President Sarkozy hacked!

President Sarkozy has been hacked, apparently. The culprits are being searched for at this very moment, but for now all we know is that the president has just lost 3.2m in savings, but his wife's account was untouched. "I just have to say this. Whoever did this shall face some very big trouble, this, I swear!", was what Mr. Sarkozy yelled as he headed onto his flight for Japan.

PEOPLE TO VOTE ON POSSIBILITY OF EXPANDING IN MORE NUCLEAR POWER

Due to the recent rises of oil prices, the French government is considering expanding into more nuclear power. However, France realises that this decision should be taken by all French citizens and will hold an open vote in a week to influence the president's decision.

The French government has announced that they plan to increase the amount of nuclear power they use, by building more nuclear plants and to more extensively work on hydroelectricity and solar energy. "Oil independence is important to the future of France, and I say the sooner, the better."

-Power plant construction underway

Currently, construction has started on 1 new nuclear power plant, however, most still require planning, and President Nicholas Sarkozy has stated, "It will be a proud moment in French history once France is independent from foreign oil, and all oils, regardless. We must take steps to achieve these measures, and ridding ourselves of dependence on foreign oil is step 1 in this quest."

OOC: France is also either second or third (After USA, and Japan if 3rd) highest user of Nuclear power for electricity, so nuclear power isnt exactly a rare thing in France.

OOC:

In 2006 the net production of electricity in France amounted to 548.8 TWh, of which:

  • 428.7 TWh (78.1%) were produced by nuclear power generation
  • 60.9 TWh (11.1%) were produced by hydroelectric power generation
  • 52.4 TWh (9.5%) were produced by fossil fuel power generation

    • 21.6 TWh (3.9%) by coal power
    • 20.9 TWh (3.8%) by natural gas power
    • 9.9 TWh (1.8%) by other fossil fuel generation (fuel oil and gases by-products of industry such as blast furnace gases)
  • 6.9 TWh (1.3%) were produced by other types of power generation (essentially waste-to-energy and wind turbines)

So basically, get rid of that 10% fossil fuels.
