Conversations are a way to have your character interact with characters not on the same planet as you. They take place over any means of real-time communication (AIM highly recommended), and the content of this roleplay is up to your discretion. Usually, they will consist of plot continuations with someone you'd like to roleplay with -- even though they're on another planet.
A final caveat: you can only have Conversations if you have an Exsto. This device allows for holographic projection of your character, meaning that you cannot have tangible contact with another character. When roleplaying, keep this in mind. (However, there are certain ways of enabling your Exsto to grant tangible contact.)

The following is an example of a Conversation between two characters.

Screename 1: “This better fucking work,” muttered a young blonde girl. To see such profanities spew from her delicately painted mouth was just as startling as seeing her with a colossal sword hanging from her hip. She seemed to be the epitome of sweet teenaged femininity – yet here she was, with the air of a testosterone-charged bounty hunter.
It was only another example of how the universe was full of contradiction. The Great Dimensional Cataclysm was certainly the leading example of such.
“I swear to the Gods,” she continued on, “if this damn thing doesn’t work, I’m going to slice it into a million fucking pieces!”
Thoroughly annoyed, the girl slammed the side of her hand into her Exsto. “Work! Shit!”
As if it had heard her, the device’s flat stage lit up with the promise of holographic intention. The light of the hologram flickered – and then it worked. She was now looking at the virtual image of her brother. Finally. “Well, it’s about time, Perinn!” she exclaimed.
Screename 2: Perinn paced back and forth in the cabin of his ship. Where was his sister? She was supposed to contact him eons ago. He knew that she wasn’t exactly the most technologically savvy person out there, but surely she knew how to operate a basic Exsto?
“Come on, Kalelle,” he mumbled to himself, while holding his own Exsto in the small of his hand. “Where are you?”
After a few more moments of impatient waiting, his Exsto rumbled with the announcement of an incoming call. In haste, he flicked a switch on its side, readily accepting the call.
“Kalelle!” he shouted to the holographic image, emanating from the Exsto in his hand. “What do you mean ‘it’s about time?!’ This is all your fault! Think you could be any more horrible with technology? I’m a sitting duck here on Callisto!”
Screename 1: “My fault?!” Kalelle screeched back. “My Exsto wasn’t even working! There are like 5 people on this planet who know how to fix them, myself definitely not included. Don’t you blame me for this! You’re the one who decided to go get those spirits on Callisto! And wait, why are you a sitting duck?”
Screename 2: The young man sighed and buried his face in his free palm. “Okay, whatever. Blaming isn’t going to get us anywhere. We have to focus on what’s happening now. I didn’t get the spirits yet, and my ship broke down. It needs a few parts. You have to come get me, because there’s no way I’m dealing with these shady merchants here. That sounds like a ‘sitting duck’ to you, doesn’t it?”
Screename 1: Kalelle rolled her eyes. She was the younger of the two, yet it was always up to her to get her brother out of disasters. “You didn’t even get the spirits yet? Alright, fine. I’m coming to get you. I would have had to come out there anyway, because I just found out that the Yucatan syndicate is milling about out there. You can’t stand a chance against them, at least not without backup.”
Screename 2: “See, sis?” Perinn said in a vastly more pleased tone. “I learn something from you every day. Actually, this girl I met here told me that she's trying to avoid them. She's on the ship right now. I’ve got to go tell her that they’re practically around the corner.”
Screename 1: “Wait, what?! You met a girl out there? And she's on your ship?! You know better than to socialize! You can’t trust her, Perinn!”
Screename 2: Grinning broadly at his sister, Perinn winked and flashed her a thumbs-up – as cheesy as it was. “Don’t worry, everything will be fine! I’m at sector 79-J-08. Don’t come too soon, because this girl is hot. Bye!”
Without letting Kalelle get a word in edgewise, he hurriedly snapped his Exsto off. “She is really hot,” he said to himself as he walked off in the direction of her quarters.
