Gyarados is HOT!

This team is based around Gyarados, a Pokemon who has always been, and probably always will be one of the best Pokemon in the game. No other Pokemon has been in the top 10, this long, especially since Salamence wasn't round in R/B/G. Anyway, this is for the Suspect ladder. I really want a vote in making Latios Uber.

I don't want to post this at Smogon because then EVERYBODY will know my team, and I probably won't get very good advice either. I may add pictures later.

Yanmega (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 104 Def/152 Spd/252 SAtk
Rash nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Reversal
- Hidden Power [Ground]
---

This is the most expendable member of my team. I just needed a lead, and figured "why not Yanmega?" Usually does pretty well. Reversal is for Blissey, however it hasn't actually worked the way it is supposed to. EVs mean Metagross' Meteor Mash is a 2HKO, and Scizor's Bullet Punch is a 3HKO. HP Ground is for Heatran and Magnezone.

Yanmega really screws over Rain Teams, and most offensive teams too. If the foe doesn't get a chance to set up Stealth Rock, then even late game I can really bring on the hurt. Like I said, I wouldn't mind replacing this guy.

Heatran (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Explosion
- Earth Power
- Lava Plume
- Hidden Power [Grass]
---

This is my Baitran. Shuca Berry lets me bluff Choice Scarf, and I prefer Lava Plume for the burn rate. It has really saved my ass many times. HP Grass screws with Swampert, and Explosion is for Blissey.

Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Trick
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Draco Meteor
---

Aah, Latios. The Suspect. I believe this Pokemon to be Uber. I mean really, Draco Meteor is insanely powerful, even without Choice Specs. This lets me bluff it, since anything hit by it is pretty much dead anyway. A great revenge killer for other Latios, Dragons, and most of the metagame. Trick is important for Blissey and other annoying walls.

Latios provides me with numerous valuable resistances, to Ground, Fire, and Electric mostly. A near perfect Infernape counter too.

Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP/216 Def/52 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Surf
- Stealth Rock
---

MixPert is usually a reliable Pokemon. It's main job is to set up Stealth Rock, and provide me with a back-up Heatran counter, if Heatran dies. I like this combinations of moves because of the coverage. Surf hits stuff like Hippowdon, harder than Waterfall would. Ice Beam is mainly for Salamence, and Earthquake is for the rest. Swampert is also here for a reliable Rock resist.

Abomasnow (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP/4 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Energy Ball / Focus Punch
- Blizzard
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
---

Hell yeah, it's Abomasnow! This is what sets my team far apart from all the other standard teams out there. Obama pairs well with Gyarados, covering its weakness to Electric, while Gyarados covers its, bar Rock. Both of them are weak to it, which is why Swampert becomes so important. Thankfully, the only common rock-user in OU is Tyranitar, and he is hit hard enough by Waterfall.

I prefer these EVs and such to take Special hits extraordinarily well. This is my first switch into Suicune, Vaporeon, and Celebi, all the Pokemon who tend to wall Gyarados. I can set up with ease on them, as they struggle to break my substitutes. I may switch to Focus Punch for the ability to his things like Scizor and Tyranitar somewhat, hard. Abomasnow, along with Yanmega, helps me beat Rain Dance teams, which seem to be forgotten as a threat, despite being quite common.

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Waterfall
- Bounce
---

The finisher. My late game sweeper, who is simply devastating. I prefer Leftovers to Life Orb to recover Hail damage, and Stealth Rock damage which can add up pretty quickly. It also helps me take Bullet Punches and Extreme Speeds too.

One unique thing you may notice is Bounce. For some reason it is still not a standard on all Gyarados. People say the foe can just switch. Okay, so they switch in their Tyranitar to take the Bounce, oh wait, it died to Waterfall. Many teams don't have a way to deal with this, because they have Celebi as their only true counter. I still need Stone Edge for Zapdos, and to a lesser extent, Salamence.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, so that's my suspect team. Rate, comment, yeah. Target. Most of all, help me get to a ranking that'll let me vote in suspect test!

Thanks!

Seems a good team. I would just be curious to see how that yanmega works. I've never used scarf latios, but I suppose that if you revenge something with dragon pulse\draco meteor, then you're going to be revenge killed as well by things like scizor\metagross\tyranitar. Also, what's your switch into opposing latios? Maybe adding a bulky steel would be a good idea.
Besides that, your team seems a litte SD lucario weak, your only safe switch is gyarados who can switch in only once because of its stealth rock weakness.
Good luck with your team (not if you face me, of course ;) ).

How's this:

On your Gyarados bounce isn't the best option, instead of bounce replace it with EQ, you'll have better type coverage.

And on Yanmega give it a modest nature over Rash, unless there is a reason for it.

Shove those Defense EVs over to Attack on Yanmega to "make it work" a bit. You have a Focus Sash, so I expect it to be dying, not surviving.

Well, I think your Heatran works really well, but I want to see if this set might catch your eye too (I use it). Your set is fine, though.

Heatran (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 244 HP/8 Atk/204 Spd/46 SAtk/8 SDef
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Toxic
- Substitute

Hahahaha, my EVs rock! Well, they just make nice numbers. You can probably modify it and add in more power to Earth Power if you want and remove Toxic for Hidden Power Grass. Yeah, I'm basically recommending you actually take the Fire STAB off of Heatran. Don't people want to switch into a Fire resist? Yeah, Dragons, Waters, Fires, sure they're everywhere, why not? That's why I believe Toxic is extremely important on a Baitran. Also, I don't think your Heatran can OHKO Blissey without a Life Orb (maybe I'm wrong, but it ensures an OHKO!). And yeah, I use Hasty because you dual resist Scizor's STABs anyways (but you can switch it over to Naive to take Outrages better I guess). Go ahead and rip up the set if you want to.

Strange that you place Abomasnow in a "non-hail team" since no one else is immune to hail. I guess it's fine however.

I'm a bit confused with Bounce (although I know it's decent). Okay, let's say you Dragon Dance and the opponent switches to Celebi. Celebi, even when hit by a super effective Bounce, will still live. Gyarados will attack first (even without that Dragon Dance, unless it's an offensive Celebi), so Bounce hits and Celebi lives. Now, Celebi can strike you right there with Leech Seed or Thunder Wave, screwing you over. But, if you're talking about the opponent switching to Celebi on a Bounce, then switching to Tyranitar to take it, then I guess that means you didn't get a Dragon Dance off. I don't know who would keep Tyranitar in, anyways, after that.

Nice team and hope it works out well!

Life Orb Gengar weak, your only option is to revenge kill it with Latios. You could scarf Heatran to help with it, but then Blissey could be a problem =/

Nice team though, that scarf Latios certainly throws people (me) off guard.
