Is anyone interested in a short story I've written? Titled Jedi Vigilante: Righteousness and takes place in the Star Wars universe, post Revenge of the Sith. It's about a young Jedi Knight who has gone into hiding after Clone Wars and Order 66. He must face the risk of exposing himself to do what's right.

OH HUSH YOU. I are just kiddings. You know that. <3

Even though 90% of the stories on that site sucks, why not put it up there? Have people read your shit! Or you could use LJ and post it to communities. I'm not that much into the Star Wars fandom, but I'm sure there are other places where you could post your story too.

Oh, I thought you were making fun of fan fiction. I rarely write any fan fiction, unless you count RPing as fan fiction.

NAW SON. And yeah, you're all about that original fiction. Do you have a scribophile account? I want to practice writing with fanfiction before I tackle OF -- honing my style and whatnot.

AIN'T NOTHIN' WRONG WITH FANFICTION DAWG. Being a girl who fangirls a lot, I write it. I read it. Whateva.

I don't know what scribophile is, but that novel maker site is a pretty good find.

I was looking at some stories other people have written on various sites and what-not. Is it bad that I feel like I can write better than a few people who I saw with master's degrees?

no that's not bad. It's amazing reading and really focus on how writers are writing. My favorite author Raymond E Feist though his stories are great, he puts very little in the way of detailing. And he has little to no filler. He's straight forward to get the story told. It comes down to style of writing. And just because you have a masters degree in literature doesn't mean you can write. Just means you have a strong grasp of the english language and the various rules. Which for creative writing you really don't even want to know.

I was just on that Fan Fiction.net looking at SW stories. Jillian, you were right, they are SO bad! One person didn't even use paragraphs. They had like a line break between blocks of text... It was so weird.

Most who do fan fiction don't know how to really write. They are a fan, have an idea and just start writing it out.

Seriously, man. They suck. Hard. One thing I love about well-written fanfiction though, is that it helps me envision a situation that I wanted to actually happen. I'm a sucker for the relationships, man.

And Scribophile is a place where people get their writing torn the fuck up. These people really know how smack down a critique. I've never posted there -- story or critique -- but I want to worm my way into this community. It is primo.

I'm a sucker for an epic story or battle personally. I notice a lot of people write about secret/hidden romances. Like for some reason people were writing about Obi-Wan falling in love and having sex.. which isn't something he would've done as he was a very loyal Jedi.

Torn the fuck up, you say, sounds like a good place to me!

As sad as it is, I think that's a preference that can be chalked up to gender roles. Bahaha. I like the girly shit, you like the boyish shit. I think that anything is possible with any character in any story -- as long as there is a plausible build up to the out-of-character behavior. Imagination really takes the cake here. If you simply plunk OOC into the story, without any explanation, it's pure shit.

AND YEAHMAN. Sounds enticing, no?

I know what you mean. If done properly it can make sense. Though most of these were abrupt and didn't fit well, in my opinion. I'm sure the whole secret/hidden romance thing can be done well by certain people.

I love hearing critiquing, it makes it seem like I'm not insane for not liking my writing lol. I'll have to try that out myself. So far I haven't heard anything bad about my work and that worries me more than anything. lol.
