and that was when he was helped up onto his feet by the man from the cafe. Baffled as to how the back suited man had gotten here, surely he would've saw him as he was running, Athan began to inhale and exhale quite hard. Even though his help was offered he still wasn't quite sure if the man's Spearow could bring Uindo back.

A short amount of time passed after Athan was up off the ground and trying to recover from the bike accident, he noticed that the delivery girl had rode off on her bike, that was the only good thing going on for Athan at least, he was still quite unsure whether the Spearow was going be able to bring Uindo back. However his prays were answered when he heard Uindo scream again really loud and felt his Drifloon's small legs wrap around his head once more. Really proud to see his beloved Pokemon back he let out a small smirk, but begin to grunt and groan as Drifloon started to hug him tight: when the man whose name was Gray introduced himself and his Spearow Athan turned his attention back to thank them for their help returning Uindo...but as it seemed Uindo was hugging way to tight on the head that it piratically cut off his circulation. After Gray and Zeta explained about the Battle Camp Athan immediately reached for Uindo's Pokeball and returned the balloon Pokemon back inside. Now that Uindo was back inside of the Pokeball he could focus on other things, he glanced around and noticed that he had dropped the sandwich he had taken with him from the cafe...and he also noticed that he had no idea how to get back to the cafe. He glanced down the sidewalk to see if Gray and Zeta were still around, maybe he could ask them how to get back...he couldn't seem to find them so he decided he might as well head on, maybe he should check out this Battle Camp thing Gray was talking about as it did seem like there would be a lot of Pokemon there to draw...but then again Athan didn't like things that involved the word 'battle' and often figured that battling was too much of a hassle.

In the end after many moments of pondering around as to where he was going to go next, Athan decided he might as well try to find his way back to the cafe. He was till extremely hungry and since he had lost his sandwich he decided that it wouldn't be a bad idea to get another one and suck it up, but that still didn't change the fact he had no idea where he was going. Athan sighed and turned back around the way he had came running from and decided to find his way back to the cafe from there. Athan began to think about how much more his life could suck at the moment as he walked away from the scene trying to find his way back to the cafe clenching his stomach which was becoming a major nuisance with its constant growling. Why can't these things happen to other people for once? Athan thought drooping his head low as his was now becoming quite exhausted.

You wandered aimlessly through the town of Millenia, searching thoroughly for the enigmatic cafe which had thus-far managed to avoid your search efforts. After several fruitless minutes of searching, you were beginning to lose hope that you'd find the cafe at all. I mean, it hadn't been that hard to get to... Had it? Regardless, you were having a grand time walking aimlessly through the streets when you happened upon a certain wall which piqued your interest. The wall in question was the side of a nearby shop, a wall which had quite a large painting upon it.

The painting was a rather crude one, but it was a painting nonetheless. There was a black and gray figure which seemed to be the silhouette of a rather large man. Upon this man's shoulder there was a more-defined figure, a black a brown bird Pokemon, much like the one that had just brought Uindo back to you. The painting itself could use some work, but it really wasn't all that bad, particularly the Pokemon. It seemed that this artist was more talented at drawing Pokemon, something you could sure respect.

As you looked upon the painting, you noticed that the paint was still quite wet. The artist must still be around. But where? There was noone in sight, at least noone who looked like they had just painted a mural, and there were no painting supplies anywhere to be seen. It was then when you saw it, a dumpster. The nearby garbage disposal was shaking quite violently, whoever had painted the portrait was probably in there. Suddenly, the artist revelead herself!

A humanoid Pokemon popped instantly out of the dumpster and onto the pavement before you. It was a beige color coupled with brown spots here and there, and its tail was its instrument: a giant paint brush.

Athan continued his walking, clenching his stomach and constantly groaning. He could feel the intensity of his stomachs constant growling eating away at his stomach inhaling and exhaling...however as it seemed there was no way that he could get back to the cafe and he came to the conclusion that he was going to be wandering around Millenia Town for the rest of his life at this rate. As he continued his strolling along he came across a store with a strange site on it, a rather odd painting was splattered out onto the stores wall and he was rather intrigued, it was probably one of the most interesting things that he had seen recently. "I wonder who painted this, it isn't half bad." Athan stated rubbing his chin, forgetting about his hunger as he spoke. The closer he observed the painting he also came to notice that the paint on the wall was still wet, the painter still had to be around.

Athan continued to observe the painting, cocking his head to try to and make out the shapes of the painting. He bit his lower lip to show that he was quite deep in thought trying to observe the painting and discover the moral behind it. That was when the loud shaking and rattling of the nearby garbage disposal caught his attention; Athan turned his head wildly to notice a humanoid creature, a Pokemon, creeping from behind it. Taking closer observation of the Pokemon he noticed that the tip of its tail was covered in a strange material, paint! This Pokemon must have been the painter. He had to applaud the Pokemon for its efforts at the painting, it was an alright painting and he liked it. "Hey little Pokemon, did you paint this? I like your work." Athan said getting down on one leg as he talked to the Pokemon. He would love to have an artist like him on his team, maybe he could get this Pokemon to join him? As he continued to stare down with the Pokemon he pulled out his notepad; Athan wasn't even exactly sure what kind of Pokemon this was and he was sketching it as he saw it. After about a moment or two of sketching the Pokemon he put up his sketchpad and smirked a small smirk at the Pokemon.

The Painter Pokemon stared at the sketch you had made intently, apparently critiquing it against her own drawings. When suddenly, she snagged it violently from your hands to get a better look. Seemingly satisfied, and even a bit impressed, the Smeargle handed the sketchbook back to you and returned to her wall. She moved a few paces to the left of her original mural and once more wielded her tail/paint brush, going to town on the clear part of the wall. It began with a simple stroke of purple, but, with swift and certain strokes, it soon became something much, much more.

The artist began with a circular purple object. She then continued on to draw two thin extremities that ran out from the bottom of the circle down to two matching yellow hearts. Next, using the same shade of yellow she used for the hearts, she struck a yellow "x" upon the center of the circle. Right next to the "x" there were soon two black dots, one on either side. To finish it off, her brush floated gently over the top of the circle, leaving a white cloud resting atop the finished product. The drawing in its entirety was a pretty decent representation of your good friend Uindo. She must have seen you two sometime earlier, perhaps when you were wandering aimlessly, or maybe when you were at the cafe. Who knows? I sure as heck don't. Why would I?

Anyway, you did not have time to appreciate the likeness to your partner as a loud ruckus had just caught both your and the new Pokemon's attention. A rather large man came bursting out of the shop on which the portrait was resting and he was yelling, loudly. "WHAT THE HECK DO YA THINK YER DOIN' WRITIN' ALL OVER MY WALL LIKE THAT YA MANGY ANIMAL?!?!?" This shop was obivously his, and he was obivously enraged with the fact that someone would deface it as such. The Smeargle looked up at you in fear as if to say: Help!

Athan stared blankly as the Pokemon, Smeargle, took his sketchbook to look at the drawing of itself that he had drawn in it. He didn't mind the Pokemon looking at his work, considering the fact that she was an aspiring artist herself. After getting it back from her however he was curious as to what she was doing next when she went back to add some 'finishing touches' onto the mural. Athan patiently watched as the Smeargle continued her work, splashing purple and an yellow X on it. He cocked his head in curiosity trying to make out what it was that the Smeargle had painted; after a few moments of thinking and curiously thinking he finally figured out that it was a Drifloon but not just any Drifloon it was Uindo! He smirked again at the sight of his buddy being splattered up onto the wall of the shop, who wouldn't love this painted on their store well apparently not this guy who suddenly came storming out of his shop.

Athan swirled his head around and noticed a large dude come blasting out of the store yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs about how he didn't like the painting and calling the aspiring artist Pokemon an animal, Athan didn't appreciate the man's comments about the Smeargle and its arts especially since the picture was that of his Drifloon who was his best friend. Athan stepped over to the side of the Smeargle and then stepped in front of the painting Pokemon trying to look at the large man dead in the face. "Excuse me sir this Pokemon did a great job painting this and you should be proud to have a picture of my Drifloon painted up on your store!" spat Athan who was prepared to make some rude insults to the man if he tried to retaliate by making fun of the painting some more. He was willingly to defend this fellow artist to the fullest extent of his ability and maybe even battle to defend the art, that was just how Athan was...an art lover, a lover for the arts and somebody who loved other artist despite not liking human communications.

  • This guy was a heart attack waiting to happen – the evident anger in his voice was over-the-top compared to the situation which brought it on, and was even enough to scare the little aspiring artist back a few feet, away from her work. She was so frightened, in fact, that this might have not been their first face-to-face confrontation. Her tail wrapped around her tightly, as if to secure her shaking body, and small Smeargle whines accompanied the shop keeper’s outraged cries.

Though you were an awfully courageous kid for standing up for what you believed in, it was best to pick your battles in accordance to the odds – which weren’t too good for you as of right now. The guy you were ordering to back off was in his mid-fourties, which a chest full of curly black hairs practically spilling out of his low-cut wife beater. He pushed you back with a hand just eager to do much more, but restrained his rising frustrations by spitting near your feet and saying, “
Shut the hell up, kid,” then walking a ways away from his wall. He then proceeded to snatch two Pokeballs from the back pockets of his Hilfiger jeans. When he threw them it was with such force that they bounced off his store wall and clanked to the ground, then finally burst to reveal two Pokemon suited for only one job: clean up.

Staryu, Krabby, clean this shit off my property.” The shop keep looked almost mockingly at you as his cohorts began with their attacks: accordingly, Water Gun and Bubble. Meanwhile, the Smeargle looked heartbroken as her newly finished piece started to ooze off her makeshift canvas and to the dirty street below. She must have wanted to restrain the man and his Pokemon, but what could an artist do in a situation such as this?

Athan's mouth dropped open in disbelief at the man's crazy and angry actions, he had told him to shut up and he had spit near him! On top of that he had proceeded to release his Pokemon and to wash the beautiful art off of the wall, he glanced at the Smeargle who appeared to be crushed by the man's actions. Athan was angered and he knew that he had to do something about this, for one the situation had become quite personal at the mans insult towards him and it also became personal at the moment he called the mural ugly as it was a mural of his beloved Drifloon...Athan had to act and he had to act fast. "Who do you think your talking to fat man?" Athan asked, shooting off his tongue smirking deviously, he had Marlo and Uindo's Pokeballs in between his fingers ready to take this man out.

"Let's see what you have down recently: you have nearly spit on me which is the most nastiest thing you can do to a person and you have ruined a beautiful piece of artwork which could possibly bring business to this hole in the wall dump you got going on here." Athan spat, lashing his tongue out as he spoke. He took Uindo's Pokeball and pressed the button enlarging it and did the same for Marill, he had just had enough of this man and his rude attitude and he was going to make Athan end up battling...and Athan despised battling; the man's attitude would most naturally call for it though, spitting at people? Telling them what to do in a unfashionable manner? It's war now! Athan looked at the heartbroken Smeargle and stepped sideways to protect the Pokemon further, he knew that any moment at this mans state of mind violence could erupt and he wanted to be prepared to get the innocent Pokemon out of there when the time called for it. Afterwords Athan turned his attention back to the man.

"So sir how does it feel to be insulted in your own place? What are you going to do about it?" Athan questioned the man trying to look him dead in his face, he smirked one of those smirks that made people think that they thought they were better than you. It almost seemed that he was trying to instigate something with the man but at the same time it didn't, Athan was quite a unpredictable and a loose cannon for an artist like himself...then again that was how some free spirited people were at times, being a free spirit could turn you reckless and into a risk taker when you have lived a life he did. "So bring it on if you please." Athan lashed out one last time with his tongue. Next thing he knew he took the two Pokeballs containing his Marill: Marlo, and his Drifloon: Uindo and he threw the Pokeballs out onto the ground releasing them. Athan sighed when he did so, a battle was bound to erupt soon anyway so he might as well released his two Pokemon to deal with the fat man's.

Bring it on if you please? Well the man would have no problem with that, but he didn't need to even speak to his Pokemon, as they stopped spraying the wall and turned to you quickly. The Krabby's claws snapping in a sharp motion, that was meant to scare and intimidate you, as the man pointed towards the Smeargle's tail. "I'm gonna cut that...dog's tail off!" And that was when he would point towards you, not even giving a second thought. "Staryu....I want you to hit that Drift...thing, with a water gun. And Krabby...hit the Marill with a bubble attack!!!" The orders were quick and true, and they went into action. Water fired and bubbles flew towards your Pokemon.

They were hit, but with minimal effects as you probably were ready for the fight now. The smeargle moving towards the wall to begin painting, calming it's nerves for the battle ahead of it, soothing it's own mind with the painting. Yet, that probably only further infuriated the man, and it did so. "I swear...I'm gonna make Smeargle sandwiches when I'm done with you!!"

Athan chuckled again trying to be a smarty pants just to annoy the man, feeling highly non-intimidated by him or his Pokemon. It didn't really matter to the Pokemon Watcher whether he won the battle or not, either way he wouldn't be scared of the tubby man and would just trip the fat guy and take the Smeargle; however Athan finally turned serious when he saw the Staryu and the Krabby hit Uindo and Marlo. "Uindo! Marlo! Crap!" Athan exclaimed his eyes widening, the attacks didn't seem too weak and if they continued attacking at a continuous rate it would cause a serious damage to his Pokemon. Taking a slight moment to think Athan finally called out his moves.

"Uindo and Marlo let's go: Uindo you use Constrict to wrap that Staryu up and Marlo attack that Krabby with a Tackle." Athan shouted, what he was going to was try to get the Staryu restrained for awhile with Constrict so Marlo could take down the Krabby to at least a decent amount of low health and then he would focus on the Staryu, Athan wanted Marlo to go into the fight with Uindo covering her by holding off the Staryu because Marlo was a water-type and the attacks dished out by Staryu and Krabby...well at least the water based ones would not dearly harm her giving her a slight defensive advantage while attacking. Athan's thoughts continue to process through his head, he never often found himself in a situation where he needed to battle but this was the first on in quite awhile; Athan was feeling quite worried for one of the first times in his life. On top of that, what exactly might happen if he lost the battle? Would Smeargle be beaten or even worse: killed and what about himself? Would the plump man call the police on him for starting a battle on his own property. After going through a moment of thought he cried out to the fat shopkeeper hoping that he would at least reason with him for just a little bit. "Sir, I never thought that things would come to a battle so fast...but just in case of the event that I may lose I would like to propose that I clean up the rest of the mess and your shop if I lose." Athan spat out, he certainly didn't want to end up in a bad situation in the event that he lost the battle against the plump shopkeeper.

  • Things have really gotten heated since my last ref! Good, good, all is how I’ve foreseen it to be. Now, to start things off on the first of, I’m sure, many battles to come, how about a bit of profanity?

You imbecilic child! How dare you defend such a lowlife! You’ll regret messing in my affairs!” This shop keeper, as I’ve said, certainly has a heart problem or two – but you can’t really blame the guy. I mean, his store is probably all he has. There was no wedding band fit taught around his left ring finger, indicating he had no spouse (though the wife beater may have been a tip off to this fact). Maybe this storefront replaced the hole in his heart meant for a woman. This idea is a bit creepy, sure, but plausible. Anyway! Back to the battle at hand, and the starting moves you initiated.

Now, even though your opponent is one intimidating dude, that does not by any means declare him a good, if not decent, trainer – he’s forty and owns some kind of indiscriminate store, so I’d weigh my bets on him sucking ass. He knew how to pick the fights, but the in between was lost on such a hothead – he really had no cheeky reply to your commands. Uindo came almost too fast for him to even flinch in surprise, which affected his Staryu in a bad way – the interlocked Pokemon levitated around in a haphazard way, and it looked as if the Drifloon was struggling to keep it’s target under arms. This strain would surely consume a good chunk of energy, but wasn’t enough to allow Staryu the pleasure of escape. The starfish-esque Pokemon made little “
Hiya!” noises, like in the show except less monotone. It didn't like being restricted and manhandled by a balloon.

Krabby and Marlo’s one-on-one was a little more to the book: a simple brawl of physical strength and wit. Both low-level Pokemon had a limited attack range, leaving their course of action... well, limited. The Marill obeyed your instructions to a tee, and charged with a small and squeaking cry: “
THIS IS SPAR- no, that reference is overplayed.” Anyway, Marlo tried to be evasive around it’s opponent, but it was difficult when you were so round and chubby – she hit her target, but the Krabby had braced for the offensive. He took the hit like a man, then, swift as a fox, reached out with it’s pincer to lacerate the joints between the Marill’s tail bone and switch, i.e. it’s tail. Crap! That had to sting. Well, maybe not as bad as this.

The shop keep didn’t really know what to do, so he called out attacks at random, hoping they would hit their mark. “
Water Gun, Bubble! Water Gun, Bubble!” It was almost like he was chanting. Nevertheless, dumb luck won out on Krabby’s behalf – with Marlo in it’s grasp it had a clear hit, which made contact. Luckily, there was a type advantage in Marill’s case. The stream of bubbles barely even hurt the water mouse. As for Staryu, liquid gushed out of the central point of it’s five-pointed body, but thanks to Drifloon’s position the water just jettisoned skyward and eventually sprayed the battlefield in a cooling mist.

    Checkmate!

Athan smirked trying to remain cool, it seemed the man was hot headed and out of control at the moment not taking too much notice of his offer...now it was time to go loose cannon on him. "Marlo, Uindo try your best to switch opponents. Uindo wrap that Krabby up with Constrict and Marlo hit the Staryu with Tackle!" Athan shouted, hopefully Marlo could break free of Krabby's grasp and deal some damage to the Staryu and maybe Uindo would wrap up Krabby. Athan felt that Uindo could take Krabby on his own considering the fact that the Pokemon already seemed puny enough in his perspective. As he waited for his Pokemon to try to respond to his commands he kept his eye on the Staryu, it was quite important that he kept his eye on that Pokemon as it seemed it had some strength and lots of fight left within it.

Athan's heart continued to beat at the speed of lighting as the fact that the battle was quite entertaining and got his blood pumping, Athan had never felt this thrill before...he usually like to sit quiet and draw pictures of Pokemon relaxing and playing with one and other or by themselves; never had Athan thought about the fact that battling alongside Pokemon could bring the rush into his inactive personality and his boring ways, this even bought him up to the point where he cried many cries out to his Pokemon in order to encourage them to fight against the man's Pokemon, specially his Staryu. "Come on guys you can do it, give it to them, show this guy how to respect art!" Athan shouted, quite riled up from the battle. At this point it probably didn't matter if he won or lost to him and if it did he would probably be hurt tremendously due to the fact that he had gotten so hyped up during battle; apparently this is what happens to be people who don't normally battle...when they do battle they get carried away. Athan continued shouting, far from out of his personality and throwing his fist up in the air in excitement; if his family were there at the moment they would probably be taking pictures as during his childhood he had kept himself separated from them and extremely unnoticed. Athan turned his attention to the man during the battle trying to keep his eyes on his movements and words as there was no telling what he could say or do to give something away that might lead Athan to a wide opening for attack.

Phasing Flashback Defender Vigilance
(Hey, I saw that your profile didn't include the nickname info for Marlo, so I went ahead and changed it so that it would. Hope you don't mind. Now for your ref:)

“Ha Har! That's how it's done!”, yelled the opposing trainer smugly, “Teach that Marill what's what!”. It seems that he was caught up in his Krabby's small victory. But, the battle was not over. In quick accordance to your orders, Uindo let go of the Staryu and sped toward the Krabby. The Staryu spun about and regained a steady height in the air. It was ready for its trainer's next command. But that didn't come, as your opponent was too busy gloating. “Har har har! Your puny Driftblum can't keep up with Staryu? Some protector of art you are!”, he taunted sickeningly. The edge of his insult was dulled slightly by the fact that he failed to properly identify your Pokemon. Still, an insult was an insult.

Had he actually taken the trouble to issue orders to his Staryu, he would have probably been able to stop Uindo. But, as it stood, your balloon-like friend easily continued on his way. The Krabby saw your Pokemon coming and began to snap at it with with one claw, while keeping a firm grip on Marlo's tail with the other. Uindo floated above the Krabby, out of his reach. He dipped and swerved, trying to find a way to get past the menacing claw. “That's right! Pop that balloon!”, yelled the older trainer, “... What?!” Uindo had successfully managed to maneuver close to the Krabby and wrap it in a tight Constrict. The Krabby struggled and snapped its empty pincer, but it's arms were tied tightly against its body, rendering its claws essentially harmless to the Drifloon.

Marlo had been trying its best to pull its tail out of the Krabby's grasp. But, try as she might, the crab's deathly grip was just too strong. If anything, the pulling just strained her tail more, causing her even more pain. When Uindo wrapped his arms around the Krabby, pressing the crabs arms and legs to its body, it loosened its grip enough that Marlo was able to slide his tail through its claw so that it was grabbing him closer to the end. He wasn't entirely free, but at least he had more room to maneuver.

This all happened fairly quickly and left your opponent babbling. “What? But... Waterg-No! Tack... um... Auugh!” He was quite red in the face and began stamping the ground with one foot. It appeared as if his anger had gotten the best of him. The Staryu turned to him and waited for its orders, unsure of whether or not it should continue without its commanding trainer's direction. The less experienced Krabby began to foam at the mouth with frustration as it struggled to break free of your Pokemon's grip. Ironically, Marlo was still trying to break free of the Krabby's own grip. So the round ended, with one very angry trainer, one Staryu looking for direction, and a chain of grappling Pokemon.

Athan was beginning calm down after he saw that the battle had moved into an okay position for his side of the fight. Uindo had managed to move from Staryu and maneuver clearly over to Krabby and wrap the Pokemon in its constrict attack, Uindo was wrapped around the Krabby and now Marlo was still struggling to break free. Since Uindo was wrapped around Krabby and Marlo was still having a hard time getting to her new target, there was only one thing for him to do; since his Pokemon were physically bound to the Krabby he had no choice but to attack the crab Pokemon and hopefully he would eventually throw it out of the battle and then he would be able to focus both of his Pokemon on Staryu and hopefully knock it out if it didn't knock his Pokemon out first. Alright Uindo keep using Constrict on that Krabby and Marlo turn on the Krabby with a Tackle to try and break free!" Athan called out.

After trying to attack Athan noticed that the man was highly baffled and confused as to what was going on the battle, maybe this man wasn't as strong as Athan had thought and his rapid insults towards Athan was getting under the eighteen-year-old Pokemon Watcher's skin quite dearly. He chuckled at the sight of Staryu staring around confused as its master had no idea what to do in the battle, maybe he should take the man's bafflement to advantage later on in the battle as it was clear to him that the man had little or no idea what to do. "What's the matter old man? Can you decide what the heck to do, if not then I will wrap things up for you chubby." Athan then spat, mocking the older man. Athan felt the previous insult was necessary, the man was being quite unreasonable calling out random insults during the middle of the battle and getting over heated as the battle moved on, Athan chuckled once more...maybe getting under the man's skin even more would cause him to screw up and give Athan and advantage so he could take the battle.

Come on Marlo, come Uindo! Athan cheered in his mind as the battle continued on, the young man balled his fist together tight wondering what the plump man had planned next...if he had anything planned period. With these types of situations you never knew what could happen; what if the plump man finally decided to quite his constant blabbing and actually got to a good fight? Athan had to prepared, with a slight inhale and exhale he began to plan out his moves hoping to come up with a good strategy or two to finish this thing up and save Smeargle from the man's mental rampage.
