The Canadian and Prairie Governments, along with AECL, SNC-Lavalin and the oilsands companies have embarked on a new project to provide clean energy to the oilsands.

The plan involves a major pipeline to the Arctic Ocean, and a six-reactor nuclear power station in Fort McMurray, Alberta, which has the job of providing electrical power to the oilsands project. Part of this includes a permanent road to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to help the project's building.

Also included is eleven other nuclear reactors - 4 others in Alberta, 3 in British Columbia, and two each in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with the plan to have them and hydroelectric dams eliminate the usage of fossil fuel plants for electricity by 2030.

The pipeline is expected to be complete by 2012, the nuclear reactors all by 2020.
