ACES days running order

2 digitally timed runs. (100 meters for adults, 50 meters for pups & newbies)
1 group race (optional, all dogs must wear muzzles)
Weight pull simultaneously running with 1 of the following supervised activities : Vertical scale, Long jump or A-Frame competition.

Pups under 12 months old are free but are limited to what they are allowed to do, older pups can be placed in the longer runs ect if owners wish to pay the £5 fee.
Crates are useful if you have them although we do have a secure holding area for dogs that do not have them.

Well fitting collars and strong leads are a must, if you have a spare lead then bring it along, makes life easier.

Burger van with very reasonable prices and lovely food by the fabulous Kim will be in attendance for this day.

Hope you can make it...........

ACES field
A23 London bound
RH17 6BA
Mobile : 07598 523 107

Please note we are happy for people to call the ACES mobile number for extra info on the day or with help getting to the day, however if you find yourself lost its really important that you at least know where you are before we can guide you in to the field, if you dont know where you are then we have no clue how to help you find us, lol.

We will be starting as close to 10:30 as possible, lost a few hours at the end of the day now.......... :ermm:

Hope you can make the last day of the year.

ACES dinner is all that after this for 2009, all welcome if Ade can squeeze you in, please check.

Here is a littel right up from Richard Carlton he is going to be doing the display on the 14th.

What is Schutzhund ?
Schutzhund was originally started as a breeding suitability test for German Shepherd Dogs in their German homeland in the early 1900s. Basically a way to see the suitability of an individual dog to be bred from. Attributes being tested for include desire to work; courage; trainability; bond with the handler; scenting ability; agility; desire to retrieve; protective instinct; stamina; etc.
Nowadays it has also become a sport in its own right, and many of the working breeds compete worldwide including GSDs, Rottweilers, Dobermanns, Staffords, American Bulldogs, Pit Bulls, Schnauzers, Malinois, etc.
The tests are divided into three parts : Tracking, Obedience, and Protection. Each section is given equal importance, and rightly so. The tracking phase is set to test the dogs ability to follow a human track, as well as identify dropped articles. The obedience phase looks to see an accurate, animated dog under control performing different exercises including heelwork, agility and retrieving. The protection phase looks to see a courageous, motivated , confident dog carry out various chasing and biting exercises. The emphasis on this phase is on total control, matched to a powerful confident performance.
Each phase is judged out of 100 points. You start with 100 points and the judge deducts points each and every time the teams performance is not perfect. Thus a perfect total score would be 300. A total of 270 is in effect a very good score. Furthermore you must gain a minimum score in each phase to gain your qualification which can be one of three titles - Schutzhund 1, 2 or 3 - 3 being the highest level. This minimum score on each phase ensures that the drives of a dog are not out of balance. In other words a dog that loves protection work but does not have the desire to work with its handler is a liability. Or, for example, a dog that cannot track but loves the protection work will never, in real work, get the chance to find the criminal that is wants to detain. So in essence Schutzhund is not also a sport but a valid way in which to determine and maintain within a bloodline the working traits we look for in service dogs. Recently the term VPG has been adopted to describe the sport. It translates roughly as Versatility Examination For Working Dogs, and is as a result of political pressure from anti-dog lobbyists in Germany. The word Schutzhund means Protection Dog and was not deemed that politically correct.
