ok, so you have the Jedi who left the Order to ultimatly become the Sith, and we know about the fallen 20; but I want to know if there was ever a Sith who was converted to the Light Side? |

Revan, if I'm not mistaken, made a full switch from Dark Lord of the Sith to rejoining the Jedi. A few others have repented of the Dark Side near the end (Anakin, Ulic), but Revan's the only one I can remember (re)joining the Jedi |

Well...do you mean like a person who was "raised" as a Sith and then converted to Jedi, similar to what some Jedi did? If so, I have no clue. :p About Revan...I wouldn't really say that was a fair situation. I mean, he was pretty much brain-washed by the Jedi into thinking he was a Jedi. |

Revan was brainwashed, but in the end he chose the light on his own, I think. Converting a dark character to the light would be very interesting to RP, actually... |

I'm now getting the mental image of a young Sith, captured by the Jedi, and offered a final ultimatum: turn to the light or be put to death. The Sith agrees, intending to just fake it to survive ... and eventually it becomes less pretence and more genuine conversion ... Be an interesting twist on the old "JOIN THE DARK SIDE OR DIE" thing. But I should be studying. |

Fascinating. Would a REAL JEDI give such an Ultimatum,hmmm...I wonder. I'm actually curious to know ( your thoughts ), although I have my own speculations. Generally, I think they'd do more of a 're-education therapy' a la KotOR. ;) |

ooh, I didn't notice you're on! I was thinking more along the lines of it happening in the New Republic-era Jedi, you know during the days of the Yavin IV academy, because in that era ... 1. the Jedi are nominally answerable to the New Republic government and vice versa, thanks to the Jedi Master and the Chief of State being siblings. 2. they've long forgotten how to brainwash people in that manner. (Kyp Durron's memory-sucking doesn't count, because it doesn't implant new memories in place.) So - it's not just the Jedi that give the ultimatum, rather a combination of the New Republic and the Jedi. The NR wants the Sith dead for war crimes (or for just being a darksider - whatever); the Jedi believe in redemption and are willing to take the risk of sheltering a darksider. Thus the Sith would have two alternatives, be put to death under NR law or accept Jedi protection. But I think even without the NR's involvement, the Jedi would give that ultimatum. From a completely pragmatic standpoint, they've forgotten how to do the mind-altering thing and letting a Sith loose in the galaxy would be really quite stupid - so alternatives are imprisonment (dangerous all around), death or 'redemption'. In a way it is sort of re-education therapy, albeit in a more voluntary fashion than "we'll wipe your mind and make you think you're someone else". edit - Also, and I think this is important as well, the Sith wouldn't be the Dark Lord of the Sith or something, but a senior apprentice/new Knight equivalent, young enough to change their mind about it all. Someone who's certainly taken steps down the dark path, but isn't that immersed, and is not powerful enough to pose that serious a threat if supervised. Sort of a borderline case. Er, also, note that I'm not speculating on how your RP Jedi Master might have turned to the light, Bant, especially since I don't know what era you're playing in (or anything else for that matter). It's a whole 'nother Sith inspired by the idea. But yah. I think it would be quite interesting - if not RP, perhaps fanfic. Or something. Perhaps even the Jedi might be divided on the subject ... some prefer the Sith to be put to death, others favour complete mindwiping ... it's only a handful (thought thankfully the handful in power) that really want to give redemption a chance. And perhaps the Sith keeps backsliding - not due to evil, but simply because darkness is a habit. ... *idea continues to sprout leaves and foliage in all directions* Aand I've derailed the thread completely. Sorry. :p Edited by Xany, Jun 10 2008, 06:16 AM.

lol. We don't have too much evidence of it. We see the classic examples of Vader and such, but aside from that I don't recall any specifics. However, there is no reason at all why a Sith can't convert to being a Jedi. |
