Since this game involves stats alongside heavy plots, updating is required if you wish to keep track of your character's statistical gains. This mode of record-keeping is called Updating, and we are currently employing a manual version of this process. (However, automatic updating is in the works!) In updates, your weekly activities are reflected, points are delegated, and claims are made. This thread has an example of a basic, bare-bones update, complete with explanations. Following this sample will be a simple bbcode format that you may use for your updates -- this will make life simpler for you and your updater.

Each player posts a log of their weekly activities in their designated folder. You will be assigned to a team, and this team will have a designated forum underneath the main Updates forum. In this team's forum, you will have your own specialized folder where you will be able to post all of your updates. No one else is allowed to post a thread in your update folder -- it's all yours.

Keep in mind that the following sample is not a definitive example, and it absolutely does not cover all of the possible options you can include in your update. There are other categories you include, as well as other notes to describe. The point of this example is to show the skeletal format of updates.

How To Successfully Update:
Step 1: Create a new thread in your update folder with a title of your choosing, and with the topic description including the dates of the update week.
Step 2: Copy and paste the update template into the topic. (Feel free to tweak the template, or even make/use your own -- but make sure that it is clear and easy-to-follow.)
Step 3: Fill out your update accordingly, and post the topic. You may post your update at any time during the week. Once you are satisfied with the material and ready to get it approved, you MUST put "Complete" anywhere in the topic title or description.
Step 4: Wait for a post from the updating staff. Your updater may not be able to get to it right away, so unless your wait leads into the next week, be patient and try not to constantly pester your updater.
Step 5: If the updater finds no issue or error with your update, they will approve it. On the other hand, if they do find an issue, simply fix the issues stated. Your updater will then make sure the addressed item is fixed, and will approve you as deemed fit.
Step 6: Once approved, go to your wiki page to update your page. Make the necessary changes, like putting in your new stats, any new items, etc.
Step 7: Once finished with the wiki, save it, and when the "edit note" prompt comes up, simply put in who approved your update.
Step 8: That's it -- no more, you're done! Just wait for the beginning of the next week to start your next update, and repeat the process.

The following post is an explanation of each section in an update. If you find yourself confused, simply post your questions in the Help Desk, and someone will help you (and also try to make the content on the site clearer!).

Stats Pre-Update:
Wiki
Note: A link to your wiki page will help your updater out immensely, not to mention yourself. The point is to have a place of reference for calculations and cross-checking information.

Travel:
Current Location: Self-explanatory -- this is where you are during the week of the update you are doing.
Traveling to/Time left: This is where you are heading, and how many weeks are left until you get there. When you type this, put it in the format of "time left/time it takes" -- or simply label which is which. During the weeks you are traveling, your location will be “Space”.

Training:
~ Training: This is where you put the gains of typical training found on the Training page. this may be self, partner, or master training -- or even some other way.
~ Equipment: Here, put in each item that will increase your stats, and list their gains as well. Only training equipment get placed here. Listing your equipment's gains out will speed up the approval process.
-->
-->
~ Training Items: Here is where you list items that affect your stats in any way. Listing what each piece of equipment doles out will speed up the approval process.
-->

Side Job: This is where you will put what your side job is, any licenses you have, and also the wong you get from it per week.

Inventory: Here, you list what you are purchasing, discarding, or mandated to give away.

Claims: If you have rewards from roleplaying -- as documented in the Rewards & Fines forum -- list them here, and provide a link to the post you got the rewards from. Also, if you have to reduce your stats and/or inventory because of gameplay, the fine will be found in the Rewards & Fines forum. Follow the same procedure for rewards.

Point Usage: List where points are being allocated. For AP, put the technique and cost, and for DP, put down how much you want to allocate to each stat.

Miscellaneous: This is for anything that doesn't exactly fit anywhere else. The basics are here, but as your character progresses, the organization may become more complex. For example, Miscellaneous could hold which class you're switching to. If you don't think something should go in Miscellaneous, feel free to put it into a category you feel is more fitting. As long as it is documented, it's alright.

Gains: In this section, total everything from above (keeping like terms with like terms, obviously) and list it here. These totals are referred to as gains.

Stats Post-Update: Last, add what you have above to your last update's stats (the stats currently on your wiki) and input the final total here.

Class Level(s):
Total EXP: This is your cumulative EXP.
EXP towards Next Level: This is how much EXP you have, given in terms with respect to your Level. Essentially, you are stating how much EXP you have until your next Level Up. A chart detailing EXP can be found here.
