Azedenkae's Journey

Azedenkae

The paperwork was done rather quickly, and well, fully - it was simple. He was to retrieve a precious stone, return it to her, and he was free - with his Tentacool, of course. Simple enough. As for whom he was being accompanied by... well, he didn't mind at all. So he took Ran's Pokeball, and the process began, first with a trip in the patrol car.

Whilst in the car - he began to think. So, what was so precious that the lady so wanted? An Evolution Stone? Possible, perhaps a Moon Stone or something like it. That'd probably count as rare. The only problem was that it was a cavern environment. There may possibly be underground lakes, but chances are slim... so, Ran won't be having such an easy time then, if there will be lot's of battles. Better be very careful then.

So they finally got to the cave, and here he was, walking into it first.

And... the first thing they heard, was a screech, and then a Zubat appeared in front of them.

Turning towards the officer, Azedenkae sighed, and then smiled. "Guess... I'ma have to fight this why, eh? Or will you be doing the honors?"

It was dark, slightly cold, and the sound of air rushing into the cave made an odd whistling sound. Up until now, the officer hadn’t said anything, and even when you asked your question, he didn’t say anything. Clearly he did not like you, and was only here to ensure you didn’t run away. However, when it was clear that he was never going to answer, something came up from behind. The officer turned around first and grunted, confirming that there was something of a hindrance behind you.

Turning around, you would come face to face with a Scorupi, one that was not too happy to have people wandering into his home. Either way, this was now going to be two on one if the officer decided to sit by and watch. “Tch. You pick one, I’ll take the other. Let’s get this over with.” He let his ball fly and out sprung a Growlithe; standard order for the police department. He was ready to fight whichever one you didn’t want to, however, I’m sure both would be able to be caught if you so chose one they had fallen.

Tch. Azedenkae gave the officer a smile. Then, his expression became focused as he whipped out his Pokedex to take a look at each Pokémon in turn - starting with the Zubat. As usual, he pointed his Pokedex towards the Zubat and it read out what it needed to read out:

'Zubat. Lives in dark places. Though blind, they can 'see' via ultrasonic waves. Poison and Flying Type. Has ability Inner Focus.'

Once he had heard the description, he turned and pointed his Pokedex at the other Pokémon, getting a reading as well:

'Skorupi. Grips preys with their claws and injects poison with their tail. Poison and Bug Type. Has abilities Battle Armor and Sniper.'

Hm... interesting... Being a Senkran, he had seen neither of these types of Pokémon in his life - Poison Type Pokémon were rare where he came from. Oh well, back to the battle. So, both had Types that would be weak to Ran's attack - Zubat was part Flying, whilst Skorupi was part Bug. However...

Azedenkae turned towards the officer, and then the Growlithe. He pointed his Pokedex at the Growlithe, and got a reading as well:

'Growlithe. Loyal canine Pokémon. Fire Type. Has abilities Intimidate and Flash Fire.

Azedenkae grinned. A fire type. Fire Types didn't really exist a lot in Senkra either. Oh well, he did know quite a bit about Fire Types, at least. Out of the two opponents, Growlithe would be only good against Skorupi, but be rather neutral to the Zubat.

Well, the choices are set then.

"Officer... I'll leave the Skorupi to you. I'll take the Zubat." Azedenkae told the officer, of course, with a smile. Besides the type advantage, there was one other thing - if one was to divide Pokémon into just three classes, they'd be classified as aerial, grounded and aquatic Pokémon. The relationship between the three types would depend on the location, and the types of each Pokémon - but in most cases, aerial Pokémon would have the most advantage, followed by grounded Pokémon, and then finally, aquatic Pokémon. But in Azedenkae's case - since his fighting style is unique, it puts Ran, as an aquatic Pokémon, on almost equal footing to the other two types. Fighting with Skorupi would leave Growlithe against Zubat - a grounded versus an aerial type Pokémon, as such at a clear disadvantage - whilst him fighting the Zubat would leave the Growlithe against the Skorupi, which would put them all on equal footing.

Meh, enough about strategies and everything.

"Let's get this started!" Azedenkae exclaimed as he grabbed Ran's Pokeball with his right hand and holding it just over his left arm. Pressing the button, he released Ran out onto his forearm - whom instantly grabbed onto him, ready for battle.

"Ran! Use Confuse Ray on the Zubat! If he's not confused, then use Confuse Ray again! If it hits, then wait until the Zubat comes close, and then lift up your tentacles and try to Constrict it! Remember to release me if it works!" Azedenkae ordered, planning out the whole battle. First, he was going to confuse the opponent - until it works. Once it work, he'd simply move towards the Zubat itself, extending his left arm towards it, aiming to bring Ran as close to the Zubat as possible, to allow Ran to grab hold and use Constrict, as intended. And then... well, he'll think of more later, once something actually happens.

“Fine. Just make it quick.” The officer turned to face the Skorupi directly pointing at the bug Pokemon just as it came forward. It was clear that the pair were well rehearsed, or rather well experienced in field work, in fact, maybe that’s why the officer was so grouchy before; he was a field agent and watching you in the cell was his least favourite activity. In any case, Growlithe lead off with an Ember attack, the like of which landed mostly on the Skorupi as it tried to dodge by running underneath Growlithe as it leapt up. In any case, the Growlithe landed closer to the Skorupi, and its trainer, the officer, commanded it to use Leer, which it did.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s see how well you did. Ran heard your commands and let loose a Confuse Ray, and in response, the Zubat let loose a Supersonic. Now, the ray pierced the sound waves fine and Zubat was put into a confused stupor; but Ran was still hit with the sound waves and also became confused. Clearly, because the next stage was for Ran to use Constrict on the Zubat as it was confused, so when Zubat came close, it reached out both of its appendages to try and grab the bat. It managed to grab it with one, but before it could grab it with the other, the Zubat made an erratic and panicked movement to try and escape, dragging Ran from your arm. With only one tentacle to support its weight, Ran was soon thrown to the floor, flailing its tentacles about to catch the bat and fulfil its orders, but it was still confused so who knows what else it could possibly grab.

That was... very unexpected. Azedenkae thought, watching as Ran flailed about on the ground. What to do now?

He can't simply pick her up, or she might constrict him instead - and that'd be bad. Very bad. Dang, he should have taken the hint about Zubat's attacks from it's description. Meh well, it's too late to ponder about that now. He needed to fix this, and fix it fast.

In her confused state, no doubt Ran won't be able to differentiate much, so it's best to just give her something very, very simple to do...

...

Well, it was worth a try.

"Ran! The moment you're attacked, use Constrict right away on whatever's attacking you! If you manage to Constrict it, then use Blizzard on whatever it is! If not, then just try your best and aim a Blizzard at the attacker!" Azedenkae ordered. Okay, so it wasn't exactly simple, but he still hoped that Ran could manage it. After all, Confusion is one of those really pesky status ailments, where things are just too variable to properly plan things out. Tch, too bad the officer was apparently doing fine, on his own. Sucks.

Oh well, just hopefully he won't finish too slowly behind the officer, just in case the officer decides to sneer some remark at him.

Okay, now, before I begin writing, I’m going to say something quite bluntly. I may, or may not have been high then watching this battle unfold as you battled. Granted, you couldn’t see me, because I’m super special awesome like that. Anyway! The cop was doing well, yes, but that’s because he also had type advantage to aid him; you had an annoying bat instead. Following the Leer made by Growlithe, the Skorupi charged forward and knocked Growlithe into Ran with Strike.

Now here’s where your commands come into play. You said use Constrict? Well, Ran did just that, but missed. However, her tentacles were coiled, and thinking she’d hit her target, she followed with Blizzard, sending her airborne. I had popcorn while watching this; it was really cool how she did kinda like a confused springboard and then landed on the Zubat. Anyway, she used Constrict of her own will, taking a firm hold of the Zubat as it tried to get it with Leech Life. It almost looked like they were hugging, but…not.

OOC: Since Tentacool has the Liquid Ooze ability, Zubat loses HP instead of gaining HP when it uses Leech Life, doesn't it?
BIC:
Azedenkae turned towards the police officer, almost snarling at him for being careless with the Growlithe. Instead, he just gave the guy a glare, before turning back towards Ran and the Zubat. He needed Ran to act, and act fast, so there was no time to exchange pleasantries with the police officer.

"Ran, use Blizzard on your target now! Followed by another Blizzard! Quick!" He ordered, knowing that this was truly the best time to use that attack. Blizzard was a rather high damaging attack, but lacks just a bit of accuracy, and exhausts the user quite a bit as well, so missing sucked. But, being stuck to the Zubat, the accuracy is basically a hundred percent now - just perfect. He could have told Ran to try and get the Skorupi as well, but since Ran still seemed confused, better just make things as simple as possible first.

With the type disadvantage of flying against ice, and the power of the attack, Azedenkae was pretty sure that Ran could deal a huge amount of damage to Zubat this round, possibly even KOing it right away. Possibly, anyways. Ran is still confused, and who knows how well she could execute the attacks in her state...

Oh well, he can still hope, at least.

((As we talked in the CBox, that was my error and has been taken into account. Also, the results of this ref were interesting. Racer and I discussed the damage dealt and what should be done considering you were saying two Blizzards, however, what actually happened was decided by me. Any complaints, I'll be happy to discuss via PM or whatever. I'm flexible.))

You ordered Ran, and as you spoke it seemed as if she was slowly regaining her senses. Blizzard? Well, two of them? Seems like a little bit of overkill to me, but whatever. Seems like the cards are in your favour, however, there is some good news, and naturally some bad news. The good news is that Blizzard, being a ice type, dealt a crushing blow to Zubat’s HP. The bad news is that it got frozen. You may be asking yourself how something like this could be considered a bad thing, however, because Ran was coiled around the enemy Zubat as it froze, Ran ended up freezing itself as well! Put it off to the confusion, however, Zubat is still significantly weakened, so not all was lost.

The officer on the other hand had regained control of his Growlithe and was battling furiously with the Skorupi. He looked back to see the situation you have gotten yourself in and shook his head, turning back to his own battle and caring very little about your dilemma. As Growlithe lunged forward with an Ember attack, Skorupi swung its tail around and struck the canine in the side, poisoning it. Both Pokemon were injured, but your situation was far more interesting. Either way, this battle wouldn’t last much longer. You just need to figure out what to do with your Pokemon in a frozen state, not to mention stuck to a wild Pokemon. The officer seemed to be doing well, so if all turned out, you’d be on your way deeper into the cave before long.

Azedenkae

He suddenly felt as though this was a case of dejavu, as very similar things were happening as it once did before - and not too long ago either. That's right, this is basically what was done against that Machop of that thief guy. That time, Ran had also confused, constricted and froze her opponent, just as now. So what did he do back then?

Well, Machop kind of just... fainted, but it was obvious that that wasn't the case here. Ran and Zubat was still in the air, that means that both were just in partial freeze... cool.

"Ran!" Azedenkae shouted. Again. So, well, the flight was erratic, and it was obvious that the Zubat was severely weakened. He only needed one attack, probably, to win this. "Use Poison Sting on the Zubat!" Azedenkae ordered. The goal was, to hit Zubat with some piercing attack, so that if it hits the Zubat itself, it'll deal damage. However, if it only manages to crack the ice, well, that should be able to hurt the Zubat enough as well.

Then again, it may not, and just to be sure...

Well suddenly, his Poketech chimed, and the reminder to enter the Zaroff Lottery rang. Oh yes, of course, I almost forgot! Criminal or not, he still had his rights. Before that...

"In case the Zubat's not KOed, use Poison Sting again!" Azedenkae ordered again, before checking how the officer was doing. Hopefully the officer would be done soon as well. From the looks of it, Growlithe and Skorupi still had a ways to go to completing their part of the battle. Hm... maybe he can help them out, let Ran get some extra experience point from that as well.

After all, the faster she leveled up, the closer he is to his goal.

Before that, yes, Lottery. Well, he was in a bit of haste. Oh well.

He picked five numbers, then went back to the fight.

Wow. Frozen in mid air? That’s kinda cool. No, really, I didn’t intend to make that pun, it just happened; honest. In any case, Ran was able to unleash the Poison Sting like you asked, however due to type effectiveness; it wasn’t going to go down straight away. Ran used it a total of four times, one to break through the frost, and another 3 times to finish it off. That’s what you get for using a poison type move on another poison type pokemon. In any case, with one foe down, the pair of them, still stuck together, fell to the floor of the cave. The ice splintered and dug into Ran, but otherwise she was mostly unfrozen.

The officer grunted and commanded his Growlithe to bathe it in flame. Realistically, this was only using Ember twice, but it was effective non-the-less due to type advantage. Along with STAB, that was a fair amount of damage, in any case though, it was almost down for the count much like the Zubat was. The Skorupi wasn’t about to go down without a fight, and with that retaliated with two more Poison Stings. With how things were going, this battle was as good as over, however, considering you’re in a cave and had to keep moving, you’d need to be careful to not overexert yourself, otherwise you may find yourself in another battle with exhausted Pokemon. I'm sure you wouldn't want that, or maybe you did. Either way, I'd advise caution from here on.

Azedenkae

Hehe. Awesome. I won. Azedenkae grinned to himself as he gave a slight look towards the officer. The guy seemed to have things under control, mostly - but well, guess Azedenkae was just better. Oh well, time to do what he needed, whilst the officer finished off his job.

Taking out Ran's Pokeball, he withdrew his Pokemon back into her Pokeball to let her finish thawing out and rest a bit - she wasn't too frozen anymore, but was probably extremely exhausted, for sure.

Next... Azedenkae checked his Poketech and found the results of his lottery - the items appearing out in his hand. Strangely, he found that he had won a Staryu, a waterstone and a rare candy!

Azedenkae raised his left eye just slightly, seeing just how cool that coincidence was - a Staryu and a Water Stone. Awesome! Well, first of, these two...

Azedenkae pressed a button to release Staryu, and then placed the Water Stone on it to allow Staryu to evolve. That over, he withdrew it back into its Pokeball, and then took out Ran again. Feeding her the Rare Candy, he once again withdrew her into her Pokeball, and then turned towards the Zubat.

Hm... he really just want to take care of Ran, but he didn't mind more Pokemon. More Pokemon meant more money, and/or better items for Ran anyways.

So, taking out an empty Pokeball, he tossed it at the Zubat, hoping to capture it.

After that, he accessed the Lottery via his Poketech and entered the new lottery.

Then, suddenly, the Poketech chimed, telling him that he got a trade offer - a TM 45 for his Wingull. Awesome!

He pressed okay, and made the transaction. Instantly, he received the TM 45.

Taking out Ran again, he used the TM 45 on her, teaching her Attract, and then re-withdrew her into her Pokeball. Whew, lot's of stuff whilst waiting for the officer.

OOC:
So... first of, won stuff.
So, evolving Staryu with Water Stone into a Starmie.
Then, feed Ran the Rare Candy.
Then, catch Zubat.
Then finally, teach TM 45 (Attract) to Ran the Tentacool.

The Zubat went into the Pokeball with very little hassle. I’m sure you’re aware of the clichéd rocking that the Pokeball does, so I’ll skip the description of that and say that you had a new POkemon. The Pokeball sat on the ground, motionless, waiting for you to pick it up and put it on your belt or in your bag or whatever it was that you carried your Pokemon on or in. So…Ran also knew how to use Attract now? Oh fun, I’m sure I could write a page about the bad humor involving a Pokemon with tentacles and the move Attract. Either way, I’ll keep it civil and not mention tentacle rapeanything. Anyway…your side of the battle was done, and that just left the officer to finish up what he was doing.

Speaking of, the Officer was doing his best to finish up the battle as best he could. Simply, there wasn’t much left in the battle considering the obvious type advantage Growlithe had over the Skorupi. So, without saying much, I’ll simply tell you that another Ember attack had it finished off, and with it the Officer called back his Growlithe, treating it with some medicine to sure the Poison. Looking back at you and seeing you had finished off and captured the Zubat, he smirked and put Growlithe back inside his Pokeball. Standing, he looked at you and moved towards the darker, deeper parts of the cave. “Come on then; we’ve got a fair way before us before we get to where we need to be.”

BATTLE WON!
Ran gained 10 :exp !
Ran levelled up!

Growlithe gained 11.1 :exp !

Azedenkae

Waiting for the police officer to finish off the Skorupi, Azedenkae had done various things to various Pokemon and items that he suddenly received via lotteries, trades and stuff. In an instant, Ran was stronger than she was a moment before, with an extra level and a new move. Well, that's probably a good thing, seeing how this was just the very beginning of the trip deeper into the cave. From the looks of it, Growlithe was a tad bit worse off than Ran, though it seemed less exhausted. True - Growlithe only managed Embers. Ran, on the other hand, managed two Blizzards consecutively. Oh well.

Watching as the officer healed his Growlithe, Azedenkae wondered himself if he should heal Ran - the road was still long, true, but if he healed after every fight... well, he only had three Potions, and running out of them was not a good idea.

Meh, whatever.

He can always heal in battle. Ran should be strong enough to survive anyways, so he'll take the chances. Opening his Poketech, he noticed he won the lottery again - and got a Trapinch. Yay! He entered the new lottery, and then saw that the officer was done healing. He withdrew his Growlithe into its Pokeball, and with out any attention to the Skorupi, instantly made his way onwards.

Eh?

Maybe the officer was just like him? Caring for a single Pokemon and no other? Totally possible, really. Oh well, if he wasn't going to catch that Skorupi, maybe he should - why not? Yep. Well, he wasn't sure just how rare Skorupi is - neither does he know of the Zubat, but hey - if he wasn't going to catch anything, it'd just be a waste of Pokeballs, so why not?

"Hey dude... before we go on, if you don't mind, can I catch that Skorupi? Y'know, I'm a foreigner and whatever. Skorupis are new to us Senkrans. Ye..." Azedenkae said, taking out a Pokeball and pointing at the Skorupi.

If he can, he'll just capture the Skorupi, then follow the officer. If he can't... well, he'll follow the officer anyways.

OOC: Either catch/not catch the Skorupi, then follow the officer.

A beam of red light shot out and engulfed the Skorupi, allowing it to settle into the spherical prison in your hand. With a small wobble, you had another comrade with your team, although the police offier was getting a little far ahead, so you ran to catch up. Things started get darker, and you found it hard to see. The walls and ceiling were uneven, and the floor was slowly leading you down into the dark depths. The officer turned on this patrol torch and he shone the beam of light around, revealing where you now were.

It was a large cavern, the ceiling being fairly high off the ground and littered with stalactites. Rocks were around you, but furthermore they were shimmering a little. Granted, it was just quartz reflecting the light from the torch, but you were getting closer to your goal. Then, a soft rattling could be heard, followed by a hiss, and soon enough, the beam of light the police officer was holding revealed your next foes. This was going to be slightly harder, but by all means, they were in your way of completing your goal.

It looked like the officer was going to go after whichever Pokemon you did not, so you had first pick.

The Skorupi was now his - an addition to the funds going towards raising Ran into the ultimate Pokemon, the strongest that it could become. To do that, he needed a heck of a lot of TMs, Rare Candies, and opponents for Ran to fight against. And that meant money, and where can money come from? Caught Pokemons. So yes, Skorupi was just money to him.

As they went deeper into the cave, he received the result for this week's lottery - nothing, which wasn't completely unexpected. He entered new numbers, then went on - and on - and on, until they once again were met with two wild Pokemon.

Immediately, he dialed his Poketech to the Pokedex program, and pointed it at the Ekans and Dunsparce, returning two readouts:

'Ekans. Long and deadly, with poisonous fangs. Poison Type. Has abilities Intimate and Shed Skin.'

'Dunsparce. Winged driller Pokemon. Normal Type. Has abilities Serene Grace and Run Away.'

Interesting... Type-wise, he was better off against Ekans, but Dunsparce had an ability that would be useful to him, especially in wild Pokemon fights. Well, he could always catch it after the battle has ended, since the officer probably won't want it either. Well, guess he'll take the Ekans.

"I'll take this guy, then." Azedenkae told the officer, pointing to the Ekans. "You take that flying thingy."

Once again, Azedenkae released Rán out, though this time, on the ground. A slight change of plans.

"Alright, Rán. I'm guessing that this guy won't have any confusing attacks... well, so we should have less of a problem than last time... well, I hope so anyways. Anywho, start with a Confuse Ray against that Ekans, followed by a Constrict!" Azedenkae told Rán.
