Hey every1! - Well 2 days ago lorna and I were walking through town and we saw a stunning female staff wandering around the streets and wandering across really busy roads, we couldn't just leave her so we called her to us and managed to get her off the roads thank god.

She was soooo hot so I ran to a shop whilst lorna stayed with her and got her a bottle of water and had to buy a pair of shoe laces to use as a lead lol. She loved the water and after she had cooled down a little we walked her to a vet so they could have a quick look at her - they said that from the looks of her teeth she is quite young and that she seemed to be in good health.

We didn't really know what to do with her so the vets said we could take her to a dog pound and they could try to re-home her or we could take her back to our house. We decided to take her back to our house and try to put some posters up to see if she is a lost dog - due to her good condition I think she may have escaped from her house.

Basically does any1 know the best way to go about our situation???? or any places we could advertise her as being a lost dog???? she is getting on sooo well with Ding and she is such a sweetie - we would love to keep her but its just a bit overwhelming at the moment tbh so we don't know what to do, so any advice is much appreciated.

Really sorry about the long post, below are some pics of the lovely girl, she is a lot smaller than Ding but she is hard as a rock lol REALLY strong and REALLY quick on her feet - definitely giving Ding a run for his money!. Omg I forgot to say, the first day we took her home n let her into our garden, she was having a sniff bout and the just jumped over our fence into next doors garden which is about a 15-16 onto foot drop onto concrete!!!! luckily she was completely fine n was just trying to jump back over into our garden but it's way too high - so I had to go next door and get her lol.

As you can see Ding is quite a lot bigger - He is about 44Lbs so i assume she is about 32 - 35Lbs but im not sure

As said earlier we really need some advice please and also if we advertise her as a lost dog and no1 gets back to us then we may need to re-home her - so if any1 is interested in giving her a loving home that would be good to hear however since she gets on with ding and seems really well natured we may end up keeping her - we just aren't sure atm. Thanks!

Oh wow shes beautiful, i would imagine shes deffo just lost especially as she jumped your fence lol
I take it the vet scanned her for a chip?
Maybe you could check dog lost and put up some posters around where you found her?

yeah she is beautiful isn't she! Vet scanned for a chip a few times but no luck :-(

A few things lead us to think shes just lost like her condition and she goes mad when were about to take her on a walk lol - but she defo has a slight fear of cars so we think she may have been hit by one.

I think we will jus have to put posters up and contact lost dog places to spread the word and then just see how it goes i guess. Thanks

You need to inform the local dog warden so they can issue a 28 day notice which means that you keep her 28 days and then you can legally re-home her. If you do not do this then there could be problems if an owner comes forward and you have homed her. Register her on doglost.co.uk and they will put her in the dogs found section, this is the most popular lost dog site and comes up tops on google searches. Be careful putting up posters you will get every low life street scum phoning up claiming her, if someone really cares about their missing dog they will phone the local vets or the council dog warden or search the internet. Inform local rescue kennels and other nearby vets if they care about her then they will find her. What area was she found in?

Thanks for all the information - will do all of it. We were worried about putting up posters as she is very good looking and we thought lots of random people would try to claim her.

Thanks again x

What about Dogs lost???? http://www.doglost.co.uk/page.aspx?pg=72 They ask for identifying marks and stuff I believe.

Wardens, be careful, I found a STRAY ON MY GREEN 3 or 4 WEEKS BACK AND CALLED THE LOCAL WARDEN, i SAID CAN i GIVE A DESCRIPTION, THEN IF SOMEONE CONTACTS YOU THEY KNOW WHERE THE DOG IS AS IM HAPPY TO HAVE HIM HERE (sorry cap locks on grrrrr) she said no we dont do that, we will be with you within 3 hours to collect the dog, told her not to bother, I took it to my vets and luckily he was chipped, they contacted owner who collected him 5 hours later, 3 year old let it out when she let herself out to go and play in the street *bash*

Hiya. Thanks Keeley. We found her in the town centre of Swansea (wales) and we live in Sketty which is in Swansea too. We aren't members of that forum so it would be really great if you could put a post up on there! I can be contacted via this forum, on this email address lorna_1990@hotmail.co.uk and this phone number 07595973471.

Also yes we were worried about ringing the Dog Warden and them saying that they will come and get her as we are fine keeping her for a bit.

Thanks again xx

I thought maybe the posters would have been a good idea without pictures and then if she has any disguinshing marks you could quiz them over the phone. Maybe the people that have lost her will put posters up in Swansea. Good luck in your search.

She's a nice looking girl, I hope you find the owners although it baffles why people don't have their dogs microchipped. Best of luck.

We have rung those numbers and a few vets plus a few dog wardens so hopfully if her owners are looking for her then they should be able to find us easily.

Thanks again x

Ah thanks Keeley thats great. We'll keep you all updated. As said earlier we are all really falling in love with her, Ding and her are always kissing eachother lol, so if her owners don't come forward then it's just the question of feasability for us. We'll just have to wait and see for a short while. Thanks so much for all of the help! xx

Just a little update for you all - the new staffy is getting on really well! She has fit in great with us and Ding. She seems to be incredibly athletic, she can jump really high and we've never seen a dog run as fast lol. Keeley we left messages with both if those SBT rescue numbers you gave us. We are going to hold out longer for her owners just incase they need more time to come forward. xx
