((OOC: Make sure you don't forget that Kadabra is cursed now))

Sam, Sam, Sam...He seemed so potentially smart, but he just wasted his intelligence by being a total moron. As I returned Nero to his Pokeball and replaced him with my Ditto, whom I had yet to name, Sam said to me, "You see it's exactly as I told you. You act so tough yet on the inside you're weak. As soon as the battle got to a point where you started to doubt your abilities you return your Pokemon. Hmmm, maybe you're not all bad...at least you care for your Pokemon. Now, lets continue." He was right about my caring for my Pokemon. They were not tools. They were living creatures with personalities and usefulness beyond fighting and breaking and entering. They were the only friends I could trust to be forever by my side. Why would I want to harm them?

Responding to his retorts, I said, "My abilities?" I asked. "What do I have to do with this? You poisoned Nero so that he would become weaker and weaker every turn. Why would I want to harm him more than necessary since he will soon be unable to fight? He might like pain, but that is not something I want him to be exposed to. As for returning him when the battle turns south, of course. Any good general knows when to tell his Pokemon to stop fighting. A determined and healthy soldier is always better than a determined and weakened soldier. ALWAYS." I didn't raise my voice, but I emphasized that point a lot because to be honest, Sam and his apparent stupidity and ignorance were beginning to annoy me.

Returning my attention to my battle, I watched as Ditto cursed Kadabra and Caligula went in for a Fire Punch attack. The attack knocked Kadabra through the floorboards and onto the floor below. I assumed that would hurt a little bit. Captain and Charmeleon were again locked in a deadly fight, but Captain pulled up on top this time. He managed to hit the Charmeleon with a solid Ancient Power attack. I nodded to myself, very pleased with Captain's performance. Ditto attempted to hit Kadabra with a Lick attack, but he was thrown away by a Psychic blast. That Kadabra was stronger than it looked and it was becoming a major pain. Still, there was time left to go and the playing field was much more even now.

I began to call out my commands. "Alright. Ditto, find a target and use Lick. Gastly or Kadabra are good bets. Caligula, burn them to the ground. Make the right choice. Captain, excellent work. Still, Charmeleon is no match for you. Try to Stare him down (Staredown) and then rush in to use Ancient Power. Watch for any attacks that might get in your way though." I smirked at Sam and began to lie back down. I was tired. I had been walking for the better part of the day, and now, I was in this mess. This was going to be a long night.

Have you ever got someone so angry that their face would turn red and that weird vein would appear by their temples? That would be the best way to describe Sam's face after you, once again, started to undermine him.

"You're getting on my nerves." He started, after you're little speech. "AND STAND UP!! SHOW SOME RESPECT!!" He yelled. He took a step forward and pointed at you. "Hehe, oh well. I'm still gonna teach you a lesson. This round you'll realise the true power of my pokemon. Kadabra, use Future Sight. Things are going a little differently than I had anticipated. Gastly, your still going strong. Time to hit that Abra of his with a Lick attack, then use Hypnosis. Charmeleon use a Smokescreen on that Charmander, then blast him with a Flamethrower." Sam yelled, allowing time for his pokemon to take in their orders, before attacking.

Your pokemon also took a few seconds to absorb the information. But soon they were ready and the battle could continue. Both Ditto and Caligule stayed at the back in order to look for an opening whilst Captain went dived in to continue his battle with Charmeleon. As instructed by Sam Charmeleon started to spew out smoke. As a result the battlefield was covered in a thick, gaseous fog that severly reduced vision. This meant that Captain's Staredown was unseen. However, even through this fog Captain tried to fid Charmeleon. He ran in a random direction until he saw a shadowy figure. Instead of just firing the Ancient Power though, he made sure to get closer, to make sure he wouldn't harm you or his companions. The shadowy figure seemed to be a pokemon with their legs crossed and their arms bent, taking a meditative stance. It didn't look like Caligula or Ditto so Captain fired his Ancient Power, shooting the golden beam through the smoke towards this target. A powerful explosion was heard and even more smoke was let into the area.

Caligula and Ditto were still waiting to attack. They waited until the smoke had cleared. It slowly started to fade and the battlefield was slowly unveiled. In front of them was Captain, glowing slightly from Ancient Power's effect. Ahead of him, was Kadabra, a look of shock on his face. The attack had shot straight past him, missing him by a few millimetres. This second of shock made him drop his guard for a split second. Within that split second of Kadabra dropping his guard, Caligula teleported and pounded the back of Kadabra's head with Fire Punch, sending him flying towards you, leaving a large mark in the wall behind you. Ditto decided that Kadabra was completely defenceless so went in for a Lick attack, causing extra damage. A shrill was then heard as the Curse took it's effect. Kadabra was seriously injured.

Next was Sam's Gastly who appeared just after Caligula hit with the Fire Punch. He also used a Lick attack. Due to the level differences between them, Caligula took a large amount of damage, but getting mad and refusing to give up, he turned round and delivered a Fire Punch right to Gastly's face. Hitting the ghost pokemon hard before it got a chance to turn invisible.

((OOC: Why are YOU calling him Sam now? That's just the name I gave him.))

I smiled broadly as I finally began to annoy Sam. His face turned red and veins pumped massive amounts of blood to his now adrenalin fueled mind. My pointless banter was merely a way to pass the time for me, but Sam appeared to be taking it personally. What a fool. His response to my minor speech was just as foolish as everything else the poor man had said. I take back my comments from before about Sam being somewhat smart. He was just someone who was good at bullshitting things. And I began to wonder how such an idiot managed to get Pokemon so strong with moves beyond their strength. His words still amused me. He said, "You're getting on my nerves. AND STAND UP!! SHOW SOME RESPECT!!" Taking a step forwards, he pointed at me. "Hehe, oh well. I'm still gonna teach you a lesson. This round you'll realise the true power of my pokemon." I shook my head and became extremely dismayed in Sam.

I decided to ignore Sam until my Pokemon were finished getting their orders. He didn't deserve respect from me, and I was not about to give it to him. I finished watching as Sam's Charmeleon exhaled smoke from its mouth in a Smokescreen attack. In the confusion, Captain threw an Ancient Power attack at someone, but it missed by millimeters. Still, the attack allowed Caligula and Ditto to attack Kadabra with Fire Punch and Lick respectively. Kadabra's curse also exacted painful revenge on the poor creature, which was likely close to fainting. I noted its apparent weakness and decided that I would not attack it further. Sam's Gastly managed to Lick Caligula, but Caligula was quick to turn around and smash a flaming fist into Gastly's face before it vanished from sight once more.

I called out to my Pokemon giving orders for the next round, "Ditto, Caligula, your target is Gastly. Find him and eliminate him. Watch for Kadabra." I began to tell them to ignore the Kadabra, but I changed my mind and said, "Ditto, go over there and get rid of it with a Lick attack now. Then deal with Gastly. Find it and use Lick. Caligula, Fire Punch that bastard Gastly until it dies." Turning to Captain, I said, "Captain, my friend. You're doing excellent. Its time to show that Charmeleon why we're better than him and his trainer. Find an opportune moment to use Ancient Power and then fire it with all the power you've got. When you hit him, it will hurt a lot. You've gotten stronger in this battle from when you started. Now show me that strength!" Captain smiled his typical grin of gleeful determination, and paced around, watching Charmeleon with wary eyes that caught every motion. Captain felt that he was on top of the world. He was a master of his own destiny and his destiny was to destroy that Charmeleon.

Responding finally to Sam, I said, "Respect, sir? Respect? What respect do I owe you? I have broken into your home. I am complying with your wishes for a Pokemon battle that is clearly out of my league. I see no reason to give you any respect. I have no care for what you think of me. I am my own man, and you will not change that. Your opinion of me is nothing to me. My opinion of you is that I do not care about you at all. You are nothing to me, and I will not have you influence me in the slightest." I smiled lightly and returned my face to a serious one permanently. This man was too amusing. I cannot allow myself to be amused so easily in the future. Showing emotion shows a certain weakness to my foes that I cannot allow. Sam here might think otherwise, but a professional would not show so much emotion however amusing his foe was. Self-control. I had to have self-control.

[OOC = His name isn't Sam as you know but instead of writing "guy whos name wasn't Sam" I'm just going with Sam as it saves us both time when reading and writing. If you look in the pokemon battling part you'll see I've labelled him as Opponent rather than Sam, showing that I am not saying his name is definately Sam]

"Hmph, fine" Sam said, after you refused to respect him. "It's not like I should care what you think. And you are correct, you did agree to do battle with me even though the odds were against you. In fact there should be no way you should win. My pokemon are trained warriors that have withstood many adversities to become as strong as they can. Yet, you are winning? This is truly a battle that proves that just because an opponenet looks stronger, doesn't mean it is impossible to win." Sam said with a smile, "And I never said this was my house...did I?" He finished with a mocking laugh.
"Kadabra my friend, excellent battling. Attack with Psychic, use all the energy you can muster. Charmeleon, follow my orders as I give them, okay? Gastly, stay hidden until the oppurtune moment that you can use Lick on his Abra." Sam yelled, as he put his hands into his pocket.

The battle orders set, it was time to see how they would be played out. Ditto, following your orders, went for Kadabra and prepared to use Lick to finish it off. Under Sam's orders, Kadabra used a Psychic to deliver a powerful blast of energy so that even though he was soon to leave the battlefield, he could leave his mark. Unfortunately the amount of damage he had taken prevented him from using Psychic at full power. Ditto was knocked back, but it didn't take much damage. However Ditto had no use for Lick as after taking the Psychic attack, Kadabra's eyes lost all colour to them as the Curse took it's toll, and Kadabra slumped to the floor, lifeless. Sam pulled out a pokeball and returned Kadabra, whispering something to the pokeball that was probably thanks.

Next up was Gastly. Keeping himself hidden he watched as Caligula waited for the moment he would smash the little ghost to pieces. Gastly floated around Caligula and appeared behind him getting his tongue out and preparing to Lick him. As his was about to use Lick Caligula teleported. In a flash Sam reacted and yelled
"NO GASTLY IT'S A TRICK. DISAPPEAR!!"
Caligula appeared behind Gastly with an evil smile on his face. His fist had flames blazing around it and he swung at full power. At the last second Gastly disappeared and the attack missed. Angry with himself Caligula made sure he was ready for Gastly's sudden appearence, which happened almost straight away as he took the ghost pokemon's Lick, retaliating with a Fire Punch. Caligula was seriously injured, but his determination meant that he would not give up just yet. Using the last of his strength he continuassly assaulted Gastly with another two ferocious Fire Punches. The Gastly took the full force of the attack but wasn't out just yet. Caligula, exausted and beaten, dropped to the floor, struggling to pick himself back up. The power of Caligula knocked Gastly back a few inches and Ditto, in Gastly's form would then appear to deliver a Lick of it's own. Gastly was shocked at this and it seemed like he couldn't move. Paralysis had taken affect.

Now was the battle between the two proud fire-type pokemon. Captain Vs Charmeleon. Both pokemon circled each other as they both waited for an oppurtune moment to launch an attack. Charmeleon was still waiting for his master to order an attack, however he refused to break eye-contact with Captain.
"Now Charmeleon, run in and use Metal Claw." Sam yelled.
Nodding Charmeleon ran in and his claws shone with a steel-like glint. As he jumped in the air to gain more momentum Captain fired his Ancient Power. The attack held so much power that it forced Captain to take a few steps back in order to stay in control of it. The attack grew closer and closer to Charmeleon, until Sam yelled out
"Now Charmeleon use all the power you can muster to launch a Flamethrower."
From up high in the air, Charmeleon launched a Flamethrower at full power that heated up the entire room. The two attacks met in the middle and even though Captain had been powered up, he couldn't seem to beat the Flamethrower that Charmeleon had thrown the majority of his power into. The attacks exploded and flames were spewed all across the room, setting room alight as the bookcase and the door were hit with sparks and burst into fire.

Sam simply laughed at this. The laugh was meniacal and when he spoke, not a hint of fear was found in his voice.
"Hahaha this battle is nearly finished. And so are you. Will you let this house be your grave?"
Funnily enough the fire seemed under control. The door burned and the books on the bookcases were burned to cinders, but the fire had yet to spread. There was still time to finish this battle.

"Hmph, fine" Sam grumbled after I continued to mock him. "It's not like I should care what you think. And you are correct, you did agree to do battle with me even though the odds were against you. In fact there should be no way you should win. My Pokemon are trained warriors that have withstood many adversities to become as strong as they can. Yet, you are winning? This is truly a battle that proves that just because an opponent looks stronger, doesn't mean it is impossible to win." As a side note, Sam, with a seemingly mocking smile, mentioned, "And I never said this was my house...did I?" He completed his minor speech with a stupid giggle that just made him sound more like an imbecile.

I made no comment to Sam because I had decided that his kind was unworthy of speaking to. He was obviously a pathetic excuse for humanity that needed to be eradicated. However, I was not willing to remove him from this life myself. I also considered ransom, for Sam could be the child of the master of this house, merely playing word games with me. I doubted this and decided against the idea, for I did not want to spend my hours with Sam. Never in a million lifetimes would I be willing to do that. I stored a mental picture of him in my head so that I could perhaps send someone to kill him later. As I mused about who Sam could be, the battle progressed.

Sam's Kadabra died of its Curse without the need for Ditto to use Lick. Ditto did get hit by a minor Psychic attack, but it appeared to do little damage. Sam's Gastly, on the other hand, was still rather strong. The ghost got hit by two incredible Fire Punches, but Caligula also got nailed by a powerful Lick attack. Caligula was near collapse, but I knew better than to take him out of the battle. I watched as Ditto also managed to land an attack on the other ghost Pokemon, giving it the shivers. I had heard that paralysis was possible with a Lick attack, but I had never truly believed it. Perhaps it was true.

Mentally shrugging that info away, I watched as Charmeleon and Captain fought again. These two were easily an excellent match for each other and I was quite proud of Captain for remaining so strong during this fight. When Captain unleashed his Ancient Power attack, Charmeleon was in the air firing a Flamethrower attack at the beam of golden light. The two beams collided once more, setting fire to the building around us. I groaned as this happened because I had received nothing from this night in terms of profit and I was going to lose everything when the house burned down. What a waste.

I stood up and dusted myself off as Sam warned me that this place would be my grave. I said nothing and remained stoic, dusting myself off with my hands. I walked over to the picture I had seen before and picked it up. I glanced at it and then stuck it into my pocket. Returning my full attention to the battle, I called to my Pokemon. "Caligula, you're still standing so take out Gastly with everything you've got. You've basically only one chance left. Make this one count the most. Burn Gastly to ashes. Ditto, nice work there. Captain, also good work. Its time this battle was finished." Utilizing Caligula's telepathy, I ensured that my commands were kept a secret. Captain, Ditto, you're going to switch places with each other. Captain, I want you to feint an attack towards Charmeleon but at the last second, jump up and fire an Ember at the unsuspecting Gastly. When you land again, hopefully Ditto will have finished his portion of this plan and you can fire an Ancient Power as fast as you can at Charmeleon. Ditto, you need to go invisible and sneak behind Charmeleon. When you do, use Lick on it. Aim for the spine and try to paralyze it. You should try to give it the most unpleasant experience possible for the longest amount of time so that Captain has a clear shot for Ancient Power. Got it? Good. Go. My Pokemon knew enough to make no sounds and to just carry out their commands without a hitch. Captain rushed towards Charmeleon, claws raised. Caligula summoned fire to his fists and watched Gastly with a scrutinizing eye. Ditto merely disappeared, but I knew he was headed straight for Charmeleon, about to give the large lizard the fright and shivers of its life. Betraying my previous resolution, I couldn't help but crack a grin. This plan was perfect and when it was done, I would just leave, leaving no record of my presence behind.

I wonder if Remmy (yes thats his name) knew how this battle would turn out? Maybe he thought because his pokemon were a few levels higher, he would win. If so it wasn't the smartest thought as life was never that simple, as he was about to find.

Captain was ready to finish this battle. He charged full speed at Charmeleon and prepared to fire a mighty attack. Charmeleon prepared to counter and turned his claws to steel, preparing a Metal Claw. Just as he launched his attack Captain jumped into the air spun around to turn to face Gastly. He spewed out some flames that flew towards the paralyzed Gastly. Trapped in solid form, Gastly took the hit and could do nothing to protect itself. That was when Caligula jumped into the frame. With an evil smile he continued to batter away at the Gastly with a blaze of Fire Punches until there was nothing left of Gastly but a puff of smoke. Remmy returned his Gastly and whispered to it once again, perhaps thanking it for it's efforts.

At the same time, Charmeleon launched his Metal Claw. With Captain feinting his attack, Metal Claw met no target. The missed attack annoyed Charmeleon and he prepared to attack Captain, who was in the air, using Ember. However Ditto, taking Gastly's form, appeared suddenly behind him, using Lick. The attack seemed quite effective but alas it did not stop Charmeleon's movement, rather it delayed him whilst he recovered and struck Ditto with a barrage of Metal Claws. Don't worry, the attacks didn't kill, but Ditto was immensly weakened. Charmeleon, using these attacks obviously did not expect Captain to land on the ground behind him and fire off the most powerful Ancient Power you had seen this battle. The attack came completely unannounced and Charmeleon, turning at the last second could do nothing to prevent this awesome attack, knocking him out cold.

The battle was won. Remmy returned his final pokemon and sighed. He had lost.
"Well, congrtaulations I guess." He said. He spoke softly, there was not much emotion in his voice. He pulled out a strange, yellow crystal. He threw a pokeball to the ground and Kadabra appeared once again. He was unconscious and could do nothing. The crystal reacted with Kadabra and a strange power seemed to flow through him. The crystal began to grow fainter and eventually all the colour was drained out of it. Kadabra's eyes opened and he stood up, stretching and looking around. His immediate reaction was shock as he saw the room ablaze but settled down when he noticed Remmy did not look concerned in the slightest. "Thankyou for the battle Vince. Things went...just as expected." He smiled, but it wasn't an evil smile. "Now then I told you I would provide you with some information and I shall. The safe downstairs. The code is 16. The treasures in their are pretty valuable. Okay Kadabra use Teleport. Lets get out of here." He finished as Kadabra held his shoulder and disappeared into thin air.

I think it was safe to say this house wouldn't last much longer, but maybe there was still time to get to the safe. The fire had only just started spreading on the upstairs floor. Anyway whatever you decide to do, you need to get out of here quickly.

Congratulations you beat a powerful opponent.
Captain gained 13(46/13)/4 = 11.5 :exp

I watched as my plan (as always) went as planned. Captain did an excellent rendition of Ember as he burned Gastly out of the fight. Then, as he landed, he carried out an Ancient Power attack that blew Charmeleon to bits. Of course, in the meantime, Ditto had managed to carry out a Lick attack, stunning Charmeleon for long enough to ensure that Captain's Ancient Power ended the fight. As for that Gastly, Caligula finished him off with a fury of Fire Punches. This battle was over. I nodded to Sam who just spoke to me about how that vault I had 'failed' to open was now unlocked. The password was 16. Simple, yet effective. I shrugged wondering if that paper had anything to do with it.

When he finished his speech of the dumb, he teleported out of here. At least he had the sense to teleport out of here. Shrugging and hoping that his Kadabra was weak enough so that he landed in a portion of the fire that was consuming this building. As for myself, I sighed and turned to do what I came here for. Rob, steal, and pillage the place. I looked around at the room I was in and took a few books with me that appeared valuable. Next, I ran to the room with the safe, entered the code and took all that was inside. With such items in my hand, the building was getting to be quite warm. Thus, I shook my head and told Caligula to teleport us out of this dump. Luckily, everything would be burned to the ground when we were gone. Though I hated to do it, I told Captain, "Captain, throw a few Embers around to ensure this place is gone." I returned Ditto to his Pokeball and then moved on. It was time to leave. I returned Captain to his Pokeball, and Caligula telported us out of there.

When we rematerialized, we were standing in the alley outside of the Pokemon Center. I walked into the building and waited to have my Pokemon healed. When they were done, I requested a single room from the kindly nurse. After being shown to my room by an overly-friendly Blissey, I crashed onto the bed. I finally looked at the items I had taken. As I emptied my pockets, I hoped that it was a useful venture tonight. If it wasn't, I would likely be quite angry.

[OOC - Remember the piece of paper with all the numbers? There were 16 numbers split into groups of four. Each group of four had the numbers 1 and 6 in there.

Lets take a few steps back and remember everything that happened tonight. A simple robbery, interrupted by a simple man, who was defeated and disappeared into nothingness. Who knows where he might of gone, who cares where he might have gone. All that mattered was that you had beaten him like you said and had acquired a fair few items that may or not prove useful. Lets analyse them whilst you are waiting for the Nurse to appear with your pokemon.

First of all was the books you had taken from the bookcase. They were slightly charred, but easily readable. There were three books in total. One had the title "How To Raise Pokemon." Skimming through it seemed to have basics in move tutoring and how to treat pokemon during this time. The second book was titled "The Mystery of Ho-oH." This book tried to explain why Ho-oH only appeared to a select few trainers, and why those trainers would be blessed during their travels. It looked quite old, it might be quite valuable. The third book was labelled "Scientology - Is It True?" It looked worthless but you might be able to get something from them.

Next were the items you had taken from the safe. And my my what prizes they were. You had certainly picked a wealthy man to rob. You had acquired $2000 from the safe!! Thats right $2000. What a score. Then there was a pokeball. It seemed to contain a pokemon. With a poof, out popped a Wooper. She looked at you with a look of confusion. Obviously she didn't know where she was. It was up to you if you kept her. Next was a key. A simple, old key. It must've been used in the house somewhere. Or maybe it was used somewhere else. The chances of you finding what door it opened would be near impossible so in my opinion it was pretty worthless. There were also two empty pokeballs...though why they were in a safe I'll never know, and a silver ring with an engraving saying "To my one and my only." It looked expensive. So were the rewards worth it? I wouldn't complain about it if it were me. Anyway the Nurse knocked on your door and upon opening it she handed your pokeballs to you and went on her way. Looks like you free to go wherever you want. I can hear police sirens in the background. Maybe it would be best to get out of here...just in case.

I took my things from my pockets and began to organize everything that I had on my person. I put my 13,336 dollars onto the bed. The items from my raid were 2000 more dollars, three books, which I put off to the side to deal with later, a key, which I had no idea what was for, the mirror, a silver ring, and three Pokeballs. One of the Pokeballs held a small Wooper in it. I had no need for the Wooper, so I made a note to offer it for a trade. No, I looked at the books. The first was a book on the Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh. It looked old and valuable, but it might be more lucrative to keep the book and use it. I put it in one pile. The next book was a book on something called Scientology. I skimmed the book and immediately cast it into the sell pile, next to the Wooper's Pokeball. The third book was on how to raise Pokemon. I kept it because a lot of my Pokemon were slightly unruly, so the book might have some tricks to help me. Having organized everything I wanted, I was ready to get some rest. I left Captain out and told him to watch for any disturbances in the room and wake me if anything should happen. In a little while, he woke me because he was tired. I began to swap the guards around every once in a while. In this way, I got some rest. At 9:00 sharp, I got up and took all of my things and packed them away. All except the ring, which I put on my finger.

I walked back to the main entrance and left the place. I had a number of errands to run today. The first of these was to a vendor selling bags on the street. I bought one of the bags (OOC: Price is irrelevant) to put all of my things in. Having done so, I went to my next stop. I passed through the doors of the Sullivan Corcoran Incorporated Bank, or SCI for short. In there, I opened up an account and put $10,000 in it. Sure, it was a lot of money, but I didn't need much more. Then, I put $2,336 in a safety deposit box account. In that account, I put my two blueprints that I wouldn't need for a while. Having finished my work in the bank, I left to enter a bookstore. There, I sold my book on Scientology for $25. I didn't want it or need it. I left the store and sat on the stoop of the store. Releasing my Pokemon, I prepared to teach them some new moves and advanced tactics. Opening the book on how to teach Pokemon, I looked up after having read a few seconds of it.

Standing right in front of me, was my newest addition, a Sneasel, Caracalla. Before I could react, he ripped his claws across my face and left me with two light gashes that were just deep enough to leave a scar. They also managed to miss my right eye completely. I yelled out in pain as the blood began to ooze from my wounds. I grasped Caracalla's face and threw him away from me. Then, I took a shirt from my bag and wrapped it around my bleeding eye. This was not going to stop me from training. Ignoring any and all looks I got from people, I began to train my Pokemon.

To Caligula, I began to teach the move Calm Mind. I told him to find all the anger in himself and let it out. Caligula, find the center of calm within you. The anger is a part of you, but find the place where you can control it; where you can give it form and allow it to give you strength. Meditate with the intent of finding that. Caligula's presence vanished from my mind as he began to work towards his new goal. To Caracalla, I began to teach him the move Night Slash. I told him, "Caracalla. Use your innate powers to extend an aura of darkness around you and then charge forwards, slashing with all your might." Caracalla glared viciously from where I had thrown him, but obeyed my commands and began to extend his aura around him.

To Captain, I gave three more of those "rare" candies that I had found a long while ago. After giving them to him, I told him, "Now, Captain use Ember and try to increase the fire that you use. Extend it into a large beam of fire. Remember the move that the Charmeleon from before used. Its called Flamethrower. But be careful. Don't burn anything. Use the ground as your target." Captain nodded and went about his work. To Nero, I began to teach him the move Shadow Ball. I told him, "Nero, you are going to try to learn the move Shadow Ball. You must gather up innate energy and give it form in this world. Try that first. Try to make it get an orb like shape." Nero began to gather up energy as well. Finally, to my Heracross, I began to tell him to try to learn the move Megahorn. I said to him, "Come now, Heracross. Its simple really. Just use your giant horn and give it some extra juice. Then, hit something with it. For our purposes, we're just going to stick with charging the energy. Ok?" Heracross nodded and began meditating too. With all of my Pokemon meditating, I sat back and took out my mirror to examine my face. It wasn't too bad, and it wouldn't be dangerous, but it would leave a cirss-crossed scar over my right eye. I shrugged and watched my Pokemon training. As I did so, I realized that I had messages informing me that I had traded my Houndour and a few Pokeballs. I smiled to myself and agreed that it was a fine trade. Now then, the future awaits me.

((Notes: I'm not sure if someone already updated your profile in regards to the Rare Candies. If not, PM me and I'll do it. Also, I tried to accurately portray your pokemon's personalities as in your profile. Heracross I didn't see a file for...so, if I am off on any of them please let me know and I'll fix it. Sorry Caracalla has only one paragraph...I can probably flesh it out into two if you'd like.))

Wow, teaching new moves to five different pokémon at the same time…you sure wanted a challenge! Alright, let’s tackle this in order of commands issued. Caligula was meditating, searching for the anger within so he could channel it into power, power he could use to crush his enemies. Finding the anger was easy enough, but how to control it? How could he transform that fever into a power he could use? There was definitely a lot of power to be gained if he could figure that out. And with power…he could rise up above all others! Well-that and his cunning brain. Braun alone never won much of anything other than maybe a fight…sometimes. Time and time again he let the anger suffuse his being, but alas, he was anything but calm when he did so.

Oof, this was frustrating. Still, Caligula was determined to figure it out! He gathered his anger together in the core of his being and released it, trying to control its flow. If he could do that much, it would be a nice start. From there he’d worry about gaining power from the anger. He tried again, gathering his anger together and then letting it flow through him. He could feel the burning hot energy as it raced around within him. If only he could figure out how to control and focus it…

Hmm, this attack sounded interesting…Night Slash…ought to do plenty of damage. Smiling at the thought of tearing his opponents apart with the attack, Caracalla focused. He wasn’t thrilled with you, but he did want to get stronger. Innate power…yes, that was a good idea; he had plenty of dark power to pour into such an attack. Caracalla called on the power within him and let it fill his being…but then it slipped away, right out of his grasp. No! Once more he sought the power out and called it forth so that it filled him…but once more he lost his grip and it fizzled out before he could even think of expanding it outside of his body into a dark aura.

Captain wasn’t having much luck either. After eating the three Rare Candies you gave him he felt a little funny...suddenly his body glowed brilliant white and began to change. He could feel new power coursing through him...the light faded...."Charmeleon!" he cried as he finished evolving. For a minute he tested his new form and power, but his mind was quickly back on task: learning Flamethrower. He sucked in a deep breath, reached for the ire inside his belly, and blew out as much of it as he could…but all he managed was a very sloppy Ember attack; the fireballs were more fire flares that fizzled out almost immediately. Okay, that wasn’t right. Switching tact, Captain fired an Ember attack and tried to make it stronger. He managed to spit out somewhat larger fireballs and many more of them than his normal Ember attack, but he was a long ways away from that steady stream of fire he’d seen coming out of Charmeleon’s mouth.

Hrm…maybe he needed to work on his endurance first. What good was a stream of fire if he could only maintain it for a second, maybe less? Taking another deep breath, Captain blasted the ground in front of him with Ember as long as he could. Determined to do well, he was trembling and breathing hard when he finally stopped, about fifteen seconds later. He wanted to be able to do it longer, and tried again. And again. And again. Eventually he managed to hold his Ember for a full thirty seconds, which in his mind was plenty long enough for a start. Now he had to try and power up his little Ember into a strong, roaring blaze that would come out of his mouth.

Nero pondered what you’d said a moment before he began meditating. Innate power…well, he supposed for him that would be his ghostly power, and he was all for it. The possibilities of what he could do with the move (besides attack pokémon in battle) practically made him drool. Oh yeah, he was going to do this! The thing was that the doing was much harder than expected. Still, Nero couldn’t help but have fun, even in failure.

For instance, his first try. Nero focused on gathering up his ghostly power and focusing it into a ball in front of him. He managed to call forth the power and it even began to take shape somewhat-but then it blew up in his face. Just as if he had meant to pull off some kind of slap-stick comedy routine, Nero burst out laughing. This was a tad frustrating, but mostly it was good fun to him! He tried again; condensing his ghostly energy into a much more solid ball of energy before it blew up in his face again, making him giggle. The third time he didn’t even manage to get the ball; when the ghostly energy was beginning to come together it just flew apart, the pieces of ghost energy just barely missed you and your other pokémon. Of course, Nero thought this was hilarious. He couldn’t wait until his next attempt, to see what would happen!

Well, Heracross had a simple enough task. All he had to do was charge his horn with bug energy. Nothing terribly complex about that. Yeah…it was very simple…yet it proved quite difficult to accomplish. Megahorn was a high-level move, and Heracross wasn’t even halfway there yet. He could charge his horn with bug energy, sure, but it wasn’t much. His horn glowed very faintly, almost impossible to see in the daylight. With a sigh he let the energy fad and rested a moment before trying again. This time his horn glowed a little more brightly, but Heracross was having trouble finding and concentrating enough energy into his horn. Did he really have that kind of power somewhere inside of him? Right now he was really doubting it, but giving up wasn’t an option.

After a moment of thinking, Heracross decided to try and find enough energy to fill his horn with…or at least a bit more. He closed his eyes and reached deep into his heart and soul, searching for the power that must be there. Eventually he found a bit more and managed to get his horn to glow bright green, very gently. It still was nowhere near a full-blown Megahorn, but it was something. The energy was hard to control though; Heracross wasn’t used to directing that much at once and it slipped away. There was no point in searching for more power when he couldn’t handle this level, so Heracross tried again, pouring the energy into his horn. That was fine, but he couldn’t hold it there for any length of time.

Grah…maybe even this modest amount of power was too much to start with. Heracross cut the power he added to his initial amount in half and tried again. It was a bit easier to keep the energy focused in his horn, but it was still a challenge. The glow wasn’t much brighter than the feeble glow Heracross had produced at first. A sudden inspiration struck Heracross and he poured just a little more power into his horn. That was fine, he could hold onto that. He added a little more and was able to handle that…and kept on going until he had worked his way up to the amount that had given him so much trouble before. It was an excellent start, but Heracross knew he needed a lot more power in his horn to do any real damage to opponents. He would have to keep on working at building the amount of power in his horn, starting with finding more of it within himself; diving deeper into that core part of him where the power was.

Everyone I had tried their best and each of them succeeded well beyond my expectations. No one had quite succeeded yet, but I knew that with a bit more work, my work would pay off. The book I had been using was useful, but it hadn't given me much insight that I wouldn't have used otherwise. I shrugged, shut the book and put it into my new bag. Then, I returned my attention to my Pokemon. First, I addressed Caligula. I said to him, "Good Caligula. Now that you've found the power inside of you, you need to let it flow through you. I know you want to try to control it and direct it, but you can't. All you have to do is find that source of inner strength and let it consume you. Let it fuel you to new heights of power. Find it and let it fill you. Go." Caligula set to work now.

Next, I turned to Caracalla. I saw him concentrating but he couldn't seem to get his energy to reach outside of him. I began to tell him something that I would tell a number of my Pokemon. "Caracalla. You're doing well. The power that you are about to use is there. I know that you can feel it. But, you have to let it come to you. Find it and let it build up before you cast your power into the attack. Make sure you can feel that you have enough strength to surround yourself in darkness before you let it out and attack with speed, precision, and fury." Caracalla grinned maliciously as he heard my description of the attack, and he headed into himself, looking for that center of power.

As I looked to Captain, he began to glow and he evolved into a Charmeleon. I looked surprised, but I was also relieved. Those stupid candies I had found did have some sort of use. I made a note to keep them in reserve for later and I watched as he managed to spit a few embers about before he took some initiative to find his internal flame and fire a stream of fireballs. He had made a lot of fireballs and he could sustain it for a while which was a good first step. I said to him, "Captain. Nice work. We're getting there. Next, we must try to increase the amount of fire that you produce. Use Ember like you were before. But don't let it out at the first instant, let it build up for an instant before you release it. Its like Ancient Power. You have to give it a second to build up before you let loose with a beam of fire like Charmeleon showed us." Captain nodded and began to gurgle fire.

As for Nero, I was not pleased. He had made a good attempt, but his insanity had to give way sometimes to seriousness. As such, I told him of my displeasure. "Nero, you did well before you started having too much fun. Once you learn this, we can have some fun, but until then, you have to learn this. Keep your concentration up and form the orb. Then, move it around towards the ground. Once you've moved it around for a few seconds, THEN you can make it explode. Ok?" Nero glared at me for ending his fun, but he nodded. He began again to try to make an orb of ghostly energy.

Finally, I addressed Heracross. He looked quite capable of what he had been doing and he made a great effort. All he needed now was to find that energy inside of him and let it out. If he did that, he would be able to master this easily. So I began to instruct him as well. "Heracross, you're doing great. But we need to make sure that you can find the energy to use in this attack, Megahorn. So, I want you to dig deep inside yourself and forget the horn. Just find the well of energy that you had and find a way to make that energy more accessible. Ok?" Heracross nodded, closed his eyes, and began to search.

I sat back and watched, waiting to see the results.

Phasing Flashback Defender Vigilance

Caligula, a little indignant at having to be told what to do, returned to his meditation. He began breathing deeply, once again confronted by anger and agitation. Once again, his immediate reaction was to fight against it, to control it. Try as he might, this tactic ended with similar results as before. But, then, he remembered your words. Ever so slowly, he gave way a little more, until the emotion was allowed to sweep over him. He may have been angry and agitated. He may have to follow orders from a human. He may have had a million things to be angry, sad, or even happy about, but that was okay. It was all okay.

Coming to terms with all that emotion was like releasing a valve. Suddenly, all the pressure was gone and everything felt calm. In that calmness two things became extremely clear to Caligula, the first being that he was, indeed, the ultimate Pokemon; well, in his eyes, anyway. The second thing that he realized while lost in this state of mind that few Pokemon ever get to experience, was that he could feel a power welling up inside of him. He became excited at the presence of this power. That excitement invaded the calm and quickly forced his mind out of that place. Shaking his head and opening his eyes, Caligula stared at the ground for a moment. He had done it. He had reached a state of mind where troublesome emotion was forgotten and all that was left was a calm, inner power. But, he had failed to sustain it. But, he had felt that power and was sure that he would be able to call upon it if he tried again.

Caracalla was lost in a similar concentration. You could almost see its physical strain as it tried to conjure up the dark energy that was flowing through its veins. The Sneasel closed its eyes tight and clenched its jaw with effort. Seconds went by with little progress to show for it. Those seconds soon dragged on into minutes; And, still, nothing happened. Caracalla's face twisted into a frown as it tried harder. Try as it might, though, the determined Pokemon didn't seem to be making any progress. Then....

...Something. It was barely noticeable, being little more than a flicker. But... There it was again! Almost all at once, a thin shadow swept over Caracalla's body. Then, it disappeared. It returned once again, darker this time. Its body continued to pulsate like this for several seconds, until the shadow no longer disappeared. Instead, it began to almost take on a physical form of its own as it engulfed the Sneasel. It grew darker and thicker. Iit began to bend the very light around it, making it so that your eyes were unable to truly focus on any one part of the veiled Sneasel.

Had you the ability to see through the darkness that enshrouded Caracalla, you would have known that the expression on its face was something akin to happiness. Not only was it now surrounded by its own element, it was quite happy to find that it could wield such power. It still needed something to wield that power on, however. You hadn't specified a target, so the Sneasel decided to pick its own. It chose a stray Meowth that had happened to walk by at that moment. The poor cat never saw what was coming and yelped in pain as the speedy Caracalla raked his energy-imbued claws across its back. Caracalla watched the unfortunate thing flee into the distance, with the distinct expression of satisfaction clear on his face.

Captain was also improving. Ever the loyal Pokemon, the Charmeleon had listened very carefully to your words. It recalled how it wielded Ancient Power and how it had seen the other Charmeleon use Flamethrower. It took in several deep breaths, holding the last one. It sent this pocket of air further and further into its hot body, just as if it were doing an Ember attack. There, deep within the reaches of its fire-producing organs, it held it. Through the amazing biological mechanisms unique to nature, this air heated and broiled as it was being inundated with impossible amounts of energy. It expanded, putting more and more pressure on its lizardy confines, until, finally, it had to get out.

Your Charmeleon opened its mouth, unable to hold back the pressure that had been building inside of it. What came out was not just an attack, but an eruption, a torrent of fire and embers that instantly blackened the ground in front of him. The stream of fire rolled along the ground, before dissipating a short distance away. It left a clear trail on the sidewalk in front of the bookstore. Luckily, it stopped just short of incinerating the wall of the building. The stream of fire held for only a moment, before spreading and veering wildly. It looked as if the flames were a bit more difficult to control, or at least were controlled in a different manner, than the energy beam of Ancient Power. Once the flurry of fire faded, what was left was panting Captain. That try had taken a lot out of him and he would have been sweating too, had he the excretory structures needed to do so. He almost had the attack that time, and, after a moments rest, was ready to try again.

Nero, on the other hand, was not so diligent. It stuck its tongue out at you as you were turning your attention to the Heracross. Despite this obnoxious show of mischief, he did turn back to practicing his own attack. He grunted and his ghostly brow furrowed in concentration. Shapeless ghost energy began to accumulate in front of him. The spiritual power began to swirl and tumble as the Gastly used its mental abilities to mold it into a visible ball. It pressured one side of the ball, and shouted gleefully when it found that this made the thing move slowly forward. It glanced over at Heracross who was only a short distance away. It also saw that you were preoccupied with Captain's attempt at Flamethrower.

The large bug was quietly meditating, trying to search deep inside of itself for the wellspring of insectoid energy. Deeper and deeper it looked, into the very core of its being. It could build energy without doing this, for sure. But, it would need to be able to accumulate and control a much larger amount of energy if it wanted to used the powerful Megahorn. So, it shut its eyes and continued focusing on this energy, allowing it to fluctuate and bend to its will.

It was this extreme focus let Nero's actions go unnoticed by the Heracross. Nero, with a mischievous grin, pushed a wobbly ball of ghost energy towards the larger Pokemon. It lost some of its shape as it moved, become more of a blob, rather than a ball. But, it did hold long enough to be left behind the unsuspecting Heracross. The ghost backed away slowly, still holding together what was left of the ball. Then, he let go and the ball collapsed in on itself before exploding outward. Of course, Heracross felt this, and, of course, it jumped in surprise. It was left unscathed, since the ball had lost much of its power during transit. Though, it was rather annoyed that Nero had broken its concentration, and it shook its fist angrily at the ghost. Nero just laughed in return from a safe distance away.

The slightly agitated bug turned back to its meditation with one eye on the naughty ghost. No small distraction like that was going to keep it from unleashing its true power. Plus, it may have just found the first thing to test it on. It smiled as it felt larger amounts of power build within it...

There was a flutter at your feet that caught your attention. Looking down, you saw a piece of paper that was caught underneath your foot. It would wave occasionally, every time the wind increased. You bent down and picked it up. It was a flier, an advertisement for the Tournament of Aegis. You could clearly read it, despite your shoe print that covered the corner of the page.

The 100th Annual Tournament of Aegis

On June 1st, 2009, Alternia will be holding its 100th annual Tournament of Aegis. The Tournament allows people to enter up to three Pokemon. Matches are organized randomly, and entrants will be allowed to use each of their three Pokemon in the fights. However, it is only one-on-one combat. Two or more Pokemon on the field results in immediate disqualification. The Tournament is divided into multiple tiers based on skill level. There are 24 possible tiers, but this year, estimated funds will only be enough to support five of them. We will be fielding trainers from Tiers 1-4. Tier 5 will host all trainers more skilled than those in Tier 4. If no one enters your tier, you will be put into a lower tier with a handicap. The Tournament charges a fee of $100 that pays for mass transit to the facilities from all three major cities, the facilities themselves, and the prizes. This year's prizes will be the following:

  • 1st Place: Trophy, $2000, and a Tier X 1st Place Badge
  • 2nd Place: Trophy, 2 Ultra Balls, a Great Ball, and a Tier X 2nd Place Badge
  • 3rd Place: Medal, One Great Ball, One Specialty Ball, and a Tier X 3rd Place Badge
  • 4th Place: Tier X 4th Place Badge
  • 5th Place: Tier X 5th Place Badge

The Tournament will be held at the foot of the Joukai Tower. Legend says that this Tournament gives the legendary Pokemon of Emotion, Mesprit, Knowledge, Uxie, and Willpower, Azelf, the power to keep Alternia safe. This tournament will also keep the Joukai Tower a place of peace and calm. The excitement, strategy, and desire of the trainers and their Pokemon makes the source of the three fairies' power regain its strength. Thus, this is the Tournament of Aegis, the tournament that keeps Alternia safe. Legend also states that this tournament revives the power of other artifacts of power that keep the power of legendary Pokemon at their peak.

Do you have what it takes to be in the legendary Tournament of Aegis? Registration tables open on May 31st at the Joukai Tower Arena. Be there!

Things went well for the team, and it appeared that Caracalla succeeded in his task. Unfortunately, the punk decided to attack a Meowth which could easily have been a trainers, wrapping me up in a fight that I didn't want. Caracalla would enjoy it, but I had better things to do. Sighing, I motioned him over next to me and he crouched down. His body was still tense, but he waited for me, hoping that I would let him use his new technique. I didn't.

Caligula seemed to be getting closer, and I merely suggested that he try once more. Instructing him more would be quite pointless. Thus, I ignored him and moved on. He would be able to figure things out himself.

My loyal Charmander, or rather Charmeleon, kept trying, and I was quite proud of that. However, I needed to give him a new set of directions to make Flamethrower perfect. Thinking quickly, I decided to try something different than what I might think is possible. I said, "Captain, I want you to try again, but this time, be the flame. Follow its path and work with it. Its a part of you, control it and make it work." He nodded and built up fire like before.

Nero was just being ridiculous, and I began to tell him to just stop trying. Then, I saw the smile on Heracross. I nodded and began a new tactic with Nero. I told him to close his eyes and just concentrate on the ball. The ball and nothing else. "Play with it, shape it, control the energy. Do not open your eyes because there only is the ball of energy." Nero cocked his body to the side, looking at me quizzically and just closed his eyes and went to work.

Heracross looked ready to try again and I left him to his devices like Caligula. He just needed to find that energy and release it through his horn. As I sat back, I noticed a flier for a tournament beginning today. I skimmed through options on my Poketech and accepted the offer to join it in the highest tier. Heracross, Aurelius, and Captain would be fighting. This would be fun.

As I accepted it, I called Caligula over and told him to teleport us to the Joukai Pass, where we had first arrived. He did so without pause, wanting to return to his meditation. We arrived there, and I returned me Pokemon to the their Pokeballs. I registered for the tournament and began to prepare mentally for it.

I did not win that goddamned tournament. Something hit my head and I was forced to retire because I fell unconscious. *Censored from record* that. Anyways, in order to make myself more able to fight when I robbed houses, I needed to continue making my Pokemon stronger. In order to that I would need to return to teaching them moves beyond their natural capabilities.

Releasing my Pokemon from their Pokeballs, I began to talk to those who had not yet learned a new move. To Captain, I said, "Alright Captain, remember how we were learning that move earlier?" In response, Captain nodded and began to try again. I had to stop him before the same disaster happened again. "Captain, Captain wait. I want you to try to imagine your mouth as a tube. Force the fire out in a direct stream, not just an explosion. Try that now." Captain was building up the fire again, so he nodded and began to try that.

To Caligula, I said, "You're smart Caligula. You know how to do it now. Go for it." Caligula glared at me and did what he wanted, which just so happened to coincide with what I wanted. That was good enough for me. To Nero, I said, "Nero, quit goofing around. Do it again. If you don't do it right this time, I might just not let you out for a few days. Sounds fun right?" Nero's face was absolutely priceless. He tried again with a serious intention in mind.

To that Heracross that I still didn't want but was powerful in its own right, I simply said, "Heracross, try once again. You can try on Nero if you'd like. I see you don't appreciate his tomfoolery. Nor do I. I think you're close enough that you need a goal and you'll be all set.

With all that done I sat next to Caracalla and just watched the chaos ensue. Well, hopefully it wouldn't be chaos but it would be success. Unfortunately I knew enough to expect a little bit of insanity before I got true success. Caracalla had a triumphant look on his face, seemingly pleased that he was the first to learn a new move.

Derping... All Day, Every Day!

We have a small roster of tutoring lessons today! Maybe I should put on a graduate gown and a pointer and see what I can do as Mr.Kazuki! Oh well, I failed. Don't tell me, Falcon. Let's start off with what seemed to be the order you have it. First up, Captain--the Charmleon; Caligula--the Abra; Heracross; and Nero--the Gastly.

Your Charmleon looked quite strong, and already evolved. First I've seen thus far. Either way, it seemed to have the knowledge of the move, but needed to focus more. It started to use the move like it used too, but you put a quick halt to that. Telling it to use it's mouth as a tube was a bit weird, or so a pokemon would think. Trying to imagine, Captain attempted it. A flame burst from his mouth, spraying everywhere. He had the majority of the move down but needed a little tuning on his control. Just a little.

Flamethrower Learning Curve --- 95%

For the next two pokemon--your Abra and Gastly--you basically told them to do their previous training over. It was both of them that had their moves so close to mastery prior to this moment. It would be easy, especially for Gastly, to quick master their moves. Performing their deeds, Abra calmed his mind completely, and with ease, but just pushed himself to finish it. Nero, summoned the ball of ghost energy into a sphere and shot it forward. It was the form of a mastered Shadow Ball!

Shadow Ball Learning Curve -- 100%

Heracross, on the other hand, was the slower of the four present. He had some trouble gathering all the energy, or maintaining it, or both, or whatever the cause. He tried focusing once more, with all his focus he was able to start produces a white horn. Before, it was a feeble little glow, but now with some more power pushed into it, the horn was packing a punch. Hitting Nero would be good, but as it tried, the playful pokemon moved, making Heracross eventually trip and fall (don't laugh!!)!!!! More power; new target!

Megahorn Learning Curve -- 80%
