This is the team I've been using under my G account on shoddy battle. My opinion is, that in Platinum, there is no time for countering threats, you need to actually be the threat. So that's the mindset I'm using when creating my teams, and in battles. This team has 5 choice items - I've given up on setting up since Scizor got Bullet Punch, and if you hit, you might as well hit hard. The team has been working okay, but I know it can be improved, so that's where you guys come in. TEAM BANANAS: Tyranitar (F) @ Life Orb Ability: Sand Stream EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Crunch - Earthquake - Stealth Rock Many people have been telling me, that you can't successfully lead with Tyranitar in this metagame. While this lead isn't winning any awards, it certainly has been doing what I wanted it to do. It's the only pokemon that can start Sandstorm, set up Stealth Rock and sweep afterwards. I will outline what does it do against specific leads: Azelf - Crunch, always. Heatran - DD first turn, then Earthquake [OHKOs even through Shuca]. Bronzong - Crunch should 2HKO, otherwise I just sacrifice it to set up SR. Swampert - Crunch first turn, then SR. Hippowdon - SR and switch out. Jirachi - SR and switch out. Yeah, this lead isn't excellent or anything, but I really needed both sandstorm and SR on a pokemon that actually threatens things offensively. Gengar (F) @ Choice Specs Ability: Levitate EVs: 6 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Focus Blast - Trick - Thunderbolt - Shadow Ball This is here mainly for it's Ground and Fighting immunities. Shadow Ball is pretty much the only move I use, with the occasional Trick when I sense a Blissey coming. Other common Gengar switch-ins like Bronzong or Jirachi, are easily 2HKOed. Gengar is my main switch-in on leading Infernapes/Hippowdons. Since Tyranitar induces Earthquake and Close Combat, I get a free switch-in and a clean OHKO on Infernape/2HKO on Hippo. Infernape (F) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Blaze EVs: 32 HP/252 Atk/224 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Close Combat - U-turn - Flare Blitz - Stone Edge The only thing on this team that gets a clean OHKO on Blissey. I made it fully physical since splitting EVs means that I lose too much power. Early game I just abuse U-turn since it's such an awesome move. U-turning out of a Blissey and going to Jolteon as they go to Suicune gives me a massive advantage, but I'm sure you all know that. An important advantage that a pure physical Ape has over a mixed one is the ability to revenge CMers like Jirachi, with Flare Blitz. Stone Edge is almost useless though, I'd rather U-turn rather than Stone Edge in hopes of hitting a Gyara switch-ins...So if anyone has suggestions for the fourth move, I'll gladly test it. Jolteon (F) @ Choice Specs Ability: Volt Absorb EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Thunderbolt - Hidden Power [Grass] - Baton Pass - Signal Beam Getting your sweepers Thunder Waved sucks. That's why I have Jolteon. This is the pokemon that sweeps the most, since most cookie-cutter teams struggle to take a strong [both Salamence and Scizor are OHKOed after SR] Thunderbolt, which is the move I generally use. Baton Pass is, however, also very useful - since I can BP out of Skarm and go to Infernape as my opponent goes to Blissey, then U-turn as he goes to Skarm again...yeah. It creates awesome mindgames, and might even make him leave Skarm in as I Thunderbolt, lol. This is also my switch-in to Gyarados if I expect him to DD. Jolly Gyara, which is getting more popular, ruins me though :/ Metagross @ Choice Band Ability: Clear Body EVs: 62 HP/252 Atk/196 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Zen Headbutt - Explosion - Bullet Punch Even offensive teams need a steel type. Zen Headbutt is the move I will generally use, since it hits most of the commmon Metagross switch-ins hard, and is the only thing that prevents Rotom from completely walling it. When I'm facing a stall team, I just boom, hopefully taking their hippo or whatever, out. Latios (M) @ Choice Specs Ability: Levitate EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Surf - Dragon Pulse - Draco Meteor - Thunderbolt The big bad UBER. Yeah, if I get the necessary rating, that's what I will vote. Dragon Pulse rips through things and I almost never use anything else. Of course the abundance of steel types and Tyranitars prevents this from being as effective as it should, but it's still good enough. This also gives me some important resistances like Electric, Water and Fighting...all in one. so yeah, rmt :O |

Thats a really nice team G, it seems pretty solid. However, how do you deal with scizor? you seem to be pretty weak to it apart from Meta / Jolty |

Hmm... Probably a Dragon Pulse. But,I think it will DD and then sweep... Until Gengar comes. And it will trick Salamence. Well now *Sets up shield* your team sucks; Just joking it´s kinda good and I´m a n00b,so don´t listen to me. |

Yeah this team is weak to SD Scizor especially if it runs Quick Attack [since then it can OHKO both Ape and Jolteon]; most of the time I boom with Metagross but it's not really reliable =/ DD Mence kills this team as well, once again I have to sacrifice whatever is out and then boom with Metagross. thanks for everyone who posted. |

Maybe instead of Sacking something, maybe put HP Ice over T-Bolt? Just to stop those naughty Mences, |

This is a very offensive team... I've never played so offensive. Anyway, since 3\6 of your team are special attackers, I see that you could have some problems with bliss, so I would make your TTar a choice bander giving it purusit (to switch into thunder wawe and pursuit bliss on the switch out, doing up to 79% to the standard calm 252 def bliss), not to mention that you could use it to revenge opposing latios too. Also, tyranitar lead is not a good idea in my opinion, because jirachi\metagross\infernape are very common leads nowadays. I would lead with metagross instead. You could use the standard: metagross@occa berry Ev:252hp\252atk\4spd -stealth rock -explosion -eartquake\meteor mash -bullett punch I'm using it on my suspect team with some success. Good luck with your team. Edited by Haunter, Mar 3 2009, 10:24 AM.
