Fishing Limitations The Peruvian government has announced that they plan on limiting the amount of fishing that goes on in Peru by 2/3rds to 6,000,000 tons of fish per year. Meanwhile, the government is announcing a plan that will gather large amounts of live fish, and put them into areas especificaly made to breed enormous amounts of fish. The government expects to breed enormous amounts of fish over three years, then return them to the water. Meanwhile, the government will slowly start to build areas for aquaculture over 6 years, so that when the mass breeding is over, some of the fish will be sent there, with the great majority returning to the ocean, in which half the fish that are bred will be sent to the ocean, while the other half will be sold. The Peruvian government hopes that by limiting the amount of fish that are fished per year, breeding fish, and making aquaculture farms, that the government can quickly restore the fish populations to before the 1980s, and to make fishing tourism popular in Peru. The government will raise the level of fish fishable per year every year after the three years are up to return to the original estimated fishing levels of 2012(About 10.5m fish?), while maintaining the fish populations at the 1980s level, so as to allow more fishing benefits over the long run without harming Peru's tourism industry for fishing. |

R&D Budget Slashed! In a suprise move, President Alan Garcia has announced he will cut the R&D budget entirely. When asked by the media as to why, he responded, "What technology does Peru have to even research OR develop?", Which was met by many laughs that it was about time the Peruvian president did this, and that he was being painfully honest. Peru did not have any technology to invest in. "However, that does not mean I do not plan to cut the budget forever. These projects which I plan to enact will cost money, which is why I have cut the budget. However, I plan to run for a third term, and plan to reinstate the budget after these projects are complete." |
