We went to Belgium last weekend for a weightpull contest with our southern neighbours.
The only Staff's present we did bring, the rest of the combatants where Pitbulls.

Joe ended placed second with a pull of 2363.45 LBS(1073 KG) and he weighed himself 42 lbs. With a bit of training next time I will try to get him at about 40 lbs and maybe even a bit stronger. Point is that we can not train this in Holland.

My bitch babs is not realy a concentrated puller, if it gets to heavy she starts to bounce. But she managed to pull a good one of 1581.5 lbs(718 kg) at 36 lbs herself. For the next time I will try to bring her to 35 lbs.

All together a great day with loads of fun. Next day we also did some sprint, tug of war and high jump. They did ok, but as this was the first time we will have to train on that.

Here two pics somebody made. Later in the week better and more pics.

Yes, but Joe is nuts, he can also do without.
Babs I do not know.

LOL, just a beginner, so don't know.

Maybe you can make something up from the results list here?

Here the results
Results

For the sprint competition mentioned here you have to run in front of your dog, and then they release them, and that time is clocked.
For the next time we will lend them our lure racing equipment, as my dogs do not go full speed with their style.

The high jumping was from standing still to a jump for a free hanging tug. Also first time for my dogs. Joe could not point that well, he was jumping almost as hight as the winner, but he did not grab the tug.
And Babs did better, but was for the later jumps out of air because it was on the middle of the day with almost 30 degrees.

Thug of war I saw a difference between the SBT's and the pits. The Staffs where working all the time very hard and wear themselves out real quick in that hot weather, while the pits(most of them) just hang in there doing most of the time nothing to safe energy.

We will train and hopefully they do even better next time. Although Babs will possibly not be there then as she will be mated in June/July somewhere.

Joe last year, he won the game there with a pull of 575 kg(1266,5 lbs) on wheels, he was himself 18,5 kg(40.75 lbs)
This was the second time he had a cart behind him(we can not practice in Holland) This last game was about the 5th time with something behind him, and first time with a rail system.

Hi Frank,

I can not make anything going by the results from one show. The only way I can try to better explain would be to put it like this, say you have 3 different sets of rails or 3 different tracks whatever, now on the first track a dog pulls 10x's its bodyweight, the second track the dog pulls 28x's its bodyweight and on the third track it pulls 50x's its bodyweight. The second track would be considered good rails, the first would be hard pulling and the third would be fast rails. Here in the US you will often see results where a dog pulled 10x's or 28x's its bodyweight at one show and magically the same dog pulled 100x's its bodyweight at a different show a week later and that is why I do not prefer to pull on rails because of so much variance. That is all I meant by asking if the rails were fast or hard pulling.

I understand, and you are right.
Only thing I can say is that the dog that won does very good in top competition trough Europe, and Joe beat him last year. But now he became second after him. These people train at least 2 times a week!
