The current ranks in our guild are listed below in descending order. Aggro Magnets' ranks are divided into two categories: Members and Officers. The differences between a Member and an Officer are detailed later in this article. Aggro Magnets Guild Ranks: Commander in Chief General Colonel Major Captain Lieutenant Senior Member Member New Member InitiatePromotions are not given based on time with the guild. Guild Members are promoted based on their contributions to the guild. The definition of "contributions" varies between ranks. For example: Guild Officers are promoted based on the same contribution requirements as a Member, plus, the additional responsibilities of The Officer Corp. For Guild Members, some examples of contributions are: *Interacting in the in-game Guild Chat Channel *Offering to run lower level guild-mates (and alts) through dungeons, etc. *Donations to the Guild Bank (these do not have to be large or high-level donations) *Activity in the Guild Forums *Showing a general interest in the guild and its events We understand, especially for newer players, that they may not have the resources to donate large quantities or high level items to the guild bank, or do not have a character of a high enough level to run other guild mates through dungeons. We simply ask that new guild members contribute to the guild in any way that they can. There have been several "newer players" that have garnered promotions, simply by taking the time to interact with the other players in the guild. In short, a player does not have to contribute in every way listed above. They are welcome to mix and match their contributions, as they are able. Descriptions and expectations of Member-level ranks: Initiate:This is the first rank each new member is granted when they are invited into the guild. This rank is considered a probationary period. While in the Initiate rank, members do not have access to the Guild Bank, but can contribute in the Guild Chat Channel. Typically Initiates will remain in this rank until a senior officer has had the opportunity to interact with and observe the Initiate. If it is deemed that an Initiate is a potential good fit for our guild, they are promoted to New Member. New Member:The amount of time that a new guild member will spend in this rank can vary greater, but is typically one month. This rank is also a probationary period. By being promoted from Initiate to New Member, you have successfully passed the "first impressions" meeting with a ranking officer. Now is the time where we find out if your personality is a match for our guild. New Members do not have direct access to make withdrawals from the Guild Bank, but may speak to an officer to make reasonable requests for items from the Guild Bank. It is generally recommended, that when a New Member asks to take something out of the Guild Bank, they offer to trade something for this item. An example might be: If you want a stack of Runecloth, offer to replace it with a stack of Wool. Wool is a relatively low level item, but still has value in a guild environment. This shows that you are interested in the guild's over all health, and are making an attempt to not simply "leach" off of the guild (which has become all too common in WoW). Precisely how long a New Member will remain in this rank is determined by their level of contributions to the guild (as defined above). Member:The majority of our guild is comprised of Members. Based on contributions alone, this is the highest rank any non-officer can attain. Members have access to most parts of our Guild Bank. While there are limitations to how many items a Member can withdraw from our Guild Bank, Members are encouraged to contact an officer should they need additional items taken out for them. Senior Member:This is the only rank that is given based on time with the guild. Senior Members are distinguished Members that have typically been wiith our guild for more than six months. Senior Members are essentially Members that would have been considered for an officer commission, but either don't meet all of the requirements, or are not interested in committing to all of the responsibilities of an officer commission. In addition, some former officers who have decided to cede their commission (due to scheduling issues, personal responsibilities, etc.) may be given the distinguished rank of Senior Member. Senior Members are considered to be a very valuable part of our guild. Officers: Aggro Magnets requires that its officers contribute above-and-beyond that of a regular Member; therefore, not all guild members will be interested in, or qualify to, become an officer. Essentially, an officer is required to perform all of the contributions listed in the Member section above. In addition, officers are required to take on certain extra responsibilities, including participating in the Friday Run-Through Days. Other examples of these responsibilities include: Guild Raid Leader, Recruitment Officer, Guild Bank Officer, Issue and Dispute Resolution Officer, etc. For an up-to-date list of these responsibilities, please see The Officer Corp Thread. While there is no clear-cut definition of how an officer's responsibilities vary between the different officers ranks, promotions are given based on how well the officer has performed their duties, and the needs of the guild. Typically, we try not to have too many officers of any one particular rank. Please be aware that officers may unfortunately be stuck in a particular rank for an extended period of time, if the guild has too many officers in the next highest rank; however, this is something that we try to avoid. If you are interested in becoming an Aggro Magnet Officer, and would like tips on how to climb the ranking ladder, please refer to the Bars to Stars Thread located in the Ranks & Promotions Category. The Officer ranks are divided into three categories: Field Officers, Line Officers, and Flag Officers. Each of the three categories requires greater responsibilities on the part of the officer. Field Officer ranks: Lieutenant Captain MajorLine Officer Rank: ColonelFlag Officer Ranks: General Commander in ChiefPlease be aware that our guild is in a constant state of change as we grow and evolve. As such, you may occasionally notice that your rank has changed; it may appear that you have been promoted or demoted. Typically, we will announce promotions publicly in the Recent Promotions Forum; and will make you aware privately on the rare occasion that it has become necessary to serve you with a demotion. If you find that your rank has gone up or down, and no one has discussed it with you, then chances are, we are simply creating new ranks or consolidating old ranks; and you should not think that this in any way reflects on your standing in the guild. I would like to repeat that, to make sure everyone understands: If you receive a demotion, and no one has discussed it with you before hand, then please do not think of it as a true demotion. It simply means that we are making changes to the ranking structure. We may have obsoleted the rank that you previously held. We may have altered the prerequisites of the rank you previous held. Or it may involve several other reasons that do not reflect your contributions to the guild personally. If you have any comments or questions about the ranks or promotions, or if you feel you have been overlooked for a promotion, please contact a Flag Officer. |
