Just when you were wondering where you were going, you finally saw the world beyond the portal you walked into. Plains rolled before you, and for the first time in a long time you heard the noises that told you Pokemon were around. Looking around, you saw a lot of other people appearing around you, obviously coming from Tohea as well. Pokemon also kept popping up around you, clearly the ones who have been disappearing from Tohea, meaning that you found the answer. You just found out where these Pokemon were going, although in doing so, you’ve managed to go to the same place. Is that good, or is that bad?

Well that really depends on how you look at it, don’t you think? Either way, I must tell you… WELCOME TO ALTERNIA! You saw a huge sign in the middle of the plains, with Alternia clearly printed upon it, obviously the name of the region you’ve come to. The good news is that you’re safe from whatever was going on in Tohea. However, the bad news is you’ll never be able to return to Tohea, or the world that it was placed upon. Everyone you ever knew before could possibly be trapped in Tohea, meaning that you may never see them again.

You should however consider yourself lucky, for I can tell you that Tohea has been completely destroyed by the beings that were fighting in the sky there. Or it will be if it hasn’t already. But to try to give you some good news, you have plenty of Pokemon around you to battle and possibly capture if you would like to. Or you could try traveling somewhere, as there are two routes leading out of this area, which apparently is named Joukai Pass. Route One is one of the routes, which will lead to Nogou Village, whatever that is. It also can take you to Route Two which will take you to another place called Kijutsu City. Then Route Five, the other route will take you Millenia Town, although there is a warning stating that Pokemon on Route Five are stronger than usual. So what will it be? This Pokemon that wants to battle, or a route right away to find out where the hell you are and how you came to be there?

Slowly his eyes started to open and adjust to the light of the sun shining down on him. He stares groggily at the lazy clouds hanging in the sky and comes to a sudden realization. Where was he? The last thing he remembered was he was in a battle against some girl and then everything went white.

"Ugh. My head feels like it was kicked by a Hitmonlee." Yuki knew that was a bad analogy, if that were to ever happen then he'd most likely be dead. Yuki looked around his location. Other trainers were coming out of the same sleep he seemed to be in, some were already awakened and searching around the area. Most had the same confused expression that he did, while others seemed to just accept their fate and leave.

The next thing to hit Yuki was if his last memory was of battle why weren't his Pokemon out? Quickly searching his body Yuki found four occupied Pokeballs. Quickly he released all four at once and checked to see if they were indeed the ones he had before this strange event took place.

One by one, his Pokemon emerged. Artemis gave a shrill exited chirp before fluffy wing glomping him. Yuki laughed at his bird's show of happiness. Umbros was next to show affection. The little wolf-like hound pounced on top of Yuki's chest and started to lick his face with enough force it would peel the skin off Yuki's skin if he didn't force the dog off. Loo lifted Yuki by his left foot and held the trainer upside down as it inspected its trainer. Once it finished Loo opened its overly large maw and slowly started to move Yuki closer. Panicking as to what the Cthooloo's intent was, Yuki quickly recalled it falling 3 feet to the ground as the monstrosity vanished in the red beam back into the Pokeball.

Yuki sighed as he looked at the glowing Pokemon before him. A fire slug somehow snuck into his team. The Slugma seemed to be examining the burnt grass beneath his body as if it were trying to figure out why the grass was dead. "Well hello there. How'd I get you?"

Yuki tried as hard as he could, but for the life of him, he couldn't remember catching it or trading for it. The new Pokemon was a complete mystery to him, but the most important thing Yuki could think of was now he got a Pokemon to act as an incubator. "Well its time to rest." Yuki recalled the other Pokemon back to their Pokeballs except Artemis.

Just as he finished checking the rest of his belongings to make sure he didn't lose anything important, Yuki could see a Starly appear out of the horizon. Smiling he looked to Artemis, "Well it looks like there is no way for the Disciples of the Temple back home could find us now. Let’s cut loose. We'll take on this bird to get you stronger and then we can take a look around this place. I'd like to know where we are."

"Right lets try Flap first. Let’s try to throw off its rhythm. Once you see an opening strike it with Dragon Rush and follow through with Peck. Try to get it to hit the ground so it causes some extra shock. We need to get as big as an advantage as we can." Artemis chirped excitedly and started to fly up to meet its new opponent. It has been a while since she had exercise.

Artemis nodded at Yuki and move up high in the air to begin to use Flap. She began to beat her wings hard causing the Starly to loose his grip in his flying and caused him to stop or fall to the ground below him. Once he was able to get his flight patter back in order he turned to glared at both Artemis and at Yuki. He used Intimidate which caused Artemis' attack to go down one stat before he moved as quickly as he could to use Tackle just when Artemis got ready to use Dragon Rush. These two attacks caused the two Pokemon to crash into each other. Artemis' attack did more damaged then the Starly's Tackle attack did her but since her attack was lowered thanks to the Starly her attack wasn't as strong as it would have been.

After the two had crashed into each other Artemis quickly used her Peck attack doing a bit more damage to the Starly before she quickly flew back away from the Starly and awaited for Yuki's next commands. She was ready to do whatever Yuki called for her to do against this Starly. She cooed at him to show that she awaited his next command for her to do again this bird that is her opponent in this strange and new place. The Starly looked like he was also trying to think of another thing he could use against this Swablu so that he can try to win this battle. He has been wanting to become stronger but he won't be able to if he didn't win this battle.

((I can handle the egg spawn myself.))

Yuki took a step back as Swablu glowed brightly. Her Dragon Rush was her strongest attack and opening trump card. Usually the attack can make or break the situation they are in. Artemis hardly ever let Yuki down and even though her attack strategy failed this time around, Yuki wasn't disappointed.

"Artemis get back."

Yuki released two more Pokeballs into the air. The newly acquired Slugma and the behemoth Loo emerged from their tiny containers. The draconic demon looked around as to why it was called forth. The undying hate and bloodlust it felt could be felt by everything around it. Both Artemis and Slugma shivered when they gazed upon the monstrosity. Yuki also began to sweat, "This is a long shot, but I hope I can control this thing. This is my first battle with it."

Loo continued to look around with a somewhat bored expression. When its eyes finally found the opponent, Loo merely shrugged and continued to look around. Even with its insane bloodlust it viewed no threat in the tiny morsel of a bird. Yuki prayed it didn't try to eat him again.

"Loo! The bird is our enemy." The creature did a half turn and stared down at Yuki, its eyes looks like they were glowing with excitement at the site of the human.

"Not me that." Yuki pointed to the bird flying in the air. "Leer it and maybe it will run away. If not you can battle it. Take some of its strength with Absorb and then back off so Artemis can attack." Loo stared at the cotton winged bird that was to be its partner. Loo just shrugged and nodded. Yuki sighed with relief. Loo was going to listen to him for the time being.

"Artemis try getting behind the Starly and use another Dragon Rush and Peck Combo. That should end this battle for us." He waved his bird off and turned to meet the new member of his little family.

"Well hello there. I'm Yuki and I'm your new trainer." Sluga seemed to be more interested in something close by. Yuki followed Slugma's line of sight and saw something shining in the grass by an oddly shaped rock. Yuki was curious enough to leave the battle alone for the time being and went to check on what the thing was.

Yuki came close to the object and discovered the rock, as he thought it was, was actually an abandoned egg. Or at least Yuki thought it was abandoned. He picked it up and picked up the thing that was shining. It looked like a TM, but was a different color than the one he already carried. Yuki placed the TM in his bag with the other and then walked back with Slugma.

"Slugma you won't have to battle. This shouldn't be too long so I want you to help me with this." Yuki gave a little pop to indicate the egg in his arms. "I'm going to place this on the ground and you need to lay somewhat close to it. Just enough for it to feel a bit of your heat, not close enough to burn it." Yuki placed the egg on the ground and Slugma curled around it. It stayed a hands width away to protect the egg from its fiery body.

Yuki went back to observing the battle. If Loo goes crazy he'll have to recall it as fast as he can and allow Artemis to finish the battle. If worst comes to worst, Yuki will call out Umbros and have Slugma join as well. Smog would serve as a distraction. Yawn could help as well, but only in a last resort right now.

It takes a great amount of courage to trust an evil being as easily as you were now, and the Cthooloo had no idea how to respond. The Pokemon had at first regarded you as its enemy, as all Cthooloos tend to do in the presence of a human being, but you treated it with trust and respect. It's obviously unclear if this meant anything to the demon, as you were merely its slave-owner in the current state of your relationship, but it certainly was a step up from the heartless trainer Loo might have pictured you as before.

Nonetheless, your Loo was still as bloodthirsty as any other Cthooloo, and with its newfound respect for you, you were not going to be his target. Well, at least you don't have to tell it to pick on Pokemon his own size, which led to the obvious conclusion: it would kill the annoying pest of a bird you called "Starly." It eyed its battlefield-- the Slugma was neutral to it, a fellow Pokemon caring for (what he believed to be) its own offspring, and it would be something to stay away from at risk of getting burned. Plus, it was not yet hungry; if the demon needed to devour your Slugma or your Artemis, it could always do that after the battle. Although the Starly, too, looked pretty tasty, and just...

...out of reach, for the time being. Without noticing, the Cthooloo was pulling off a near perfect Intimidation technique while watching the bird, and the Starly was keeping his distance in fear that he could be consumed. Loo wasn't Leering at it like you commanded, simply because it didn't care what you had to say yet-- unfortunately for you, a pure manifestation of evil cannot simply be controlled to do your bidding so quickly. That's not to say that he wasn't, coincidentally, going to carry out your plans, though. The second part of your order was really quite attractive to Loo, and that was the Absorb; anything to suck the life from a piece of scum like that flying trash heap!

Artemis was less patient, hurried in his attempt to pull off his Dragon Rush/ Peck combination after he decided that Loo wasn't following his commands, but this was met with an empirical knowledge that the Starly had derived from last round. As the famous maxim goes, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Starly wouldn't be fooled again, and deftly dodged the unreliable Dragon Rush attack, countering with a Quick Attack not yet completely perfected by the wild bird, but still enough to damage Artemis and knock her towards the ground and out of the way of a counter-Peck opportunity. In the mean-time, Cthooloo finally sprang up into the air as both flying Pokemon lowered their elevation, also hitting Artemis on his way to Absorbing a fair amount of health from the Starly. As he did so, Artemis hit the grass right in front of the Pokemon egg and your Slugma.

Starly was then able to shake Loo off, but the Absorb had already taken a fair amount of hit-points from the weaker bird. While Artemis was not doing too well, it still seemed as if the bird wasn't too long for this world.

((It was very exciting, but Starly don't learn QA til Level 5, this one is Level 4.))

Yuki sat in shock as Starly got the better hand of Artemis and then Artemis wound up getting injured by her team mate. Loo may have not been the best choice as a battle partner, but Yuki had very little Pokemon to choose from for this battle. Most of his Pokemon were land based with no Ranged attacks and his only two Pokemon capable of fighting flying Pokemon weren't proving to be very good as a team.

Artemis was lying right in front of both him and Slugma. After taking a hit from both Starly and Loo it was a surprise that she was still conscious. For now Yuki would have to call her off. He had no items to heal her and he can't allow too much harm to come to her. He was supposed to be her guardian, but so far he only managed to get her hurt.

"Artemis!" Yuki rushed over to her side and lifted her gently. She was really beat up and needed some rest. Weakly she stood up and perched on Yuki's shoulder where he helped hold her up. "You just rest here Artemis. Slugma looks like you'll get some action after all. You are the only member of our team that has ranged attacks, though not many. We'll start off slow. Make sure you stay out of Loo's way though. Let's not repeat what just happened with you. OK start with a thick Smog. We'll try to make it lose its bearings and poison it at the same time. It can only do three things after that. One is fly up to get above the Smog. Two is try to fly below the smog. Three it'll try to either clear the smog or stay inside.”

There wasn't much chance that the bird could exit the smog through the side either since the Smog would just expand outward. If Slugma kept it coming at a steady pace they could make it expand at a controlled rate. Loo would have to do the rest.

"Loo we're going to try and smoke the bird. Stay clear of the Smog. Its bad for you. When the bird emerges from the smog Strike it. Then try to absorb it again, but hold on to it so it can't get away."

Yuki turned and picked up the egg. He felt the warmth of it through his shirt. I hope I didn't leave it by Slugma too long. "Slugma watch the bird carefully if it doesn't go the way we planned, try to hit it with Yawn. If we make it drowsy then we'll win." Slugma nodded and Loo, well Yuki couldn't tell if the demonic creature was even listening to him. He feared the creature may not like being ordered by a human, but Yuki needed his power now. I'm sure that one day I'll get him to trust me. I just wish I knew how I could do that. I'm scared at the thought of something as big and crazy as that could go berserk. I wish I knew what made it like that.

I know you're out there somewhere...
Things aren't looking too good for you, although they were worse before the divine power of DarkSlayer1331 came along to change a few things. While that's a positive, it is still quite obvious that some people were almost trying to gang up on you, or possibly maybe just piss you off overall. Either way, you may now relax as that entity mentioned before has returned to oversee this current round of battle, and hopefully shall give you good news. Artemis was returned, the poor bird, I sure do feel sorry for her and would like to get my hands on whoever allowed such a horrible thing to happen. I think I'm going to have to write their name down so that I can possibly ref them at some point and see how they like a taste of their own... oh, sorry, rambling again.

Slugma came out of his own ball and seemed to be very... well sluggish about his movements, though he did show that he clearly understood everything that you had to say, as he began to use that Smog you had asked for. Just as you had hoped, the smoke began to spread about and enveloped the lower leveled bird, who you could hear coughing and wheezing, which led to the sound of a thump on the ground. Loo awaited the bird to come out, but when no sign of the fowl was present, it began to get impatient and started to clear the smoke to find the stupid winged creature itself. But when it did find the bird, it was clear that there would be no need to do anything more, as the Starly lay on the ground, clearly knocked out, and a light green color was starting to show in the bird's face. Looks like it was pretty badly poisoned!

No matter what you choose to do now, all three of the Pokemon you used just gained 13 :exp which isn't a whole lot, but we shall see what happens. Yeah, nobody leveled up or anything, but I did just add it all in, so now you may go about your business of capturing the idiot bird, or possibly just killing it, maybe letting Loo devour it. Whatever you decide. :)

Yuki smiled when the smog had cleared and he saw the bird had fallen and they were the winners. Loo looked disgusted that the enemy was easy to defeats and started to look around for another enemy to fight. With Yuki being the only person around, Yuki didn't want to take the chance of Loo going berserk and recalled the demon before he could do some major damage.

With Loo safely put away, Yuki turned to his new member. "We must give you a name as well. Something that fits you. How about Magna?" The Slugma looked up with a confused look. To Yuki it looked as if the slug didn't understand. "Ah well, I'm sure you'll come to understand it. Welcome to our family Magna."

Yuki recalled Magna and held the egg in the crook of his arm, cradling it as if it were a baby. He really wanted to hatch this egg as soon as he could, but he already knew that it would take time, but since it wasn't born under his watch he had no idea when it would hatch. It could be in a few days or in a week. Only time would tell when it hatched.

"Artemis lets go look around and see if anyone else is here." Yuki's Swablu chirped its approval to his plan and the two started to walk around this area and see where they were.

Although Artemis had taken a few pretty good hits in the last battle, she was quite up to flying around gently and looking for things. There didn't seem to be a whole lot in the area... although Artemis did eventually catch sight of something. Cooing excitedly, she perched lightly on your head, tugging your hair to get you to turn in the right direction.

There, between the trees, was a dark figure, cloaked in black with deep chestnut hair. Looked kinda intimidating, really. Although the cute, fluffy Mareep walking beside him and the happy little Horsea on his shoulder kid of mellowed his image a little. Maybe you should go see what he's up to.

Overlord of Everything - Darkness Incarnate
(And now he returns)

So then, after healing, signing up for the tournament, and switching around Pokemon, you two have finally decided to go your separate ways. Well, it is for the best, isn't it? I mean, you need to have some secrets from your potential opponent. So, after a short good-bye, the two of you parted ways. Sora went out the door to his rice rocket and Yuki to the counter. Thus, what was once one becomes two once more.

Yuki approached the Nurse's desk and asked for a location to train and books on caring for Pokemon. A younger nurse was there to take his questions. She said, "We don't have training rooms inside, but you are welcome to use the land behind the center for your training. As for care books..." The nurse wandered back into a back room. You could hear her mumbling lightly to herself as she looked. A few minutes later, she returned with a thick, hard-covered book. It looked to be quite crisp and unbroken. She said, "You are actually quite fortunate since we just got these in a few days ago. You are welcome to borrow it while you train, but please remember to return it when you are done." The nurse smiled and handed you the book before turning to help another trainer. Well, there's not much left to do but go out and train, eh? [Care Book: 20% move teaching curve]

Yuki retrieved the book from the nurse and thanked her for her assistance. First thing he did was find an open chair inside of the Pokemon Center and the started his studying. He read through some of the more important chapters of the book. Mainly on how to teach attacks effectively, and how to raise them by discovering each of their specific personality traits. He read over a few chapters of Pokemon first aid as well as the parts on Grooming. After a few hours of reading, Yuki closed the book and walked outside of the Pokemon Center.

Yuki turned as soon s he got to the corner of the building and then he proceeded to the back area he was granted the use to for his training. Once he made it there he pulled each of his Pokeballs from his belt and released his Pokemon, one at a time. First one out was Magna. The fiery Slug gave a slight yawn and then made an odd motion that mimicked stretching. He was happy to be out of his confinement. Yuki first dried the remainder on Magna's super heated body and then wrapped the Bagon egg in the warmed clothes.

The next Pokemon out was Artemis. As soon as she was released, she took her normal perch and nuzzled Yuki's neck. "Happy to see you two Artemis." Yuki patted the bird and then lifted her off his shoulder to give her wing an inspection. Her wound was completely healed. What a marvel today's science was. Satisfied with the results, Yuki released Horsea and then Trapinch. Both looked pleased that they were called out without the need for battle. Umbros was the next to be called. He, like Magna, stretched and gave a yawn. Unlike the other four, Umbros was hoping he was going to get to battle again.

Yuki hesitated before releasing Loo. The creature was proving to have an odd behavior. Moody was possibly the only way to describe how Loo acted at times. The hulking behemoth looked around at first, his glaring red eyes surveying every nook and cranny of the field. Suddenly he did something Yuki never thought he'd see. Loo smiled. He was defiantly acting tame for once. Maybe he was starting to get used to Yuki, but that was a chance Yuki couldn't afford to take. Who knows what Loo was planning in his head.

"Ok guys. We are going to try learning some new moves. I need each of you to spread out so you don't end up as targets." All six Pokemon moved away from each other and Yuki. Yuki then went to each one and started to explain what he wanted them to do.

Loo was the first to recieve orders. Lucky Yuki.

"Ok Loo, were are going to try Hydropump. It’s a very strong attack and it seems perfect for you." Loo's chest swelled at the remark. Of course Loo would want to learn an attack if it were powerful. "Ok. It’s actually a fairly basic attack. All you need to do first is to form a lot of pressure in your body, and force out a torrent of water. It won't be like Water Pulse as there are no sonic waves, but its similar, you just have to hold a steady stream of the pressured water." Loo scratched his head a little at the instructions. "Its ok this book will help me help you make adjustments if the first try doesn't go so well. Don't start until I give the signal." Loo nodded and turned away from the other Pokemon to try and test out the attack.

Up next was the baby of the group, Trapinch.

"Hey there little guy." Yuki held out his hand and the Trapinch sniffed his hand. After a little bit of this the Trapinch allowed Yuki to pet it. "First we need to give you a name. You evolve into a Flygon and they look like jesters. How about I call you Jester?" The Trapinch didn't look happy nor did it show any signs of dislike. Yuki thought maybe he just didn't understand the meaning of the word. "Well we'll call you Jester for now on. You have a really simple move to learn, it’s called Dig. All you have to do is tunnel underground. Lets start you off easy. When I give the signal I want you to try and dig to me. You'll be the only one to see me while training." The Trapinch simply smiled. Yuki hoped that he understood what he was saying.

Next was Umbros.

Yuki approached the dark type dog that he liberated from its cruel master. On his team, other than Artemis, he has had Umbros the longest. The dog gave him a lazy look and then perked up a bit when Yuki got closer. By the time Yuki was near the dog, it was hyper and hopping about, wagging its tail. "Glad to see you are excited Umbros. Lets see what we can teach you." Yuki looked up Poochyena's moves. "Hmmm. Let's go for Iron Tail." Umbros yipped at the sound of the new attack. "Yuki opened the book he was carrying and opened it to a specific chapter. "Ok. We'll start by focusing the energy into your tail. You need to put a lot of energy into it so when you strike your opponent, they are hit with an iron like force. It shouldn't be too complicate. Wait for my signal and try to focus and then lash out with your tail. Try finding a rock or something to practice on." Umbros yipped and nodded before he started to search.

Now onto Magna.

Yuki moved onto Magna who was slightly more awake than when they first started. "I already decided on what you are to learn. We are going to continue our fire training from before. You now know how to produce fire, we now need to make it stronger. Instead of a bunch of separate fireballs, this time we are going to learn to make a stream of fire. Flamethrower is a basic attack like Ember. It incorporates the same principals. Inhale and then try to force the flames out as a stream. Imagine a narrow passageway when you attempt it. Just use your Ember training. Wait for my signal to start." Magna nodded and turned to face away from the other Pokemon.

Getting to the end, but first on to Horsea.

Yuki came up to his new Horsea. "You need a name as well. I already decided on one for you. You'll be Ariel. You share a name with my cousin Claire's Dratini." Ariel hopped up a bit but quickly turned serious. She knew what was coming and wanted to be ready. "A serious one we have here." Yuki smiled warmly, "Well that make me more eager to help teach you. You already know Water Gun, this is a form of it. Its called Water Pulse. I know you saw it in the battle with the Scyther so I shouldn't have to describe it that much. It’s a Water Gun with a sonar like sonic pulse inside. You need to create a sound wave when you fire off the Water Pulse. Let's try with adding the sonic waves to your Water Gun and firing that to see what happens.

And last but not the least, Artemis.

Yuki made it to the last of his Pokemon and gave a weak smile. "I'm glad we are only allowed to carry six Pokemon or this might be hard." Artemis cooed a soft chuckle as her trainer took a few breaths to cool off. Yuki was trying hard and he still had to make his choice on which he would enter into the Tournament. Artemis and Loo were obvious choices. Ariel was a little too strong compared to the others and he didn't want to put Loo and Artemis against those that were a lot higher leveled than them. Jester was still too young to participate in a major battle. The choice was brought down to Magna or Umbros. Yuki's decision would have to wait for a bit.

"Ok Artemis, you have a slightly odd attack to learn. It is called Mirror Move, and it allows you to copy your enemy's attack and use it against them. Learning this move means you have the potential to learn a lot of attacks that aren't listed in your information on all the league official information sites. I want you to carefully watch the others train. When you notice that one is making a lot of progress try to copy the progress they made. If you become successful and you copy the attack they did I'm sure you'll learn Mirror Move." Yuki's confidence infected Artemis and she cooed rather loudly as she took off and started to watch the other's train.

All that was left was to make up his mind and choose who will be his third Pokemon. Umbros is more versatile that Magna, but Magna's lava like body can prevent most if not all physical attacks. With the learning of the Flamethrower, Magna was one of the stronger members of Yuki's team along with Loo and Ariel. Artemis was a support Pokemon while Umbros served as a lead attack and distraction Pokemon. His decision will be easier to make once the training was all said and done.

Yuki walked back towards where he left the egg, and picked it up still bundled in his now cool clothes. He held the egg steady with one arm and lifted his free had to his mouth. He placed two fingers in his mouth and whistled to signal the start of the training.

Though it would be hard to see what each Pokémon was doing all at the same time, the book should help you keep them in check. Jester was about 15 feet in front of you; he looked at the ground, then his feet. It was obvious, he was a born digger. But the actual digging part wasn’t the problem; it was speed and direction of the digging. Little Jester looked at Yuki, then back at the ground again. It was only a straight line, and it was a short distance, simple enough, really.

He clawed the pile of dirt in front of him; his claws moved the dirt pretty easily. Getting both front paws in the formula. In a rapid movement, the big headed Pokémon got a pretty decent hole going quickly. He widened the hole, and started to make his way through it. Under the dirt you could feel with your feet his rhythm of digging. Hopefully his sense of direction was good enough to get to you; otherwise we would have a problem.

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw that Magna was to your left. He was already puffing out his gooey chest with the hot embers inside. Though flamethrower is a more difficult move then dig, it wasn’t too terribly advanced. He let out his inhaled breathe, letting out a few embers in rapid fire. He got the stream going for a few seconds, he didn’t get the power or the range quite right before it stopped being a stream and just returned to being ember bullets again. He would need a little more direction, but you noticed he took another deep breathe, maybe he was about to try again…?

Your other eye caught onto Loo’s move-teaching attempts, but he seemed to already show a lot more promise. He swelled his chest with pressure and immense amounts of water --thank Arceus for water gun--, letting it all out at once. A huge blast of water escaped him, the power was right on, but the water current didn’t last for too long. It shouldn’t be too hard to get that constant stream going, and luckily you noticed when Loo cracked his neck ready for another try.

You were about to look at another Pokémon’s training, when you noticed that the vibrations under you halted. Surely enough, little Jester popped out of the ground, but there was a problem, he was behind Magna about 30 feet away. Well, at least he was quick, he just needed to work on his direction and exactly how far he was going. Though this was something that you couldn’t really direct him on, it was something that he would have to do on his own… but if you find a way, more power to you!

Directly ahead of you, you noticed your little puppy working on Iron Tail. He focused hard on his tail, swinging it through the air over and over. It seemed more like tail whip then iron tail, he didn’t get what kind of energy he was trying to focus, and how he was going to go about doing that. He had found a nearby rock and already started to hit it, but he was getting nothing but grief from his poor little puppy tail. He started yipping at his tail, angry with its performance. Not even caring about the move anymore, he chased his tail, running around in circles. Yes, it was cute, but I think you need to be a bit more specific about your commands.

Suddenly to your left, you saw a huge stream of fire big enough to make any fire Pokémon jealous. Magna kept his stream of fire steady, trying to keep it under control, but eventually it disbursed. At least he had the concept of the stream mostly down, just keeping the stream going and maybe the range needed some work. Taking both these things and putting them together would be fabulous, but a hard task to finish up on.

To your right you saw little Horsea trying her best to get a hold of the concept of her move. Though you said that she saw the move in the battle, she didn’t have to best memory, and was squirting nothing but water. There were no sonic waves or pulses to help her get the move going. Struggling to get it down, she kept squirting out the water in spurts, but was still getting absolutely nothing. Maybe a recap of exactly what happens would help her get it going strong.

Last, but still not least, Artemis was watching all the other Pokémon carefully, but Marna the most. She studied his technique, trying to figure out how exactly she was going to copy it. She took the same stance as the blob, and took a deep breathe, trying to lock her energy on his fire. She blew out hard, but got nothing. Though, it was one of the hardest moves to learn by far, there wasn’t much hope in copying a move that powerful and advanced, even for a fire-type Pokémon. However, atleast Artemis had gotten the concept slightly, she knew what she was supposed to be watching for, she just... needed to look elsewhere.

Training seemed to go well for one half of your crew, but the other half was struggling. The Pokémon regrouped around you, waiting for their next orders. Things were looking up for some of them, but the others were just full of failure. Hopefully a little more direction from your book will help you push them to their goal, otherwise you have to be on your own.

Training was sort of going according to plan. Yuki remembered the difficulty Magna presented learning Ember the first time and that Sora's Horsea had an even harder time with Water Gun. The little issues he was seeing were easily corrected and with a little more time they could be sorted out. First things first, Yuki finally decided who was to be on his team for the Tournament.

"Guys time for a quick break." Yuki yelled out. All his Pokemon stopped what they were doing and started to make their way back to him. Loo, Magna, and Artemis were a little happy with the progress they made while Ariel and Jester were a bit disappointed. Umbros was still chasing his tail and after he finally caught it he returned to the rest of the group. "You are all doing good work out there. Unfortunately training all six of you at once is proving to be a little too difficult. Ariel and Umbros I’ll have to closely watch what you are doing and I need to finish Artemis, Loo, and Magna's training first. I'm going to enter them in the upcoming tournament, so you two can rest for a while. Jester you can play too, or you can continue trying to learn Dig on your own."

Ariel hopped her way over to the back of the building and settled down, Umbros started pawing at the dirt for a while, but eventually settled down for a nap. Jester started to paw at the ground as well. He wanted to try dig one more time, since Yuki gave him the Ok to learn on his own, he decided that he'd continue. His aim was for Ariel by the Pokemon Center.

Yuki turned his attention back to his remaining three. "As I just said, I've entered a Tournament that is scheduled to start soon. I want to try and finish off your training now seeing as I'm entering you three. We just need to focus on your training right now until you master these new moves."

All three smiled and nodded their heads. Each looked happy that they were chosen to be in the tournament. Yuki would have entered Umbros, but Umbros didn't make enough way with his attack to enter. He'll have to make due with these three.

"Magna you are up first. You've made the most progress with your learning and I want you to continue. Hold the stream as long as you can just like last time. Just keep trying to hold it as long as you can. Loo you'll have to do the same. Your attacks are somewhat the same other than the type choice. Watch how Magna controls the stream of fire and try to do the same with your stream of water. I want you two to try and aim for the same point. This will be a contest of skill and power. Who ever wins this little contest will be my leading Pokemon in the first battle of the tournament."

Oh it was on now. The fire of competition was set into both Loo and Magna's eyes, and Magna even had a confident smirk on his face, already taken the lead in the training as he had. Loo and Magna both turned and aimed for the same point. Both started practicing without Yuki's guidance, hell bent on being the lead Pokemon for the tournament.

Yuki's last Pokemon watched the heated display with a little wavering confidence. She wasn't doing as well as the other two, but she was a staple to Yuki's team and knew that was his only reason for choosing her over the others. "There, there girl. You don't have to worry about a thing. I picked you because you have been with me the longest and I know you'll fight harder than the others." Yuki smiled and Artemis cooed in return.

"We'll continue with your training as well. Putting those two against each other was to try and spark their competitive sides. I have a feeling it won't be long for them to learn their attacks. You'll just have to keep trying to copy the attacks that they produce. For a little added fun, you can aim for the same spot they are aiming for. No one said you couldn't be my lead Pokemon." Yuki smiled again and Artemis blushed. She was used to getting praised from Yuki, but she still acted as if it where her first time receiving praise for her hard work. She took off and found a nice position where she could watch the two and see the same spot they were aiming for. The battle of the moves just went from a duel to a battle royal.

How cool is it that your Trapinch is teaching itself! Saves you a bit of time and effort, plus you can focus on the others more. All the better to watch the competition you’d set up. Ah, nothing like a little competition between teammates to turn up the heat of determination. Maybe with the position of lead tournament team pokémon at stake Loo and Magna would learn their attacks, and quickly. It would certainly help you out if they had powerful attacks.

A burst of water met a blast of fire suddenly, causing a mini explosion. In reality the two attacks had simply collided and fizzled out. Loo and Magna had put too much emphasis on power and not enough on steadiness and stamina. Magna decided to go back to what he’d been doing: trying to keep control of the stream and keep it going. Against the initial blast of Loo’s stream of water it would falter, but after the attack fizzled the fire would still burn, earning him the position of lead pokémon. Loo also wanted to steady his stream, but he also wanted power. He would crush that little slug’s pitiful fire and prove that he was the one worthy to lead the team.

Artemis watched the pair of them, unsure how to proceed. Which attack should she try and copy for Mirror Move? Hmm…well, she’d already tried to copy Magna so why not do it again? Artemis sucked in a breath and blew it out, trying to make it as hot as possible. The breath she blew out was warmer than her normal breath, but still a far cry away from fire. Darn it all…she glanced at Jester, who was beginning to dig his way underground again. That looked easier than trying to breathe fire. Artemis flapped over to a patch of soft earth and began to claw at it with her feet. As quickly as she could she dug her way about five feet into the ground…and then fluttered back up to the surface, choking. Yuck, she had dirt in her mouth and it was all over her body. Artemis shook off the dirt, but she couldn’t quite get the taste of it out of her mouth.

Maybe it was because he was a Ground type, but Jester didn’t mind the dirt one bit. In fact, he welcomed it. He felt right at home underground. His claws and jaws were made for digging, and his hard, smooth skin let the dirt slip right off of him. Getting underground to use Dig was the easy part. Tunneling through the dirt or popping back up to the surface quickly wasn’t a problem either, but he had trouble sensing where his target was…but then he was just a baby. Given a little time and practice he would probably become an excellent Digger.

For instance, he was aiming for Ariel. When he came up the first time he found himself, of all places, right where the others were aiming. Thus the first thing he saw was a stream of water coming from one side and a stream of fire coming from the other. With a frightened squeal he immediately burrowed back into the ground, narrowly escaping the attacks. He popped up right next to you, looking a little disappointed. There was no point in giving up though, so he dove into the ground again and dug his way along in the direction Ariel was. He kept going and going…and hit something that was very hard. Oof, that hurt! When Jester surfaced he found that he’d run into the foundation of the Pokémon Center. Oops.

Hmm…maybe first he should try to tunnel while only being halfway underground so that he could see where he was going. Once he got the feel for moving around by tunneling he could try it underground, with a stationary target. He’d try a moving target when his sense of where he was going while underground was honed. Jester burrowed just deep enough into the ground that he could tunnel towards Ariel, not run or walk. Once positioned, he tunneled his way to her, making a note of how long it took him to reach her. Once he reached Ariel he burrowed completely underground and made his way back to you, counting off the time in his head. His head popped up right between your feet. Not bad at all!

Back to the competition. Magna fired a powerful Ember attack and poured out more and more fire until he had a good sized stream of fire going, holding the flow nice and steady. It was looking pretty good, although it wasn’t strong enough to be a blazing Flamethrower yet. Loo countered with a powerful burst of water. This time though, after the initial thrust, he worked on focusing the water and used less so that he could keep it up a little more. Most quick flashes of something didn’t do much, so he would work on flow and steadiness a bit. The two attacks sped right at the point you indicated and collided.

A split second later some sort of invisible force kept the two attacks a few feet apart, no matter how much power Loo and Magna put into them. Some mysterious force suddenly grabbed hold of the two pokémon and made their bodies seize up. Abruptly the attacks ended as Loo and Magna were immobilized. You caught a quick flash of something and then a Kadabra appeared in front of you looking bemused. He hadn’t appreciated being attacked upon appearing, but was giving you and your pokémon the benefit of the doubt for now. It might have been an accident…and for your sakes it had better be. Your mind was suddenly assaulted by some strange presence, and suddenly words rang through your mind: Are you ready to go? The tournament will begin anon, and you’d best be there, entrant. I will bring you and your pokémon to Joukai Tower, so be prepared for travel. With that the Kadabra lifted the four pokeballs on your belt into the air and tapped your four pokemon, recalling them. After doing so he teleported the book back to Nurse Joy's desk and enveloped you and himself in energy. The Kadabra's eyes began to glow a frightening blue for a moment, and before you knew it you were nothing but light in the air until you reached Joukai Pass.

Yuki was happy with the progress his team was making, though Artemis still needed work. She's starting to copy other moves, but she can't produce them. Maybe Yuki needed a different way to teach her the move. He had an idea, but it would have to wait until after they rested. Loo and Magna were starting to look tired from the strain of the tutoring. Yuki couldn't blame them, he was starting to push them a bit harder than he wanted to do, but the progress was amazing.

"Guys time for a brea.." Yuki couldn't move. None of his Pokemon could move. Something had stopped them in the middle of their training. When the Kadabra invaded his mind and released the hold it had on them Yuki was a bit terrified. Another Psychic type had infiltrated his mind when his guard was down, and this one was a lot stronger than Sora's Beldum.

In a blink of an eye, Yuki's Pokemon were returned and he found himself whisked away using the Kadabra's teleport. Yuki ended up in a very familiar area. After a quick look around, Yuki knew where they were...back where he first started. Joukai Pass. Well this was a tad bit depressing, seeing as he just left this place a few hours ago.

"Well I suppose I should have seen this coming, but it is still very much an unexpected surprise." Yuki started to walk off a distance to separate himself from the Kadabra. He didn't like the Psychic type being that close to him. As soon as he felt he was a safe distance he re-released Loo, Magna, and Artemis to resume their training.

"Loo and Magna, we'll continue the competition here. It shouldn't be too long for the tournament to start so we need to get these moves down as soon as possible." Both nodded eagerly. They wanted the new attacks as much as Yuki did, but more importantly they wanted to see which of them would get the lead spot for the Tourney. "I want you both to do the same exercise that I think will help. First, fire off your attacks, but only concentrate on making it a steady and stable stream. While you are using the attack gradually add power to the attack. Keep this up until the move starts to fail and then start over. This will help to exercise the practice needed to use the attacks."

Both turned quickly and started to work on their attacks. "This should help you too Artemis. Watch them carefully as they do the attacks. Feel the energy they release and then match that energy yourself. I think we may have been going at this all wrong. What you need to do is mimic the energy produced by the attacks and not try to force you to use attacks yourself. Concentrate of creating a mirror image of the energy used to create the move and then release it when you feel the time is right. Yuki stood back to give his Pokemon the room they needed to execute their moves. He also prayed that this was their final attempt at mastering the attacks.
