ACES enter an Iron dog comp!; April 09

On April 18th-19th 09, S.A.C.S shall be holding the 1st annual IRON DOG Heptathlon
competition.

A weekend long of athletic events to see who is the fittest of the fit.

Will it be a Stafford, Bull Terrier, American Bulldog or will another breed
be triumphant?? Time will tell.....

The IRON DOG comp is a points system. Each dog taking 1st place will recieve
10 points, 2nd 9, 3rd 8, 4th 7, 5 th 6, 6th 5 etc. All dogs placed 10th-20th
will recieve 1 point each in all competitions.

The dogs will be tested on Endurance, Strength, Speed & Agility.

There are only 20 places available for this exciting event.

The cost of this is just £20 per dog and £20 for a 4man tent,
campervan etc, Larger tents wil be £30.

We will be needing a £20 deposit to secure your
place. All parties that are interested in taking part in this event you

Only competitors are able to camp at the venue. Spectators are welcome to
come down and watch the dogs perform.

2 per spectator, £3 per dog, Kids free

IRON DOG Rules

1) Any breed can take part

2) All dogs have to be over 12 months of age

3) 1 dog per handler for the IRON DOG comp

4) The judges have the authourity to dismiss any competitor for unsporting
conduct or arguing with the Judges. The Judges also reserve the right to dismiss
any dog they feel is injured or sick

5) No bitches in heat allowed on site

6) All dogs to be kept on leads at all times

7) A safe distance to be kept between dogs at all times

8) All dogs mess and rubbish to be placed in bins provided

9) No dogs to be left unattended

10) No minors to walk dogs

11) Please ensure your childs saftey at all times

12) Please take note of signs

13) Organisers have the right to refuse admission

Schedule of events

Friday 17th. Competitors shall be able to pitch up the night before the show.
Gates shall be open from 6pm.

Saturday 18th

9.00am Booking in. All dogs competiting shall be weighed and meausred and
given their IRON DOG number.

10.00am The IRON DOG compitition shall begin

ENDURANCE RUN

Each dog will do 2 laps of the feild (2km) on a bike
going through designated gates. All dogs shall either be held on lead or
use a "Walky dog".
The dog has to be keeping pace with the handler NO dragging. Any competitor
seen to be pulling/dragging their dog will de disqualified from the points.
Bikes will be available or you can bring your own.

A-FRAME

Each dog will have 3 turns over the A-Frame, each turn shall be 1 min. The
totals from each dog shall be added together to give a final score. The dogs
front legs have to be on the ground to register. In the event of a tie, there
shall be another turn for each dog tieing.

WEIGHTPULL SPRINT

Each dog will pull 50% of their body weight for 30 meters. We shall be using
a butt filled with either sand or water. Obviously the lightest dog will start
1st finishing with the heaviest. Dogs allowed to use either collar or harness.

WEIGHTPULL

This will be for the dog who pulls most body weight, ie 40lb dog pulls 400lb
he has pulled 10x their bodyweight. This is to be as fair to each dog taking
part. Normal weightpull rules apply. Collars allowed. Pull distance 5 meters.

Once the events are finished there shall be a free BBQ for all competitors
taking part. Bar shall be open till late.



Sunday 19th

HIGH JUMP

Each dog will have 3 attempts to take hold of the tug hanging and hold for
3 seconds. Each completion the tug shall be raised to the next height. The
height will start at 1.5 meters.

OBSTACLE COURSE

Each dog and handler will have to do various jumps and other Agility obstacles
in the quickest time. Penalties will be given for knocking off hurdles and
missing obstacles. Dogs will remain on lead for this event.

3 x 100 METER SPRINTS

Each dog shall run 100 meters x 3 and the 3 times will be added together to
give a total time.

Once all scores have been varified the IRON DOG WINNER shall be named.

The overall winner will have the dogs name engraved on the IRON DOG shield

There will be Trophies and prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

Also commenrative medals and certificates for each dog that has taken part.

I'd love kody to do it, not sure about the weight pull though?? Everything else she'd be fine with. Hmmmm need to give it some thought.

How weird, after reading this and seriously thinking about entering Kody. . . . to mix up the bull breeds a bit. . . . i get an email with a wedding enquiry for that weekend in Brighton!! Will have to see wether they book or not?

Yes indeed we ( Myself & Dave ) are going up to sunny Margate in April to take part in the Iron Dog competion. Not sure how many places are left, just glad that we managed to bag 2 :yay: Sure others will be interested in going / coming ??
