The nurse took your pokemon, glad that for once someone didn't ask her to do what she was paid to do. But she was also shocked. She didn't usually get people who just placed their pokemon on the counter silently. She was intrigued. When she handed back your pokemon to you she started speaking. "I noticed you didn't ask me to heal your pokemon, you just expected me to. While most other nurses would take this as rudeness, I see it as simple reasoning. I am paid to work here, so it's expected I will heal your pokemon no matter whether you ask me to do it or not. The asking is simply patronizing." She was pretty deep for a nurse. She looked at the clock. "My shift is over now, would you like to chat, maybe go for a little walk?" Well, she certainly was friendly. Maybe she could help you train. I mean, she must have pokemon of her own. And even if it was just the standard issue Chansey, Chansey have high defenses and health, so they would be good to practice and train on. The nurse looked really hopeful to get a chance to talk to somebody who didn't patronize her by acting all curious when all they wanted was their pokemon healed. It wouldn't be nice to just ignore her request and leave, now would it? Besides, she seemed nice enough. You saw several men in the corner of the Pokemon Centre looking over to you and the nurse and laughing. They looked to be in their late teens, not much older than you probably. After a moment one of them walked over and put his shoulder on the counter, resting against it. He looked seductively at the nurse and started talking to her while looking her body over, checking her out. "Hey babe. My pokemon don't need healing but I've got an ache somewhere else. Maybe you could kiss it better." The piggish man moved his eyebrows up and down flirtatiously. The nurse just rolled her eyes. "If it needs kissing that badly then why don't you go find a Smoochum? Or was that how it got hurt in the first place?" The man's friends burst out laughing at this point. The man, not wanting to be made a fool of, scowled and stomped back to his seat in the corner, thoroughly embarrassed. The nurse just looked back at you. "Morons. We get a few of them a day, it's no big deal really. So, how about that walk?" She looked at you hopefully. At this point you noticed the men had all left. What could the harm be in taking a short walk with a Nurse Joy? OOC: If you accept her offer, then request me for a few more refs, I have an idea for a brief plot. If not then feel free to request anyone else. |

Jimmy took back his pokemon and placed them in his pocket. He looked around but couldn't see his opponent anywhere. He had seen him enter the pokemon centre. Guess he had decided to leave, without even a goodbye. "Heh how rude." Jimmy thought to himself. It was at this point that Jimmy noticed the nurse was talking to him, something about going on a walk. All Jimmy wanted was his pokemon back, why did the nurse suddenly decide he had nothing better to do than spend his time talking with people he didn't even know. If she wanted to battle him that was a difefrent story. Jimmy was always looking for a chance to strengthen his team. He may as well talk to to her and swing the conversation into a way that he can start a battle. "Hmph fine." Jimmy answered the Nurse. He prepared to leave with her when some random guy came up to her and started flirting...badly. It was embarrasing. Jimmy didn't do anything to stop him though. The Nurse looked like she could handle herself fine enough. And this guy didn't look very strong. If his battling skills were as good as his lady skills, Jimmy wouldn't even break a sweat if this guy started something. Like he suspected though the Nurse soon put the guy in his place and he backed off, eventually disappearing with his friends. "Why I do get the feeling this isn't the last I've seen of them." Jimmy thought to himself. "Oh well." Jimmy then noticed that the Nurse was ready to leave, so he made sure he was ready and started walking out of the pokemon centre. He didn't stop to wait for her, he knew she was coming and Jimmy wanted to get out of this place. |

You began to walk out of the centre and the nurse quickly followed you. She let her hair down on the way out, letting the pink hair fall to her knees. She took off her nurse hat and placed it on the hook as you left. You noticed she didn't wear the normal Nurse Joy uniform. She was in a simple pair of jeans and a pink t-shirt. She had a belt with about three pokeballs. You two left and started walking down the road. On the way she started talking. "Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking. Crazy Nurse Joy wants to stalk you and steal your kidneys while you sleep, blah, blah, blah. Well, Hate to burst your bubble, but that's not happening, bub. One, I'm not a full time nurse. It's just a temp job until I can make enough money to leave this town. I want to explore, but I need money to do it. So, here I am. Oh, and for your information my name isn't Joy like my title says, it's Sarah." Well, that was all well and good, but that didn't really explain why she wanted to talk to you. As if she read your mind, she answered that question. "The reason I wanted to talk to you is because you seem like a strong trainer, and I really need to train my pokemon. If I want to become a famous trainer I have to start somewhere. I have these three pokemon which belonged to my father. When he passed away he left them for me." You two reached an abandoned parking lot and Sarah released her three pokemon. Three flashes of red, and three pokemon. A Baltoy, a Slugma, and a Meditite. "Well, here's my pokemon. We gonna battle, or what?" This was certainly not what you'd expect a Nurse Joy, even a temp one, to have as pokemon. Well, you wanted to train, so now you can train. [OOC - You want me to still request you right?] As Jimmy walked he listened to what the Nurse was saying to him. A Nurse Joy called Sarah, that was certainly interesting. He didn't even have to speak really. The Nurse just kept going on and on at him. Jimmy let out a yawn but it didn't seem like she noticed as she kept on talking rather than the normal female remark, which was. "Sorry am I boring you." This Nurse certainly wasn't like other nurses though. She actually wanted a battle. Jimmy didn't think Nurse Joys (Sarah in this case) enjoyed battling. Then again, she was only a temp. "A battle huh?" Jimmy started as he found himself in an abandoned parking lot with the Nurse. She looked ready to battle and had already released her pokemon. "Like I have a choice." Jimmy smiled to himself as he withdrew three pokeballs. "Better give it all you got though...'cos I'm not holding back" Jimmy yelled the last part as he threw his three pokeballs into the air and let Grimer and Houndour land on the ground in front of him. They took up their battle stances and awaited their orders. Beldum burst out of it's pokeball and floated above Jimmy's shoulder. Maybe it was because of it's quick defeat in the last battle that Beldum wasn't ready to hit the front lines. Oh well. As soon as Jimmy gave an order Beldum would follow it. "Ready guys?" Jimmy yelled. "Houndour use Howl to raise your power, then use Leer on that Slugma. After that Grimer use Sludge, then use Harden. Beldum I want you to use Focus to raise your attack, then hit hard with a Take Down on that Slugma." Jimmy ordered. Another fire type pokemon...just his luck. He wasn't going to let Beldum be taken out by Slugma. "Houndour, if that Slugma uses any fire type moves, rush in and take the hit, got it?" Jimmy finished up. With the Flash Fire ability, Houndour wouldn't only protect Beldum, he would also get HP back. It was a win-win situation. As for the other two pokemon, they weren't that important. Once Slugma was dealt with, Jimmy would have no problems taking them out. |

Knocking them down one at a time, eh? Good strategy. Except you totally ignored the other pokemon's strengths over yours. Sarah nervously gave her first orders. "Baltoy, use Mud Slap on the Houndour, and Confusion on the Grimer." Hey Baltoy spun around a bit then dove at Houndour, stopping sharply to cause a glob of mud to get thrown right into her eyes. She wasn't expecting the attack and it was pretty painful. It also left her accuracy lowered. She shook his head then howled into the air, raising her attack strength. She dropped her head and fiercely glared at Slugma, just barely seeing the red fiery sludge. Grimer didn't know who you wanted him to use Sludge on, but since everyone was attacking Slugma that's who he decided was his target. He leaned back to toss a glob of poisonous muck and tossed it hard. It sailed through the air and was on its way to hitting Slugma. Just as he threw it, though, Baltoy assaulted his mind with a powerful Confusion. Grimer started convulsing a bit but it died down after a moment. Luckily he wasn't confused. He hardened his skin after the mental attack ended. "Slugma, use Acid Armor. Then use Ember on the Beldum." Slugma did as she was told and her body was covered in a very thick gooey red material. The Sludge hit it and it did some damage but not as much as it would have. Then, just as Beldum went in for the Take Down, Slugma used Ember! Houndour tried to intercept but was blocked. "Meditite, strike him in the leg!" Meditite hopped to his feet and dove at Houndour, swiping at her leg. Houndour tripped from the attack, though she wasn't very hurt by it. Beldum charged full force at Slugma, determined to bash her. But then the Ember came. It hit Beldum straight on! One might have thought this would've deterred Beldum, but no. It didn't want to disappoint you again, so it just kept on charging! Due to Slugma's Acid Armor she was better protected from the attack, but Beldum's power and determination made up the difference (well, the focus on its attack helped too). Beldum bashed right into Slugma! Once the attack connected it floated back over to you. It was pretty hurt but determined to win. Overall this round probably didn't go as you would've hoped. Maybe you should try a different strategy. It wasn't the most succesful round but Jimmy wasn't worried. It was just a simple matter of changing his attack pattern. He wanted to get rid of that Slugma as soon as possible so he had launched all his attacks towards it. That was only going to end up with Jimmy's pokemon defeated as Sarah seemed to have some sort of skill when it came to battling. Jimmy had to admit he was impressed. "Well well you're better than I thought. I must admit I thought I was going to have to take it easy on you. No more though, I'm gonna give it my all this round." Jimmy yelled. He was still pretty confident that he was going to win. One bad round wasn't enough to make Jimmy give up hope. "Guys get close" Jimmy yelled. His pokemon retreated back to Jimmy's side so that he could instruct them without his opponent hearing. "We're going to attack all three of them now you got it?" Jimmy started as his pokemon patiently awaited their orders. "Grimer go after that Meditite. His punches and kicks should hardly hurt your sludgy exterior. Use Poison Gas, then use Sludge. Houndour you're going to do battle with Slugma. Use Howl, then Tackle, keep it up. Stick to your target and absorb any Fire type moves it may try to use. Beldum take Baltoy. Use Focus to raise your Defence, then hit hard with Take Down. Start spinning as you draw near to try and do extra damage. Houndour whatever you do make sure you stay focused on Slugma. Don't let any of your targets out of your sight, got it guys?" Jimmy finished. He watched as his pokemon began to execute their moves. This round better go well. He could afford another bad round but he needed to do a decent amount of damage if his pokemon wanted to stay in the game. |

Well, changing it up, eh? Good idea. Sarah saw that you'd given your orders in secret but she didn't look too worried. "Everybody, defend against their attacks accordingly. Try to confuse them! Everybody have each other's backs." Telling them to just do what they thought was best? Well, I can see how that could be good, giving the pokemon the chance to act on instinct rather than orders given by a human. Houndour, the fastest of your trio, acted first. Now, she doesn't know Tackle really, but she does know how to Strike an opponent in a tackling movement. She ran forward and howled as she went, rising her attack even more than it was before. She charged forward and saw that Baltoy and Meditite were going to block her from Striking their friend. Suddenly, she slowed down, and Baltoy and Meditite bashed into each other comically. Houndour snickered then continued her charge. She bashed right into Sulgma! But Slugma was prepared. She'd used another Acid Armor to raise her defense. Houndour slammed into her but it didn't really do as much as you may have hoped. Beldum was up next. As Houndour went in for the Strike, it closed its eyes and felt its skin harden and solidify. It was feeling much more confident with its defensive abilities, and so it moved back a bit. It then charged forward with bullet speed! Meditite and Baltoy had separated and were moving around the battlefield in anticipation of any attack. Beldum flew toward Baltoy and Meditite tried to help his friend. But he was stopped by a gaseous cloud of purple smog. It was Poison Gas! Grimer had waited for the perfect moment to execute his commands. After Meditite stopped coughing and was back on track to stop Beldum in mid-Take Down, he was hit again! This time by a glob of Sludge. Meditite was pissed. He forgot all about Beldum chasing Baltoy. He ran forward and punched right into Grimer's...well, I;m not sure what it was really. But the fist did next to no damage. In fact it it stuck! Grimer smiled at Meditite but he was confused when Meditite smiled as well. Suddenly it all became clear. Meditite faintly glowed purplish pink. After about a second Grimer started squealing and flailing uncontrollably. Meditite's fist was released from the gooey body and the Confusion attack ended. Grimer's head was rattled. Two Confusions in a row aren't that good for the brain. Grimer was disoriented and confused. But wait, aren't we forgetting something? Beldum and Baltoy! Well, Baltoy was spinning fast and running away from Beldum's Take Down. But Beldum wasn't giving up. Slugma tried to hit him with another Ember, but Houndour intercepted it, heithening her power with fire type attacks. Eventually Baltoy slowed a bit and Beldum used this to his advantage. He was about a foot away from Baltoy when he sharply curved. He started spinning wildly and then DONG! Bashed right into Baltoy! If you've ever played baseball with an aluminum bat, then you'll know the sound Beldum made when he crashed into Baltoy. If not, then it's a hollow yet lucid thud that rings in your ears. Baltoy was dazed. He was wobbling and exhausted. Beldum was pretty tired too but he was hanging in there. He didn't suffer as much recoil due to his heightened defense. Houndour felt rejuvenated by the Ember she absorbed, but not healed. No, she felt as though she could create a more powerful Ember herself. Grimer was confused and wandering around in a daze, but he'd done well considering he'd been hit with two Confusions. Sarah's pokemon were in somewhat decent condition. Slugma wasn't hurting too badly from the Strike due to her Acid Armor, but she was still the slow sludge-like snail that she was. Baltoy was exhausted and in lots of pain. He even forgot to attack that round. Meditite was coughing from the poison and wiping Sludge off of his face. Looks like this battle is more evened out than before. Jimmy stepped back as he witnessed Meditite's Confusion attack. "Dammit!" Jimmy thought to himself. "Thats one of the worst situations I can be in." Jimmy continued to himself. Confusion status was a team killer. Grimer could end up knocking out Jimmy's entire team by mistake. Jimmy wasn't going to let that happen. There had to be something he could do that could calm down the Confused Grimer. He wasn't going to simply return it and release it again. That was the cowards way out. No there had to be something else he could do. He could always order Grimer to attack and pray its confusion still allows him to attack his opponents. But his team were in pretty bad shape. They couldn't take a hit from Grimer and their opponent. No, Jimmy had to take out that Meditite so that it couldn't continue to confuse...but how? Jimmy looked to Sarah and smiled. It was a confident smile. He was still certain of his victory. "That was a good move I have to admit. But it won't be enough to beat me. Grimer knows better than to attack me you hear? I'm going to show you how powerful my team really is." Jimmy yelled as his eyes burned with a passion. Battling was what he lived for. Even though the odds were against him, Jimmy would use every advantage he had at this moment to take the lead in this fight. Looking around the battlefield, what did Jimmy have that he could use. He had a wide open space thanks to the fact they were fighting in an abandoned car park. And Houndour's next attack would hit at 150% damage. And that was without the powerup she already had. Thats where Jimmy would take the lead. He was going to launch an almighty offensive against Meditite with Houndour. Grimer could take Slugma himself. "Houndour this is going to be a tough round for you hear? I want you to use Leer on Meditite, then Howl to increase your power further. Then I want you to put your energy into an Ember. BURN MEDITITE TO THE GROUND!! Jimmy yelled. Lets see. Houndour had already gathered power twice thanks to Howl, another one would further increase her power. Then reducing Meditite's defence would make her attack even more deadly. With the Flash Fire increasing Houndour's next fire attack. This move was going to be devastating. There was no way Meditite should be able to survive. Next Jimmy turned to his other two pokemon, Beldum and Grimer. "Now then you two. Great job so far. This round will be difficult for you too. Beldum, great job last round. Again, use Focus to raise your Defence. Then charge after Blatoy with a Take Down. It's not powerful enough to hurt you. Just watch out for Slugma. Grimer I want you to attack that Slugma with Sludge, then use Harden. You WILL attack that Slugma Grimer, you hear me? You WILL attack Slugma" Jimmy finished. He hoped that by shouting that at Grimer it would get through to Grimer and he would follow Jimmy's instructions, despite the Confusion. This round could well decide the outcome of this battle. It was all on Houndour. Edited by killaz, Apr 18 2009, 10:57 AM.

Well, you were quite enthusiastic about Houndour's attack. With her heightened attack stat and Meditite's lowered defense, it should be a cakewalk, especially with Houndour's strengthened fire power. Unfortunately for you Ember uses special stats, not physical, so the stat boosters won't do much of anything here. Still, the higher fire strength will be good. And Meditite looks pretty freaked from that BURN MEDITITE TO THE GROUND comment. Houndour stood her ground then leered fiercely at Meditite, who shook from fear. He dropped his defenses a bit. Then she howled loudly and powerfully. Her strength boosted and she felt more confident with her attacks. Finally, she let her inner flames out. She opened her mouth and five large fiery balls flew out. They collided with Meditite, who was just sitting there, taking it. The damage was clearly visible. His skin was burnt and he struggled to stand up. But he still just stood there, perfectly still. Well, he's a fighting and psychic type, so he must have insane discipline. But that burn looked bad. As for your other pokemon, let's focus on Beldum for now. He did the same thing as before, concentrating on his defense, and felt his skin harden. He looked around for Baltoy and found him spinning away from him. "Baltoy, run get away from him!" He charged after the spinning doll and chased him around. Eventually, Baltoy stopped sharply in front of Grimer and shot a glob of mud at him. Grimer was quite damaged by this attack, but it was the perfect opportunity for Beldum to slam into him with another spinning Take Down! Baltoy was smacked hard in the back of his head, a critical hit! He was dazed and wobbled a bit before continuing his spinning to keep his balance. He spun around a bit and collided with Grimer just as he shot a Sludge out. It flew through the air and smacked right onto Slugma! But Baltoy's Rapid Spin had caused him to forget his second order. He knew he had to hit Slugma, so he just shot out another Sludge. Another hit, but this time Slugma was prepared. Shed used yet another Acid Armor, really heightening her defense. "Slugma, use another Ember on the Beldum!" Slugma looked for Beldum and shot an Ember. Houndour, being the wonderful pokemon she is, ran and again intercepted the attack! Now her fire power was double it's normal strength! Another Ember or two at Meditite should take him out. But why wasn't he moving? He must be doing something. I'd take him out quickly if i were you. The battle was going well in Jimmy's favour. The only problem he had right now was the fact that Grimer had next to no HP left. Actually that wasn't much of a problem as Jimmy still had a Super Potion left at his disposal, thanks to his former opponent, who decided it would be a good idea to give him a handful of potions before their battle... "Oh well, might as well use it." Jimmy thought to himself as he pulled the Potion out of his pocket and held it in his hand, waiting for a good opportunity to use it. He didn't like using potions as they made him feel weak, then again, his opponents were several levels higher than him so he should be expected to need a little boost. Jimmy put his fingers to his mouth and whistled loudly, beckoning Grimer to come to his side. Jimmy sprayed the potion over his Grimer, making sure he used the whole potion so as to get the full effect from it. Next Jimmy would need to form a half decent attack plan so that he could take out Baltoy, who didn't seem to have much left. "Houndour use Ember on Baltoy!!" Jimmy yelled. With double damage at his disposal Ember should do the job...but Jimmy wasn't prepared to take that chance, and his pokemon still had plenty of energy to launch more attacks. "Beldum use Take Down on Baltoy after Houndour has used Ember." Jimmy continued as he watched the battlefirld carefully, wondering what his opponent had planned for him. "Houndour once thats done I want you to use Ember on Meditite, got it?" Jimmy continued, he would need to take out Meditite next so as to avoid further confusion to his pokemon. "And Beldum, if Baltoy is defeated I want you to chase after Meditite with a Take Down, however if Baltoy is still somehow alive, knock it with Take Down again." Jimmy finished. He hoped this round would go well. It could well be the turning point. |

When the stars stop shining, dreams will shatter before your eyes. Know that you're not alone!

Sarah smiled. Things were going badly for her, but for some reason, she liked it. She put her hand on her hip, and rested her chin on her hand. She was probably thinking of something a little more on the defensive, as her offensive strategies were not working very well. She tapped her foot, trying to get her brain working. A moment later, her smile broadened, she had thought of a plan! She looked at her Pokémon, and started giving out orders. “Alright, Baltoy, I want you to use harden, and then confusion on whatever comes near, if you are in the clear, hit Grimer. Get by Slugma.” Baltoy spun once, understanding the orders. “Meditite, you are fine, just keep your cool, and get ready.” She looked at Slugma. “Now, you, we have bigger plans for you my dear.” Slugma moved back and forth, keeping his magma from hardening. “I want you to protect both yourself and Baltoy, when somebody gets close, use Smog and Ember together like we practiced!” Baltoy quickly moved over to Slugma, who seemed to be charging his makeshift attack. Houndour and Beldum rushed towards Baltoy, who was hardening his stature. Beldum floated over, about to take down Baltoy when suddenly an enormous amount of flame came from Slugma’s mouth, pushing the metal guy away, causing a nice amount of damage. Slugma continued to try to keep the flame going, but it was getting weaker, and before Houndour could get in its way, it was already out. What was going on here? Sarah winked. “Good job Slugma, that flamethrower was great!” she chimed. Flamethrower? Whoa, it seemed that she had been teaching him flamethrower at one point, and she picked it back up again! Beldum was on the ground, that flamethrower wasn’t at full power, but it still hurt. Getting up, it started to charge towards Baltoy again, who had gone untouched this round so far. Grimer went back into battle, though he was at full health, he couldn’t do anything about the confusion coming. Getting hit, it moved its head back. People seemed to love picking on poor Grimer with that move, but it was a small price to pay. Houndour aimed at Baltoy, and used Ember, hitting him directly but even with the power boost it still wasn’t very effective. Running over to Meditite, he also shot an ember at him, hitting him easily. Meditite took the damage, but kept focusing, and started to glow. Meanwhile, Beldum quickly moved back toward Baltoy, but right when he was going to try take down again, Slugma intercepted him! Though Slugma had taken damage, Beldum got stuck inside of Slugma, and was getting burned by his flame body! Beldum got out okay, but the damage had already been done. Today was not a good day for it, it looked like it was just about to pass out. Sarah jumped up, her plans had worked perfect, and she giggled in glee. Hm, well this round could have gone better, lots of damage was dealt, but the odds were still about even. This battle was just a round or two from victory, you just had to think outside the box, and catch her off guard. Jimmy looked up to the sky. He pressed his hand to his forehead and started laughing. "This is what I've been looking for!" Jimmy yelled as he quickly faced Sarah. "A battle that actually provides me with a challenge. And everything has gone exactly as I planned it...except for a few minor inconveniences, but there's no need to worry about them." Jimmy said, as he calmed down and prepared his next move. Sarah was definitely a powerful opponent and he should not take her so lightly. She had obviously been training her pokemon well if Slugma was almost able to use Flamethrower...but the key word there was ALMOST. Slugma had not perfected this technique yet and as a result it was more tired out than usual and the attack was less effective...but it had dealt a fair share of damage to Beldum. "Maybe I should keep him out of it from now on." Jimmy thought to himself. "Okay Meditite is obviously using Bide that much is certain...oh well it can't last long...not with poison and burn inflicted on it. It would take a mere tap from any of my pokemon to knock out the annoying pest." Jimmy said, speaking out loud so that Sarah could hear him. "I suppose I should send Beldum in for one final assault" Jimmy yelled. He knew Sarah would send in Slugma to deal a finishing blow of her own...thats where he would strike. Using Beldum's natural Telekinetic abilities, Jimmy sent a message across, hoping Beldum could hear it. "Beldum I'm going to order you to charge forward for a Take Down. What I really want is for you to start chaging forward. As soon as her Slugma makes a move, pull up and out of the way and let Houdour intercept. He will take care of the rest. As you pull up, turn and focus on Meditite. KNOCK IT OUT!!" Jimmy finished. He hoped Beldum had heard the message. It certainly should have done. "Okay Beldum, I want you to use Take Down on that Meditite." Jimmy said calmly. He hoped Beldum would follow his real instructions. Now for the rest of his team. "Grimer I want you to use Sludge on that Baltoy. That should be more than enough to take it out, y'hear?" Jimmy ordered as he put his hands in his pocket and casually looked up at the sky. Now it was time for Houndour "Houndour, watch the battlefield carefully" Jimmy started as he waited for his pokemon to be free from his opponents last assault. "As soon as Slugma goes to attack, intercept Beldum, take it out." Jimmy yelled. He began to laugh again, but it was more maniacal, he was completely lost in the moment. "SARAH YOU WANNA SEE WHAT A FLAMETHROWER REALLY LOOKS LIKE!!" He yelled as he continued to laugh uncontrollably. "I'M GONNA BURN EVERYTHING HERE TO THE GROUND!!" He screamed, knowing that with Houndour's increased fire power, teaching Flamethrower now may be to his advantage. "HOUNDOUR!! BUILD UP ALL THE FIRE ENERGY YOU HAVE GATHERED AND STORED THIS BATTLE!! LOOK DEEP DOWN AND GATHER THAT EXTRA ENERGY I KNOW YOU HAVE INSIDE YOU!!" Jimmy yelled, settling down, looking a lot more serious. "And when the time comes...Flamethrower!!" "Well Sarah, lets see who the real master of fire is" Jimmy thought to himself, as he waited patiently for his plan to fall into place. |

Whoa, somebody's a little over dramatic. Sarah didn't seem to mind though. She just giggled at your little performance. You Pokemon were a little shaken up, and so were hers. But soon everyone regained composure and began to follow their orders. Beldum started to charge for the Take Down, Grimer was winding up for the Sludge, and Houndour was building up fire energy for the Flamethrower. Everything was going according to plan. Sadly, you didn't account for the human factor. "Alright guys, this is it. Meditite, release your Bide on Houndour, Baltoy, focus on your speed and follow him, intercepting any attacks! Slugma, your Flamethrower was excellent. This time, use Smog, but use Ember at the same time, so the fire goes everywhere! It should hit all three opponents." A Smog Ember hybrid attack? That certainly was something new. Well, I don't think anyone was expecting that, but hopefully you're Pokemon can adapt. Hopefully. First, Meditite took off. All his bottled up energy and pain was released in this one final blast. Baltoy took off after him, speeding fast, winding in front of him ready to intercept any attack. Grimer shot his Sludge, but due to his confusion he totally missed and hit Houndour instead. It wasn't very damaging, but it was annoying. Houndour simply watched, alert for the final strike coming towards her. Meanwhile, Beldum was waiting for the chance to perform his orders. He heard the orders you mentally sent him and was waiting for the right moment. He Waited for a second...two seconds...three.....Dive! He shot into the fray like a bullet! He slammed hard into the body of his opponent. He was hurt hard by the recoil, but he had just enough health to stay afloat. He looked up and saw the body of...Baltoy! He missed! He turned around and saw Meditite dive for Houndour. Just that moment, Slugma released her Smog Ember hybrid attack. It all happened in slow motion. Or at least that's how it seemed to happen. The hybrid attack worked perfectly. It must've been practiced. The floating particles of gas had merged with the heat from the Ember and the whole battlefield was covered in a poisonous hot veil. Beldum was hit by this and it was too much for him. He dropped. Grimer wasn't very effected by it, but enough to harm him slightly. Houndour, on the other hand, absorbed the heat. Looks like her attack had worked out for you in the end. Then it happened. Meditite was an inch away from Houndour. Suddenly, she opened her maws, and from within came a powerful burst of flame! The Embers she had stored away mixed with the fire she absorbed allowed for a massive blast to be fired! It knocked Meditite right in the face and threw him into Slugma. The fiery Pokemon was hurt by this quite a bit, but she was still standing. Houndour was exhausted by the effort. It wasn't quite a Flamethrower (more of a Fire Blast really), but it was a start. She'd need to learn how to keep the flame in a steady stream, and more importantly, how to perform the attack without first absorbing flames from the opponent. Overall I think this was a pretty good round for you. It's two on one now in your favour. Grimer was still confused, but he'd manage. Houndour was strong but tired. Slugma was noticeably weakening. The next round could end it all. Jimmy enlarged a pokeball and smiled as he returned Beldum to it's pokeball. Beldum had served it's purpose and had done magnificently. He would be sure to reward him later. For the time being Jimmy had to focus on the task at hand. "I shouldn't have taken her so lightly I guess." Jimmy said to himself. He was determined to win this battle and with only one pokemon to deal with, that shouldn't be much of a problem. But he should tread with caution. Grimer was confused still, so he could end up turning against Jimmy, at least until confusion wore off. Now then what could he do to ensure a victory. His pokemon were tired from battling, but then again, so was hers. Jimmy was pleased with how well Houndour had coped with attempting a Flamethrower. He had just randomly decided to teach it to her just to prove to Sarah that she wasn't the only one who could move tutor. "Why so competitive right?" Jimmy thought to himself. He smiled as he calmed himself down from his previous outburst. "I think I got too caught up in battle. Better not let that happen again." He continued to think to himself. "I guess I should launch an all out-offensive...that would probably finish things up. Or I could try a combo move of some sort. I can't copy her one, so I'll try a tag-team combo" Jimmy finished, as ideas raced through his mind of possible combos. "I wonder if Harden and Ember would have the effect I want?" Jimmy said queitly. He didn't want to risk it so he decided to come up with a better strategy. "Alright guys heres the plan. Houndour, great job last round. Store up your fire energy like last time. Use the Flash Fire technique to keep your fire power boosted. Now I want you to release a strong, constant supply of flame. Concentrate on Slugma, and don't lose focus y'hear. I want you to attempt another Flamethrower. But this time when you release the fire, keep it flowing. Use as much energy as you need to to keep the flames flowing." Jimmy yelled out. Hopefully Houndour could manage to keep the flames burning long enough for Grimer to recover from confusion. "Grimer, time to snap out of it. I know you've been struck with confusion, but can you recognise my voice? You will not attack Houndour again you got that. I want you to use Harden then use Sludge, you got that?" Jimmy ordered. He doubted his plan would work, but it was worth a try. Heck if it did work, he could have a powerful new move right there. The plan was for Grimer to use Harden and launch his Sludge. If used Harden, would the balls of Sludge be hardened and therefore stronger? Or would they remain the same and Grimer would just gain an increased defence. Oh well, only time will tell. |

Phasing Flashback Defender Vigilance

“Alright, Slugma, you're the only one left,” said Sarah as she recalled the other two Pokemon. “Fire attacks aren't gonna work against that Houndour, so we're going to try something a little different. Use smog on Houndour, and then try an Ember at that Grimer, while it's still confused”, called out Sarah to her last remaining Pokemon. If they were going to go down, they were going to go down fighting. Both Houndour and Slugma took in a deep breath. Slugma was the first to exhale, releasing a noxious cloud of discolored gas that quickly enveloped its target. Houndour's eyes watered as it was forced to breathe in the toxic gas. The malicious fog attacked the pup's exposed mouth and nose. It reached into the its body and gnawed away at its lungs. But, Houndour held out, trying to concentrate the fire energy he had absorbed using his Flash Fire ability. She opened her mouth and great stream of fire erupted from it. It tore through the smog, incinerating whatever poison stubbornly clung to the air. But, the power was too much for the inexperienced dog to control. Her jaw was forced to open wider, allowing a spray of heat, embers and fire to escape. The neat stream of flames that had lasted less than a second was quickly lost to a chaotic torrent of heat. This, too, quickly faded away. It would still need a lot more practice before it would be able to control the powerful flames. The attack wasn't a complete failure. The flames, in all their wild ferocity, slammed into Slugma. Not even its type resistance could protect it against the entirety of it for the sheer power of the attack. The slug shut its eyes and turned its face away from the oncoming wave of flames and embers. Whatever part of its body had been left to harden from its still position quickly melted. It was even pushed back a few inches by the force of the blow. It blinked in surprise as the attack faded away, and all that was left was a heavily panting Houndour. She was far too busy catching her breath to do anything more to Slugma at the moment, so it turned its attention to Grimer. Speaking of Grimer, what had the ball of purple slime been doing this entire time? Well, it hadn't been doing much. Despite your best attempts to make your commands clear and simple, Grimer was still left very confounded at your words. It's not that it didn't hear or wasn't listening. Far from it. Your Pokemon had its full attention on you as you spoke. Unfortunately, due to its mental state, the poor lump of goo was still left bewildered. So, with the best intentions in mind, Grimer had done absolutely nothing until now. With a mighty gurgling yell, Grimer went into action. It threw a large glob of Sludge in the direction of the Slugma. The projectile made contact and splattered over the slug's face just as it was preparing its Ember. With its mouth covered in muck, the Slugma was forced to halt its own attack for fear of hurting itself. Grimer threw another ball of Sludge at its opponent, which, once again, hit its target. Unfortunately for some, but not for you, that was all the abuse that the Slugma could take. It glanced sadly at its trainer before allowing its body to slump down into and unconscious red puddle. Sarah smiled, saying “Good job Slugma” She recalled the little Pokemon into its ball before clasping it to her belt. “Well,” she began, speaking to you now, “Looks like I was right. You are a tough trainer. I guess it's back to the Center with me. Now I've gotta get a nurse to heal my Pokemon. Imagine that. Anyway, thanks for the practice.” She finished with a sincere smile before turning away. Suddenly she stopped and turned back to face you. “Actually,” she said as she walked closer, “There's going to be a tournament soon. Since you're so good with your Pokemon, maybe you'd like to enter. I've got a flier for it right here.” She pulled a folded piece of paper out of her pocket and handed it to you. You took the flier and unfolded it. It had been kept in good condition and the vibrant words were clear on the page. Just as she had said, the flier was for a tournament, The Tournament of Aegis!
“Well, I'll be going now”, Sarah said before departing. You watched her go on her way to the Pokemon Center. Your Pokemon were also quite beat up. Perhaps your own trip to the Center would be appropriate. They would have to be in top condition if you wanted to compete in the tournament. Even if you didn't wish to participate, it was still a dangerous world out there, and it would be much better to have a team of fully able Pokemon. Either way, it was your choice to make.
