Well, luckily, the bridge your Aron had been chewing on was scheduled to be demolished and rebuilt anyway, so nobody seemed to be upset about the gaps in the foundation. So therefore, you were free to start your epic Pokemon Journey without any problems of a criminal record hovering over your shoulder.

Millenia was full of tourists today. But that was for a good reason. It was a perfect day for spending at the beach, either sunbathing in the glorious sunlight streaming from the clear blue sky, or hunting for wild Pokemon on the rockier areas. But since there were an awful lot of bikini-clad girls sunbathing, playing volleyball, splashing in the surf... maybe you plan to drop by there, at least for a few minutes.

In fact, the town is full of people in summery clothing, all enjoying the heat, helping themselves liberally from ice-cream vendors, shopping, looking at gardens... just enjoying the day. One of the aforementioned vendors had a Snorunt casting Powder Snow on his stock to keep it frozen, and to entertain his customers.

There was a group of kids running up and down the street, some Pokemon racing with them. They looked like they might be holding some sort of racing contest... or just burning off some steam until they found someone who might want to battle. They'd probably be quite eager for a friendly battle, if you were so inclined.

There were plenty of plesant sorts of parks and open areas in Millenia, and the wild Pokemon appreciated it. If you didn't want to try the beach, maybe you could try your luck at finding a wild Pokemon right in the city.

Al'right, al'right...al'right.

The little watch on his wrist's icon of his Corsola was still shaking. He only just realized what the hell this thing was for, and had assumed a wrist-borne egg timer was some kinda cruel joke about becoming a man with your trainer's license, but the included features where now making his heart jump. This is why Pokemon agreed to work with Trainers in the first place! Human ingenuity and technology made more amazing things possible, right? His right hand readjusted his watch strap while he watched the battle unfold in front of him.

Corsola's nudging of Aron made him bite his own lip, shaking his head, slightly. If Corsola was confused by that battle move of the Wingull, there was no telling how long it would last, was there? And if Aron got it, too...well, he'd probably have to withdraw and run. Losing his first Pokemon battle to a couple of jerk seagulls?

"Aron! Hit it again!" As far as he knew, that Iron Head technique would be slamming for far more damage than just tackle, right? Maybe if he wore one down enough to flee, the brother would go, too. "Corsola! C'mon. Tackle it!"

Still, his breath was catching itself in his chest, making him almost feel dizzy, as he shifted his position to keep both of his beasts in eyesight, yet still far enough away to prevent himself from coming to more injury. He was already thinking ahead---Corsola was already injured, but Aron was fine. If Corsola hurt itself in its confusion, then he'd be in trouble, and if those two Wingull focused fire, well, he'd still be toast. It was almost annoying that the flying rat things seemed to be better at this than he was.

Even if it was their entire lives.

"I know you can do it, guys!"

When the stars stop shining, dreams will shatter before your eyes. Know that you're not alone!
Well, well, well. What do we have here? Thoughts about running away? How cowardly! I mean, how hard could these Pokémon be? They are just two rats with feathers and the ability to shoot water out of their mouths. Ew. Either way, these Pokémon could be a walk in the park, if they would just man up and get their asses down to your level! If only, If only. Maybe your luck will change? Though that doesn’t necessarily mean it would change for the better…

Both the Wingull circled your Pokémon carefully, though it was hard for them to open their broken beaks, it wasn’t impossible. In fact, they had just gotten the idea to try it. Without even moving his mouth, Wingull #1 sprayed his watergun, and that’s exactly what it did. Sprayed. There was only a little gap, and the water evened out throughout the gap and sprayed the water over your Pokémon. Aron did not enjoy this shower, got into a fetal-like position, to try to avoid the water, but that obviously didn’t work out too well. Corsola, who was fine with the water shower, took this moment to attack. Using Aron as a stepping stool, she jumped up on him, then up in the air, and clipped one of the birds with one of her spikes. The water had stopped, and Wingull #1 was on the ground.

Aron, noticing that the water had stopped, quickly got up to see that the rat with wings was currently within reach. She happily ran over there, head down, and gave it a Iron head, direct hit! Woot! Though, everything comes at a price, and unfortunately for little Aron, the second Wingull swooped right down behind him, and gave him a water spray at close range. She took all the water at once, and flopped over, not knocked out, but hurting badly. Uh oh. Dang it, why did there have to be two of them!? Corsola tried to take advantage of the Wingull being down, with a tackle attack, but by the time he got there, the stupid thing was already back in the air.

Hm, that little stepping plan seemed to work well. Maybe you could try it again? Or at least something similar? The Wingull were mocking you, their flying abilities were quite an advantage against two Pokémon with no ranged attacks. Though, it was pretty obvious that the first Wingull was about to go down, it would be a good idea to get him first. Though, you might want to be careful, Aron wasn’t in great shape either.

"Ah, shinx."

Valentine felt a lump raising up in his throat. He'd never seen a Pokemon look as injured as his Aron did...well, save the broken beaks on the jerk Wingull. But on his own pokemon! That kinda injury...Aron didn't seem to care for water.

Obviously.

I mean, Valentine HAD gotten his license by performing a test. Still, this is what made his team quite a bit dynamic. Both his little cuties shared a type. And, combined...well, there was little that could stand in his way. Still, he lost a lot of his enthusiasm when he saw Aron in the shape she was in. It took a few clenches of his fist and the music track to change in his headphones to really get him prepared.

"Corsola, don't leave Aron's side. Protect her at the cost of offense! If you can't fit a Tackle in, just use Harden!" He shook his head, and looked at Aron.

That's my girl, He grinned as she forced herself to her feet, shaking her body free of the remaining water. With the dramatic pointing of a finger, his glasses askew with the quick movement, "Aron! Don't give up! Kick his ass!"

He slipped the dangling earbud back into his ear, and crossed his arms, legs spread firm, his posture almost impressive. He couldn't allow little Aron to see him upset, so he'd do the right thing: He'd let his confidence in her ability be displayed all over his body.

Ah, the joy of a first battle. This is a wonderful example of a first time trainer learning what it is like to be a trainer. It is far different to be a trainer than to dream of being a trainer. Despite some similarities, the real thing is much much harder. Still, with that toughness comes an inner determination to win at all costs. You were becoming a trainer in the best definition of that word. Confidence was truly the name of the game.

As you remained a rock of strength in your Pokemon's battles, you watched as Corsola stood by Aron's side, both of them watching the two flying Wingulls with wary eyes. Those two seemed to be ready for anything, but were they really? The Wingulls seemed to glance at each other and they charged headlong towards Aron and Corsola, one Wingull per Pokemon. A collision seemed imminent, but the Wingulls were interested in scare tactics. Sadly for them, Aron and Corsola were bolstered with confidence from your own confidence. Corsola jumped forwards and smashed his rock like body into the already battered beak of his Wingull. Aron's steel armor glinted in the sunlight as she charged forwards at full speed, seemingly doing less damage than Corsola. Iron Head sounded more powerful, but it seemed to be weaker somehow. How could that be?

The Wingullls pulled out of their dive with a few more bruises than they had started with. Scare tactics were now off the table, what's next? Well, things would probably be different next round. As the Wingulls flew away, climbing out of their dive, an old man came up behind you and stood next to you. He said, "Kid, you doin' good, but you need more strategy. Use you head. The Pokemons listen to you. Tell they what to do and they do it. You in control. Take that control." Okay then. This guy seems really creepy, but he also appears to be quite knowledgeable. He wasn't grimy and gross. He was wearing a nice business suit that was a little frayed at the edges, but very classy and respectable. The only thing really off about him was his terrible accent and his very forward nature. Personally, I think this man could be of use to you. He might be able to teach you about Pokemon. Or he could just be a really creepy old man who is senile and totally out of his mind. Either way, he had some good advice, I think.

Valentine made a significant face and startled a bit at the sound of the man which, seemingly, came out of nowhere. His posture failed as he shook his head and looked over at the man, taking the time to adjust his glasses to get a good look at him.

A foreigner? How annoying...

Normally people saw the headphones in his ear and just assumed he was listening to music and refrained from bothering him, so something like this, someone who spoke so weirdly, to come up to him in the middle of something serious like this to offer advice seemed like anything but appropriate.

"Use strategy, huh?" His voice crackled with humor, as he lightly thumbed at his battling beasts. "Both of my Pokemon are out of their element, against flying types with no way to do anything but wait for the bastards to come back down here."

The young kid shook his head a few times. "Aron weighs over a hundred pounds, but maybe Corsola could jump off her back, he's only like twelve pounds. But really, I don't want him stuck in the air with a couple of fast flyers."

"Al'right guys, doin' awesome! With their next sweep, focus on the most injured one. Swap over to using Tackle, Aron...and Corsola, protect her from any water blasts!"

He took a step back from the battle and sighed, looking up at the two bird pokemon. Here was the moment of truth, his watch alerted him that it the health of the smaller one was already critical. He had absolutely no interest in a Wingull, especially not ones he met this way, but if he didn't capture them, how would they get healed? The guilt started to build in his chest as he watched them flap around in the air. Why didn't they just take off? It's not like he...

"Dammit," He muttered looking down at his hand--from the earlier encounter with his own Meowth. They probably just wanted food. He himself had fed Wingull at the docks, right? ...ah, well. He brushed his hand off on his pants leg, and crossed his arms again, looking up at the Wingull.

Battles would strengthen them up, too. So it was fair all around.

The two Wingull flapped and swarmed overhead. The two were still out of reach for your Pokemon. You were right however, about one thing. You did need to wait for them to attack or at least come down to your Pokemon's level to be able to do a thing.

You had given the Pokemon their orders, now you had to wait for them to be executed. One, both of them being a higher level than your own Pokemon posed a problem, at least they were previously weakened and you were doing a good enough job keeping them back.

The two, still above, were getting fidgety and wanted to do some more battling. They were quite the little workers, eh? The stronger Wingull just stayed above and blasted down water guns, while the second went on the offensive. Luckily for you, you gave Corsola orders to defend Aron.

With that, Corsola kept moving at the fastest pace he could to get blasted with as many water gun attacks as he could, saving Aron from taking the blast. Aron just tried to dodge as much of the water as she could before waiting for the weakened Wingull to come down for a pecking tackle. As the weaker one did so, Aron planned on crushing him with a tackle attack.

As planned, Aron took off for a head on collision with this Wingull. The Wingull did notice that he was headed for a bad spot. He tried to turn around, but before he could, Aron pummeled him with her tackle. That made the weaker Wingull fly across the way, landing on the ground, unconscious.

The stronger Wingull was still above, but when he noticed his friend was down, he went down to protect him. He landed across the way, squawking at you and your Pokemon as if enraged. That created some fear, maybe not much, but some, in your Pokemon's eyes.

Meanwhile, the creepy old man was standing aside, clapping at the good work that your Aron had done. "See! That's what I was talking about! Good job sonny boy! Aha!" he said in a happy tone. What was he doing there anyways? Who knew? Might as well just let him be and move on with your next stage of battle.

Valentine was ignoring the creeper by now, shouting out his own praise towards his Pokemon as he gave a small jump and positioned himself in a more appropriate position to bark orders to his battlin' pocket monsters. His thumb lightly brushed off the bottom of his nose, a gesture that meant more he was pleased with himself than anything else, and pointed directly at the Wingull.

"Charge it!" He shouted out, "Keep it on the ground! That's the only way we'll win!"

Of course, Corsola was the first to charge, needing to be in front to protect Aron from harm. He found himself beyond pleased with himself, though, lightly scratching the back of his head. He only had five normal pokeballs, and those things didn't exactly grow on trees. Still...he'd have to bring that broken Wingull to the Pokemon Center, and if it wasn't in his pokeball, it wouldn't be tame, and that'd just be a disaster.

...it's not exactly like he could charge the Wingull for the pokeball, either. Sure, he'd wake up eventually, but his beak would take time to heal. He'd have a cool scar, maybe, and...well, when he made his triumphant return to Milliena, they'd recognize him and attack him on sight, all evolved and whatnot--because that was life. How the hell a stupid seagull like this would evolve was beyond Valentine, but his literary training left him with the serious fear of NOT showing compassion to the angry little beast. It was still rolling over in his head.

The senior of the Wingull duo quickly realized its mistake of flying down to protect the weaker one from these wingless assailants, as he was quickly greeted with an endagering charge from your own team. With a screech of dismay, the gull attempted to fly away, but was quickly stopped by a vicious smackdown from Corsola's horn-like branches. Battered and feeling the pain, the Wingull attempted to take to skies, only to find that the tackle had fractured his left wing. Finding the flight quickly leaving him, the urge to fight only grew stronger. Corsola gave a soft cry of victory, but this battle was far from over.

Mouth gurgling with water, the Wingull quickly stopped the second offense with a furious Water Gun, sending Aron flailing in the stream of water. Hopping around in a rather ridiculous manner - half flying, half jumping - the Wingull was clearly angry, squawking its frustration out as it attempted to keep your pokemon away. It was a quite pitiful display of weakness; had the seagull not insulted you earlier, I would be surprised if you didn't feel a little regret over the results of your overpowering charge!

Beside you still stood the old man, finding your display of valor quite good entertainment. Maybe you should charge HIM for the Pokeball, considering he was getting such a good show for free? Anecdotes of money making aside, the geezer again commented on your situation. "Aha! That gull is quite the fighter, hohoho! What a great fight!"

Undeterred by the Wingull's punishing bullet, however, your Aron stood resilient. Shaking her metallic coat clean, the armored pokemon retreated back to you, and Corsola quickly followed suite. Would you continue your offense, with the position you had put this Wingull in?

Red light flooded the area as the pokeballs on his belt activated, calling his cute little beasts back to their save havens. He lightly patted the balls, still warm from the action. "Way to go, guys..." Soft spoken all of a sudden, he removed his headphones from his head and scratched the back of his neck, stretching lightly with a smirk on his face. His first wild pokemon battle---and he had won.

"Hey, Wingull?" He said, looking away from the proud little beast, up at the air--embarrassed with what he was about to say. "You and your brother are pretty tough. How about I take you to the Pokemon center, patch you and him up, and call it a day?"

He chuckled, and turned over to the geezer getting jollies from watching a young kid play with his pokemon. "Hey, my name's Valentine. Did you see that? One day, I'm gonna be awesome. Tell your friends."

Although it sounded cocky on paper, he actually said it with a joking tone, grinning at the man as he moved over to the K.O.'d wingull and his almost K.O.'d brother. He stuck out his hand slowly and kneeled down to the feisty one, the light pumping bass from his headphones doing nothing against the pressure in his temples. "Hop on up. I'll carry him, we'll get everything fixed, okay? I don't wanna have to knock you out, too. Right?"

He laughed at that, although there was a noted nervousness. His stomach still hurt and he wanted to throw up. Valentine, despite what you might think, wasn't keen on getting his eye pecked out, too.

The older Wingull glared at you, indignant. It wasn’t enough that his fellow Wingull had been knocked out and had a broken break. He himself had not only a broken beak, but a broken wing and a severely wounded pride. Now you were suggesting he further humiliate himself by accepting your aid? Sadly, Wingull doubted he had any choice. A pokemon nurse would be able to help them with their beaks and his wing…although he’d really have to swallow his pride to let you take them to the Center. Ah, but wasn’t that the higher course of action; to let go of his ego and do what was best for him and the other Wingull?

Ooo, he would have clicked his beak in irritation had it not been broken! He looked at your hand and flopped about a bit, trying to figure out how the heck he’d balance with a broken wing. You heard several annoyed squawks come from his mouth as he tried to move. The thing was, most of his body was his wings! To have one useless, a dead weight, threw him way off-balance. Eventually, by flapping the other wing a lot, he managed to stumble onto your palm, grumbling the whole way. There was no way he could really hurt you, as badly injured as he was, and he knew better than to turn away help when he needed it for pride’s sake. He cried at you a bit, trying to tell you something. Too bad you didn’t speak his language, but it sure seemed he wanted to go to the Center with you. The way he kept glancing at the other indicated he wanted you to take both of them.

The old man seemed disappointed that the battle was over, but he smiled at your remark. “My friends wouldn’t care either way, sonny,” he said in a much quieter voice. Hmm…if he had any real friends they apparently didn’t share his interest in pokemon and pokemon battles. Hey, maybe he’d want to tag along with you while you took care of the Wingulls! You might learn something from him…or not, depending on whether he was senile and crazy or not.

Let's fast forward through the boring parts and set ourselves up to the important part, okay?

The sliding doors opened and a young man walked in, the pumping bass from his headphones obvious over the lame squawking of the Pokemon in his arm, who seemed determined to tell him exactly how this wasn't a favor and rather he was just coming along to make sure his brother was okay or --- or something, it wasn't like anyone here spoke Pokemon-speech. So he made his way up to the counter, casting his eyes behind him as if looking for someone: Honestly, a certain old man who had been creeping him out for a bit. He seemed lonely, but there was no way he was going to allow that creeper to follow him around all day. There where still Pokemon to catch, and he'd have to level up Meowth to get her on the party average...

Yes, Valentine thought in terms like that.

"Can you heal these two guys?" The boy asked, carefully letting the conscious Wingull own first, and then his brother. "They're not tame...I just managed to beat them up in a battle."

There had to been stifled laughter all around the Pokemon Center--a trainer bringing uncaptured, wild pokemon to the center for healing? What a newbie! Well...he'd find out soon enough that this wasn't the way to do it, and it/d be easier--in character--for him to grind up that little Meowth.

"These, too, please?" He asked, dropping his three Pokeballs.

...and from here, he'd be letting the center release those Wingull as he stepped back outside, looking for an OTHER Pokemon encounter. He had done the research and he'd be perfectly find sleeping at his own house for a while before stepping out into the dangerous routes. Some cool pokemon lived around Millenia, and after all...he'd at least get Meowth to level 5.

This is NOT a pic of me.
Well, I'm going to make this one short and sweet. Easy to remember... you might call it. Nurse Joy happily took your pokemon and went into the room where she works her magic. So as you wait in the lobby, the breeze outside sways and the sunlight crashes down. The water in the small pond to the side of the canter is calm as calm could be. So, after looking at a perfectly normal center for a long enough time, the Nurse comes out and calls you up to the desk. She hands you the three pokemon and then.... plays the trombone?

Nurse Joy played a cheerful little tune on a trombone that she picked up off the ground. Then she announced "You are our 1,000th visitor! Congratulations! Please take this pie as a token of our gratitude." She hands you a delicious looking pie wrapped neatly in gleaming plastic wrap. The whole thing was topped by a sparkling red ribbon. Lucky you... you really should share that pie... just kidding. You fought hard, time for a little desert. As long as the pokemon who worked as hard as you get a slice I'm happy.

You step outside carrying the sweet smelling parcel of pie. What a great day this was going to be for you! You take a look back at the pokemon center and see ripples on the water that was earlier completely calm. You take a closer look and see an adorable Surskit recting a dance on the surface of the small pond. The surskit did a few twirls and shot strait through the water with Quick attack, causing a glittering spray of water to come from either sides of it. Then it finished by firing Mud Shot, giving the flying water a musty look... but when it landed it sent swirls of brown and blue in all directions. This little guy might be a valuable contest pokemon if you caught it... but be careful... it looks strong. Whether you want to battle it was up to you.

It was picturesque, a young skinny boy--the kinda kid who might be attractive if he wasn't so awkward--sitting at the edge of a pond with a lazy smile on his face, three pokemon surrounding him. A little metal bug monster that was far more interested in the tin that held the pie, a cute pink water type splashing around in the safe shallows with it's cry of "Coro-coro-coro," and the skittish but loving kitten resting on his shoulder, far smaller than the average Meowth, her lucky coin slipping about on her small forehead from time to time as she struggled with the crumbles of pie.

As he lightly pushed the bit of fruit into her mouth, he couldn't help but smile at her. She was such a sweet little creature, not scary like those Wingull, and she had an absolute devotion to him. His poketch called her a level 3, which meant she was way behind the other two who---

WHO DIDN'T RECIEVE EXPERIENCE FOR THE EARLIER BATTLE! He lightly tapped the watch's touch screen to see if it would refresh, and figured he'd complain to that old man if he found them again...you know, since he had pretty much done everything right for his little monsters to go up on the experience scale, it'd be annoying for it not to happen.

But more importantly was his little meowth. Watching the water type dance around the pond, he realized he couldn't just sit down like this very often...only a few months on Pokemon trainer's leave, and it'd be embarassing if he just spent it all being lazy around town. So, carefully packing up the pie, he returned the two higher level pokemon and let the meowth ride on his shoulder---

"Let's find you something that's a more fair fight, okay?"

OOC: As Valentine noted, I'd like to receive the EXP for the Wingull (or two) please? And ignoring the big scary water type 'cause Valentine isn't CRAH-ZEH.

When the stars stop shining, dreams will shatter before your eyes. Know that you're not alone!

Walking away from the water bug, the little thing went back on its way. It wasn’t hostile, it probably didn’t even want to fight, which was a good thing, because there was no way you were going to try. Walking along, you looked around, hopefully finding a much easier foe for your low level friend. Surely enough, a tiny little Wooper was chirping in the tall grass. Now, it was water type, but it seemed fairly weak. The little guy popped his head up, and noticed that you were in his range. He trotted over to your direction; this little guy didn’t seem like the fighting type either.

The little trotted over in front of you, giving a big smile and a little love nudge. It was rather cute, for a…mud…fish….thing. The little guy danced around you, happy it found a friend, but little did it know that you didn’t want a friend, you just wanted an easy fight. You imagined your little cat rip into the cute little fish, then him being shredded. Was fighting this practically helpless little Pokémon really your cup of tea? He just wanted a friend, poor little guy.

Suddenly, little Wooper stopped dancing, and looked at the nearby water source. He made a little cute cry, and suddenly, two more little Woopers appeared. Oh boy, maybe he did have friend, but you were just a BIGGER friend. The teal mud fish jumped out of the water, and joined the first one. They looked at each other, and started dancing circles around you. Okay, this was getting a little ridiculous, you were either in 1 fish 2 fish, or you were you getting punk’d. You facepalmed, but then your poketech beeped. Apparently, you got an email.

Tournament of Aegis! Hello
Val

On June 1st, 2009, Alternia will be holding its 100th annual Tournament of Aegis. The Tournament allows people to enter up to three Pokemon. Matches are organized randomly, and entrants will be allowed to use each of their three Pokemon in the fights. However, it is only one-on-one combat. Two or more Pokemon on the field results in immediate disqualification. The Tournament is divided into multiple tiers based on skill level. There are 24 possible tiers, but this year, estimated funds will only be enough to support five of them. We will be fielding trainers from Tiers 1-4. Tier 5 will host all trainers more skilled than those in Tier 4. If no one enters your tier, you will be put into a lower tier with a handicap. The Tournament charges a fee of $100 that pays for mass transit to the facilities from all three major cities, the facilities themselves, and the prizes. This year's prizes will be the following:
1st Place: Trophy, $2000, and a Tier X 1st Place Badge
2nd Place: Trophy, 2 Ultra Balls, a Great Ball, and a Tier X 2nd Place Badge
3rd Place: Medal, One Great Ball, One Specialty Ball, and a Tier X 3rd Place Badge
4th Place: Tier X 4th Place Badge
5th Place: Tier X 5th Place Badge

The Tournament will be held at the foot of the Joukai Tower. Legend says that this Tournament gives the legendary Pokemon of Emotion, Mesprit, Knowledge, Uxie, and Willpower, Azelf, the power to keep Alternia safe. This tournament will also keep the Joukai Tower a place of peace and calm. The excitement, strategy, and desire of the trainers and their Pokemon makes the source of the three fairies' power regain its strength. Thus, this is the Tournament of Aegis, the tournament that keeps Alternia safe. Legend also states that this tournament revives the power of other artifacts of power that keep the power of legendary Pokemon at their peak.

Do you have what it takes to be in the legendary Tournament of Aegis? Registration tables open on May 31st at the Joukai Tower Arena. Be there!

Woah, a tournament? Not only would this be a good place to meet and compete, but look at those prizes! $2000 was a lot of money, but it would take a lot of work to get it. Suddenly, many objects of value went through your imagination. Not only that, but you could be famous. This was almost too good of an offer to refuse. Then again, you would need more Pokémon, and to get you Pokémon stronger. But you had a month, and that should be enough time…if you use it wisely.

You looked back at the little fish. All three of them looked at you with wide eyes. It was obvious, they wanted a reaction out of you, and for you to play with them. It wasn’t every day that someone gets to play with cute little mud fish, but with training and battling on your mind, it wasn’t exactly a good time. So, what were you going to do? Play with the little fish, or crush them? The choice is yours.

Valentine gave a start, as if he had dozed off or something, and shook his poketech with a small amount of vigor, clicking away the message without really paying attention to it. It was a freaky out-of-body experience, but he just...shook it off, and let his fingers stretch in and out and about around his little device until he felt the feeling in his feet. After some time, he smiled down at the little Pokémon.

"Sorry, guys, I'm not really interested in playing," He confessed. "So we have to do it this way."

He made a show of locking eyes with the bigger one, the level of '3' popping up on his small device. Which was a delicious number, because it meant he got to use his little friend, who was busy gnawing down on the small golden coin that was supposed to make her lucky. He gave her a sideways stare for a moment and she carefully balanced the coin back on her forehead.

"Nya?"

"Holiday, let's see what you're made of!" He said, nudging her into the air with a thrust of his shoulder. She leapt up and with surprising grace--well, she was a meowth, after all--landed on her two feet, hands up and ready for combat.

Valentine looked down at the wooper, and smiled apologetically. "Please don't let your friends interfere with our fair match..." Scratching the back of his head and pointing at his belt, he almost threatened: "My other Pokémon are much higher level than you."

OOC: Meowth! Hit 'em with a SCRATCH attack!
