Prime Minister Harper has tabled the Armed Forces Rebuilding and Regeneration Plan, which proposes $490 Billion CAD (about $440 Billion USD) in the years between 2009-2029 to rebuild and re-equip the Canadian Forces, as well as attract new members of the forces, with an emphasis on skilled personnel such as doctors and engineering personnel. Also, the Air Command has expressed great interest in the proposed CF-24 Carver fighter project. General Angus Watt, the head of the Air Command, has publicly said that he hopes to see the CF-24 built and enter CF service, saying that the fighter is "Canada's first serious attempt at a homegrown modern fighter since the Avro Arrow." The Air Command has also requested four new CC-177A Gloebmasters to complement the four already in service with the CF. OOC: The funding boost has been announced in real life. Canada is showing the design of the new Province-class destroyer, which will replace the Iroquois-class destroyers currently in use with the Maritime Command. The destroyer is a very large vessel with a displacement of 9200 tons and being 25 metres longer than the Iroquois ships. The vessel is equipped with the awesome Thales APAR radar system, and several Canadian contractors are seeking to fuse the radar, sonar and fire control systems with a Canadian-designed command and control system, similar to the American AEGIS combat system. |

Canada has made plans to acquire its first attack helicopters, with the goal of these being deployed to Afghanistan. Also on the table is a deployment of close-air support aircraft to the area, in order to assist NATO ground forces in operations against the Taliban. |
