Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

Even from his kneeling position, Rosh managed to mount a defense against his opponent. The Darkside Apprentice was blocking and parrying each of Xan's strikes, blow for blow. Right, left, right, and again. It was taking every bit of skill he possessed not to be overwhelmed. And even though he did fall into the predetermined combat pattern, Rosh's mind was frantically seeking a way out of his current predicament. He didn't need the darkside to tell him how very vulnerable he was. And then, to his inner astonishment, his opponent granted him his wish.

Rosh sees the reverse grip uppercut as it's initiated. Everything seems to be happening in slow motion for that very instant. This was the same attacked that marked his face, and one that he'd not soon forget, and this time around, he would not be caught unawares by it.

In a smooth flow of motion, Rosh throws himself to the left, using his free hand as a springing mechanism and simultaneoulsly utilizing the force to jump aside and cartwheel away from the vertical slash, which misses him by a very small margin. Rosh flashes his lightsaber as he flips through the air, employing a text book deflection move. Gaining some distance from his opponent, Rosh lands smoothly, first on his right leg, then settling his lef down. There's a satisfied look in his face before his eyes narrow into a piercing glare which he levels in Xan's direction.

"So, you've got some spunk after all...." he admits after a beat. "Alright. C'mon then, let's finish this."

After a single twirl, Rosh levels his Lightsaber at his opponent and holds it firmly in a two-handed grip before he begins to circle Xan ever so slowly. Rosh gives no indication whether or not he is aware that he's landed fairly close to the room's back wall. The Darksider's eyes are focused solely on Xan as he looks for an opening to exploit, or maybe he waits for her to make a move he can utilize to his advantage. Either way, in his estimation, the match has gone-on for too long already.

No, this was not going to be easy at all.

For either of them.

Darth Nemisis' Apprentice
Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

The trouble with tricks were, they didn't work very well against opponents that could use the Force. Xan realized her mistake as Rosh threw himself sideways, cartwheeling through the air and narrowly avoiding her sabre. Kriff it, Xan thought savagely. She was getting sloppy; this match had gone on for far too long.

Rosh landed smoothly - still favouring his left leg, though, Xan noticed - near the room's back wall, and for a moment the two apprentices glared at each other. "So, you've got some spunk after all...." Rosh admitted after a beat. "Alright. C'mon then, let's finish this."

"Yes. Let's."

He began moving sideways as if trying to circle her. Not fooled, Xan sidestepped in the direction he was going, forcing him to either stop or come within sabre range again - or they could keep shuffling along along until one of them broke the stalemate. A childish stalling move, perhaps ... but Xan was trying to weigh the tactical merits of forcing Rosh back to the wall against the risks. His mobility was already lowered by his weak leg; if she could box him in, she might be able to end this .. or he could turn the tables on her just as easily.

Well. Life is risk.

Xan took two quick steps forward and swung her left sabre down in a savage diagonal slash at Rosh's right side. Her aim here was not to skewer him - although that would be fine too - but to force him back on his weaker left leg. She followed up immediately by pivoting into a sweeping horizontal slash with her right sabre, and then quickly thrust again with her left. The plan was to keep chaining together attacks, one move building up to the next, to put Rosh on the defensive and force him backwards into the wall.

Or he could figure out what she was doing, reverse their positions and she would be in a rather large amount of trouble. It would all depend on how good, exactly, Rosh Penin was at defending himself with limited room to manoeuvre and a weak leg.

OOC: Sorry for the wait, time has been extremely short for me lately but it does seem to be getting better at the moment. I am going off my posted CS, but as you will see in the post below I am going to have him work through some issues.

If you need any more info to go off of please let me know. :)

IC: Darth Paragon

For some people things come easily. This had often been the case for Darth Paragon, and as a result he had grown in skill and knowledge quickly ever since be had become a Sith. As of late however he felt as if he had entered a period of stagnation and boredom, everything seemed to be a challenge, even the most mundane of tasks.

"Am I deserving of my name? Am I as good as I once thought myself to be?" He asked, though nobody was visibly present he didn't care. The question was aimed at himself, as if simply speaking his doubts aloud could summon the confidence and courage needed to once again become the Sith he believed he was destined to be. Once, not long ago, he had believed himself to be one of great talent, but now he could only see weakness in much of what he did.

Something had changed the young Sith, and though he had analyzed the current events of his life many times, he could not find the one which had proven to be the catalyst of this change in him. It could be this above anything else that had brought him to such a low point in his short career, not knowing was rotting him from the inside.

"I must resolve my conflict and overcome my self doubt." His voice barely rose above a whisper. "If I cannot, it will surely be my destiny to fail over and again." This was surely what he believed to be the truth, and if that was to be his future he may as well put down his lightsabers and cloak now. There was no honor in striving to be mediocre, if that was the best a Sith could achieve he may as well be killed now instead of suffering the scorn of his peers.

These issues are exactly what brought him here. The name of Darth Manticore was well known to all Sith, and it was in his Dojo that he hoped to be able to break down the walls which prevented him from growing. The Sith knew that in this Dojo he would find no mercy, no kind words and no concern for his well being....he would only be confronted with the harsh reality of what he has become.

If he was fortunate, he would find a new source of strength within himself and finally break the chains which bound him.

"I am ready." He finally stated in a full voice, though he did not know if anyone was listening or cared. Standing in the Dojo with his deactivated lightsaber hilts in hand Darth Paragon searched his surroundings both with sight and through the Force, though his ability was but that of an apprentice he was aware of great power here.

Hopefully that power would show him the way.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

Rosh flared his nose as his opponent quickly realized that letting him circle around to a flanking position where she'd be vulneravle to attack, was a plain bad idea. Xan sidestepped in the direction Rosh was going and brought them both to within saber range. Rosh hesitated and almost stopped, but kept moving. He didn't look back, but it seemed he'd become suddenly aware of the wall behind him.

Rosh's eyes narrowed further as he gripped his lightsaber with greater determination. Their silence and the simultaneous buzzing humm of their three lightsabers worked in concert to fray at their nerves.

Sudenly, Xan took two quick steps forward and swung her left sabre down in a savage diagonal slash at Rosh's right side. Rosh was ready for her attack now that their positions seemed to be reversed and he parried successfully. Rosh countered with a diagonal slash to Xan's torso, but missed, as his nimble opponent had already moved out of the way by pivoting aside and countering with a sweeping horizontal slash with her right saber.

Rosh barely managed to block the slash to his exposed flank. His leg injury was reducing his reaction time by precious fractions of a second....and it showed.

Xan quickly thrust again with her left lightsaber, and Rosh had been a tad too slow to react.

Xan's left lightsaber found Rosh's shoulder to be a target not to be ignored.

The Dark Lord's apprentice lightsaber bit deep into Rosh Penin's deltoid muscle and shoulder bone, causing him to scream in pain. Rosh slashed desperately at Xan in tandem with Force Push to get her away from him, even as he stepped back and hit the back wall. The searing pain was almost more than he could bare.

The Dark Apprentice's dangling right arm was now useless to him as he slumped against the back wall. Rosh held up his red lightsaber with his left arm in a weak guarding position. He was sweating profusely now and he grimaced in pain. His breathing was heavy. He'd been cut in the face, kicked viciously in the left knee and now stabbed in the right shoulder. How were things turning out so badly for him, how?

"You haven't.....won....yet!" Rosh managed to voice defiantly through his heavy breathing and panting. A redish glow flared in his eyes for a moment as the darkside apprentice called on the power of the Force.

"Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....."

Rosh seemed to be gathering dark energy to himself as he focused his anger....and ever so slowly, he was begining to rise to his feet and correct his stance. He was not about to be beaten so easily, not if he had any fight left in him.

(Enter: Darth Paragon)

And so, while Xan and Rosh continued their battle, the silent siren call of Manticore's Dojo seemed to have attracted another Sith.

From where he stood, Lord Manticore turned his horned head and cast his fiery gaze at the Sith Apprentice who'd entered his domain. The Blood red zabrak kept his piercing gaze leveled at the cloaked figure who stood just inside the entrance of his dojo with his unlit saber weapon in hand.

The Sith Master recognized Darth Paragon at a glance, for the apprentice's name had caught his attention when he'd first heard it. But now as he gazed and appraised the Sith Apprentice, he wondered if his assumptions had been, sad to say...correct.

From across the room, Lord Manticore saw a faint reddish circle of sith runes glow fainlty under Darth Paragon's feet. Even from the moderate distance away from him, the Sith Master heard the Sith Apprentice as he exclaimed aloud; "I am ready..."

"Ready?" Lord Manticore's voice echoed. Darth Paragon would hear the Sith Master's voice as if he'd been standing next to him even though he wasn't.

"For what, exactly?" The blood red zabrak pressed.

"Are you ready to leave your trepidations 'outside' this place? if you bring that in here, you will surely fail. The Darkside favors the strong, not those who hesitate....and I sense much hesitation in you." the Sith Master's voice rasped through the gloomy room.

Several runic markings on the wall began to glow near Darth Paragon, almost as if the room itself were responding to his presence, scanning him through mysterious currents in the force, appraising him. The air around him seemed to chill just a little.

"You will find no pity here..." Lord Manticore declared in his raspy tone, then said not another word as he returned his gaze to the battle before him.

Nim watched the spectacle some distance away. Above her, the holocron pulsed and several bands of runic writing glowed in response. Nim leaned back against a wall, intently watching the combatants. She wondered how the room would handle her little toy. She let her fingers play against her weapon.

A mere moment later, a voice rang from the darkness close to her. Her ears flicked in the direction the voice came. "Yes, it does indeed look like a finely crafted weapon, unlike an hastily crafted one." Her eyes turned towards the speaker.

The speaker was a female in dark jedi clothing. The upper half of her face was covered with a maroon colored tatoo, which patterns were repeated as bands around her upper arms. Her dark hair was pinned back and held in place by exotic feather-like accessories. Her dark eyes regarded Nim with intense curiosity as she pointed with her chin towards the two combatants doing battle in the room.

"I guess that's what you get when using poor materials..." she half shrugged before adding; "...like a jedi."

Nim wondered how in the...she then gave herself a soft laugh as she stood straight. She had been leaning on the wall, thinking of her weapon. And now a being appeared, almost as if it had read her mind. It would seem she would have her wish sooner than she expected. She would have to remember that, the next she visited. The 'woman' was eyeing her darkly.

"Yes." Nim stated plainly as she continued to watch the battle. The famale sneered contemptuously as her eyes sparkled with a malicious glint. "I must say, I am rather fond of new weapons....and such."

Nim didnt miss a beat. "As are many, I would assume..." she added, her eyes now locked on the female in front of her. the woman's hand slowly fell to her side, where her lightsaber dangled gingerly. Her gazed traced Nim's weapon, before finally locking stares with the red pools of Nim's eyes.

"Not to worry...I'll take good care of it." she said, her tone dangerous, yet amused. Nim simply smiled, showing fangs as she laughed. "That would require you to own it first." she stated, her voice a whisper. "And I am not feeling generous..."

Nim wasted no time on the woman. She used the Force to slam the woman into the wall, as she drew down her shades, and drew her weapon. Even if she had not wished a fight, a small part of her was thrilled at the prospect of being able to fight without having to hold back her hand. Drawing the darkness to her, she used her natural abilities as a Defel, to blend into the shadows around them, as she began to spin the staff of her weapon. She did not ignite the blade just yet, waiting for the right moment, as she moved, closely watching this creature the room had created. Oh yes, she did not have to hold her hand. She almost panted in anticipation, as she licked her lips as she moved, ready to strike. This thing would find out just what a master of the Shadows could do.

OOC: I am sure I will enjoy your Dojo, this is something I have been looking forward too for a while now. It has also been a while since I had the opportunity to game under you, and I have found that is always a pleasure.

Game on Manticore. :D

IC: Darth Paragon

The young Sith stood within the entrance of the Dojo amid a myriad of glowing ruins, and though he had stated aloud he was ready, he had to wonder if he truly was.

Almost as if Lord Manticore had heard his thoughts, his next words reflected almost perfectly the unspoken doubts of the apprentice. "Ready?" It sounded as if he was right behind him, though Darth Paragon knew he was not. "For what, exactly?" The disembodied voice continued.

The apprentice began to open his mouth in order to reply, but before a word could escape him Lord Manticore pressed forward with his inquiry. "Are you ready to leave your trepidations 'outside' this place? if you bring that in here, you will surely fail. The Darkside favors the strong, not those who hesitate....and I sense much hesitation in you."

Nothing could have been further from the truth, and Darth Paragon knew this in the core of his being. As of late the doubt within him had prevented him from performing to his fullest, and if he could not leave this behind it would not be long before he was a Sith no more.

As his mind swirled with thought the ruins on the wall seemed to match this activity as their lights began to fluctuate in a frenzy of activity, though the Sith noticed neither this nor the slight temperature drop in the air around him.

"You will find no pity here..." The Sith Lord declared with finality. The younger Sith stood amid the dancing lights of the ruins for many long moments, reflecting on that which he had just heard. Did he desire pity? Not necessarily, but he could see how it would appear that way.

What he desired was an unforgiving teacher, one would not pamper him with kind words or undeserving compliments. He wanted to hear the truth of his ability, or lack there of. Nothing more. Without it Darth Paragon knew he could not grow, he would never be able to progress beyond this point in his life, and he would forever more run into the walls which prevented him from becoming truly deserving of his name.

"I am ready to know the truth of myself, no matter what it is." The apprentice finally said, his voice filled with much more resolve than before. "I am ready to test myself. Both in mind and body. In order to reach my full potential I must face challenges more difficult than ever I could have imagined, and if I fail so be it." He stated firmly.

In the Dojo of Lord Manticore, Darth Paragon knew he would find himself once again. Though the path ahead may be a terrible one to fathom, he would walk it nonetheless.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Enter Darth Paragon

"I am ready to know the truth of myself, no matter what it is." Darth Paragon finally said, his voice filled with much more resolve than before. "I am ready to test myself. Both in mind and body. In order to reach my full potential I must face challenges more difficult than ever I could have imagined, and if I fail so be it." He stated firmly.

Lord Manticore regarded the sith apprentice silently for a long moment. His resolve seemed genuine. There was a familiar steel-like quality to it, a thirst he knew all too well. Could this be the one?

After keeping silent for a long moment and his fiery eyes firmly on the Sith Apprentice, the blood red zabrak sensed no waning in Darth Paragon's resolve. This almost made him smile, but he dismissed the sentiment. Instead, he walked forward, so his outline was visible within the gloomy chamber. Lord Manticore's dark robes caught the faint reddish glow emitted by nearby runes. He levelled his fiery gaze at Paragon, before speaking in the dark rasp he was known for.

"An unfinished sword must be cast into the forging fires to be perfected...purified, just like any would-be warrior seeking to be the perfect weapon."

The Sith Master paused, letting his words sink in.

"Fire burns, but the end results of the purifying process are unequaled. But beware, there are no guarantees, just possibilities. The same forge that purifies can also burn and ruin the sword. A good sword smith needs good materials to forge a masterpiece......but, I digress."

Lord Manticore gave one last appraising look to Paragon before he granted him a curt nod, then stepped back into the shadows.

"Allow me to introduce, Sirak. Sith Apprentice."

In Lord Manticore's place, another figure came into view. This was a yellow skinned zabrak with feral orange eyes and a positively predatory expression on his face. His dark loose fitting clothes marked him as an apprentice sith marauder. In his right hand, he brandished an as of yet unlit double bladed lightsaber hilt.

The look Sirak shot Paragon was pure venom. The contempt in his burning orange eyes spoke volumes.

Sirak flared his nose then spat on the floor.

"Pfft! You.... you are my opponent?" he asked as if insulted.

"I told the Masters not to waste my time with unworthy would-be warriors. I can tell just by looking that you are clearly beneath me......weak, just like the rest. Leave here now, or forfeit your life. Last chance."

Sirak spat on the floor once again, and looked down at Paragon, before half-turning away with unfeigned disinterest.

Darth Shadow vs. Tavion

Nim wasted no time on the woman. She used the Force to slam the woman into the wall, as she drew down her shades, and drew her weapon.

Tavion gestured with one hand, and Nim's Force attack crashed against Tavion's shiled, which succesfully shunted the force of the impact around it. "Nice try..."Tavion said with a chuckle, as she began to pace around her enemy. In a blink of an eye, her lightsaber seemed to leap to her waiting hand as it ignited in mid-air. The crimson blade shot forth at her command and hummed lke an eager and obedient pet.

Nim drew the darkness to her, as she used the natural abilities of a Defel, to blend into the shadows around them, as she began to spin the staff of her weapon. She did not ignite the blade just yet, waiting for the right moment, as she moved, closely watching this creature the room had created.

"Do you really think that your natural abilities can keep me from knowing where you are?" Tavion asked sarcastically. To make her point, she gestured with her free hand and sent a bolt of sith Lightning towards Nim's weapon.

If it was conductive, her opponent would be shocked by the attack and would most likely release the prize she sought, due to muscle spasms. It would be childsplay to pluck it from the air after that.

"All too easy.." Tavion whispered to herself as she smiled.

Darth Shadow

Nim watched with interest as the woman put forth a shield, deflecting her attack. Oh, now that was different.

"Nice try..." the woman said with a chuckle, as she began to pace around Nim. Nim was also quick to noticed that she was quick on her saber draw.

Nim was not that naive. But she knew that there was a huge difference in sensing where someone was within the force, and seeing EXACTALLY what their hands and body was doing, was two different things. As the bolt of lighting came towards Nim's hands, Nim's grin turned wicked, as she charged the female, blade flicking to life, its wicked scythe blade humming to life.

Nim was a rune weaver, a gift forgotten to most. Her weapon was made of such things.

Her weapon, without the blade, looks like a staff with a strange looking foot extended slightly over the top. Deep blood red runes, cover the weapon. A tiny stone, at the foot end of the weapon. The stone aids in absorbing and dissipating Energy that is within 5' of it, due to the runes carved within it. The runes on the weapon convey a Web of the Darkside, when called upon, allowing Nim to summon strands of Dark side power, and wrap them around any given target, ensnaring them in a mesh of intensity.

It was that ability she called into being, as she attacked with a wicked diagonal slash, looking to cleave her target.

Tavion's dark eyes narrowed slightly as her lightning strike failed to reach it's target. That was quite curious, as well as informative. But even as she processed this new bit of knowledge, Nim charged at Tavion, the blade in her saber scythe flicking to life and humming in response to its activation.

Nim's attack was fast, Tavion could appreciate her opponent's speed, however, she also felt something else.

A trap.

Strands of darkside power were converging upon her, she could feel them.

"Clever.....very clever...." Tavion mused, even as she made quick with her footwork to pivot away from Nim's diagonal slash. With her saber hand, she deflected and with her free hand she made a quick gesture.

Just like Tavion's Sith lightning, Nim's darkside strands were dissipated. Tavion merely smiled, amused.

"Not bad...." Tavion decalred as she twirled her lightsaber once. "Equal parts attack and defense..."

"Are there any other tricks...?"

The darkside surged within Tavion, even as she planned her next series of moves. This encounter seemed to have potential, something she had not come across in a very long time.

Darth Nemisis' Apprentice
Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

Xan's first slash was blocked, but that was to be expected. The Sith Apprentice dodged his counterattack and swung again - blocked - no matter - her plan was simple, press him hard enough and eventually his defences would crack. Xan thrust again, and was rewarded with a scream of pain when her blade bit deep into Rosh's right shoulder.

Before she could take advantage of this, the Force slammed into her, sending her stumbling back a few paces as she easily parried the desperate slash that accompanied it. Cute. "That's my trick," Xan commented derisively as she regained her balance. Exhilaration rushed through her; she had him now. It was just a matter of time.

"You haven't.....won....yet!" Rosh snarled. Xan only sneered back, but the expression faded as she took in his weirdly glowing eyes - they had not been red a moment ago - and the fact that he seemed to be gaining strength, his stance strengthening, his spine straightening. Instantly Xan knew what he was up to. Dark energy gathered around him, drawn by his anger and desperation, lending him strength.

It was said that the cornered animal was the most dangerous, and Rosh was most definitely cornered. This wasn't over yet.

Well, two can play that game. Xan's eyes narrowed to slits as she, too, opened herself up to the dark side of the Force. Here, where the dark side was strong, it rose at her touch easily, and the Dark Lord's Apprentice fuelled its power with her own, her icy rage and determination to win at all costs, and felt it respond -

Darkness crackled around them both. It was exhilarating, power to the likes of which Xan had never experienced before; power, if she was honest with herself, nearly beyond her ability to control. But control was not the aim here. The dark side surged around her, through her, and Xan gave herself over to its power.

The dark side whispered, and the Sith formerly known as Selene Artigan heeded its call. In a blur of motion, she lunged forward, launching into a flurry of attacks almost too fast for the eye to follow.

Well, if this was an indication of things to come, it would be a VERY interesting battle indeed. As Nim evaded the woman's lighting strike, when she commenced her own attack, moving to slice at her, while her secondary attacked also moved into being.

"Clever.....very clever...." the woman mused, even as she made quick with her footwork to pivot away from Nim's diagonal slash. With her saber hand, she deflected and with her free hand she made a quick gesture. And now it was Nim's turn to be suprised, as her second attack was dissapated. Her ears flickered. Wether in suprise, or annoyance it was hard to say. Tavion merely smiled, amused. "Not bad...." Tavion decalred as she twirled her lightsaber once. "Equal parts attack and defense..." "Are there any other tricks...?"

Nim could feel the woman gathering the darkness to her, even as Nim was moving. Nim had never stopped moving. Since this woman was fast, she would have to use her blade even faster. After her diagonal slah had failed, Nim quickly flipped the blade in her hands, so that its curved blade would once again be in position to attack... this time from a back manuever. Nim yanked the blade forward in a smooth move, as she moved sideways.

This creature was tricky. And she fought like Nim. Too much like her..frelling computer. She spun around, bringing up a leg to kick in the womans midsection as she pulled the sythe in towards her. She kept the back in lowered, in order to use it defensively as needed. She thought of using another power, but it dawned on her that the thing before her would simply negate it. No mater, for Darth Shadow was more than just the sum of her powers. The thing wanted tricks? Then she would not be found wanting. Nim did not stand still for a moment, but continued to flow from one move to another, as she waited for the woman to retailate.

IC: Darth Paragon

As the Sith Lord walked toward him, his robes reflecting the crimson light of the nearby ruins, he looked like a creature emerging from childhood nightmares. Being confronted with such a being, a Sith Lord of great power, never put one at ease. How could it? Sith. The very word brought nightmares to children across the galaxy, and though Darth Paragon sought to be one himself being confronted with a true Sith was humbling.

As Lord Manticore's eyes seemed to burn through the apprentice's soul, he spoke, "An unfinished sword must be cast into the forging fires to be perfected...purified, just like any would-be warrior seeking to be the perfect weapon." His words were true, this much Darth Paragon knew.

His hoarse voice continued, "Fire burns, but the end results of the purifying process are unequaled. But beware, there are no guarantees, just possibilities. The same forge that purifies can also burn and ruin the sword. A good sword smith needs good materials to forge a masterpiece......but, I digress." The young apprentice could only nod his understanding.

He resolve was yet firm. Would he be the proper material needed to forge a masterpiece? The answer to that he did not know, but he was sure that he would keep himself in the flame as long as needed. If that flame destroyed him, it was the Force's will.

"Allow me to introduce, Sirak. Sith Apprentice." The Zabrak's words cut off any more reflection, and before his very eyes the vision of Lord Manticore disappeared and was replaced by that of a yellow skinned male of the same race. His clothing was loose fitting, allowing freedom of movement. What stood out was his eyes, no doubt these were the eyes of a predator hungry for a kill....but not one without challenge. In his hand was the tool of his trade, though Darth Paragon had never fought with or against one, he recognized it to be a double bladed saber.

The Zabrak spat on the floor before the Sith apprentice, his disdain clear even before his action or words. "Pfft! You.... you are my opponent?" he asked as if insulted. "I told the Masters not to waste my time with unworthy would-be warriors. I can tell just by looking that you are clearly beneath me......weak, just like the rest. Leave here now, or forfeit your life. Last chance." He finished, but not before again spitting on the floor at the apprentice's feet.

As the yellow skinned Zabrak began to turn Darth Paragon pressed the activation toggles on each hilt, and he remained still as his crimson blades extended to full length. He offered this man, Sirak, no words. The insult he was given was too much, and in the apprentice's soul now burned an intense fire of hatred which would only be quenched by revenge for this affront to his honor.

Beyond brandishing his lightsabers, the young apprentice's only reply was to spit at the Zabrak's body, not at the floor but at his very person. With any luck the spittle would hit his head.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs.Rosh

One handed as he was, Rosh was no match for the Dark Lord's Apprentice-especially now that she'd opened up herself to the power of the Darkside, just as he had.

Using all his knowledge and power, Rosh blocks and deflects as best as he can, he takes glancing slashes and burns on purpose, as he pours on his speed and reflex abilities only in instances needed to narrowly avoid any finishing moves that may be thrown his way. Rosh cannot keep up with the swift series of attacks, not with his one-handed sword techniques against Xan's double sabers....but,then again, he doesn't have to.

Rosh grins wildly at Xan even as she manages to cut him once again. Darkside energy crakles with unpresedented fury between these two combatants, and the runes in the room seem to respond to the intensity of their struggle as they pulse again and again.

Suddenly and totally unexpectedly, Rosh let's go of his saber and steps into one of Xan's thrusting attacks and takes a saber to the stomach!! In the same motion he grabs her arm and holds fast to her, bringing her close to him. His grip is stronger than a vise and nigh unshakable.

Rosh's eyes pulse with a red tinted glow as his eyes stare right into Xan's. As he opens his mouth, Rosh coughes up blood. His grip does not loosen as he finds his voice, which comes as a heated wild whisper, filled with malice.

"I have you now...*cough*....and I'm taking you...with....me..."

Securing his grip and his stance even further, Rosh brings his knowledge of the Force to keep them both rooted on that spot. All while they fought, Rosh had grabbed a spear from a nearby weapon's rack and manipulated it to spin like a drill. Now that spear streaked through the air, emitting a low whistle as it parted the air and sped towards Xan's vulnerable, undefended and exposed back.

"G'bye dark flower....*cough*, good to know that you're weak...just like me...."

And in a blink of an eye, the spear was upon them both.

Darth Shadow vs. Tavion

Nim kept herself moving, even as she attacked again by yanking her scythe. Tavion nimbly cartwheeled over the attack and delivered a counter attack of her own. Her leading leg moved swiftly towards it's target, but Nim too was moving. Tavion's leg narrowly missed Nim's head as she spun.

Almost simultaneoulsly, Nim turned to deliver a kick of her own, but Tavion's rotation took her outside of harm's way and she used her trailing leg to deflect Nim's kick. Their close quarter dance continued unimpeded as both combatants flowed into their next actions.

Tavion twisted nimble and landed smoothly on her back. It was a good thing that Nim kept herself in motion, but she was still in real danger of Tavion, who struck out from her ground position by slashing her lightsaber in a deadly sweeping arc meant to cut off both of Nim's legs at the ankles.

Darth Paragon vs. Sirak

As Sirak slowly turned in seeming disinterest, he patiently waited for what he knew was soon to come. Something he had initiated and predicted. Even before he fully turned, he was smiling inwardly.

Sirak could feel the blossoming heat of his opponet's anger-like a mushrooming cloud of fire. Sirak was not surprised at how easily his goad had hit the mark, and to good effect. After all, he was quite adept at that sort of manipulation. As he'd expected, his ears picked up the unmistakable sound of an igniting lightsaber. The yellow zabrak could see the glow of his enemy's weapon in his peripheral vision.

Sirak allowed himself to smile.

And less than a hearbeat later, there was instantaneous motion.

Sirak pivoted on the spot with blinding speed. The spittle Darth Paragon had launched at his head missed by mere centimeters. And in a blink of an eye, Sirak's double bladed lightsaber sprang to life as both blades ignited simultaneously, even as the weapon was swung.

Moving with the grace and power of fearsome predator, Sirak spun and performed a low reverse slash at his opponets lower legs, which he smoothly followed with a forward moving horizontal slash to the body.

It was a deadly and often leathal combination, since it rendered an opponent incaple of moving from their position, before being hewn by the follow up attack.

It yet remained to be seen if Darth Paragon would survive the refining fires of Lord Manticore's Dojo.

Xan vs. Rosh

It would seem Xan was winning.

Rosh, injured and fighting left-handed, put up a good fight - but he was no match for her relentless dual-sabre assault. Again and again, Xan scored hits; first a score against his injured leg, then searing a line down his side, then burning his right forearm when he was a hair too slow in pivoting out of the way. She had yet to land a killing blow, but the Force was telling her when to strike, where to aim, how to move - he wouldn't be able to hold out forever.

Xan scored yet another glancing blow. But far from looking panicked, or worried, or anything one might expect from a being in his position, Rosh was grinning wildly - a fact that managed to penetrate the haze of adrenaline and dark Force-induced bloodlust Xan was operating under. That was her only warning that something was perhaps wrong, and even so, it came too late.

Suddenly, Rosh dropped his sabre and stepped into a thrust. Her sabre sank deep into his stomach, and his now-free left hand clamped over her wrist in a vise-like grip and pulled, pinning them close together.

Momentarily stunned, Xan stared up at Rosh, her eyes wide with astonishment. What the kriff was he doing? Rosh's eyes were still glowing an eerie red, and his mouth was split into a wide, bloody grin. "I have you now..." he whispered, coughing, his voice low and dark and wild, "....and I'm taking you...with....me..."

Xan twisted in his grip, but to no avail: even injured, his grip was simply stronger, and he had called upon the Force to root them both to the spot. They were stuck.

The Force screamed in warning.

"G'bye dark flower...." He coughed again; this close, blood splattered Xan's face and neck. "Good to know that you're weak...just like me...."

Desperately, Xan swung her free sabre up at his neck. If she could kill him before he did whatever he was doing - but it was already far, far too late. White-hot pain flared in the centre of her back as the spear slammed into her, drilling through her flesh and out again to impale Rosh as well.

Too late.

Green eyes met reddish-grey, and Xan inclined her head in a slight, congratulatory salute, from one Sith to another. "Well played," she murmured.

And then ... nothing.

I think this ranks as the most fun, and breathtakingly difficult, duel I've ever had the pleasure of having. Well played, indeed. :D

Darkness had claimed Xan's conciousness after her duel with the Darkside Apprentice Rosh Penin. Their struggle had been intense from the very beginning, culminating in a dramatic finish. Both Apprentices had fought each other at their fullest potential, giving no quarter and expecting none in return.

The resulting clash was spectacular.

But in this case, tasting the sweet nectar of Victory also meant tasting the bitter tang of defeat.

Conciousness returned ever so slowly to Xan. Surely she felt like she floated in a vast dark void and now she was raising, with no hurry, but towards what?

When her mind did finally touch the concious world, Xan's eyes would flutter lazily open, but everything would look blurry. The first things that she'd become aware of would be that she was indeed floating, but not in mid-air, but upright, inside a liquid environment. But would she recognize the transparisteel container for what it was?

But maybe she would feel the apparatus covering her nose and mouth and the electrodes attached to various parts of her body. Maybe she would spy the dimly lit surroundings of a small medical ward and the nearby med-droid, but perhaps not before the throbbing sensation in the middle of her back caught her attention.

There was no way of knowing for sure, but only after she regained conciousness.

OOC: Xan, you have no idea how much I enjoyed your duel against Rosh. Your posts were of good quality and realistic for your level, and what you did there at the end was spectacular! Kudos. Needless to say, you gain prestige with Lord Manticore and his Dojo. Well done.

The female Sith's leg narrowly missed Nim's head as she spun. Seemed a bit too simple, and Nim was definitely on look out for a secret attack, as she used her Sythe to vault herself up out of harms way. But she had a reason for using her weapon this way as well.

As it touched the floor, she called upon the powerful runes that she herself had etched along the staff, and a pulse of powerful energy swept outwards and up from the ground. An unseen attack, but one that would most defiantly be felt.

She finished her leap, and pulled her sythe close to her, as she continued to move. The leap bought her some breathing space, as she now held her blade steady, moving for the next attack... that is, o the Sith still stood from her previous attack.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Darth Shadow vs. Tavion

Tavion's red saber whipped around in a flash, tracing a red arc of crimson light, lethal and dangerous. She was not totally surprised when her opponent moved out of the way, though she was hoping to at least 'clip' one of her legs. However, she didn't have any time to wonder about such things. Her danger sense screamed at her even as Nim used her weapon to vault over Tavion's attack, and then, quite suddenly, there was an eruption in the Force.

A pulse of energy swept outwards and up fom the ground. It was an unseen attack that came from Nim's weapon, which was it's epicenter.

Tavion only managed to half shield hersef and dissipate just enough of the enrgy for it to knock her back without harming her physically. Immediately getting her bearings, she flipped in mid-air and righted herself before landing in a crouched position some distance from her opponent.

The Darksider rasied an eyebrow in mild surprise and gave Nim the slightest nod.

"That was an interesting surprise.." she said in a cool, but still dangerous tone.

Tavion's dark eyes regarded Nim's form with devious calculation. She spun her saber once in her hand as the darkside began to gather around her once more.

"Shall we continue?" she said in mock amusement, inviting Nim to resume their deadly dance.

Apologies for the delay ... exams. :(

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan

Xan had not expected to live. The spear had torn straight through her midsection with enough force to impale her and Rosh to the wall; it was not the sort of blow one usually lived through.

Yet alive she was. She was vaguely aware of a feeling kind of like floating gently in a dark void, and at first she gave this no further thought at all. Then came other sensations: it was not completely dark, after all, but dimly lit, and there was some sort of thing on her face -

Xan's eyes flew open. For a panicked moment she had no idea where she was, but then her eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, bringing her surroundings into focus - a medbay, she was in a medbay, if the various bits of machinery, readouts and the nearby med-droid were any indication. And the reason everything looked so oddly distorted was because she was suspended in a liquid-filled transparisteel tank - a bacta tank. That meant - her fingers flew to her face, or at least as fast as she could move her arm through the viscous liquid - the thing on her face was a breath mask.

Her midsection throbbed. Xan had ignored the sensation in favour of figuring out where she was, but now she tilted her head down as far as she could to get a look. Where there had been a gaping wound there was now only pink, new skin - still slightly tender to the touch, but a far cry from the agony she remembered. She reached around to her back - same thing. How long have I been in here? Xan wondered.

And more importantly, now that she had regained consciousness - when could she get out?

Nim watched as the thing avoided most of her attack. She did catch some of it, and it had knocked her backwards. Not far enough, as far as Nim was concerned.

The female flipped in mid-air and righted herself before landing in a crouched position some distance from her opponent. The Darksider rasied an eyebrow in mild surprise and gave Nim the slightest nod.

"That was an interesting surprise.." she said in a cool, but still dangerous tone.

"Good. I have more." Nim replied cooly.

The female's dark eyes regarded Nim's form. She spun her saber once in her hand as the darkside began to gather around her once more. "Shall we continue?" she said in mock amusement, inviting Nim to resume their deadly dance.

Nim had already contemplated her next move, even as the darkside swirled around her form. With a roar for a challenge, she charged at the dark female, her sythe positioned to deal a deadly swipe to the thing. She rushed upon the Sith using every ounce of Force speed to propel herself for her attack. When she was well within range of the woman, things changed.

Darth Shadow acted as her name suggested, and phase shifted for a few precious seconds, moving through the woman, then she delivered her true attack with her sythe, as she moved it in a dizzying pattern, as she continued own, to stop at turn a distance away, to see the effects of her attack.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan

A silent alarm from the medical droid was activated as soon as Xan had gained conciousness, but the Sith Master of the Dojo, Lord Manticore, had no need of such warning systems while within the Dojo. The Darkside of the Force was very strong here and it grew even stronger with each combat session. The blood red zabrak could feel it quite plapably and momentarily wondered as to the 'Dojo's' capacity.

As it was, he felt Xan's presence as her conciousness spiked into the world of the living and he dutifully made his way over from an adjacent room where he had been both studying combat techniques and reviewing the latest encounters, and entered the small medical ward.

Lord Manticore simply observed Xan's bacta-tank appraisingly as he approached the tubular structure. His dark form, shrouded in his cloack stopped about two meters short of the healing apparatus.

When Lord Manticore next spoke, it was through the Force. Xan would be able to hear him clearly, almost as if he were inside the tank with her, thought he was clearly speaking into her mind. His words would be such that they'd appear to answer some of her questions.

//Welcome back to the world of the concious Apprentice Xan. Glad to have you back after so fierce an encounter. I knew you'd be strong enough to make it back. You've been drifting in and out of conciousness as your body knit itself up over the last nine days. Such a rapid process is welcomed. Certainly a testament of your innate vitality, given the circumstances. I'd hate to be charged with the task of repalcing such a promising apprentice.//

The real zabrak chuckled under his dark hood. Unfortunatelly, the strange sound was echoed in Xan's mind.

//I'll have the medical-droid release you from your confines momentarily, however, you will be required to stay in the ward for three more days. We can't have you damaging yourself accidentaly."

Lord Manticore half turned to go and start the purging process, but stopped in mid-motion for a brief moment.

//And Xan....well done.//

After a curt nod, the Sith Master went about the business of releasing the Dark Lord's Apprentice from her liquid prison and moving her to a more suitable setting within the ward.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Darth Shadow vs. Tavion

Tavion watched calmly and with calculating eyes as the Sith filled herself with the darkside, just as she was doing. Good. Filled with the darkside as they were would make their match all the more interesting, she mused.

"That was an interesting surprise.." Tavion said in a cool and collected, but still dangerous tone.

"Good. I have more." Nim replied matching Tavion's confidence.

After a beat and a twirl of her lightsaber, Tavion spoke again. "Shall we continue?"

Nim had already contemplated her next move, even as the darkside swirled around her form. With a roar for a challenge, she charged at the dark female, her scythe positioned to deal a deadly swipe to the thing. She rushed upon the Sith using every ounce of Force speed to propel herself for her attack.

Tavion had been expecting a linear attack, yes, but she did not expect the Sith female to cover the distance with such speed. Tavion had to change her own tactic due to this. A simple pivot and counterstrike wouldn't do in this case, so Tavion opted to jump and flip in place while she performed a beheading strike, seeing how her opponet's weapon was poised for a horizontal strike.

But as Tavion's lightsaber lashed out viciously at the spot where Nim's neck was sure to be, nothing happened.

It took Tavion a millisecond to realized what had happened. That sensation...that slight chill she'd felt while flipping, it had not been her imagination. The Sith female had indeed passed 'through' her using THAT trick.

Though she was genuinly surprised, Tavion still took action with desperate speed.

At Tavion's back, Nim's saber scythe whirled in dangerous arcs of attack. Tavion automatically put up a force shield behind her, even as she leapt forward and away from her attacker, but the runes in Nim's weapon prevented any force use at such a close range.

No Force shiled came to her defense and she could not force jump to a safe distance.

Sith spit!!

Tavion felt several slashes at her back, even as she spun out to avoid her attacker. Tavion performed a whirling slash as she fell, but there was no one there to recieve her attack. Nim had moved on some distance away and now turned to see her handiwork.

Tavion was on the floor, shaking with rage as she propped herself up with one arm. She was clearly wounded by Nim's surprise attack and quite badly, but she seemed more defiant than ever, despite her poor state. Tavion suddenly raised her head and looked up at Nim, her eyes tinted with a ghostly red glow as sweat dripped from her face.

"Well met Sith. I only know of 'one other' who utilizes 'that' trick to such a high degree..."

The darkside spiked around Tavion and surged like a bonfire as she slowly began to get up. The sith runes around the room glowed with greater intensity.

"That's a mighty powerful weapon you possess. Unique and unmatched. It may bring certain doom upon your enemy, but also upon you if you are not careful."

Tavion was now standing at her full height.

"This round goes to you..."

An amorphous shroud of dark energy appeard around the Darkside Master as she worked a few knots from her neck.

"Let's continue only if you believe yourself ready to face my true power." Tavion said, giving Nim an acknowledging nod, with that knowing smirk still etched upon her face.

The strange and unremarkable choker she wore was now glowing with darkside energy as she waited for a response from her capable adversary.

Nim's attacked caught the calculating Sith off guard. As Darth Shadow had phase shifted, the female had taken a swing at her neck. Nim rather enjoyed the look on her face. But it was a brief sight, as Nim's saber scythe whirled in dangerous arcs of attack, at the females back.

The woman was on the floor, shaking with rage as she propped herself up with one arm. She was clearly wounded by Nim's surprise attack and quite badly, but she seemed more defiant than ever, despite her poor state. Tavion suddenly raised her head and looked up at Nim, her eyes tinted with a ghostly red glow as sweat dripped from her face.

Red glow? Nim took in a deep breath, as she watched the creature.

"Well met Sith. I only know of 'one other' who utilizes 'that' trick to such a high degree..." Darth Shadow nodded towards the woman. Nim did not know what 'other's he spoke of, and personally, she didnt wish to find out.

Suddenly the darkside spiked around Tavion and surged like a bonfire as she slowly began to get up. The sith runes around the room glowed with greater intensity. Nim noticed the runes as the burned... almost like the woman's eyes had. BAKA! The program on THIS room was definitely more than she had expected. MUCH MORE.

"That's a mighty powerful weapon you possess. Unique and unmatched. It may bring certain doom upon your enemy, but also upon you if you are not careful."

The truth of any good weapon. Nim was noticing with dismay that the woman was now standing up at her full height, as if she had never been injured. Nim doubted that her own healing abilities were quite THAT quick.

"This round goes to you..."

An amorphous shroud of dark energy appeared around the Darkside Master as she worked a few knots from her neck.

Nim mentally cursed.

"Let's continue only if you believe yourself ready to face my true power." Tavion said, giving Nim an acknowledging nod, with that knowing smirk still etched upon her face. The strange and unremarkable choker she wore was now glowing with darkside energy.

Ahhh. Nim believed she saw the truth of things at the moment. It was a true challenge being issued now. And Nim was sorely tempted to take her on the challenge. But Nim had been hard pressed by the woman. And even now, as she drew upon the energy of the Darkside to revive her, she felt something else...

Nim gave a toothy smiled, as she shook her head. NOT turning off her saber, she merely backed away to what was a respectful distance... (there was no such thing as a SAFE distance when a Sith was concerned), and turned off her weapon.

"While I am MOST tempted.... I am no fool. Another time, our sabers WILL cross paths again."

Nim backed way from her 'opponent', and exited the fighting area...and the inner parts of the Dojo, away from the runes. As she had already found out, anything done within the runes, was considered a 'challenge'. She was still getting used to her weapon, and combinations. She would study more, before she would challenge THAT particular being again.

Shortish and late, but eh...

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan

Xan jerked, startled, when Lord Manticore's voice rang through her mind. She shouldn't have been surprised; of course the Sith Master would keep tabs on her. His voice was startlingly clear, as if he were inside the tank as well, though clearly it wasentirely telepathic - not being capable of replying in kind, the Sith Apprentice merely listened as he informed her that she'd been in the tank for nine days and was expected to spend the next three recuperating.

She would have sighed had her breathing not been entirely machine-regulated. Three days, on top of the nine she had already spent in the tank - was that really necessary? She felt fine already. The twinge in her midsection was nothing, really ...

The Zabrak Sith turned to leave, but paused. //And Xan....well done.//

Involuntarily, Xan grinned behind her breath mask. Well. From a Sith Master, that was high praise indeed. She might not have won, technically speaking, and she knew she could do better - but she had done well. Buoyed by the thought, Xan didn't protest when the med-droid hauled her out of the tank and unceremoniously showered off the remaining traces of bacta. Her good mood lasted until it then directed her to the bed that she was confined to for the next three days.

The Sith Apprentice settled into the bed with a sigh and glanced around. She had been given a hospital shift to wear, but someone had put her clothes in a neat pile off to one side, along with her lightsaber - a fresh set, she noted, not the undoubtedly torn and bloodstained garments she had fought in. Miscellaneous diagnostic and monitoring equipment were arrayed around her, and as she lay down they came to life, tracking her heartbeat through the bed and some other things she didn't immediately recognise. All very interesting to a med-droid, to be sure ...

Xan suspected her greatest challenge would be to not go out of her mind with boredom.

Med-bay

The time finally came when Xan was released. She was able to function at nearly full capacity thanks to the healing treatments, but there was still a shadow of pain in the wound she'd suffered. It would be a reminder of her encounter for the next few days.

The med-droid exited the room and allowed Xan to change into her more familiar garments. Being the Dark Lord's Apprentice did have its perks.

When she was done and perhaps ready to finally leave the confines of the med-bay, a cloacked figure appeared at the door's threshold.

By now she could recognize by the fierce and intimidating demeanor that this was none other than Lord Manticore himself.

The Sith Master regarded Xan for a moment before speaking.

"You're up. Good. Come with me. We can talk about your experience in the dojo..."

With that, the blood red zabrak departed and went his way, fully expecting Xan to follow as instructed.
