You were indeed correct about the battle. Unless the Sandshrew pulled out some ungodly moves that it had been hiding from you and Beldum this was going to be over real quick. Now, to the action! Beldum sat and concentrated on its physical strength, focusing on its attack power. Its body made of steel was already powerful, but now it felt like it was even stronger. The Sandshrew took this time to unleash its fury in a powerful Scratch attack. She tried her hardest to make a dent in your Beldum's armor, but it didn't do very much damage at all. Beldum took the hit with relative ease, leaned back, and propelled itself forward with a powerful Take Down attack. Combined with the boosted attack, it did even more damage to the Sandshrew. It seemed like Beldum was doing more damage to itself via recoil damage than the Sandshrew was. Sandshrew hit the ground after the blow, and then hopped up attempting to Scratch it again. Apparently she wasn't going to go down gently. The battle wasn't over yet. The Sandshrew still had some fight left in her. What do you do next? This battle seemed to be going smoothly. It certainly made a change, Jimmy was just waiting for a handful of fire type pokemon to appear and ruin his day. "I'm not that unlucky." Jimmy thought to himself. Still this Sandshrew was a pretty high level. It may be worth something if Jimmy caught it. It couldn't hurt to knock it out first though just so that it wouldn't put up as much of a struggle. A simple Focus/Take Down combination should solve his problems. "Okay Beldum, start to Focus on your Strength once again. Then use Take Down on that Sandshrew." Jimmy yelled. Focusing on Strength again would put Beldum's strength above Sandshrew's solid defence, and even if it used Defence Curl again the odds would still be in his favour. Beldum still had plenty of energy left so Jimmy decided to take full advantage of his opponent. "Once you've used Take Down once, get behind it and use Take Down again." Jimmy yelled. He had grown bored of fighting this thing, he just wanted to capture it and continue his way to Nogou. Jimmy pulled a pokeball out of his backpack, he seemed to have aquired quite a few of them recently...it was time they were put to good use. He held the pokeball in his hand, just waiting for his oppurtunity. "Sandshrew, your mine" |

Beldum concentrated hard, pulling all of its energy into its core. Hovering inches from the ground, it made a metallic clicking sound at your commands, acknowledging them. You nodded, watching intently. You had no doubt that this Sandshrew would soon be yours. Beldum overpowered it in every way but power level, and even in a battle like this, that did not matter much. You had basically won, right? The small creature gained its footing once again, rolling up onto its clawed toes. It looked at your Beldum, growling deep in its tiny chest. She was angry. "Shrew, Shrew!" she barked, launching herself at your Beldum, who was still gathering energy for its next commands. Her claws scraped almost uselessly against Beldum's hard, metal body. She hit the ground and rolled away, only to circle quickly back to attack again. Claws scraped metal again, creating sparks this time. This Sandshrew wasn't going down without a fight, it looked like. When she circled back once again, Beldum was ready for her. It swooped down on the loping shrew pokemon, slamming her hard into the ground. The Sandshrew squeaked in pain and surprise, being pushed down into the dirt by the much heavier psychic pokemon. She immediately tried to hop away, but Beldum was also ready for that. It slammed down again, this time much harder. Its upped attack stat also aided in hurting the Sandshrew a little more than bargained for. Beldum went in for the final attack, but the Sandshrew managed to escape narrowly. She rolled herself into a ball, skittering into a nearby bush. Dirt and sand shot into the air from where Beldum had slammed down, covering the clearing with a veil of dust. This was almost over. Having had enough of this battle Jimmy decided that it was time to move on. He had lots to do and he wanted to finish this request quickly so he could get back to training. Jimmy wanted to teach Beldum a move so that battling would be easier as it was obvious that just Take Down was not enough when battles started to get tougher. He needed to know that Beldum could take on any type of pokemon. But once again Jimmy was going off-schedule. He needed to remain focused so that he could get his hands on a new pokemon. "Beldum you know what to do. Wait for your oppurtunity and smash it in with a Take Down. After that no matter what it does, whether it uses Defence Curl or it tries to attack, get it one more time with Take Down." Jimmy yelled as Beldum gave a bzzt of agreement. Beldum charged forward and Jimmy enlarged the pokeball in his pocket. It was funny how much easier wild pokemon were to beat than trainers. He knew that victory was in his grasp, whether he caught the pokemon or not. "I can't fail." Jimmy thought to himself. "I won't fail. I'm going to be the strongest." Jimmy yelled as he prepared to throw the pokeball at full force once Beldum had finished it's assault. |

All good things must come to an end at some point. This battle was no different. The Sandshrew put up a valiant effort, but she couldn't overpower Beldum's steel force. She attempted to curl up in a Defense Curl, trying to tighten her defenses, but was only greeted by a powerful Take Down. After Beldum took some slight recoil, she gave up her defense and tried to use her sharp claws and Scratch, but it was in vain. Beldum simply was too much for her, and decisively knocked her out with another brutal Take Down. Beldum hopped up off the defeated foe, and you threw the ball at the Sandshrew. She was sucked into the little Pokeball with a flash of red light. The ball wiggled once......twice......three times..... and then went white. Congratulations! Sandshrew was now yours! As you and Beldum looked down at the pokeball containing your new friend, you had to decide what to do next. Perhaps go towards a town, or maybe look for other wild Pokemon. The choice is yours. Jimmy walked over to the pokeball containing his new friend and placed it in his backpack. He turned back to Beldum and gave it a thumbs up. Drawing Beldum's pokeball, Jimmy recalled his faithful companion and also put the pokeball into his backpack. "Hehe no sweat. Now then, back to work." Jimmy said to himself as he continued walking down the path towards Nogou Village. Going through his assignment in his head as he walked only brought more questions and misunderstandings to Jimmy as he stopped and rested. "Man I didn't think this through. I should have got his number so I could find out where to go and where to meet him. Dammit!!" Jimmy yelled to himself. He looked at his Poketech and sighed. "Does this stupid thing have a way for me to get his number." Jimmy said to himself, as he fell to the floor and stretched out. He certainly didn't know what he was going to do once he had the package. Go back to Joukai and randomly wander around, hopefully bumping into his employer. "Maybe he doesn't want me to return it. Maybe it's a test...or a gift." Jimmy said as he withdraw a random pokeball and started spinning it on his finger. "Alright I got a plan." Jimmy said as he stood back up. He wiped himself off and started walking towards Nogou Village. Jimmy threw the pokeball to the ground and out popped Houndour. "Hey buddy, whilst we're here, lets finish learning Flamethrower, got it?" Jimmy said as Houndour walked quietly by his side. "You remember what we practised last time. Draw your anger and hate into the most powerful flame you've got. You already know how to fire the Flamethrower technique, but now we need to learn to control it's power. Okay, I have a plan. I know you and me don't get on too well. I don't trust many people or pokemon in this world. But I want my friends to have my trust and trust in me in return. To prove my trust and friendship to you, I'm going to stand just over here." Jimmy said, pointing a few metres away from Houndour. "I want you to fire the Flamethrower towards me, but sweep it, so that it just flys past me. Can you do that? Don't worry...I trust you." Jimmy said smiling. He had complete faith that Houndour would find it in her to control it's power. She had to. Edited by killaz, Oct 6 2009, 07:33 PM.

Oh... Being real risky with that last bit. 9 reffs out of 10 would probably call it Umod+ and have you die right there.... But Fate Coin said I have to be nice... So you'll live.... But.. I'll have to do something.. Houndour had screated the attack almost perfectly so far, lacking only on the aiming. And with this new situation it was given.. It either had to perfect the aiming now, or toast her trainer. Not wanting to just go out and blast you first, She did a few lacking trial runs of the attack to your left, and then turned back to you. She would create the full attack now, and either perfect it, or end her days as being trainer owned. Although the later option was ideal to newly caught Pokemon, those who have been with a nice trainer for any amount of time would want to say with them. But, anyway, getting back to this pretty risky tutor. Houndour gathered the flames in her mouth, building their heat and intensity, untill finally letting loose a pillar of flames. The stream was continous, and soared right past the side of your head. It singed you slightly, but what would you expect from a rapidly moving river of fire blasting past you're face? The good thing was, that this was exactly where she was aiming for. Which means, that this move has been learned completely now! Using it in battle once or twice will tweek out any small problems, but overall, this move was pretty much mastered. Just... Don't use yourself as a target next time... And I'd brush off the burn hair before going into town, right? But first.... It seems like there was something watching you and your tutor. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see a Pokemon dart out of the bushes. it was a small, brown fox looking Pokemon. It didn't seem like it wanted to fight just yet, but it probably would if provoked. Flamethrower: 100%Battle? Jimmy looked towards Houndour, not breaking his eyes away from her. He didn't smile, he didn't frown, he just stared. Houndour had completely learned Flamethrower, a very powerful move that would no doubt come in very handy in the battles to come. Still not breaking eye contact with his pokemon, who was now sitting down and staring at him with a very confused look on her face, Jimmy could still hear his heart beating, and the surge of burning heat that just narrowly missed his head. In a split second Jimmy toppled backwards and landed on the hard ground, staring up to the sky. Not saying a word he moved his lips and mouthed some sort of sentence. In his head he could hear it perfectly, "Okay...let's never do that AGAIN!!" Jimmy then burst out laughing. The sudden shock of near death always brought people out in laughter, it was strange but uncontrollable. Jimmy, wiping away a tear sat up and beckoned Houndour over. Scratching her behind the ears he whispered "Well done girl, you did great." As he pulled out a pokeball and prepared to return her, Jimmy suddenly noticed a strange pokemon walking close to him. It seemed as though it was watching him train his pokemon. It could probably smell the burning. Noting that Jimmy brushed off the singed hairs from his shoulders and considered his available options. Deciding to keep Houndour out for the moment, Jimmy returned the pokeball to his pocket and got back up to his feet. He couldn't really be bothered to battle, although he would if he had to. The pokemon looked pretty docile, so Jimmy decided he would try out a different tactics. He pulled out a Pecha Berry from his pocket and held it out in his hand. He wanted to see if the pokemon would accept his offer of friendship. It definately was a unique pokemon and Jimmy certainly wouldn't mind one on his team...if it accepted the Pecha Berry of course. But even then it wasn't certain. Hopefully the bond Jimmy was trying to create with his Houndour would encourage the pokemon to join. "You look hungry" Jimmy said, "Here, eat this." He smiled, waiting to see what would happen. |

Well, Sora's fate coin may have landed on nice, but mine...well, not so nice. Heh heh heh. You didn't think you'd be getting this lovely Velix for nothing, did you? No, you're gonna have to go through hell for him! Well, not exactly hell, but it's not like he'll just join you. He walked up to you cautiously. Can't say I blame him, seeing as how he watched you almost get killed by a stream of fire. He carefully took the berry and ate it. Chewing slowly at first, eventually he was smiling, eating away at the berry. Hmm, maybe you won't have too much trouble after all. "Hey you! Stop that Velix!" Huh? Well what was all this about? A chubby man came waddling towards you, completely out of breath. After panting a bit he finally caught his breath and pointed at the poor Velix in front of you. "That no good Velix ruined my garden! I've been chasing him from my little cottage for the last hour! Now that I've caught up with him I can take my revenge!" Revenge for a garden? Was this guy for real? He took out two Pokeballs, releasing the Pokemon within. Level 14 Level 11I guess he's for real. You can't let him take out this poor innocent Velix. All he'd done was ruin a tiny garden in this guy's cottage. Nothing irreversible. And besides, he was so cute! You have to defend him. Or you could leave him to his fate. I'd defend him though, I mean, he's just a poor Velix, and he'll grow into a powerful Voidix. So I'd take the heroic route and save this poor fox. But it's your choice, not mine. "How pathetic" Jimmy said, standing back up after Velix had finished eating the only berry Jimmy had on him. "You chase a poor pokemon for embracing it's baser instincts. You could have fixed your garden up by now, but here you are. Well I hope your ready, your pokemon are in for a world of pain." Jimmy finished as he started at his new opponent. What was he thinking? The guy was a loser, and Jimmy was going to prove that to him now. Reaching into his pocket Jimmy pulled out two pokeballs. He was planning on using Beldum yet again, since it had a clear advantage, as it took minimal damage from both pokemon. The second pokemon was a risk. With Houndour Jimmy could take out Roselia in a matter of seconds, but Marill posed a real threat. Grimer however, could take Roselia with his Sludge attack and Marill wouldn't deal too much damage. But Grimer was quite powerful already and Jimmy really needed to train Houndour more. His opponent didn't look too powerful, so Jimmy had chosen Houndour as his second pokemon. "Lets Begin!!" Jimmy yelled as he threw his two pokeballs into the air, releasing Beldum and Houndour onto the battlefield. "Houndour no holding back. Focus on your Special Attack, and blast Roselia with two powerful Flamethrowers" Jimmy yelled. With a boosted Special and two soaring blasts of flame, there was no way Roselia could be standing, but maybe it was stronger than it looked. "Beldum, Focus on your defence and slam dunk Marill with a powerful Take Down." Jimmy ordered. Jimmy smiled. This was a great way to test out Houndour's abilities, Jimmy was intrigued to see just how much she had improved now she had mastered Flamethrower. |

The man glared at you before roaring loudly. "Pathetic? PATHETIC? I'm a flower MERCHANT! My entire crop of lillies was eaten by that little runt! There's no fixing dead flowers, you little twerp! Now I won't be able to earn my living this month! I'll show you!" Velix cocked its head and watched the battle unfold from its new hiding place between your legs. It looks like there was no talking the man out of the battle. I can't say I blame him. I'd want to take some revenge on the Velix too. " Marill! Hit the Houndour with two Water Guns! Then wrap it up by using Defense Curl! Roselia, my sweet, hit the Houndour with a Poison Sting, and then smack that Beldum with two Mega Drains!" Houndour hopped into action and instantly began to Focus his energy on his special attack. Beldum followed suit and Focused on hardening his already steely body for tougher defense. Your opponents used this oppurtunity to get a move or two off. Marill focused on your little fire puppy and hit it with a jet of water from its mouth. Houndour took the hit like a champ, but it was obvious the move hurt a lot. Roselia followed up by aiming one of its roses at Houndour and shooting a spray of poisonous needles, smacking your Houndour right in the face. Houndour's knees began to buckle and it coughed a bit. The needles took their toll, and it looked like Houndour was poisoned! Houndour bucked up and opened her mouth, spraying a huge jet of fire towards Roselia's outstretched rose. The grass pokemon took the blast head on and got knocked back. Roselia looked towards Beldum and lept nimbly, brushing a rose against it and absorbing some health with Mega Drain. Beldum shook off the Roselia and blasted towards Marill using the powerful Take Down attack. Marill didn't even have time to duck before getting hit full on in the face. Beldum took some recoil damage, and waited for its next orders. Marill, however, aimed another jet of water towards Houndour, hitting him again with his aqua assault. Houndour was not ready to give up, however, and hit the Roselia once again with Flamethrower. It was surprising that the Roselia was even able to stand after taking those two blows, and in a last ditch effort tried to drain health from Beldum once again. Your type advantage served you well, as the attack did little damage. The last to act was Marill, curling into a ball and boosting his defense by compacting his body. "I don't care if you're a merchant or a king you're still pathetic." Jimmy said as he carefully studied the battlefield. He had to make sure Houndour didn't take too much damage from Marill. "Besides what was you gonna do when you caught it, make it cough up the lillies back up. I doubt that." Jimmy finished, hoping that would shut this flower dweeb up. The last round hadn't exactly gone the way Jimmy had planned but at least Roselia was almost down for the count. Marill however was still standing strong but hopefully not after this round. Jimmy had to make sure Roselia went down and stayed down. Trying to remember what moves Houndour knew and had learnt Jimmy quickly formulated a plan of action that should whittle down Marill's health and take out Roselia. "Right back to work." Jimmy yelled, staring at his opponent. Houndour use Ember to finish off Roselia, next, gas out Marill with a Smog and if you can dodge Marill's water attacks finish up with a Howl. Beldum, concentrate on Marill. Use two Take Down's on Marill, however if for some reason Houndour does not take out Roselia then send a Take Down to finish her off. Got it." Jimmy finished. He wondered how this round would go. He wasn't too worried. Hopefully Beldum would distract Marill enough to take the brunt of water attacks. He wished he could think of a way to avoid Houndour being hit by water attacks. Well actually he wished he would stop having trainer battles where he had a type disadvantage...just one would be nice...but oh well, those were the breaks, and thats what makes a true trainer. |

A look of guilt passed over Velix’s eyes as he watched your Pokemon battle for his safety. He didn’t want to eat all of those lilies, but he was hungry, and there was very little he could do when it came to scavenging for food. Joukai Pass was known to be a difficult place to live, even for some of the most promising Pokemon. It was an area where you had to either become strong in a short amount of time, or become friends with many others, and hope that your combined efforts would save you. The annoyingly weird garden dude was yelling and blasting his mouth off again, but you were able to drown him out as you looked down at the Velix. You could tell that he didn’t mean it, and the way the other guy was ranting about how he wouldn’t be able to make a living only solidified your desire to protect the small Pokemon. Although you had asked for your Houndour to act first, it was actually Beldum who was the first to move. The Marill was still curled into a ball, and although it had a slightly raised defense, it wasn’t able to dodge the powerful Take Down that your Beldum was able to release. Sending the Marill back, the other trainer quickly ordered the water mouse to release a water gun at the Beldum. The torrent of water shot out at Beldum, but with a quick dodge, the water missed by inches and the little water mouse was hit with another powerful take down. Meanwhile, quick pellets of fire shot out at the Roselia, the rose defeated by Houndour. In a moment of triumph, the black dog happily shot out another attack, this time aiming for Marill. Instead of ember, a river of fire zipped towards the water mouse seconds before Beldum hit it with another powerful take down. Both Pokemon were finally defeated. The gardener called his Pokemon back, cursed you, and then ran off, dropping something to the ground in his haste. You walked up to the dropped object and saw that the guy had dropped a Pokeball, obviously unused and yours to claim. After you returned your Pokemon, you turned to the Velix who you had courageously protected. The small fox looked joyful that you helped and, if I’m not mistaken, looked as though he wanted to join your team. Do you want to have a new psychic fox? "Haha thats right you better run." Jimmy shouted. "Some people are just idiots" he muttered under his breath as he picked up the pokeball that his opponent had carelessly dropped. Jimmy looked over at his two pokemon who had thought an amazing battle. "Great job guys, rest up, who knows when I'll need you again." He said as he placed the pokeball into his pocket and retrieved two others that belonged to Houndor and Beldum. Returning them Jimmy shaked his head as he thought how ironic it was that Houndor would be poisoned right after Jimmy gave away his last Pecha Berry to that Velix. "Oh well, no point crying over it...I better get to a pokecenter quickly though. I doubt Houndor can last too long." Jimmy thought as he started back on the route he was taking. Taking a few steps, he realised that the Velix was following closely behind. "You know you can go if you want." Jimmy said as he started walking again. The Velix still continued to follow him. Jimmy sighed and squatted down so he could examine the Velix more closely. "You know you look pretty powerful...you could come with me if you want." Jimmy said, smiling. Velix really did look like a powerful pokemon. It would certainly come in handy in a tight situation...considering his pokemon were pretty worn out already, Jimmy would have a chance to train this thing whilst he travelled to Millenia. "So what do you think? Wanna join my team." Jimmy said, holding out the empty pokeball. |

The Velix looked from you to the Pokeball, and smiled. He rubbed up against the Pokeball and allowed himself to be sucked into it. Looks like you've got a Velix. Just as the Pokeball finished absorbing the little guy, you were back on your way. Hopefully there would be a Pokemon Center nearby or else the poison might get to Houndour. But it was so hard to think about that when the sun was at its peak and the sky was clear. There were very few clouds in the sky and the warm sun shone down on you, warming your skin. Pokemon were frolicking and playing, and there was a light breeze at your back. All was right in the world. Well, all except for Houndour's poison. She probably wouldn't be able to hold on much longer. Luckily for you there was a building on the horizon. You'd recognize the red roof of a Pokemon Center anywhere. You could also see that there were more and more trees along the side of the road as you got closer to it. You must be nearing the Forest of Legends. After a few more minutes of walking you made it to the Pokemon Center, and not a moment too soon, as Houndour was on her last legs here. As you walked up to the counter you looked around. There were quite a few characters here. To your left, you saw two men sitting across from each other in the corner. One would look around every few minutes to make sure nobody was listening in on their conversation. Pretty suspicious if you ask me. Also to your left was a little girl stroking a Ponyta. She looked ecstatic, probably because she had just received her first Pokemon. To your right you could see an old man with a Hitmonchan standing next to him. The old man was sipping on some tea and his Hitmonchan was watching all around him, ever vigilant, as if it were protecting him. Also to your right was a young woman quietly sobbing in the corner of the room. She had no Pokemon with her, but you could see a few Pokeballs attached to her belt. There were some other people in the building, but none of them were interesting enough to take note of, and you quickly disregarded them. When you got to the counter the nurse took your Pokemon to heal them. She paused for a moment, then leaned in and spoke very quietly. "If my supervisor finds out about this he'll kill me, but you have too many Pokemon in your party. Official league rules are that a trainer can have no more than six Pokemon on them at a time. I'm sorry, but you'll have to deposit one of your Pokemon in the PC over there," she pointed to the computer next to the counter. "You're lucky I was the one who caught you. If any of the other nurses here saw they'd confiscate all your Pokemon for a few days as per official league rules. I personally don't see why we need to punish trainers who don't know the rule, so I'll give you a second chance." The nurse returned your Pokemon and looked over at the computer next to the counter, as if you tell you to do it before someone notices. You should probably deposit at least one of your Pokemon to make sure you don't get caught with too many in your party. After you do that you have a few choices. You can go up to one of the interesting looking people in this Pokemon Center, or you could just leave. It's your decision. OOC: If you choose to walk up to one of the people request me for your next ref. Edited by Jsol, Feb 18 2010, 11:45 AM.
