The blood red zabrak stumbled into this strange place quite by accident, or was it indeed an accident? While trying to find a secluded place in which to train in private within the Sith Academy on Ziost, Lord Manticore grew somewhat frustrated at his lack of success. No space seemed far enough or deserted enough to suit his needs. Growing increasingly frustrated, the Sith Master was about to give up his search, when a strange chill ran through him as he passed by a simple archway. The sensation caught his attention and he approached carefully. After all, this was still an ancient SITH site.

Upon entering, Lord Manticore found that he was inside a vast empty chamber. It had appeared much smaller from the outside. Once his eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, the Sith Master saw what looked like runes written on the floor. Some of them followed concentric circles, others were inscribed in diagonal lines, and so on. There was even writting on the walls.

It was then that Manticore noticed that the room was round, which caused him to look up. The ceiling was comprised of a large dome, with more sigils and runic writing. At the center of the dome, there was a smaller inverted dome like structure. At once Manitcore felt the pulse of the darkside coming from it, which prompted him to carefully reach out with the force. As his conciousness touched the small dome, he realized what it was. It was a Sith holocron within an Orb.

Almost as if he'd flipped a switch to the "on" position, darkside energy caused the orb to glow and the holocron inside it to respond. The runes inscribed within the room also glowed faintly, and before he knew it, the Sith Master was re-living his last battle.

The experience was as intense and almost as fatal as it had been a few weeks ago when he'd been ambushed by a swoop gang on a mission to Nar Shaddaa. Thankfully, the outcome remained unchanged. Manticore did notice that the injuries he'd sustained were nowhere as serious as the ones he'd suffered in that mission, however, these were real enough, though much diminished.

A triumphant grin suddenly decorated the blood red zabrak's face as an idea came to mind. But first, he'd have to test his theory.

The next day, Lord Manticore returned to this very chamber, and instead of fighthing off a swoop gang, he encountered his old Master. Lord Anguish. Once again, Manticore defeated his Master in ritual combat. He was exhausted at the end of it, but happy. He'd purposefully come thinking of facing his old master, and so he did. His theory was proven to be correct.

Through a mixture of Sith Magic and the Sith Holocron, the chamber was not only able to recreate a combat environment, but also completely immerse the subject into one. Lord Manticore was overjoyed at this find. He did not know the original purpose for the chamber, but for him, it was the perfect virtual combat arena. Using his force powers did not seem to disturb the chamber itself, though any injuries he received were felt quite acutely. He wasn't sure if he was capable of dying here, but reasoned that the best way to find out was simply NOT to die.

Armed with this bit of knowledge at his new discovery, Lord Manticore took several weeks to build his training Dojo within these chamber. Once suitable equipped, he had every intention to share his discovery with his fellow sith.

Welcome to Lord Manticore's Dojo.

This is a place were any combat scenario can happen in a virtual setting. From one on one duels to small skirmishes and encounters. Anyone can use the dojo at anytime. The leading purpose for this training dojo is to incorporate the use of Force Powers in a realistic manner during combat situations, and although death and permanent injury may or may not be an issue....do not be surprised if it does occur at some point.

For those of you who already have characters with Force powers, those will be honored in full. Characters with no Force allocations will be restricted to the basic abilities listed below:

Force Push: level 1

Force Pull: Level 1

Force Speed: Level 1

Force Jump: Level 1

Reflex: Level 1

Sense: Level 1

The score rating and descriptions will be according to the Sith Trials Force system.

This game will be run in an RPG format, so do post in character. That being said, you will post actions ONLY for your character and NOT for your opponent, even if it is an NPC.

Ktala and myself will be GMing this thread, however, any member of the Sith Council has the ability to arbitrate or cast a judgement in this game at any time.

Combat scenarios will be started and controlled by the GM team, however, if you have any interesting ideas, please PM either me or Ktala for approval.

NO Player vs Player Duels will be allowed here. This is a training arena.

That being said, those interested in participating feel free to post your name, indicate if you have force powers already allocated ( Yes or No ) and if there's a particular scene you'd like to run. Otherwise, it will be left to the GM's discretion.

Last but not least.....let's have fun!!

P.S. NO JEDI ALLOWED!

Very exciting prospect you have here Lord Manticore. The opportunity to hone my rping and dueling skills, especially under the watchful eyes of you and Ktala, is one I cannot let slip away.

I have no force powers allocated, as I am but a minion in the AoD at this point. So I guess I get the basic powers listed above. I will be posting under the character name of Darth Sadist.

Also, would you like a character sheet made so you will get a better sense of my character?

IC: Xan

A strange tingle ran up Xan's spine as she approached the archway that led into Lord Manticore's Dojo. The dark side was strong in this place - Xan might be new to the Force, still an apprentice, but even her fledgling senses could detect it. It was powerful, forbidding ... almost intoxicating.

Lord Manticore was one of the masters of the Sith Order. Not her Master - she was apprenticed to Darth Nemisis - but a master, and an exceedingly powerful one at that. Rumour had it that he had defeated his own Master in single combat. So when Xan heard Lord Manticore had built a training dojo and would be accepting students, she recognised it as an opportunity not to be missed. That was why she was here, on her own initiative: to learn from the Master of combat.

The young Sith Apprentice paused beneath the archway, her eyes flickering warily over the insides of the chamber. Caution and patience were one of the first lessons she had learnt as a Sith; the second was that it was not wise to invade the space of a Sith Master with impunity.

Lord Manticore's Dojo

The Sith Master sat in lotus position on a mat in near darkness. His eyes were closed and his breathing even. The sith runes inscribed throughout the dojo as well as the holocron lodged high upon the domed ceiling, pulsed lightly in time with his breathing, bathing the entire chamber in a soft and eerie glow.

The Darkside was strong within the chamber, palbably strong. He could almost reach out and grab a fistful of darkness. That very imagery brought a faint and evanescent smile to the zabrak's face. The darkside would draw the strong and weed out the weak. There would be a culling and this dojo would play a part in it.

It was not long before Lord Manticore sensed a figure approaching the chamber. The Sith Master slowly inclined his head, eyes still close as he probed for a bit more. There. He could feel a mixture of curiosity and ambition thrown in with a good dose of caution and respect...and above all patience. This made him smile in good natured amusement. This one had potential. Ever so slowly, the blood red zabrak opened his fiery eyes and allowed them to adjust to the dim lighting before looking to the archway.

It was there that he saw the outlined silhouette of a young sith. One he recognized as the Dark Lord's own apprentice.

Xan.

Lord Manticore smiled in silence and waited a moment. Then the smile broadened.

Good. Very good. Xan was in control of her urges. He could feel her eagerness to come in, but she was astute and in control of herself and would not enter the chamber uninvited. Lord Nemisis had certainly chosen his apprentice well. Yes, even though it was still too early to tell, it did seem that Xan would do very well in here. After all, Martial Discipline started in the mind.

"You may enter..."

Lord Manticore's rasp was no more than a mere whisper, but Xan would hear it as if he'd spoken it aloud.

The Sith Master remained seated and waited for the Dark Lord's apprentice to approach and speak her mind. The blood red zabrak's fiery gaze fell upon her as he silently watched her, appraising her every move.

The Dojo

At first Xan thought the chamber was empty. As her eyes adjusted to the dim lighting within, though, she could see a dark figure sitting in the centre of the room - Lord Manticore himself, watching her out of fiery eyes that glinted even in the darkness. Xan got the distinct impression that she was being evaluated; that she was already, in a way, being tested even before she stepped foot in the dojo.

For a moment neither of them moved. The Sith Apprentice held her ground, meeting Manticore's gaze not with challenge or defiance - or fear - but with a kind of even confidence. What does he see? Xan wondered. Perhaps more importantly - what was he looking for?

Finally the Zabrak Sith spoke, his voice barely above a raspy whisper. "You may enter..."

Permission having been given, Xan did not hesitate. She stepped into the chamber. The darkness within enveloped her like a fog ... only while fog dulled the senses, the darkness intensified them. There was power here - Xan's eyes flickered around as she walked, taking in the runes inscribed around the circular chamber, the domed ceiling. Did Manticore really build all this? She thought not; while he'd most definitely put some touches on it, like the mat, the room had a positively ancient feel to it.

Xan came to a halt in front of Lord Manticore. She was suddenly uncertain: what was the protocol here? So long as she was respectful, her Master never cared much for "bowing and scraping" as he'd once termed it. Perhaps the Zabrak Sith would be the same way. In any case, he would be able to sense her intent clearly enough.

So the Sith Apprentice knelt on one knee. Since he was sitting down, this put them at eye level, or near enough to make no difference. "Lord Manticore," she murmured. "I am here to learn."

The Sith Master's fiery gaze never left Xan, even as she knelt respectfully before him. It was evident to Lord Manticore that Xan understood a great many things about Sith society. Respect. Power. Weakness. Both actual and perceived. Yes, this one would go far.

"Lord Manticore..." Xan murmured. "I am here to learn."

The Blood Red Zabrak held back a smile. The Dark Lord's Apprentice voice was even and certain. She'd meant exactly what she said.

"Rise, Apprentice Xan." rasped Lord Manticore, even as he himself rose and stood. He waited until Xan had done the same before speaking again. Around them, the eerie orange glow pulsed with greater intensity. An ominous feeling was felt in the currents of the darkside.

"I have no doubt that you will learn..." he said to her, leaving the vague implications in his tone for her imagination to toy with. Prehaps if Xan looked closely, she'd see just a hint of Manticore's trademark predatory smile peeking through.

With fiery eyes still affixed upon her, the Sith Master continued.

"There is someone I'd like you to meet...."

The darkside in the room began to swirl around them. The inverted holocron within the domed ceiling began to emit a continuous glow, and the Sith Master continued to hold Xan's gaze. His expression remained almost impassive as the *snap-hiss* of an igniting lightsaber echoed through the chamber. The humming sound of the weapon in motion followed soon after. It sounded extremely, close. At attack range if one was paying attention.

"....This is....Rosh Penin: Darkside Apprentice."

From behind Xan, a swinging red lightsaber blade came humming down over Xan's right shoulder. The diagonal strike was delivered with the intention to bisect her from shoulder to opposing hip, an attack delivered by a cloaked figure. And still, Lord Manticore simply stood, watching. That faint smile finally surfaced, and his eyes seemed to be ablaze with fire.

In Lord Manticore's Dojo

Xan rose as instructed, keeping her gaze on Lord Manticore. His fiery orange eyes chilling and faintly intimidating, but Xan fought down that feeling ... she would not allow herself to be cowed. It didn't help that the Zabrak Sith Master towered over her slight form - and that when they rose, an eerie orange glow seemed to pulse from the ceiling. Warily, Xan glanced upwards. There was a smaller inverted dome inset in the centre of the ceiling...

"I have no doubt that you will learn..." Manticore said, his raspy voice trailing off. Xan's gaze snapped back to the Sith Master's face. Learn what? His expression was still as unreadable as it had been from the start, but Xan was quite sure she didn't like the tone of that. It heralded nothing good.

But then again, good was not why she was here.

"There is someone I'd like you to meet," he continued.

snap-hiss thrumm

Xan went completely still.

"....This is....Rosh Penin: Darkside Apprentice."

The Force flared in warning. Almost without thinking, Xan spun, both her lightsabers in hand and ignited - she did not recall drawing them - and her right saber came up just in time to block the downward strike. The impact sent a shock up her arm.

Oh, it was on.

Xan didn't stop to question where Rosh Penin had come from. There would be time enough for that after she won - or she would lose and be beyond caring, for on Ziost, you triumphed or perished. So the Sith Apprentice stepped into the attack: she followed through with her block to sweep Rosh Penin's saber out of the way, and counterattacked with a left-handed thrust at his midsection.

Xan vs. Rosh

The battle had begun quite suddenly, as it was intended, and with a good deal of intensity.

The stealthy downward strike was intercepted by a quick acting and alert Xan. She would not be caught unawares, at least not so easily.

Rosh's downward strike was blocked, swept aside and quickly countered by Xan with a left handed thrust at the Dark Apprentice's midsection. Thrown partially off-balance by Xan's parry and by his own initial eagerness, Rosh barely managed to twist his body in time to avoid being skewerd by Xan's lightsaber blade. Rosh yelled out as he suffered a lightsaber burn to his side!

He did manage a sufficiently quick recovery as he frantically swept his lightsaber defensively in hopes to ward-off any follow-up attacks. With his free hand he quickly patted down and snuffed out the burning cloth off his dark colored tunic and then held his hand in place, as if to cool off the burn.

"Sith spit!! you burned me!!" he accused his opponent with an incredulous expression etched upon his face. However, the shock of it passed quickly.

"Alright, alright, so you wanna do this the hard way, huh? I was gonna go easy on you cuz you're a girl and all, but now you only got yourself to blame...hehehehe."

Rosh pulled down the hood of his tunic to reveal the freckled face youth that he was. His hair was dark and short, but styled in the unkempt spiky fashion that was popular with the youth of the trendier high population planets. He looked upon Xan with wild grey eyes as he chuckled, then pursed his lips slightly.

"Seriously. You're so not ready for me...."

Rosh took his lightsaber in both his hands and came at Xan then. He was well aware that she was employing two lightsabers to his single one, so he made adjustments. Making what seemed like a rush attack straight at his enemy, Rosh pivoted hard to his left at the last moment, slicing an arc with his lightsaber as he turned. His intention was to confound Xan with the feint rush attack and catch her unawares as he did a pivoting slash. If the slash did not catch her out-right, he was confident it might deflect any attack she might throw his way.

Rosh ended his rotation with a wide mid-level sweeping slash, just for good measure, which was punctuated by a self congratulating chuckle.

Sorry for the long delay in getting this up, work has been kicking my arse lately, and probably will be until Memorial Day is over.

Here is a basic character sheet for my character, which by the way will be named Darth Paragon instead. It is a character that I have been working on, and I really want help in getting the persona and emotion right so I figured I would do it here if that is OK.

Name: Har Megiddo
Alias: Darth Paragon
Race: Bpfasshi
Homeworld: Bpfassh
Skin: Ashey-hued
Height: 6'1
Weight: 192
Age: 22
Hair: White. Hair is long, white and straight. It extends to just past his shoulders. He also has a goatee (no mustache) which is also white in color, it extends 3-4 inches and is groomed to end in a point.
Clothing: Simple black robes with a hood. The robes can be removed, underneath is worn black pants and a black sleeveless shirt with a low v-neck collar.

Weapons: 2 lightsabers, both red bladed. Hilt is black with platinum trim around the front and back ends.

Force Powers: Generic force powers as listed above, level 1.

Personality: Calculating and cautious, prefers stealth and cunning over brute force or aggressive tactics. That being said he will not back down from a fight, and when engaging in one loves to not only defeat his opponent...but humiliate them.

His noble bloodline, or rather his claims of links to a noble line as it is yet to be proven, has none the less bred the belief that..."a man's word is his bond".

Whatever action he takes, no matter how misguided or delusional, he feels is completely justified. In Darth Paragon's mind he is the most honorable man in the galaxy, and all slights against him must eventually be righted.

Darth Paragon's greatest weakness is his ego, though he doesn't see it as one, regardless it sometimes causes him to underestimate his rivals.....and overestimate his own ability.

When dealing with others he often looks down on those he feels are beneath him, and will at times completely ignore them unless he needs their assistance.

Background: Har is the grandson of a Dark Jedi who was killed in the uprising on Bpfassh by a Jedi led task force led by Yoda. Having grown up hearing stories about his Grandfather and the Jedi assault from his Father, Har never saw any other future for himself but to become trained in the use of the Force....and eventually taking vengence on the Jedi for the offense.

At about his 17th year Har left Bpfassh to find his own path, though he had basic training in the use of the Dark Side he knew this would not be enough. Years later a Sith Master found him and realizing his passion for vengence and his potential took him to be formally trained as a Sith, though his training is still in the initial stages he has learned much and is eager to absorb all that can be taught.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

Xan's efforts were rewarded by a yell of pain from her opponent. "Sith spit!! you burned me!!" Rosh accused, twisting out of the way just in time and frantically patting down his singed tunic. Xan just grinned; clearly, he had not been expecting an alert opponent.

"Alright, alright, so you wanna do this the hard way, huh?" he said. "I was gonna go easy on you cuz you're a girl and all, but now you only got yourself to blame...hehehehe."

Xan's grin disappeared. If he thought she was somehow less capable on account of gender -

Rosh pulled down the hood of his tunic to reveal a startlingly youthful face framed by short, spiky dark hair. He had the gall to chuckle, looking at Xan out of wild grey eyes. "Seriously. You're so not ready for me...."

"Oh, really?" Xan muttered darkly. Trash-talking little -

Less talk, more action. Rosh attacked again, rushing straight at Xan with his lightsaber held in a double-handed grip. Xan's eyes narrowed as she flicked her right sabre up to block the blow at high guard - there was something not right about his stance - there. At the last moment, Rosh pivoted hard to his left, turning his head-on attack to a left-to-right slash. This time it was Xan's turn to be caught semi-unaware: her left-handed block was clumsy as she half-hopped, half-sidestepped out of the way.

Again Rosh let out an annoying, self-congratulatory chuckle. Xan saw red.

He followed up with a wide mid-level sweeping slash, which Xan parried up easily. With her other sabre, she aimed a vicious uppercut at his head, aiming to wipe that smirk off his face - literally.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

Rosh was rather pleased with himself when his pivoting attack had almost caught Xan by surprise and forced her to mount a hasty defense. Her left-handed block was clumsy as she half-hopped, half-sidestepped out of the way. Rosh was so certain that his follow-up mid-slash would catch her that he savoured the moment before it even happened.

He certainly was not expecting her to parry his attack, which did surprise him. Hence, he was barely ready for what followed next.

For a millisecond, he almost did not believe the warning buzzer going off inside his own head! how could he be in danger? then he 'saw' the action as it was happening...which would have been a moment too late if not for the darkside of the Force. With urgent desperation, Rosh's force reflexes flared within him as a vicious uppercut slash came at his face. The Darkside Apprentice threw his body into a left twisting rotarion as he spun left and back....and hopefully out of the way. But did he manage it in time?

Rosh landed awkwardly. almost on his knees. His lightsaber hand propped him up from the floor while his free hand shook as it covered his face. There was a low moan that escaped his lips before it was followed by a piercing scream.

At first it was all unintellegible.

"YAAAAAHHHHRGGHHHH!! AAHHHHYAAAAHHSS!! MY FAAAAAACEEE!!! MY FAAACCCEEE!!"

Rosh's head turned towards Xan, though most of his face was currently covered by his hand. He was glaring at her with one tearing grey eye, peering between splayed fingers. He was tremblening with so much fury.

"YOU ##@@$%%%&!!*, you @!**%$$##!!

Of course Xan had heard much worse, but these were some vicious explatives, even for Rosh.

The smell of burnt flesh wafted in the air as Rosh finally removed his hand from his face. There was a neatly traced lightsaber burn between his left eye and his nose. The fine mark traced a path from just the upper left cheek, right under the tear duct, up and across the nose bridge and ended just above the right eyebrow. No doubt Xan meant to do more than just mark him in that manner, but the results spoke for themselves. It drove her point home.

The Dark Lord's Apprentice was not to be trifled with.

"I'll Kill YOU!! I'LL KILL YOUUUUUU!!"

Rosh yelled at the top of his lungs and his face contorted with anger. Darkside energies swirld around him, even as his left eye began to close from the wound. Tears of pain were mixing now with tears of rage. His once grey eyes now seemed to be tinged with an eerie red glow, even as he exploded into action.

Reacting with explosive speed, Rosh gestured with his free hand and sent a powerful wave of Force energy towards Xan. He'd opened his current gambit with Force Push; his intention was to completely bowl her over and knock her down where she stood. Even as he finished releasing his ranged attack, Rosh was on his feet and dashing at Xan with Force Speed. His red lightsaber was already in striking motion at his target as he zoomed in to deliver a blow that would remove Xan's left arm at the elbow.

No, there would be no more witty repartee from Rosh. At least not at the moment. His overconfidence had been dashed to pieces and his pride wounded. All that was left now was the anger he masked with jokes, bared raw and naked for all to see. And now he aimed to return the favour...and collect on the interest.

Xan's lip curled into a sneer. Rosh had been just barely too slow, and Xan's blade had traced a shallow burn across his face - barely anything, really, but apparently the Dark Apprentice took his pretty boy image seriously.

"I'll Kill YOU!! I'LL KILL YOUUUUUU!!" Rosh shouted at the top of his lungs, gesturing sharply with his left hand. Xan had a fleeting thought that perhaps enraging her opponent hadn't been such a good idea when abruptly she was hit by a powerful wave of Force energy - strong enough to bowl her over completely. Rosh charged, lightsaber swinging, attempting to capitalize on Xan being off-balance.

But she was no longer there. Rather than resist Xan turned the telekinetic shove into a backwards roll, and just in time - his blade sliced through her left sleeve as she spun through the air, singing the skin off her upper arm. Xan bit back a yelp of pain.

She hit the ground a couple of metres back from her original position and scrambled to her feet. Now she stood diagonally facing Rosh, right side leading, holding both sabres at ready in front of her. Tactics: anticipating that Rosh, spurred on by anger, would press the attack, Xan prepared herself to defend rather than mount an attack of her own. She would meet his offensive - and then counterattack.

Rosh saw his opponent topple over from the sheer force of his ranged attack. The sudden Force Push he'd used against the Dark Lord's apprentice had caught the little minx by surprise, and now it was time to finishe her off.

Exploding once again into action, the Darkside Apprentice was now propelled by Force Speed as he covered the distance between himself and his target in a blink of an eye. Rosh swung his lightsaber with all his might, filled with hatred in his heart as he tasted the moment. He wanted to cut his opponent to pieces! starting with an arm. Rosh's lighsaber hummed maliciously as it streaked through the air, slicing a deadly red ribbon of light. His weapon completed it's attack arc, but there was no severed arm to be seen.

Rosh's initial surprised turned into abject fury as he realized what had happened. Xan had travelled with his ranged attack and rolled backwards, spinning through the air as he swung at her.

"!!@@##$*!!"

She robbed him of his moment. The only evidence of his attack was a split in her sleeve. Rosh's anger doubled. He would not be denied this victory. The Darkside Apprentice's eyes seemed to glow like red pools of light, veins were visible in his face as he came at Xan yet again. Still empowered with speed and anger for strength, Rosh immediately pressed on his attack. He was not about to let her rest.

However, Xan was not necessarily standing still either.

Xan hit the ground a couple of metres back from her original position and scrambled to her feet. Now she stood diagonally facing Rosh, right side leading, holding both sabres at ready in front of her. And Rosh was right there in her face, swinging his lightsaber with fury.

The Darkside Apprentice performed a vicious close range figure eight attack, slashing diagonally up, from lower left to upper right, then again, from lower right to upper left. His two handed attack was fast, powerful and near flawless in execution, his footwork sure and steady. Whatever one handed defenses his opponent might throw were sure to be breached, throwing her off-balance once again, and leaving her vulnerable for the coup de grace.

This was an encounter the Darkside Apprentice would not lose! Of that he was certain.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs Rosh

Time seemed to slow. The Force surged through Xan as scrambled to her feet, and she sensed that Rosh was about to charge her again - just as she had expected. Foolish, the Dark Lord's Apprentice thought clinically. Predictability was always a losing strategy.

Curiously, Xan was feeling perfectly calm. It was as if her anger at Rosh and his taunting had crystallized into a lens of icy clarity, focused all the more by the painful burn on her left arm. It surged through her, opening her to the dark side as never before - and through that clarity she felt - almost at the brink of some new understanding of - what?

Almost, but not quite.

At the moment, it was sufficient that the Force and Rosh's stance told her what would happen next: a double-handed uppercut, with all of Rosh's weight behind it. If she blocked, she was bound to fail - so she parried again, using her right sabre to redirect his blade upwards. Unperturbed, Rosh followed up by whipping his lightsaber around and up again, in a deadly parody of an infinite loop.

And this time, Xan stepped into the attack, effectively reversing her stance to lead with her left. She flicked her left wrist so the sabre's tip pointed down at the floor, and blocked his slash just as he began swinging it upwards. At the same time, not waiting to see if her block succeeded, she thrust forward sharply with her right, straight at his heart.

She was gambling that meeting his double-handed blow with only one of her own would be sufficient if he hadn't had the chance to build up momentum - in her limited experience, dual-sabre fighting was a style that tended to emphasise flexibility and speed at the cost of strength, making it less than ideal to meet head-on attacks like those Rosh were employing, but one made do with the tools at hand.

Hope it's (a) clear what I'm trying to do here, and (b) not godmoding. Feel free to lay the smackdown if it is, etc. :p

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

The battle between the two apprentices continued, still intense and deadly. The first portion of Rosh's figure eight attack had been successfully parried by Xan, yet Rosh continued his attack, undaunted. As the second swing began it's arc, Xan reversed her grip on her left lightsaber so the tip pointed downward and effected an intercepting block before Rosh's two handed strike gained sufficient momentum to become unblockable. Though Xan's one handed block was not enough to trap Rosh's two-handed swing, the interception occured at an early enough point to jam the upward swing. By now Xan was already thrusting straight for Rosh's heart, but Rosh's Force enhanced reflexes were granting him a slight advantage in such close proximity.

Rosh twisted away from the linear attack, simultaneously slamming Xan's left shoulder with his right...and HARD! He put enough speed and force into blow for her to lose her footing. Xan's forward thrust managed to pierced only the sleeve of Rosh's left arm as she was thrown off-balance , just narrowly missing his bicep, but coming nowehere close to his heart.

Not wasting any time, the still enraged Darkside Apprentice made no comment, but pivoted to one side, cleverly trying to position himself in his opponet's blindside. Barely in position and eager to end their date, Rosh completed the pivoting rotation with a downward slash meant to catch Xan at the base of her neck.

Striking from this position, there was no way she could suddenly whip up one of her pesky lightsabers to block or deflect, nor could she dodge in time....could she? certainly he had her dead to rights! and he very much wanted her dead. Only then would The Dark Lord truly see that Rosh was the one worthy to be his one and true apprentice.

Darth Shadow

A pair of eyes, that looked as if they breathed red fire appeared from within the deep shadows of the outer corner of the room. Nim, had been seeking out a new place that she could build a forge. A place, that she could continue her dark studies into the alchemy wonders that were of the Sith, when the sounds of combat drew her attentions.

She had heard that the Zabrak she had fought eariler, had founded himself a place for those who wished to sharpen their combat skills. It was also a good place, to try out new weapons, a thought that brought a smile to Nim's face. Even more so, were the runes that covered the place. Runes, some of which Nim knew, others, she could study. Yes, quite useful indeed. Her crystals reacted to the place within, and she knew that it was indeed ancient Sith magics that allowed this place to work. Perfect.

But now, she was drawn to the sounds of battle. A new Sith, Xan was busy in training. Far to the side, Lord Manticore seemed to be intently watching. Nim's ears flickered slightly, as the being that Xan was facing suddenly shrieked out a challenge, and ran at her. Indeed, the battle was getting interesting to watch. Nim moved over a few steps, and continued to watch silently, as the battle came to an interesting climax....

Lord Manticore's Dojo: (supplemental)

Although focused on the duel between the two apprentices, Xan and Rosh, the blood red zabrak was not unawares of his surroundings. In fact, within this chamber, he found himself to be hyper-aware.

Lord Manticore took a brief moment to acknowledge the presence of Darth Shadow, who was more than aptly named. After their duel he had researched 'her' species, and with that knowledge came understanding. The Sith Master inclined his head in a curt and respectful nod. His fiery eyes met her pools of red for a brief moment before he returned his attention to the battle at hand.

Nim, as Darth Shadow was also known, had earned Lord Manticore's respect. She was a cunning and capable combatant, as well as a Master crafter of weapons. The blood red zabrak made a quick mental note concerning that fact, later to be revisited. Unsurprisingly, he'd also like to duel her here, but such indulgences were to be entratained at a different time. At the moment, it seemed that Rosh was eager to terminate his brief relationship with the Dark Lord's apprentice.

The Sith Master was more than interested in seeing how Xan would react to her opponent's fatalistic proposition.

Darth Shadow

As Nim sanced the area, she noted that indeed, Lord Manticore took a brief moment to acknowledge her presence. The Sith Master inclined his head in a curt and respectful nod. His fiery eyes met her pools of red for a brief moment before he returned his attention to the battle at hand. And in that breif moment, she had acknowledged him as well.

Her eyes then turned back to the training scenario that was now before her. The Sith Xan was busy battling, and had been put into quite a position indeed. Nim leaned back against a wall, intently watching the movements now. She wondered how the room would handle her little toy. She let her fingers play against her weapon.

Perhaps a bit later, she would find out. But now, she was content to stand and watch.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

Unexpectedly, Rosh lunged forward, slamming his left shoulder into Xan's left. Xan staggered back, momentarily off-balance, her lightsaber merely having scored through Rosh's sleeve rather than going through his heart as she had planned. Rosh wasted no time in pressing the attack once again: he pivoted sharply to one side, slashing downwards at Xan's neck, clearly intending to capitalize on her being off-balance.

Xan would have been impressed, were she an observer and not on the receiving end of such a move.

But he too was barely in position to attack. For a split second, their gazes met. Xan narrowed her eyes - and in that instant she summoned the Force, slamming him with as much strength as she could muster. Her intention was not to shove him away, though, or even to stop him, but to slow him down. And in the fraction of a second that it bought her, she flicked both her lightsabers up to form an X and caught his slash at the intersection between the blades.

Not wasting any time, Xan lashed out with one foot, aiming at Rosh's left knee - although she would be just as happy to impact any portion of his legs. Xan was beginning to realize that letting Rosh go on the offensive was a losing strategy - he would simply hammer away at her defenses until she slipped up, and eventually, she would. Best to not let that go on.

Lord manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

He was so sure this time, so certain that his opponent would fall by his hand. He had anger, strength and speed, and yet, somehow, the Dark Lord's apprentice kept stealing his victory from him. Up until now, Xan had not called upon the Force for assisstance. Rosh had every intention to exploit that fact....until now.

His opponet was off-balance and defenseless....no, that wasn't quite right, was it?

In an instant, Xan summoned the Force, slamming Rosh with as much strength as she could muster. Her intention was not to shove him away, though, or even to stop him, but to slow him down. And indeed, Rosh was slowed....considerably so. His eyes went wide in surprise as he was blasted with Xan's force attack, as it mussed his hair and caused his robes to snap behind him, as if caught by a fierce and unexpected wind blast. He was stalled in mid-strike for a heartbeat, but to him, it seemed like an eternity. And in the fraction of a second that it bought her, Xan flicked both her lightsabers up to form an X and caught his slash at the intersection between the blades.

Even Rosh was astonished as he beheld their sparking lightsabers in utter disbelief!

Not wasting any time, Xan lashed out with one foot, aiming at Rosh's left knee - although she would be just as happy to impact any portion of his leg. But her aim was true. Xan's strike to Rosh's knee caused him to yelp in pain as he suddenly found himself toppling to one side, his leg no longer able to support his weight or stance. A desperate look came over the darksider's face as he realized how much trouble he was suddenly in. He couldn't farthom the turn of events.

Rosh disengaged and quickly rolled backwards, then righted himself while down on one knee and warded off any possible attacks with a figure eight flurry. His red lightsaber buzzed angrily before him as he tried to recover from his abject loss of advantage.

Meanwhile....

Darth Shadow watched the spectacle some distance away. Above her, the holocron pulsed and several bands of runic writing glowed in response. Nim leaned back against a wall, intently watching the combatants. She wondered how the room would handle her little toy. She let her fingers play against her weapon.

A mere moment later, a voice rang from the darkness close to her.

"Yes, it does indeed look like a finely crafted weapon, unlike may hastily crafted one."

The speaker was a female in dark jedi clothing. The upper half of her face was covered with a maroon colored tatoo, which patterns were repeated as bands around her upper arms. Her dark hair was pinned back and held in place by exotic feather-like accessories. Her dark eyes regarded Nim with intense curiosity as she pointed with her chin towards the two combatants doing battle in the room.

"I guess that's what you get when using poor materials..." she half shrugged before adding; "...like a jedi."

The famale sneered contemptuously as her eyes sparkled with a malicious glint.

"I must say, I am rather fond of new weapons....and such."

Tavion's hand slowly fell to her side, where her lightsaber dangled gingerly. Her gazed traced Nim's weapon, before finally locking stares with the red pools of Nim's eyes.

"Not to worry...I'll take good care of it." she said, her tone dangerous, yet amused. The implication that she meant to take Nim's weapon was quite clear, and if not, then that fact would become apparent....very soon.

Lord Manticore's Dojo: Xan vs. Rosh

As Rosh quickly rolled backwards, toppling to one side as his left knee suddenly could not support his weight, it occurred to Xan that the only way Rosh had been able to disengage his sabre from her crossed blades was upwards. If she had waited a bit instead of extending herself in a kick, she might've been able to take advantage of that to great effect.

Something to remember for next time.

Rosh went down on one knee, lightsaber weaving defensively in front of him. Xan wasted no time in pressing the attack, slashing down with her left, right, left again, right again - and then just as quickly reversed her right sabre and swung it back in a vicious uppercut. The idea was to present a pattern for Rosh to pick up on, and then break it.
