Alright Rill, this is the OOC! Shall we discuss how we are going to start this role play up? I have all my posts which I took from the last forum and if we do a little editing we can slide them in, that goes for your posts as well if you like! =)

For everyone else, this is a role play set in the Warhammer 40K Universe. It revolves about a planet that has been invaded by the Emperor's Children Chaos Space Marines and a Chapter of Astartes, as well as Imperial Guard, are sent to liberate the world. If you would like to join you're welcome, just tell me what side you want to join!

Yeah that's not a bad idea, although I'll probably land my squad a little closer too the action this time;

What about the sides? On the last forum it was just the three races, should we let players controll and bring in others from the 40k universe if they want, or keep it restricted to the Chaos & Space Marines and the Guard?

May make it a little more interesting if other forces are drawn by the fighting...

ALso, what do you think about skipping the Space battle this time? I mean it was a little lame and the other guy didn't have a clue what he was doing on the last thread, lol, so we could get straight into our ships arriving and dropping down too the planet;
Get us all up close and personal with the enemy much sooner :D

Should be good anyway, especialy if a few more people join, but even if it's just us it will still work well;
Our characters never got too interact in the last thread, looking forward too it this time round!

Well Kode, if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them.

Rill, great ideas, I agree completely! A bit of good news though, Sky-Flying Falcon contacted me via PM on the other forums and said he wants to join us here as well!

So we will more or less be following up on the same story. When I post the IC I will probably put a short summary of the space battle so we can skip that and get straight into the personal stuff!

As for other races, hm, I think it is cliché to do a DoW or GW scenario and pile all the races in at once. Also we have a limited number of players here so it is probably best if we keep it the Imperial Guard, Astartes and Chaos Space Marines (along with all their lackeys and daemons).

Do the imperials have need of battlefield tinkerers?

You mean technicians, engineers and the like?

If so I think you'll like what I have in store! =P

Yeah, pretty much, the sort of person who can turn a toaster into a miniature tank almost. Are there robots in 40k?

There are robots, but not as you would think them to be.

The Legio Cybernetica is the robotics branch of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Imperial Robots carry a system called a cortex which is an artificial computer/brain holding the program of the Robot. Programs are very basic and consist of instructions such as 'move here', 'find target', and 'fire'.

The Legio Cybernetica is organised into thousands of cohorts, which are groups of maniples (squads). A maniple is from three to five robots with a Legio tech-adept.

The Legio Cybernetica has produced many Robot designs over the centuries. Some were failures, such as the disastrous Castigator (a Robot so heavily armoured that it was slower than the troops it was designed to protect and support). Others proved more successful, and there are five types that have played a role in the Imperium's long history. Each type has a different role: Crusader (light, agile, anti-personnel), Colossus (siege), Cataphract (multi-purpose), Castellan (siege and anti-tank), Conquerer (assault and anti-tank).

However I think the role that you're looking for is as a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

The Adeptus Mechanicus is a technological organization, often known as the Priesthood of Mars. It holds a monopoly on technological knowledge in the Imperium. Their forge worlds turn out the Imperium's most powerful and advanced weaponry and equipment. The organization's adepts, the Tech-priests, are vital in maintaining much of the Imperium's more technologically advanced equipment, not the least of which is the Emperor's life-sustaining Golden Throne.

Adepts of the Adeptus Mechanicus are known as tech-priests. Any member of the Cult Mechanicus over the rank of menial will often be referred to as a tech-priest, though Magi and higher ranks are usually referred to by rank.

The Adeptus Mechanicus follows a different religion from the rest of the Imperium. The religion and religious structure of the Adeptus Mechanicus is known as the Cult Mechanicus.

The symbol of the Adeptus Mechanicus is a skull, half-bone and half-machine, set against the background of a black and white cog.

As befits the religious nature of the Mechanicus, techpriests usually wear robes, which are usually either rust-red or white. Techpriests are often cybernetically augmented. The level of a techpriest's augmentation is highly dependent on his rank within the Cult Mechanicus; a novice may have only one or two augmented systems, if any, while very senior members may have only a few biological organs left in their bodies.

For you I suggest one of two roles, either a Tech-Priest, or a Techmarine.

A Tech-priest is an adept of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They are the members of the Cult Mechanicus, a priesthood which forms a hierarchy of technicians, scientists and religious leaders. The tech-priests provide the rest of the Imperium with its technicians and engineers.

Though their bodies often incorporate many mechanical components, tech-priests are human, unlike the slave-machine Servitors which carry out all the heavy and monotonous labor for them.

Your exact rank would be Enginseer.

Enginseers are engineer-mystics, possessing an unsurpassed knowledge of mechanical technology. They are invaluable for their ability to maintain Imperial technology and can be found serving in almost every Imperial organization.

However, if you want to be able to be an engineer and kick arse I suggest a Techmarine character.

Techmarines (Frater Astrotechnicus) are Space Marine mechanical technicians as well as being battle-brothers. They are members of both the Cult Mechanicus and their chapter. They serve a similar role in their Chapter as an Techpriest Enginseer in the Imperial Guard.

Prospective Techmarines are chosen from those within the Space Marine Chapter who show an affinity for machines. They are sent to Mars for thirty years of training and taught the machine lore. They learn how to divine the Runes of Engineering and study the Liturgy of Maintenance. This great body of lore must be committed to memory and understood by the novice Techmarine. They are taught how to "feel" the pain of a damaged machine and heal it.

A great deal of the thirty years of instruction involves learning each of the many and intricate maintenance rituals by heart. The rituals furthermore have variations to cover every conceivable circumstance in battle. After completing the training, the Techmarine is ordained, and returns to his chapter.

Techmarines are fully members of the chapter, and although not directly connected to the Adeptus Mechanicus, they are still considered members of the Cult Mechanicus. Their armour is modified to accommodate their cybernetic enhancements and their backpacks are upgraded with several servo-arms. Their armour is painted the rust red of the Adeptus Mechanicus, but their Chapter badge is retained and displayed on one of the shoulder guards, so as not to disrespect the armour's spirit. Techmarines are able to wear full servo-harnesses, huge harnesses armed with servo-arms, plasma cutters, and flamers. Techmarines can also be accompanied by a retinue of servitors; gun servitors, combat servitors, and tech servitors. They bear a power axe with the Adeptus Mechanicus symbol on the head, as both a symbol of rank and as a weapon.

The highest position among the Techmarines is held by the Master of the Forge.

Naturally if you choose a Tech-Priest you will aid the Imperial Guard (human soldiers) but if you choose Techmarine you will be a Battle-Brother of the Space Marines (Genetically enhanced super humans).

The choice is yours. Sorry for the huge amount of information, that is the Warhammer 40K lore for you! xD

When and if you choose one I will provide you with the more specific information!

You paint that Tech-Marine yourself..? ;) :p

That's cool Falcon wants too join us again, mabey I'll also PM that other guy who posted on the old OOC and expressed an interest in a 40k RP;

Never actully played Dawn Of War...lol, think it was released after I stopped playing the table top game, so never heard about it, ah well ;-p

Oh and Kode, it's not quite as difficult as it sounds, don't panic, most of it's based on films like 'Aliens' anyway :p
