Zadok stands several of the dummies upright, in a group of six, spaced evenly apart.
"These dummies contain ashes of elders, they protect we from the storm." Zadok says reverentially, as he arranges them in a star shape. "They where the first ones to come to the place above, around and beyond home."
"This one wonders if that one has any elder watchers?" He says, turning to face the girl, who seems to have shrunk inside the huge woolen blanket, watching her eyes to see how she will react.

"I'm not sure if I do Zadok..." She gazes long and intensely at the dummies in their formation. "I almost wish I did." Turning her gaze back to him she sighs a little under her breath. "You seem very proud of your heritage Zadok. If they were like you then I can see why you would be. I don't know much about your kind except the stories that come back to us at our estate. They focus so much on the differences and, given your extreme consideration for me, I'm inclined to think they're all mistaken in their opinions. It often seems that difference, to humankind, is an automatic sign of inferiority. This is when Gerld would be giving me a look signaling my weirdness. I think the world would be very boring without difference. After all, humans certainly can't have all the answers, as imperfect as I'm beginning to realise that we are." Shutting her mouth she runs a hand over her temples, regretting saying so much.
