Lol, the only time I ever played a percussion instruument was in sixth grade, that was when I forgot to bring my flute and then my band teacher made me play the base drum to keep the beat =D it was fun. I'm trying to learn recorder, but the one I have is really old, my parents bought it for me when I was 3 =/ I also tried out oboe before too. It sounds like a duck. What stinks is if you forget you instrument at my school, and if you played flute, because our school has no more spare flutes then you have to play piccolo for the day. I hate that thing, you can barely make a noise on it. >.< Edited by Angol Moa, Mar 27 2009, 02:54 PM.

*bass drum Haha, I can't stand most other instruments, but I wish I played trombone. Trombones look fun to play and the people who play trombone are cool. Oh well, percussion gets all the most fun parts (and all the REALLY boring ones). When I was in 3rd/4th/5th grade, my school made us learn recorder. I used to be a kickass recorder player. Rawr. I could play the star spangled banner. On recorder. I. Am. Teh. Uberpro. |

I'm just starting out on it, I can only play Mary had a Little Lamb =/ So yeah. Percussion does get a lot of fun parts (and solos too) compared to all the other instruments. And Trombone? My band only has 2 tromebones plays sadly...acutally, in the whole band, we only have 4 people who are acutally playing low instruments. >.< I could switch to playing basson or something, but I don't really want to. |

Low voices are the most important part of a band. Tuba is one of my favorite instruments becasue it gives so much more to a song. IMO, trombone, tuba, and euph/baritone are essential in a band. (bassoon not so much because it doesn't really resonate) btw resonate anagrams to earstone. and yes, earstone is a word. Don't ask why I know that. I'm definitely not 3-time state champion at scrabble. |

Pieces my school's SECOND band is playing (granted we are a high school) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSw_gaijSCg&feature=related Grade 5^^^ When I was in middle school, we played this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVHicjVOh3k&feature=related Sorry, it's the best recording I could find. But we played better than them. I think that's a grade 5, also. One more: When I was in middle school, I played the timp solo at the beginning of this. It. Was. Epic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8S6f5DY6rQ&feature=related |
