SEMI-FINAL II Saye (Balanced Empire) versus Baillie (Jubal's Desert Raiders; Dogs of War) Setup Baillie's forces were arrayed in a line along the table, Saye's general, pistoliers and huntsmen were on the setup line on his left flank, the rest of his troops sat back and corner-hugged with a hill on the right. Turn 1 BAILLIE Baillie moves fowards with most of his troops. SAYE Saye's huntsmen and pistoliers unleash a very heavy round of shooting, severely damaging a light cavalry unit. Saye's cannon has no effect. The pistoliers move up to threaten Baillie's right flank. Turn 2 BAILLIE Desert Dogs, Captain and Heavy Cav continue forwards. The galloper gun fails to make any impact on the pistoliers. SAYE The Pistoliers charge the galloper gun, and the captain mauls the remainder of the light cavalry. One remaining gun crewman survives and holds for a turn. Turn 3 BAILLIE Charges: the Desert Dogs flee after being hit by an incredibly powerful stand & shoot reaction from the crossbowmen and handgunners. The Dogs of War captain fails his charge on the crossbowmen, and is a sitting duck for further shooting. On brighter notes for the Dogs, the second light cavalry unit reaches the huntsmen and the heavy cavalry punch into the knights. The knights are destroyed, the huntsmen fortunately escape into the forest due to their skirmishing abilities. The last galloper gun crewman is killed. SAYE Saye's captain charges Bronzino and kills him in a challenge. His pistoliers run down the Desert Dogs as well before they can rally. His shooting kills the Dogs' captain as expected; his huntsmen flee off the board, but with him still holding the hill on a full complement of men and commanding the rest of the board with his pistoliers and captain the battle is essentially over. With the Captain, 1 light cav unit, the galloper gun, and the Desert Dogs lost, Baillie is defeated. SAYE WINS |
