Askiral is filled with many different races. These races (excluding the Wraiths), makes up the 'Great Races' created by the god Cedor. You may choose any one of them for your character. You can also create a new race, but you must submit the request to a staff member and we will consider it. No guarantees though.

Humans: Humans is the dominant race on Askiral, making up just under half of the population. They are a proud and reckless race, always trying to prove that they are better than others. They are extremely materialistic, and many cities and towns have sprung up by trading routes. They are also very militaristic, having the largest military on the continent and fighting amongst each other. Humans have the ability to cast magic but it requires training and consumes a lot of energy. Humans are very smart and often like to experiment with things. They are also the best explorers. Humans are of the Great Races.

Reference Picture: None, I think we all know what a human looks like.

Etheril: Etheril are the descendant of elves, a long extinct race. They are very similar to elves, for they are tall, lean, with pointy ears and pale skin. However they are not immortal, with the oldest Etheril living up to 500 years. Also, they tend to have more strength and be quicker than their ancestors, which make them more adept to fighting. Within Etheril blood is the increased ability to cast spells and other magical enchantments. Etherils are extremely proud and protective, and doesn’t like visitors into their home, the Dawnbreak Forest. Etheril is one of the Great Races.

Reference Picture: None, just imagine an elf.

Untamed: The Untamed is the third of the Great Races. They are divided into four categories of people -

Nactls: Nactls are the proud lion people that inhabit the northern part of Dawnbreak Forest and the lower portion of Stonehammer Peaks. The Nactls are big and extremely powerful, but they lack magic among them. Though Nactl shamans are capable of casting magic, their spells are weak. Their keen sense of sight and smell makes them excellent trackers and hunters, but they rarely leave their homeland. As far as physical appearance go, male Nactls have greater manes, while females do not posses any mane, although both are equally powerful their morals are fair, though the lions are known to be very noble at times, even going out of their way to protect lesser clans. The elders are wise, and the leaders often take what they have to say into considerations, though it is the strongest male who usually leads the separate clans. They are one of the four races that make up the Untamed race and can transform into a lion.

Nekko: The Nekko is the cat people, also a race of the Untamed. They are the smallest out of the Untamed divisions, often praised for their ability to quickly maneuver around and escape danger. They are weak physically, as their sharp claws do not do much damage. But they make up for this with their speed and their unique form of magic, which normally involves lightning and wind. Nekkos are very social and they have formed bonds with other Untamed clans. In times of war, these people tend to stay neutral, though a few may fight for the cause they support. Nekkos are very much like humans, except that they have cat ears and tails in their humanoid form. A few have developed a strange mutation, even when they are in humanoid form; they still resemble cats, (they are covered with fur and looks nothing like a human). These mutants look similar to wolves, and whether or not they are their separate race is hotly debated. Both can transform into a cat.

Reference Picture: None, imagine a human with cat ears and tail.

Varg: The Vargs is the third Untamed race, and the most feared. They are nomadic, tribal, and extremely ferocious, killing their enemies with little mercy. Most of the time, the Vargs does not leave their territory, the Great Barrier Desert but many hire the Vargs as mercenaries to fight. They are extremely proud and have high moral values, the complete opposite of the Kitsunes. Vargs depend on their claws and fangs in combat, but they can forge powerful curved blades and can use wind magic. They are extremely powerful and fast, but lack magical skills. In their humanoid forms, Vargs still resembles dogs, as they possess large ears, snouts, sharp fangs, claws, and fur. It is not easy to tell a male Varg from a female Varg, but their voice tells the difference. These “dog” people are cruel and cold towards trespasser into their territories but are kind and loyal to friends, family, and allies.

Reference Picture: Varg

Kitsunes: The cunning and sneaky Kitsunes are the fourth and the last of the Untamed race. The Kitsunes hold a deep grudge for all other races, especially the humans, since they believe that humans are invading their lands. These foxes are physically weak but are extremely fast and smart. Most foxes would rather talk their way out of fighting and playing tricks rather than engaging in combat. Small and lithe, the foxes study the art of some magic-- it is most spiritual and healing magic, however. Also, the Kitsunes are excellent craftsmen, able to create intricate and protective armor. For the foxes, the older they are, the more tails they sprout-- the eldest known one has nine tails! Many foxes are employed as spies, assassins, and thieves.

Taurens: Taurens are ox people, much like Minotaurs, except that they are built more like humans and are larger, not to mention twice as strong. Taurens are extremely territorial, holding onto their hunting grounds within the Stonehammer Peaks, opening only one city, Stonehold to outsiders. Taurens are expert hunters, using kodos and tigers help them track, but they are also miners, mining away in the mountains and selling their goods to travelers and merchants. Though Taurens like to keep to themselves, they are friendly and helpful, but they can be aggressive when threatened.

Treefolks: Treefolk are among the oldest race on the continent, some living up to a thousand years. Treefolks wield power earth and poison magic, as well as powerful strength (since they are quite tall and big). Normally Treefolks spends their time sleeping in their tree form, but once a year, all the Treefolks, oaks, yews, willows, redwoods, etc. would gather and discuss the world around them. Treefolks are the wisest race and their sages contain more knowledge on the world than the greatest libraries. They are not a violent race and do not take part in battles, though a few young trees might aid their Etheril allies. Treefolks lives in both the Dawnbreak and the Aragon Forest. The oldest tree is a 2,500 year old redwood.

Wraiths: Wraiths are the foulest race on the continent, and perhaps the world. They resemble the stock of humans, but they are not. Wraiths are neither living nor dead, and all they think about is power and conquest. There are two types of Wraiths. Please look at this article for more information.

In this world, only the strongest can survive.
